Hi, so a couple of weeks ago I built a new system, for both gaming and some content creation. All went well but this morning when I turned on the PC it wouldn't even boot to BIOS. I tried clearing the CMOS, flashing the latest version of BIOS, and at a closer inspection the motherboard(I should of started with that) had the error code 90 and and white LED turned on near. I just don't know what to do with that and I really needed my PC this weekend cause of my project. So, I have a Crosshair viii Hero motherboard with a Ryzen 5800x and 64 GB of Trident Z RGB ram and an EK 360mm AIO. The chip to the left of the AIO pump/ cpu fan headers (pictured) started glowing red hot and smoking when I booted up my pc just now, smelling of burnt electronics. However, my PC still booted and didn't crash or anything running a CPU stress test through fur mark, I did some rudimentary internet sleuthing and could not find a definitive answer on what the purpose of this chip is, evidently it's not necessary too boot but I'd like to make sure I'm not putting my other hardware at risk by running it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Alrighty, so I have tried everything I can think of, but I'll keep it short. Recently I did a motherboard swap in my PC, I upgraded from an ROG Strix B450-F Gaming, to a Crosshair VIII Hero, overall a pricy investment. I got everything swapped into my case, and powered the system on, everything was in order, except for the RGB was non-existent, went into the BIOS, edited everything that needed to be changed (Fan speeds, D.O.C.P, etc.), I then checked the Aura tab to see if that was the issue, it was already set to "all on" so I exited to BIOS and booted up fully into Windows 10 64-bit, opened aura creator, and noticed the board wasn't recognized, however, it said that my B450-F Gaming was still installed, and I could add it to a color profile and everything. Then, I opened Armoury Crate, and in the Dashboard tab, it recognized that my Crosshair VIII Hero was installed, but then I click on the Aura Creator tab within Armoury Crate, and it stills says a B450-F Gaming, which really threw me through a loop. I googled what I could, made a reddit post (that mostly went un-noticed). Updated the BIOS, made sure that everything behind the shroud was connected, and still no RGB. I would like to note, that there is no RGB on the shroud above the rear IO, nor on the chipset cover. I am at a complete loss. I tried setting the color scheme to red in Aura Creator, and its still rainbow vomit. I have 12v RGB fans that are connected to one of the headers, but they are stuck in a bluish silver tone, so my RAM and AIO pump are RGB vomit, and the fans are more or less white. I have no idea what's going on, I would also like to note, the board was bought as a refurbished, all that was noted on the listing was that the bottom left corner was bent a little, and it is, however, that is the only damage I noticed. Any help would be appreciated. The list of specs are as follows: MB: Crosshair VIII Hero CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X CPU Cooler: ROG Strix 240LC AIO Fans: x6 Antec SPARK 120mm GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 2060 Super RAM: Trident Z Neo (2x8 GB) 3600MHz C16 PSU: ARESGAME AGK850 850W Storage: - 250GB Adata SU635 2.5" SSD - 4TB Seagate Barracuda HDD - 1TB WD Blue HDD If there is anything I missed, feel free to let me know and I will gladly include it. If images are also required for help, I will happily take some and provide them for any chance at solving this issue. As we all know, RGB is the most essential part of any gaming PC. Thank you.

Okay, I recently purchased the ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero from newegg. I got it installed (it was my first time) and everything seemed to go fine, except the PC wouldn't even power on. No fans, nothing. The only thing that lit up was the insignias on the motherboard itself and its "Start" button. Everything else was dead. I called ASUS customer support and they walked me through the troubleshoot, and they said that it was a defective motherboard. Fast forward 3 weeks, and my replacement motherboard arrived (yesterday). I installed it this morning, I downloaded the recommended BIOS onto the root directory of my flash drive (from ASUS CPU support list, I have a Ryzen 7 2700x), performed the BIOS Flashback, and the thing won't turn on. I called customer support again, and they ran me through the same trouble shooting and low and behold, they said it was defective again and to process another return. Here's the thing, I highly doubt that it is possible to receive 2 defective motherboards, and that is just their "we don't know what's wrong" answer. Can anyone help? This is my first time building a computer, so everything I know is what I have learned online. Here's what I ran through so far for trouble shooting: - populate one slot with compatible ram in the recommended slot for a single ram stick (A2). - try the same thing with a different ram stick, I don't know maybe the Vengeance Pro isn't compatible and the regular Vengeance is (they both are according to pcpartpicker) - tried clearing the CMOS - tried a fresh install of the recommended BIOS - try to ruin safe mode / reset button/ start button / every button on the darn thing that the manual said would possibly help - checked my CPU for bent pins (they're not bent, the CPU is now back in my older motherboard on the PC I am using to type this) - checked to make sure everything is seated properly, I even unplugged and re-lugged to make sure. - disconnected all of my HDD and SSD's, this shouldn't have been a problem but why not try it at this point, right? - try powering on with my gtx 1060 removed (the first tech said to try this, the second tech said my mobo needed an external gpu to boot, but I figured why not) - disconnect case fans, obviously left the CPU fan - switched the plastic sheath from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 on the LN2 port After all of this, on two different motherboards mind you, the thing is still dead. The only lights that are working are the RGB insignias on the motherboard itself, and its 'start' button. This tells me that my mobo has power, so I just don't understand what is going on here. The only thing I did that I felt was out of the ordinary was connecting a 3 pin case fan to the 4 pin W_PUMP wince it still has the same PWM signal, I figured this didn't matter. Somebody please help me lol

Hello, I have turned off Compatibility Support Module in order to enable Resisable Bar, however, now my POST times are very long and I've no idea why or how to rectify it. I believe that the setting within CSM which impacts the POST time is 'Boot from Storage Devices'. Having that setting set to 'Ignore' or 'Legacy' ensures a fast boot, however having it set to UEFI results in a much longer post time. I'm guessing that when CSM is turned off I am in UEFI mode by default? I have no idea what any of this means so I'm not sure of my next step. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 5800x3D Crosshair Hero 8 32GB G.Skill Neo (XMP on) RX 6700 Boot Drive: Corsair MP600 2nd Drive: Crucial CT2000P5SSD8 RAID 1: 2x 4TB Toshiba X300 (the settings in the attached photo allow my pc to POST and boot as normal) Thanks in advance,

I've had this external LG blu ray drive for about a year now, but recently I've come to find when I restart the system, it does nothing but hang on a black screen, and none of my peripherals seem to turn on. The Q-Code on my Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi just reads "3E" with a yellow light, which apparently means "Post-Memory PCH initialization is started". The only way my PC restarts normally is if I unplug the drive from the back of the motherboard before restarting. I tried updating the drivers for that specific drive, but LG's website doesn't seem to have a list of drivers for their products.

Ok so im trying to figure out best place to put my gpu on a Asus ROG Crosshair Hero viii wifi motherboard. The top Pcie slot will cover the chip set fans and is right under my m.2 drive/ heatsink, bottom slot Pcie slot leaves just enough room to slide your fingers between power supply shroud and gpu using fractal meshyfy s2 case and 1080ti msi gaming x.

bios Unable to update BIOS on Asus Crosshair VIII Hero Wifi
SirBilliam posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I am unable to update to BIOS version 0702 using flashback or EZ Update 3. I am using a USB 2.0 drive formatted to FAT32, and I use the BIOS renamer tool as instructed. When I insert the drive into the BIOS port, and hold the flashback button, it blinks a few times then stays on. When I try using EZ update 3, it tells me the C8H.CAP file is not a proper BIOS. I even tried using the file before renaming it. I have nothing on my drive except the file when trying the flashback. I called Asus, and they said I would need to have a replacement board sent to me, but I would like to avoid that if at all possible. Has anyone had any luck trying something different? AI Suite tells me my current version 0506 is the latest, which it is not.- 1 reply

Going to make the story quick and painless. Just switched from a 2700x/b450 msi tomahawk to now a 3900x/asus crosshair hero viii x570. On the 2700x I was able to achieve great performance by setting the bclk to 103 and letting the boost do its thing. I was able to hit 4.47 on my 2700x . Now on the new 3900x whenever adjust the bclk my core boost seems disabled and just sits at whatever the new base core frequency like 38xx. If I set bclk back to 100 then the boost works again. Is there something I'm doing wrong or can this board not bclk overclock in conjunction with core boost

So I recently updated my pc internals, i upgraded to a asus rog crosshair viii hero mobo, ryzen 7 3800x cpu, and 32 GB of trident z neo 3600 mhz ram. I somehow for som reason can not clock the ram at 3600 mhz. Highest I can get it to post at is 3200, I have seen this is a common problem with the rog boards however does anyone know a work around for this issue. I have tried manual clocking, d.o.c.p. settings, all to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated. PC specs are: AMD Ryzen 7 3800 X (all core oc to steady 4.3) Asus Rog Crosshair VIII MSI RTX 2070 Ventus Gskill Trident Z Neo 32 gb (16x2) CoolerMaster Master Liquid ML 240 AIO Seasonic 750 Platinum PSU Samsung evo 970 pro m.2 boot drive Intel 1tb m.2 library drive and other random storage and addons

Hi together, I recently tried to run a blender benchmark as I did a few weeks before and i am now getting weird restarts with the error message below. My CPU temperatures during blender are in the high 70s to low 80s according to HWinfo64, and the overclock was stable so far. 4.35 GHz @ 1.31V. Could this be a sign of degradation, or is there something wrong with the bios (bug?). First time i ran blender I was on bios version 1201, now I use version 2204. But even 2204 was stable, since I use it since 2 months now...

So i recently upgraded my system from an ageing intel build due to a failed AIO which also coincided with a failure on the old motherboard. I am now runnning the following Asus Crosshair VIII Hero (2206 Bios) Ryzen 3900x Noctua DH15 32Gb Balisitx 3600Mhx DDR4 Sabrent Rocket 500GB Nvme PCI Gen4 Asus 1060 Dual OC 6Gb Corsair HX1000 I have set DOCP in Bios and manually set the Vcore to 1.30, everything else is set to auto (for now). My problem seems to be that in single core boost i rarely get above 4.3GHz (Cinebench R20 single core), if i runa multicore test in r20 the cpu speed drops down to about 4GHz which i believe to be normal, temps sit at a maximum of 85 degress. I get about 60-70degress during gaming or non-artifical applications. The question i have is what other settings should i be looking at tweaking to ensure i am getting the best out of the system before cosnidering going to some sort of overclock?

Hello, I tried a soft overclock on my system (Ryzen 7 3700x, ASUS ROG Crosshair viii Hero (Wi-Fi), AMD 5700xt) and it wasn’t something I haven’t tried before. The system shut off and would not boot back up. I tried clearing CMOS, removing the CMOS battery (and in the process I took out the GPU), removing the RAM, And tried booting into safe mode. Nothing has worked. I usually get the same codes 0d and E8 then it’ll change to the code OC on the motherboard with the White VGA led lit up. Anyone have any idea on what to do or what the problem may be? I haven’t taken the CPU out yet.
