A bit ago I tried upgrading the Bios on this Crosshair VII Hero WiFi from Bios 3103 to 4007 using the USB Flashback functionality, running Windows 10 pro 20H2. I noticed a few oddities, the biggest one was the computer intermittently hard rebooting. I looked though the settings tinkered with a few voltages and removing C-states, clearing the settings, loading optimized defaults. But it kept Randomly rebooting? I could not find any real rhyme or reason. I figured just a buggy Bios so I rolled back to 3103, and the computer went back to running fine. So the other day I thought I would update the Bios to Version 4204, again from 3103. Updated the AMD chipset drivers, and ran sfv /scannnow before flashing the bios via usb flashback. After a bit It started doing the random hard reset's again? It even does the random hard reset from within the BIOS. Setting the voltages for the Vcore and Ram , and it ran fine for the next day while I ran varous bench marks: Unigine Heaven, Prime 95, Folding at home. I then went into the Bios to tweak the fan curves and low and behold It did the Hard reboot again while I was in the Bios? When it got into windows after login it hard reboot again, Then it started working fine again? Looking though the event logs I see Kernal-Power "The system rebooted without cleanly shutting down first." and Eventlog showing:"the previous System Shutdown was unexpected" Ran SFC /Scannow and no issues found. I'm really at a loss, It works fine on the older 3103 bios? I've looked around but I haven't seen a post go into depth with this type of error, but is possible I'm blind. I am intending on upgrading the CPU and Graphics card when they are back in stock. System Specs: ROG Crosshair VII Hero WiFi Ryzen 3600x 16 GB Gskill F4-3866C18D-8GTZ Samsung B-Die Corsair HX1000i AMD Radeon R9 390X NVME M.2 WD Black SN750 Anyone have any helpful insights?

Let me start by saying, this is my last resort action for my Motherboard. I have been through Asus NA and Asus DE tech support channels to see if they can help me resolve my issues with my motherboard, but it appears that there is not way of getting it fixed unless I send it in for repair - out of warranty ofc - with the uncertainty if they can even fix the issue. Additionally I have gone through every step I know of (I am an IT since 15-ish years) without the slightest glimpse of success... What a nice preamble. Now to the issue I have with my board. I am unable to update the BIOS via any of the possible means provided by Asus. Meaning: EZ Flash through Windows EZ Flash through BIOS via internet EZ Flash through BIOS via USB Drive Flashback button function via USB None of the above was working, well almost... So what I did is the following. I started on a Sunday morning to download the latest BIOS for my board: 4901 I got the error that Image doesn't match the BIOS, no problem, I thought maybe this is too much of a jump since I had 1002 version installed. So I did start at the very beginning of the BIOS versions with 1103, through windows, BIOS via internet and BIOS via USB. This was not working either all the way up to 2203, which suddenly was working, full of joy I attempted 4901 again, without success. I then attempted all of the remaining version from 2203 up to 4703 without success, always throwing the same error that the image doesn't fit the BIOS. I did also try to remove battery clear BIOS but without success. I am at wits end with this. But I cannot simply throw this board away as you can imagine, and my plan is to upgrade to the 5000 series for which i will need a minimum BIOS version of 4703. I would've hoped they would check what made 2203 so special, dissect it see what is difference at its core compared to 4703 or 4901 and then provide me with a custom version to fit my problem, but it appears that they're not moving so much if it is an older board.. If anyone has an idea or can do the BIOS dissection, i'd be more than happy!! Thanks to y'all in advance.

Hi, Well I'm thinking of upgrading my motherboard (actually Gigabyte AX370M Gaming 3) and RAM (RAM I have already decided which one to buy) and I had a lot of doubts because there was the occasion to get a very monster motherboard that is X370 chipset and it is Asus Crosshair VI Hero, it is cheaper than many B450 where I live, so I prefer to come here and ask for your opinion. I keep an eye on which one I get? Asus Crosshair VI Hero (147$) Asus Crosshair VII Hero (283$) Asus X470-F (230$) I thought a lot about Crosshair VI Hero because it has always been a consumer dream and it is now for a very nice price (147$ on my country), it is very cheap for what it is, maybe in the future I will use with a Ryzen 5 3600, but I will only buy it next year or more because now their price is still too high. I know C6H use X370 Chipset and the X470-F and C7H use X470 Chipset, who cames with a lot of optimizations on the Chipset, like better memory RAM compatibility, better VRM's and more technologies (StoreMI and others). Questions: Worth pay the double for a newer chipset with some new technologies? The C6H BIOS is good for Ryzen 3000? The C6H have PBO and XFR2? The C6H have BIOS issues? I remember my Crosshair V Formula-Z (gift with an FX 8320 given last year) had BIOS support for 3 years (2012-2015) so I think Asus will always support C6H.

SO i have 2 questions guys! I am considering to buy a Crosshair VII Hero (WIFI) for my Ryzen 3900x, which i want to use among Stock and make overclock. But i dont know if i will have problems with that Board, i already know theres a BIOS update needed, any comments against my choice? Other consideration is the Asus x-570e gaming but is so expensive and im not needing the PCIE 4.0 or the WIFI 6 soo... pls help In the other hand, im planning on connecting the following: 1x m.2 NVME Samsung EVO plus 970, 1x m.2 Western Digital Blue (SATA not NVME!!)... will i have problems if i attempt to connect an extra 2TB ssd for storage in the standard SATA ports obviously? is SSD storage a safe choice for Photography storage or should i consider HDD instead? i make a living on the photo bussiness so i need to know this. I'm pretty sure that I'm not imagining this, but the new BIOS update I did on my Crosshair VII Hero board today has lowered my NVME drive temp by 12* C. I am running a Western Digital Black SN750 NVME SSD which is a 1TB drive. Before, under normal use the drive software would report back temps of around 52*C which is well within normal operational range. However after Installing the BIOS update to version 3103 and restarting the system. The drive software now reports that the operating temp is 40*C. I have not changed anything else in the case as far as cooling wise. I haven't re-positioned any fans or increased their speed. I'm wondering if the old BIOS was making the drive work harder than it needed too and that's why the temperature was so much higher. It just seems very strange that the temperature difference is that much and like I said,I haven't changed anything in the way of my cooling setup. If anyone has any thoughts on this I'd love to hear them. Thank you.

Greetings, So I've got my ryzen 2700x with a crosshair vii hero motherboard, but I'm struggling with ram. I plan to get the trident z rgb ram https://www.gskill.com/en/finder?cat=31&series=2860 (general), https://www.gskill.com/en/finder?cat=31&series=3268 (for amd), but I've found not only are the latter once less available, but a lot more expensive. I understand asking if a ram not designed for amd will work with it sounds stupid, but according to this https://www.amd.com/system/files/2017-06/am4-motherboard-memory-support-list-en_0.pdf from amd, it lists components not specifically designed for amd as well, so I am very confused. Though this link seems to be a bit outdated tho (2017). So yeah, I wonder if this F4-3200C14D-32GTZR will work with well with my new ryzen. Thanks a lot in advance! love you guys

Hello friends, Posting here only because the ROG forums keeps saying access denied.... After the fatal death of my former machine using an Asrock board (just after the warranty ended) I decided to go back to ASUS since I know their products are top notch, I even still have an old machine with a Crosshair V Formula Z purring like a kitten. I got a hold of a 3700x, a Crosshair vii Hero, and 16 GB of g skill trident z royal ram. After I got it all swapped around in my case and hooked up, I got the machine turned on, Windows installed, and proceeded to work on getting drivers and other things installed that I'd use. My full specs are: 3700x, crosshair vii hero (wi-fi), gskill trident z royal 16GB 3600, Corsair H150i Pro, evga supernova p2 1000w, MSI Gaming 6G 980 Ti, Samsung 970 Evo 500gb, WD Black 3TB, a corsair commander pro for the 6 Corsair LL120 fans I have in my case (plugged into an NZXT Internal USB Hub) and all of this inside a Lian Li PC-011 Dynamic Razer Edition case. I want to also note, while I plan to over clock I have not even touched that yet at all. Now, after I had a few drivers and software pieces installed, it started giving hard lock ups (could tell since all the LEDs would go static) and after restart it'd work fine. When I was running a Realbench test to see if it was stable enough for that, it finished the test but all 4 parts came back with errors. When I moved the mouse again after it finished, it locked up for the last time and never recovered. I've tried holding the reset CMOS button on the back for about 10 or so seconds and starting it with the power button integrated on the board and I've tried 2 other sticks of ram that I have, now it gets passed the ROG splash screen that also says "Press F2 or DEL to enter BIOS" and even if I do that, it skips to the next screen which shows the American Megatrends logo and thats it. Q-Code 0d shows up, the DRAM LED under the Q-Code display is also lit and solid (it was also solid when I could load into windows also, even though the BIOS was detecting all my ram as well) and it sits there no matter what I've done. I want to also note, I've also tried removing the corsair commander and plugged in most of the fans to the board that I could and also tried another graphics card also (much older 760 that I keep for testing purposes) with the same issue persisting. The only thing I HAVE NOT TRIED was to update the BIOS. I'm using the one that shipped with the board which I cannot remember the exact version but I believe its 2300 or something. Is it worth giving a go, or at this point I'm thinking the board just doesn't like RAM and needs to be replaced? Or if anyone has any other ideas please let me know. Thank you all in advance.
