  1. Budget: $2000 Programs or workloads that it will be used for: an excess amount of internet browser tabs, beam.ng, GTA6, tarkov, 3dsmax, blender, CNC programs, mainly heavy gaming looking to build my forever computer, $2000 budget, would be dope to keep it around $1500 I have no parts leftover from my last computer so I'm starting over. I have a ton of free time with how the market is so I'll be using the computer alot for the next year or so, possibly daily. also any monitor suggestions? was thinking maybe a regular monitor then a monitor that's tilted, whatever they're called. also if you know anything about mouses, keyboards, headsets let me know lol, I don't have a setup at all currently, thanks
  2. Budget (including currency): 2500USD. Country: USA Aim: Mainly to be used as a photo editing computer. The current desk setup includes a single 4k 60Hz monitor, but I may add a second in the future. Programs: Adobe Lightroom Classic/Photoshop, very occasional very casual gaming (AC, Halo, etc) I've never assembled a computer before and so I am looking to be caught here on any caveats I may have missed. Will the components fit in the case? Am I missing something in the list below like: extra case fans cables thermal grease The intent is for the computer to be a small-form-factor build, that will run as quiet as possible, while performing photo-editing tasks, offloading camera cards, and exporting images. I understand that the SFF requirement is a compromise to this, but frankly I need the space for all my desk clutter. I can try to justify the choices made below, but looking for any areas where I could improve without overspending. I would also like to keep power consumption lower during standard use (web browsing, etc) to keep the temperature rise in the room down (need to get rid of the ~400W of heat generation out of here somehow). Also do I need any tools? I have standard tools, iFixit driver set, inspection mirror, caulking gun, so I should be good for most things I think. JUSTIFICATIONS CPU: I understand that the single threaded performance needed for Lightroom is somewhere that Intel excels, but why am I choosing an i9? I hear that these chips are better suited for undervolting, which could lower power consumption (heat generation) and keep the fans running at lower speed for longer. CPU Cooler: Noctua good I hear? The cooler looks like it fits and not a terrible price. Motherboard: Why the Z board? Not sure if the overclocking capability (not what I intend to do) is required for the undervolting. Supports DDR5, which I hear is not a substantial improvement on DDR4, but I see it as "future-proofing". Memory: 64 GBs, really? Yea there are a few other workflows I run for data processing that do benefit from high memory capacity. I have heard that high memory amounts can slow certain processes, so welcome to hearing any foreboding warnings. Other than that I just recognize Gskill as reliable and they are DDR5 which again, I'm not sure is really necessary. Storage: I already have the drives Video Card: I don't really know what it is that I do which is graphics intensive, though I am concerned that the onboard graphics will not be able to drive 1-2 4k monitors. Case: Looks neat. ITX. Let me know if you have any suggestions, but I am looking for something unassuming. Power Supply: Ignorant here. I assume that the titanium designation means that unit is more efficient and therefore producing less excess heat for the power conversion. 4. This might be potentially my first build, I really just wanted to set myself a budget and see what I got. The budget I set was $1500, I also only really sourced parts from with Newegg or Amazon. They are the two I am most comfortable with purchasing from. So without further to do, these are the two builds I thought up of. Intel Build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GTP9QV AMD Build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GBFHD8 So I am sure I did something wrong but let me explain a couple of my options that I have chose. Firstly for the storage I went for a 250GB SSD and a 1TB Seagate Barracuda. I chose the Barracuda just because it wasn't that much more expensive that the other hard drives that I saw at hand and I figured that a slightly better performance would not hurt. Also another thing that both builds have is the AVerMedia Game Capture, I do not plan to be a full time content creator but I would like to have that capability when I want to record something at decent to high settings. Both of these machines would work as my school computer and replace my poor laptop.Though I have to ask about Optane and whether at this price budget would anyone consider switching out the SSD for the Intel build. Thanks for the comments I hope I can learn to better choose parts in the future.
  5. Okay, so I'll preface this by saying that I totally get it in the case of HDR monitors, where their whole point is that different sections of the monitor are at different brightnesses. However... As the title suggests... I really, really don't understand why monitor reviews (and monitor specs, and so forth) and only ever mention a monitor's maximum brightness. Sure, if you're going to be using the monitor for content creation under a dozen fluorescent lights anyways, then maybe that's all that matters. But surely I'm not alone in being a gamer who plays mostly at night, and has all of his screens turned down to minimum brightness? I want reviews to start at least mentioning how dim a monitor can get, plus associated side effects. Dozens of monitors on the market have serious issues at low brightness; my iiyama howls like a banshee because of coil whine in the PSU whenever it's below 50% brightness. Other monitors I've tried have a minimum brightness that's still enough to illuminate an entire room completely and hurt your eyes at night. Are all reviewers people who sleep with their overhead lights on? I just don't understand. What are your guys' thoughts on this? Am I just a crazy person, or does this issue bother you too? How many of you use your screens at the dimmest setting possible?
  6. Feel free to suggest any necessary upgrades, point out bottlenecks, or anything you dislike about the build. I am currently upgrading some of the components (i.e. the mobo, RAM, etc). from what I currently have, but that will be reflected in the spec list (at least the part I am upgrading to). Wish I had some pictures to post, but I don't currently have any. Here are my specs: Processor: Intel i7-8700 k CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken x62 Motherboard: MSI MEG Z390 ACE Memory: 32 GB White Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (3200 Mhz) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 2TB (I have others but they're not anything worth mentioning). Video Card: Gigabyte RTX 2080 OC Case: NZXT H700i Power Supply: Corsair RM850x 80+ Gold PCPARTPICKER LINK: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZtJ6TB

  8. Hello everybody! I have a budget of $3600 (roughly). At maximum my budget is $4000. I have a PCPP list for the ultimate mid tier blender 3d / gaming / work PC. I would like you to critique and maybe even modify my list. Rules: 1) No changing CPU brand. (AMD! AMD!) 2) Please don't change the motherboard or case as well - unless you have a very good reason for it. 3) The CPU cooler is not gone, it is on Newegg and will be back in stock soon. 4) Try to fit as many AuraSync parts in as possible so I don't install 700 different RGB apps Thank you! Edit: Whoops! That was dumb. Here's the list
  9. Alright, so here is my first ever build. Pretty much what iv decided on. Open to thoughts, opinions, advice etc. Please note the CPU & Motherboard, as well as case and RAM, are pretty much set in stone. The rest is subject to change and i had a few specific questions#1. Should I get an ASUS Geforce GTX STRIX 1050 ti or an ASUS Dual GeForce GTX 1050 ti? Whats the verdict?#2. Is my CPU cooler alright? Do you recommend something better? I'm looking for something RGB But cheap and efficient. hoping to use the saved money here on other components#3. Is my PSU alright? Recommend me a better one if you think it fits, but keep in mind I am planning to upgrade my GPU at some point (to probably a 1070 ti or 1080 ti) as well as buy more ram and possibly a 1tb SATA 3 SSD to replace the 1tb HDDOkay, Here we go with the components : Component Selection Base Promo Shipping Tax Price Where CPU Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor $287.89 $287.89 Amazon Buy CPU Cooler CRYORIG - H7 Quad Lumi 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler $54.85 $54.85 OutletPC Buy Motherboard MSI - Z270 GAMING M5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $189.99 -$40.00 $1.99 $151.98 Newegg Buy $40.00 mail-in rebate Memory G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $229.99 FREE $229.99 Newegg Buy Add Additional Memory Storage Samsung - 960 EVO 250GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive $127.89 $127.89 OutletPC Buy Toshiba - P300 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $39.88 FREE $39.88 Other World Computing Buy Add Additional Storage Video Card Asus - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Dual Video Card $229.99 $229.99 Amazon Buy Case Thermaltake - Versa N21 Snow ATX Mid Tower Case $52.89 $52.89 OutletPC Buy Power Supply EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply $84.99 $4.99 $89.98 Newegg Buy P.S : Ignore Prices, i will not be buying from PC PartPicker and i will be getting much better deals elsewhere so prices of like the GPU and PSU listed above are irrelevant. CPU/MOBO/Case already bought, and much cheap than listen price. Just letting you know incase listed prices affect build judgement as i saw some were way higher Also keep in mind the white/blue/black theme im kinda going for. mainly just white/clearish and blue. so you know lol
  10. Hello everyone! I just started streaming again on Twitch. Is there anyone that can pop in on my channel and critique it please? I want to make sure it sounds and looks okay. Any suggestion or complaints will be appreciated. *removed* Not sure if I am allowed to post a link because I did not see a "Forum rules" pins to the top of the thread. I use Obs, Blue yeti mic, a pop up green/blue screen, and some florescent lights. Does anyone know of other equiptment (Cheap) or programs I can use too?
  11. Hi, I am new to this community so hello. I am also relatively new to PC building having built my first PC earlier this year. It had the following specs: MoBo: ASUS M5A78l-M/USB3 (Chipset: AMD 760G) CPU: AMD FX-6300 Black Cooling: Stock GPU: ASUS DirectCU ii R9 270X RAM: 2x4 GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 PSU: Corsair CX430 Storage: 1 TB WD Caviar Black (not sure on exact model but its works fine) Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 Display: Dell U2515H (1440p) Not great I know but I am a student with limited budget and new to the whole thing. I have since made a few upgrades to the system in this order: Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (windowed) Cooling: Corsair H90 GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G Storage: added a Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD as my boot drive PSU: Corsair RM750i This has allowed me to have limited overclocking success with my CPU (the MoBo is pretty rubbish for this i think) and generally improved my gaming experience. I want to upgrade my MoBo and CPU i was thinking Skylake so this forces my hand in memory terms too. This is what I had in mind: MoBo: ASUS Pro Gaming Z170 CPU: intel Core i5-6600K RAM: either 2x4GB corsair vengence 2400 MHz or kingston HyperX Fury Black 2133 MHz Please can i have your thoughts on my build and future plans and please give any advice on how you would improve my build in its current form. I predominantly use my PC for studying, gaming and i do a fair amount of photo editing on photoshop and lightroom so please bear this in mind. I don't really want to spend more than £400 ($600, €550). Thanks in advance.

  13. So this is my first build ever and I put it all together on PC Partpicker Last night and a little bit of the day before and I'm wondering how it'll do on games like Skyrim with tons of Graphic Enhancing mods and some silly gameplay mods and a good ENB along with playing games like battlefield 4 at 1080p at around 60 FPS If theres anything you can do to make this build better then please, do so, but PLEASE dont go over 1900 USD or change the color scheme and here are some things I'd also like to keep the same http://pcpartpicker.com/p/KxstYJ Also, what's the best game this can run and at what settings? Color Scheme Blue and Black Case NZXT H440 Monitor any monitor with good resolution over 144hz Mouse I'm right handed but anything nice will work Thanks so much in advance! :-)
  14. Hey guys, This is my first ever build and I am really excited about it but I want to make sure I'm doing it right. I've already read a bunch of the forums and watched a ton of videos but I was looking for advice on my particular build. Main concerns: I was debating on whether or not DDR4 was worth it or not, and I based this build on DDR3 for price reasons. Also worried about AMD vs Intel cpu. Lastly is my graphics card good enough to run my modeling programs and games such as Shadow of Mordor and Skyrim on High graphic settings. Budget: under $1000 Main Use: 3d modeling, (such as Auto-desk Inventor and Revit), video editing / animating, and Gaming Parts list: I already have a case I am re-purposing for my build, monitors, and all peripherals already from my old computer. I plan on adding more memory in the future, and I'm using Windows 10 CPU $96.99AMD FX-6300 CPU COOLER $85.99Cooler Master Glacer 240L MOTHERBOARD $93.78MSI 970 GAMING MEMORY $49.89G.Skill 8GB STORAGE $69.87Samsung 120GB SSD $49.89Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM VIDEO CARD $348.49 *MSI GeForce GTX 970 POWER SUPPLY $93.98 *Cooler Master 650W $888.88SUBTOTAL: Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 15. I'm putting together a gaming & streaming PC for my friend. He's looking for a budgeted PC, but the total cost of my planned build is a bit high, wondering how I can cut down on it a bit, if necessary, without sacrificing much performance. Some things to note: -He wants Intel (afaik), and while more $$$ than AMD, I'd prefer it be Intel, as I'll be helping him to assemble the build, and have no knowledge or experience with AMD socket types, installation, etc... -I've explained to him that the number & types of drives, model of the video card, and whether or not he already has a windows install disk are factors that can possibly cut down on the cost. -I'll be giving him a 650D for his case. -I assume he'll already have at least one 3.5in HDD to use in the new system. I've explained the benefits of having your OS and programs on an SSD, but also that it's not entirely necessary right off the bat, and that upgrading later is always a possibility, even though he'll have to reinstall his OS and everything again. -I have no knowledge of what component streaming high quality gaming relies most on. CPU would be my guess, but not sure. Is this i5 powerful enough?? 16. so yeah title says it I guess... just one last check for the build I'm planning for before I get it, just to see if anybody has more input in it, or if something doesn't look like it fits (not literally), please just tell me... and just a heads up, I'm from the Philippines so just keep in mind that there might be some better choices that you guys would suggest but they might not be as available here as it is wherever you are (like the Hyper 212 EVO) and I'm gonna use this for video editing, gaming, as a media center, and just general productivity. Aim My goal with this is to be able to run most "new" games at high settings at an average of 60 fps. I'm mostly thinking about first person shooters and open world games. I would also like to be able to record/stream and do light editing. 3. Monitors I'm only planning on running the one that is listed. I do want the built in speakers because I'm too cheap to buy some actual speakers, and don't want to have to wear my headphones all the time. 4. Peripherals While criticism is appreciated, if the only reason you're suggesting something else is because you're biased towards it, please keep it to yourself. For the mouse, I've been bobbling between the Rival, the deathadder 2013, and the Corsair M65. For the keyboard, I've been bobbling between the Blackwidow stealth(I don't like loud keyboards), and the APEX raw from steelseries. While the apex raw will be quieter because it's membrane, I always hear people say that you should go with mechanical for gaming. I don't really know anything about mousepads, so I decided to get one of the cheaper options from steelseries, the QCK. 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm currently gaming on a dell inspiron laptop, which in case you hadn't guessed, isn't really the greatest. 6. Extra information I'm planning on getting a custom water cooling loop set up after a while so that I can overclock cpu and gpu.

  19. inb4 comments on why I need 4 GPUs; this will be an Octane Rendering Machine. The title says it all... This is going to be my second watercooled build (my first watercooling build)--I'd like to get as much feedback as possible before I begin building. The tubing size is 3/8" ID/ 5/8" OD, 240MM Rad, 420MM Rad, and a 360 Rad, D5 x Res Combo. I'm mainly curious about my GPU loop, I know it's functional but how much hotter will be loop run with that configuration, versus a typical parallel config, or a series config. Are the temp differences negligible?
  20. Hi guys! I am new here to the forum, but not to the LinusTechTips channel on Youtube. Anyways, I was wondering if you could give me some critique on my pc I want to build. Before you say anything, yes, I actually do have all the money for the build. I've saved it up for the last year and a half. My mom and dad are going to pay for a small part of the build, but I do intend to pay them back. The main reason I want this build is because I currenty use an old Optiplex 745 for video editing and... there isn't really anything else I can do with it. It's soo slow, it takes 2-4 hours rendering a 20 minute video in movie maker at 720p! Now, I do plan on doing a lot of stuff with the new computer. I want to mostly do video editing on Adobe Premiere, use Photoshop and After Affects for drawings and animations etc. I want to be able to use the Dolphin emulator at max settings while recording using Audacity, Dxtory, and a few other windows open. I also wanted to get into gaming because I don't really have an sort of Playstation or Xbox. Plus, I know there are more options in terms of Indie games on the PC. I also wanted to get into programming , to put it plain and simple. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/JurgaBurga/saved/3tbn I just wanted to point a few things out. The reason I have two hard drives is because one (WD Green) is just for mass storage and the other one (WD Black) is for writing video using Dxtory to this hardrive. I decided to get dual monitors and replace my old OEM monitor. I decided to go with cheap IPS monitors, but I've heard pretty good review about these HP monitors and they are light weight, so they are easy to move around. I also decided to get dual monitors so it would make everything more organized when recording or editing videos. The reason I got 32 gigs of memory is because I want to really get into using After Affects and Photoshop. I also like to have a whole bunch of windows open. I would like it if guys could give me your opinions and what you think about this build!
  21. Hi, this is my first time here, I have no idea how to chat or where the correct section to post things is, but I know this is a good place if you want people to critique your build. I had my friend help me put together this pc build for about 1000 bucks... I just want other people to look over it compatibility and see if there are any other things I should change out to get more bang for my buck. Thanks, Here is my list... 22. Hey all! I was just looking for a good few folks that know a lot about this new Ryzen platform to review the build that I came up with. I've double checked the compatibility and all of that good stuff, I would just like some input on whether or not these are good choices for the prices, and if I overlooked anything. I even made sure the RAM was compatible, since there's some confusion about that. This computer is for a friend who is getting into PC gaming and looking to do some content creation as well. Here they are: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6GHz 6-Core CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (AM4 bracket not included, but I'm ordering separately) Motherboard: MSI B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Storage (SSD): Kingston A400 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage (Mechanical): Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Dual Series Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower All of this comes to around $1,300 ordering off of Amazon with my prime account. Like I said, any feedback from you guys would be greatly appreciated! -NexusLeone
