So with Windows 10 updating Cortana is starting to get more and more useful to the point where I didn't disable it when I reinstalled Windows. The one thing that annoyed me the most though was that it forced you to search with Bing on Microsoft Edge. Unsurprising, but still annoying. Anyway there's a way to get around this and search using the browser and search engine of your choice. Step 1: Download SearchWithMyBrowser from their github page and go through the install process. Step 2: Ask Cortana to search something, instead of bringing up Edge, it should bring up a popup that asks you how to open it, click SearchWithMyBrowser and it should open using your default browser. Step 3: So at this step, Cortana still searches with Bing, in order to change that get Chrometana for any Chromium based browser (Chrome, Vivaldi, Opera, etc), with Firefox, it should already be searching with your preferred search engine. So that's it, I hope you guys found this useful!

Hey guys, so when I updated my PC to Windows 10 Creators Update, some got fucked hard. Before I installed it, it wouldnt let me do it from Windows Update, So I had to force update from Windows own site. Now after like 1 hour the freezers completely and I have to force shutdown. Also I have 3 monitors, and when the pc freezers, all screens except 1 gets black. I have also completely reinstalled Wiindows 10 and cleaned my SSD. I have reset my BIOS, Updated all my drivers. Is this hardware because of an stupid windows update? also no RAM leaks, I have ran Windows RAM testing software, no issues found other specs, I7 4770k NON overclocked, GTX 1070 from MSI, NON overclocked 16 GB ram

So I have a Dell Latitude E5430. It worked quite smoothly on Win 10 AE. Boot time was like 15 secs ( I have an Samsung 830 Pro SSD). Apps opened quickly and overall it was quite cool as well. I got the Win 10 CU update notification and so I updated it. After the update I have been facing a couple of drawbacks, any solutions: List of Issues No Windows Ding Sound on changing the volume Overall higher system temps even when idle Boot time is over 1 min App loading times are more Game loading times significantly increased, even with game mode on.(I have turned it off, since) Task Manager takes a really long time to start (10 -15 secs) After every shutdown I get a system error sound, but on checking the error logs there is no entry. My system specs Intel Core i5 3320M @ 2.6GHz 8GB DDR3 @ 1600Mhz 256 GB SSD SAMSUNG MZ7PC256HAFU-000H1 (OEM) Intel HD 4000 I have also attached a CPU Z summary if that helps. SENPAI-PC.txt

I just got a 240 GB SSD, and went to do a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64 on it. I formatted it and deleted the partitions and created a 50GB one for Windows, because that was what people were saying it would be, and I created a new partition for the rest. Then it goes through updates and whatnot, initializing. I checked it out, and over 197Gb were used JUST by system files. I had 20-30 GB left on the drive. Did windows mess up, or is that the actual size of the latest windows update? How can I shrink this with a clean install?

The creators update is failing to install, and it goes back to previous version of windows. The ota update fails every time it tries to upgrade, have differed the update, but its annoying. So I figured a clean install would be easier and obvious fix. The issue i ran into was my restart stopped working. I get a BCD boot error of 0xc000454 every time I restart. The error cant be fixed with all possible repair fixes ( manual and automatic). This is so messed up, its was advertised as a Windows 10 partner device for Creators update. The RoG forums are reporting the same issue. I've tried so much for a week now, I cant seem to find a fix. Any help/ideas would be appreciated. The device I'm referring to ASUS ROG STRIX GL502VS-DB71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz) 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 256 GB PCIE SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB GDDR5 15.6" FHD 1920 x 1080 Windows 10 Home 64-Bit)

So I went to check for updates for Windows and I noticed there was a mention of the "creators update" and I clicked on it and it downloaded the windows 10 installer. It said everything was compatible, so I upgraded. It worked fine for a minute but after about a half an hour it crashed and never booted up again. Is this because of an incompatibility? I'm rocking an i5 760, Rx 470, and 12 GB ddr3.

Hey all, I've been having a fair few issues with my PC recently. I got it a few years ago, but the hardware is still damn good (i5-4460, GTX 960, 16GB RAM etc.) and the PC has been running beautifully, up until about the last week. I installed the Creators Update, and it's all gone downhill from there. The PC seems oddly more unreliable, as well as the extreme lag, that I have never had. Opera takes ages to open now, and the websites take a while to load, as well as closing (it shouldn't take as long as it does). File Explorer takes a while to open, and the logon time is longer too. I have also had games crash a little bit recently, mainly only because I'm running servers etc. So far, I've tried running a Malwarebytes scan, which did nothing, I've done Disk Cleanup, which did nothing, and I also tried reinstalling my GPU drivers (which did nothing, if not making it slower). I just want the speed back, because it really is painful to use my PC now. Any help is appreciated, but I don't want to have to reinstall Windows 10 (I just don't have the time, and I've got 700+GB of programs). Thanks, Alpha.

test system: i5 6500 16GB DDR4 2133 GTX1070 G1 1080p W10 x64 1703 build 15063.13 Creators Update --- game tested: Tomb Raider (2016) DX12 settings used: the results: as you can see, the Game Mode option in the GameDVR does improve the framerate one bit; also, there's some weird fluctuations when the benchmark goes through "geothermal valley" section when having GameMode activated ... hmm so, if it doesn't improve framerate, does it help with CPU usage? the answer will also be .. nope ps: GameDVR does not work on DX11 titles --- game tested: Hitman (2016) DX12 settings used: results: and here's the funny part: turning on GameDVR increases CPU usage, check the trend lines:

So I too jumped on to the Creators Update wagon when I first had the chance to. All is great, though Microsoft did once again ticked some privacy options to ON where I've left them OFF. O well, it's Microsoft, I don't blame them too much for wanting to collect datas. But then this happened: I had a couple of portable softwares for images / PDF editing that had Simplified Chinese in them. I've noticed that some of them became unreadable. I have checked on the system locale and yes it is still set to Simplified Chinese PRC. Anyone knows what is causing these? And anything I can do fix it? Sorry for the long post and any answer is much appreciated!

Ive downloaded the update now on 2 out of 4 of my systems and the update totally trashes all ur settings and sets everything and i mean everything to default even down to video player, internet browser. So people keep this in mind when u download and install. I also recommend running, Do not Spy, Spybot Antibeacon and ultimate windows tweaker after update is installed to disable all the spying stuff on windows 10.

Hello good LTT people: Since I downloaded win 10 creators update, I've had some weird bug happening. About 1 in 6 times when I power up my PC, none of my icons show text, neither in file explorer nor in any other app. Drop down menus are useless in all of my apps and dialogs, and the only thing I can really do to solve it is reboot the PC. Has anyone experienced similar issues? If so, has anyone been able to permanently solve this issue? See the attached image for reference in desktop icons. If it happens again I'll try to get some pics of other programs and menus. (screen cap is all messed up when this bug happens) Cheers!

Hi I just recently updated my computer with the creators update and when I boot it, my WC goes nuts and speeds up to 80%. When I look into my monitoring software, cpu temps randomly jumps between 80C and 40C, which is insane, because I did a lot of 3D renders with my pc, which puts the cpu to 100% load and it never exceeded 70C while oc'ed @4.6 Ghz (6700K). I'm mostly looking for your opinion on what might be causing this, since I don't have time to do proper trouble shooting, for now. I've set my cpu back to its default speed and now, after about 10 mins of the temps jumping between 80C and 25C (while pulling *hmm hmm* 7.4W…), it seems to be normal again. Also, since the update, I noticed that all my licences have been “reseted” as I had to reactivate a lot of my products (mostly windows ones). Could it be a bug linked to the update? Could it be my cpu temps sensor going nuts? Or could it be something else I don't know of? Thanks a lot! Specs linked to the cpu: i7 6700K asus Z-170A EK predator XLC-360 16 Gb 3Ghz DDR4

Has anyone running an SLI setup updated to the Creator's Update yet? I tried it this weekend and it bricked my SLI setup. Device manager was reporting that one of my GPUs couldn't find enough resources to start and the other said it was trying to start a driver different than the one that posted. Nvidia drivers would install, but report that my display was not connected to an Nvidia GPU. Tried deleting all Nvidia drivers, but the GPUs seems to be malfunctioning even with the basic Microsoft Display Drivers. I'm guessing this is more a hardware addressing level problem and either Windows is not cooperating with my mobo BIOS or my VBIOS is not cooperating with Windows anymore. Thoughts? Anyone else run into this? I'm just gonna wait it out as long as I can until I upgrade.

Just had Windows tell me I had an update and needed a reboot(it actually minimized Destiny 2 until I gave it an answer). So I let it do it's thing, and I was hoping I'd get the Fall update with it, and boy did i. When i logged in it had disabled all of my programs that start with windows, and wiped most of the settings clean with them. Google chrome wasn't logged in, neither was Steam, Blizzard/Battlenet, Origin, my displayfusion code was gone (multi monitor support program), etc. Corsair Utility engine, which manages the RGB for my mouse and keyboard was clean, and this is all stuff ive fixed in the first 8 minutes so far. Anyone else get anything like this? Last time I installed a major Win10 update, it failed and i had to reinstall windows entirely. Windows never said i may lose some settings or anything, it said restart now or in 2 hours. I think I'll disable updates and stay on this version until i die.

Just wondering anyone here did a clean install of Windows 10 Creators Update, that's build 1703. After the installation, the initial setup before getting to the desktop the first time, is cringe level over 9000!

Hey guys. I installed the windows 10 creator's update to my system yesterday, played some games and stuff no problem, and today I had an issue with rocket league and my GPU 'not supporting alpha blending'. Some googling told me to reboot and then reinstall drivers it need be except now my PC won't boot up properly. I get my boards BIOS loading screen for a long time sometimes, and sometimes it seems to clear the BIOS and then I get a blank screen. The monitors stay active and the backlight is on, there's just nothing there. Please help! Thanks

Hi, So Microsoft Decided to Download Windows 10 Version 1709 aka The Fall Creators Update. I don't want to Install it because one of my Friends were saying that he was having issues using OBS for streaming etc. Is there any way to stay at 1703 by Deleting all the Downloaded Files or I have to revert back with the Fall Creators Update Installed?
