Back in the olden days, you could run two different video cards (not SLI or Crossfire) and have each one running a monitor. And, of course, there are apparently still vestiges of CrossfireX available, but the cards have to be from the same generation. Is there any benefit to running two different cards in the same system today? (other than to run 6 monitors) What I was ideally thinking was to have my RX590 8GB running my two displays and my new RX6750XT 12GB doing nothing but crunching for things like Premiere and AfterEffects. Is that in any way possible? Mobo is ASUS TUF X570-PLUS with Ryzen 5 3600 and Widows 11.

Hi guys! I'm new here so if I do any mistakes in my post just say so and I'll try to fix. So just now, I tried to play Crysis 2, everything seems fine until I get to the actual gameplay. My computer just crashes. But, like, hard crash. E.g.: the RGB profile on my mouse just fails. And also two black screens. Rebooting is the only option. I find that weird because I can play other games wich are not really that intensive (Portal, Osu!, Risk of Rain, etc) and it will work fine. I'm just gonna add also : 3DMark and Heaven Benchmark works perfectly fine. But when it gets to games like Crysis and BF4, It just suddenly crash whenever it wants. I can't predict when it will, but it will. Also happened once in Path of Exile. I've had my 2 cards for awhile now. I don't play many games, but when I switch and it just suddenly crashes, its really annoying. I don't really know what else to say. Here are my computer specs: Intel Core i7-3770k Asus ROG Maximus IV Extreme 16GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1866Mhz #1 GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 290X 4GB #2 GPU: XFX Radeon R9 290X 4GB Evga 1000G2 Kingston 480GB SSD WD 2TB Black I'm sorry if my post isn't clear, if my grammar and syntax is awful.

Hello Guys , So I want to upgrade my G1 GTX970 to a CrossFire of XFX RX480 8gb , and I don't know if my PSU will support it ! It's a Cooler Master GX-700W Lite link: http://www.coolermaster.com/service/support/model/RS-700-ASAB/ Because some of my friends are saying yes , but the seller says that "It's to old, it could damage your components!" I bought it 1 and a half year ago. Thanks .

Okay so this is my first post usually just browsing around. but last week I was just shopping on eBay, and I "thought" I found the exact same gpu I have in my current system for only $100 so I was all hell ya! I get to try crossfire baby!! Well I get the card and I plop it in the system. grab the fancy crossfire bridge and what do you know the card in my system doesn't have a connector to put it?!?! but the one I just bought does?!? did some searching and I guess there was a switch between crossfire and crossfire x and I now own one of each. real question. is there anyway for me to crossfire these 2 cards? or did I just get a great deal on a fancy paperweight? eBay:XFX AMD RADEON R9 290 https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-Dissipation-R9290AEDFD-Graphic/dp/B00HHIPM5Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1536271936&sr=8-1&keywords=xfx+r9+290x&dpID=51D7NodKw2L&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch In system: XFX AMD RADEON R9 290X https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Dissipation-R9-290X-EDFD-512-Bit-CrossFireX/dp/B00HHIPN5A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1536272200&sr=8-2&keywords=xfx+r9+290x&dpID=41%2BfUSm%2BeDL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch Yes I know these cards are old as *%*& but I was hoping to get a little more life out of them as I finish my newest system build. (waiting on 1080's to take the 2080 release price drop) thanks a bunch

Hi all, today I bought a second 280X from ASUS. Before putting in the second card I run some benchmark and games (bf4, bf3, unigine heaven, gw2). Than I plugged in the second gpu, connected the gpus with the crossfire bridge and run the same thing again but without any improvement to FPS (in heaven bench with 1 gpu i got 70~ FPS and with cfx enabled i have 65-66). And also the second 280x shows that he's at 0°C and asus gpu tweak reconise it as a generic r9 200 series (the 1st is correctly displayed). Additional note: if I disable CrossfireX, GPU Tweak correctly show the information about the second GPU but I have the same result as a single GPU in benchmark) I've already checked if my drivers are up to date and also if the crossfirex is enabled from the Amd settings. My system info (if needed): 3570K ASUS Rog Maximus V Gene Corsair AX760 (other stuff isn't necessary i think) Any advice? Thanks for your time.

Hey guy's, so i'm having an issue with my monitor randomly blacking out, i'll go ahead and list my specs real quick then i'll go a little more into detail. MotherBoard: Asus Rog CrossHair V Formula Z. CPU: AMD FX-8350. RAM: 16 Gigs G.Skill Trident X (2400MHz). PSU: EVGA Supernova 1000W G2. GPU(s): 2 Radeon HD 7950 DD's (In Crossfire). Okay so i have a triple monitor setup on my Crossfire setup. i don't have EyeFinity enabled just using 3 monitors. Main Display is a vizio LEDTV (Detected as display number 2) plugged into HDMI. then a Hyundai monitor (Detected as number 3) plugged into Mini Display port with a Mini Display to VGA Active adapter. And a HP w19 Monitor (Detected as number 1) plugged into VGA. So the HP Monitor randomly goes black. my Computer stays on and the other 2 screens stay on. but that monitor just blacks out. it's still on but is black, it shows picture for a little after a reboot. i've noticed while watching netflix, when i start a new episode it goes black, then if i start another one after that it will turn back on for a little bit, if i unplug it and plug it back in the display will come back shortly. but then i have the issue again. i have tried it with the Active adapter and just plugged into the VGA. the problem wen't away for a little while but just randomly came back. i have tried different catalyst driver versions, including the latest and older ones. if anyone can help that would be awesome! Thanks!

Is it possible to have more than one Crossfire (or SLI) configuration in one system? For example, could someone set up two arrays of R9 390x's in two way Crossfire instead of four way Crossfire? As Linus points out in this video (linked below), one system can host one array in two way SLI and another array in two way Crossfire. Is it possible to host two ways of two way Crossfire (or SLI)? Furthermore if this is possible, could someone set up two arrays of four way Crossfire? (Yes. I know this is rediculous and would be costly money, power, and heat. I'm just exploring GPGPU possibilities.) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YqkI7bOfRkA

Hey guys, I need a sound advice: I have this 3 way crossfire system, with 3 r9 280 gpu's. I am a real sim lover and am currently playing DCS World and Star Citizen. The problem is that I can't seem to use this multi-gpu system IN ANY WAY!!! In dcs, I know that there is no current support for the old DX9 graphics based angine and that I need to wait for the much anticipated DCS 2 release sometime this year hopefully. In Star Citezen tough – I am really pissed from the lack of REAL LIFE support for a 2 or even 3 way gpu system. It is supposed to inherently work flawlwssly since it is based on CRY ENGINE, DX 11 (or is it 11.5?), MANTLE and what not. I have 2 screens; one is a 42" for actual gaming and the second one is a 17" designed for testing purposes. When using AMD Monitor app, only the first GPU is working at 99%, while the other two are sitting idle at 0%. I get around 30fps in hangar, but it is driving me up the f#ucking wall!!! I have a specialized profile in CCC enabled, I've made sure the Crossfire is 3 way and turned on by default and in the specific profile. I'm running the latest Catalyst 15.5 BETA (I've also tried the 14.4 as well), windows 8.1 64 bit edition and… and… Oh, yeah – I've tried to program the multi gpu setting in the CONSOLE in-game with an error message "unrecognized command" or something of that sort. So I've made a USER.CFG file in the CitizenClient folder: Con_Restricted = 0 r_multiGPU = 1 r_Gamma = 1.2 sys_MaxFps = 60 r_TexMinAnisotropy = 8 r_TexMaxAnisotropy = 8 e_ShadowsMaxTexRes = 256 r_MotionBlur = 0 r_ColorGrading = 0 r_FogShadows = 0 r_VSync = 0 sys_spec_Sound = 2 i_Mouse_Accel = 0.0 i_Mouse_Smooth = 0.0 r_ChromaticAbberation = 0 r_sharpening = 0 r_HDRGrainAmount = 0 cl_fov = 70 r_DepthOfField = 0 g_radialBlur = 0 hud_bobHud = 0 r_SSAO = 0 r_ssdo = 1 r_SSReflections = 0 r_HDRBrightLevel = 0.5 e_ParticlesShadows = 0 Unfortunately, nothing has worked for me and I am totally disappointed from this "cutting edge" gaming industry. These days, there are so many of us enthusiasts who build quite descent pc systems to be able to handle the load and strain of these high demanding simulations. I just want to enjoy my hobby as an enthusiast should! L What can I do to make my other gpu's to kick in and give me at least 60fps from this monster of a rig that I built especially for Star Citizen? Thank you soooo much for reading my post, it was written from my teary broken heart :-/

This is going to be a really stupid question, but to AMD Radeon cards work with Intel processors? In all Tech videos I watch, they never say anything about Radeon cards with Intel processors or Nvidia cards with AMD cards. Thanks, Max

So I have this build: ASRock 980DE3/U3S3 motherboard AMD FX-8350 @ 4,5GHz CPU Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU cooler 4x2GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 1600MHz RAM XFX R9-280X 3GB GDDR5 GPU 600W Cooler Master PSU I'd like to boost it up a little, and I thought another R9-280X in CFX would boost it. There are some things that make me think about it, though: 1: Does the 8350 bottleneck two 280X cards? I did research on this but one person says it does while another says it doesn't. I'd like to know the truth. 2: I'd of course need a new motherboard and a more powerful PSU for the 280X CFX build, therefore I don't know if I'd be better off just selling my 280X and buying a 290X/390 instead. Please help me. No intel fanboys saying my CPU is shitty when it isn't, please. I'd really like to avoid changing to Intel.

I've had an HIS IceQ X² HD 7950 for about two months now, the card performed exactly like my old Sapphire Dual-X 7970 when both were overclocked since my 7950 overclocks about 100mhz better. Thankfully I only paid $130 for the 7950 and sold my 7970 for about $200 a while ago. I pulled the trigger today and ordered a second HIS 7950, the IceQ with the oversized blower. I'll be using both in CrossfireX on my 1080p monitor. I was hesitant at first because the 7900 series don't support FreeSync. A 4K FreeSync enabled monitor currently sits at #1 of my list of future upgrades. But the 7950 was so cheap I just had to get it frankly. Happily things worked out because I currently have two systems, one in my dorm room and one back at home. I use a 720p monitor in my dorm and a 1080p one at home. So the plan is to move that 1080p monitor to my dorm room, keep the 4K monitor at home and give my 720p monitor to my little sister. She already has one 720p monitor so I was thinking about grabbing another 720p monitor and creating a little eyefinity setup for her. So I'll get to try out CrossfireX and eyefinity , two things which I wanted to experiment with for a long time now. Now what I need help with is to figure out how to connect three VGA monitors to a single graphics card, do I need to go for active HDMI and Displayport converters ? or is there some sort of Displayport -> 3 VGA hub that I could use ? any tips. As for 4K, obviously I've looked at a whole bunch of benchmarks. Looks like the sweet-spot currently is two R9 290s for the best possible experience at 4K without hitting diminishing returns. There seems to be some issues with 980 & 970 SLI at 4K with frame latency and scaling according to HardOCP.com. I'm not entirely confvinced that Nvidia will or can add Adaptive Sync support to the 900 series so I'll probably skip SLI 970s. SLI 980s are just silly, way too expensive for just a tiny improvement in performance. Anybody here uses 4K ? what sort of performance do you get in various games at various settings. And most importantly is the visual difference worth it ? Cheers,

I plan to OC 4670k to 4.3GHz and run dual 7950s (maybe OC them a bit as well). How much power is used to OC the CPU? is it linear (higher clock, higher power) at a constant rate?

A couple weeks ago I posted this to which everyone responded along the lines of "79xx bc 3 free games". Since then, I have decided to go for a 7xxx card but I am still waiting on 9xxx for prices and benchmarks, and 7xxx price drops (hoping but not counting on it). Current build looks like this: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1BHTz CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Microcenter) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($109.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($124.98 @ Outlet PC) Memory: Kingston Beast 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory (Purchased For $0.00) Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (Purchased For $0.00) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (Purchased For $0.00) Case: BitFenix Shinobi Window XL (Black) ATX Full Tower Case ($159.99 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: Corsair CX 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($34.99 @ Newegg) Total: $629.94 I was going to throw in a 7950 and call it a day but I wondered if maybe a CFX 7790 or CFX 7850 would out-perform in games and video editing. Budget on GPU: $300 MAXIMUM 7950: 3 games, $248.98 2x7790: 2 games (1 each), $287.96 2x7850: 4 games (2 each), $343.96 (the second one would be purchased down the line) I will still wait for 9xxx series and see if it is Hackintosh compatible.

I am building a pc in the node 804 and I am getting the asus z97m-plus matx mobo and one saphire 290 vapor x and a second one later. They are 2.5 slots so would they fit? (the mobo has this layout [pcie 3.0 x16] [pci] [pci] [pcie 2.0 x16] ) so there is enough clearence between. would the second one fit without touching the bottom or something like that. also would a be quiet power zone 1000w modular 80+bronze be capable of powering those and i5 4690k, 5 case fans, 1 hdd, 1 ssd, 2 dimms of ram and maby later an aio water cooler. I thank everybody that helps in advantage! HELP!

Hey guys, I'm currently securing a budget for a low-cost build and this is what I'm planning: Name: Fumizuki Short Description: Entry level gaming rig with crossfirex graphics built around the FM2+ platform Rationale: Fumizuki is the sister rig to Mutsuki (who shall be reassigned to HTPC/Home-office duties, specs in sig). The build is for light gaming, light photo/video editing, and general usage. She is planned for 7-year life cycle as a daily-use rig. The budget is tight (sub 500USD), but some parts are already on hand. Overclocking capabilites are secondary to out-of-the-box performance. SSDs are also not necessary due to need of storage space, meaning HDDs are to be used. Another factor is intercompatibility with Mutsuki, hence using the FM2+ platform. Other descriptions: Black&blue color scheme preferred. Plan: Some parts from Mutsuki are to be moved back to the old case and old PSU, a new aftermarket cooler will be provided. All purchases are to be made with cash, in physical shops due to unavailability of online shopping options in the region. Purchases may be made in waves depending on available cash on hand... Parts(tentative) for Fumizuki: Mobo: Gigabyte F2A88XM-xxx or MSI A88XM-Exx CPU: Ax-7xxxk (to be determined by budget) Cooler: DeepCool Gammaxx S40 (or something else in the 20-25USD price range) RAM: Kingston HyperX Blue 16GB 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (may be replaced with anything cheaper) GPU: Sapphire R7 260X 2GB DDR5 OC 2xDVI (from Mutsuki) PSU: FSP Hexa 600W (from Mutsuki) Case: AeroCool PGS V3 (from Mutsuki) HDD0: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200rpm SATA II (System Drive, from Mutsuki) HDD1: WD Blue/Seagate 2TB 7200rpm SATAIII (Storage drive) HDD2: WD Elements 1TB USB 2.0 desktop external HDD (may be reassigned to cold storage) ODD: N/A K/B: Dragonwar DarkSector (or whatever's the cheapest mechanical keyboard out there) (note: the DarkSector uses scissor-type switches like those found on low-mid-end laptops) Mouse: Any USB optical mouse Parts(tentative) for Mutsuki: Mobo: Gigabyte F2A55M-DS2 rev 1.0 CPU: A8-5600k 3.6GHz (may be underclocked to 3.2GHz if voltages and stability allow it) RAM: 2x Kingston 4GB 1333MHz Low Profile RAM in Dual Channel configuration Cooler: DeepCool Gammaxx S40 GPU: IGP of the A8-5600k PSU: Dynamics 700W(?, 450W max estimate, will upgrade when budget is available... Unit tested to be good, but not great) Case: Dynamics 'Red Wine' mATX case (no plans on changing out this one) HDD: WD Blue 5600rpm 320GB 2.5" SATAII (former cold storage drive) ODD: Samsung DVD-RW combo drive If the purchases of the parts are to be made in waves, this would be the plan to follow: 1: HDD (when cash becomes available) 2: Mobo + CPU + RAM (most likely after Christmas) 3: Peripherals + Cooler (probably April since I have a spare set of PS/2 keyboard and mouse) Any suggestions on how/where I can cut some costs or get some better performance for the price range without losing the intercompatibility? and which APU will be able to operate in dual graphics with the 260X?

I am just setting up my new development/gaming system and am having trouble getting CrossfireX enabled on my Windows 8.1. I am getting the infamous "internal bridge interconnects" message, but these cards don't have bridges for CrossFireX, they are supposed to communicate over the PCI bus for it. Here are the relevant parts: ASUS P9X79-E WS 2x ASUS R9 290X Rosewill Hercules 1600W Intel i7 4930k I saw in another thread with someone having a similar problem, but he was using an APU processor, and everyone seemed to think that was the issue. The worst part about this is in Ubuntu, the CCC shows the option to enable CrossfireX, but I am not developing in Ubuntu I only use that OS for testing builds etc, and don't really need the extra power there. All other aspects of these cards seem to be working fine. Any ideas? I have gone through the full driver sweeper in safe mode re-install latest, update BIOS on the mobo steps and nothing seems to help.

Hey, I have a 7970 Ghz Edition 3GB from Sapphire. Iam very satisfied but a friend asked me if i would sell it. If I sell it i will be replacing it with 2 R9 270X 4GBx2? Do I get better performance with two R9 270X?

I dont know if this is the right place to put question, if it is not please move it where it belongs. If I connect PCIe 3.0 16x graphic card to 2.0 16x slot, is it going to work on 3.0 8x? If so, how are 2 graphics 3.0 gonna work (4x/4x ?) in crossfire on 2.0 mobo that work on 8x/8x in crossfire? e.g. this mobo and graphics http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3901#sp http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/R72601GD5/ Thank you in advance!

Pretty much up there, since an APU rig may appeal to me if it works with a 7770. Also, could I Hybrid Crossfire the 7770 with an A10-6800K since it is nearly the same card as the 7750? One more thing. Can someone find me a decent motherboard (form factor doesn't matter) with the A88 chipset and FM2+ socket that would support the above? I appreciate it. (No ASUS boards, they are too bling.) I will consider ASUS actually. @NohbodyKnows

In this post I explain my problem of choosing between two motherboards. The motherboards are MSI Z87 XPower and Asus Maximus IV Extreme. I'm leaning more towards the Asus mobo because the Xpower has a PLX-bridge. I'm not an expert on the subject but apparently there is a difference between a PLX-bridge and native SLI/CrossFireX in the way of performance where native SLI/CrossFireX is the prefered choice. Is there any truth to this?

So here I am wondering wether my trusty asus p8p67-m will let me down in a crossfire scenario. My first R9 290 is happily sitting in the top x16 slot, but eventually I was planning to get it a playmate and crossfire the hell out of them. Enter the pcie x16 slot with x4 wiring that is on the bottom of the motherboard. A lot of people, me included, usually discourage running crossfire in this scenario because of the bottleneck, HOWEVER... I found this graph online showing that a 7970 only looses about 4 to 5% of its performance to the lower bandwidth. Since the 290 is faster I'd assume bandwidth would be a slightly bigger problem, causing say an 8% loss. That would be entirely acceptable to me, do you think such predictions make sense or am I going to loose 30%+ performance? This is the graph:

Hello, I'm making my first computer and I need help choosing a motherboard. 1150 Support Possibility to CrossfireX one day Now here is the tricky part I think, I'm going with a white Define R4 Windowed, and I would like a White and Blue style overall, so the ram will be blue or white, I'm going with a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X which is yellow but that doesn't really matter. The motherboard needs to match everything else Red and Black (which seems to be the norm) wouldn't go well with White and Blue (or would it ) If you could just suggest some motherboards I'd appreciate it.
