I don't know exactly where to post this, so feel free to correct me, after reading the entire plan I plan on taking my Chromebook out of it's case and putting it into a PC case, but will run into a few problems. I have posted elsewhere about one, but the rest will be more challenging to find a spot, and more might be found. I want to be able to run open office and other PC programs, but don't want to buy windows, so maybe Linux, but I have never used Linux, so problem one, how do I instal linux. Problem two, I want to overclock it so it will run faster, but don't know how. Heat won't be a problem, I can put a big heat sink and fans to cool it. I also plan on putting in an hard drive, but will need a SATA to USB C adapter. Any suggestions on a good one would be great. I will be powering the Chromebook and drive off of a PSU which is the problem I have in another post. I plan on using the IO daughter board, but don't anticipate any problems from it. The IO on the main board is going to be used for the hard drive and maybe a disk drive because I want one. Don't ask for a specific use, because I don't have one, just general purpose without having to use my new laptop once I get it. This project won't happen for a little while, but I like to know exactly what I will be doing ahead of time. This is my Chromebook: HP 11A G6 EE

Budget (including currency): the lowest price, it just should just be a Ryzen 9 Country: Poland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video Editing, Photo editing, Python, NO gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have a old (I think Intel Core i7 4th or 5th gen) Dell XPS i think 13’’. I am using a MacBook Pro 2018 i7 now, I will probably sell it. So this sounds probably crazy, but I want a old Dell XPS to have a Ryzen 9. Yes, a Ryzen 9. Why I won’t just buy a Ryzen 9 laptop and use it? Because I really love the XPS’s design, the Carbon Fiber looks awesome. I will make a custom cooling solution (probably not watercooling, maybe if there will be some place left), just make some CAD working, I have a Metal cutting service down the street. I also like making things my own. A dell XPS looks something like this: Then it would look something like this (yes, i know the picture looks awful, it’s just made on a iPad in 1 minute) The red lines are RGB strips that I will (maybe) add, for now I don’t like much RGB, just a little. I won’t change anything on top of it (like Keybord, touchpad, screen) I know it won’t be very portable, but I need power in a laptop, I can’t always access a PC. I thought about a Mini ITX motherboard in it, but it’s waaaay too big, and there will be too much thermal output. I am looking for a “cheap” used Ryzen 9 laptop, it can be scratched, the screen could be broken, but the MB should work. I would like a overclockable processor (maybe all R9’s are unlocked? Idk), I know it is hard to make, but i will take it. So, the question is, does anyone have a used Ryzen 9 for sale, or nearby, so I could buy it? Ok, for all you software nerds out there, is this a good idea, or even at all possible?: Having 3 GPU's in a pc, (in my case a VR pc) two of which render content at 4k, and spit it to the ridiculous amount of RAM. (by the time this is a reality, 10,000+Mhz DDR5 will be the norm.) The third, when asked, then frames it up at eye definition, adds color, etc, & spits it to the headset. Would it be easier to go the traditional route, and render each frame separately? How would I go about doing that? Also, if the Render-then-Frame thing will work, will I need a ridiculously high clocked CPU? Obviously, I'll at least need some Epyc or other, (since Threadripper is predicted to go away ) but will it have to have to be clocked at something crazy to keep up with spitting that info at the three GPU's? Not that they'll be on different boards, or anything, I'm just not sure if the clocking will perfectly line up with all those variables. Thanks for your help!

Crazy stupid idea... like all the best ones... It starts with the Startech 35SAT225S3R, which is already unusual. It is a 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch sata RAID adapter. That's right it takes 2 sata 2.5 inch drives and uses an internal RAID controller to connect them to your computer but installed into a single 3.5 inch bay. Nice... make those SSD's and it should have pretty good performance... except for that SATA bottleneck, but who's counting? BUT THAT'S NOT ALL Next comes Startech's 25SAT22MSAT, which is a msata to 2.5 inch sata adapter... and again... it is a dual drive RAID controller... now you see where I am heading. You take 4 mSATA drives and install them into 2 of the mSATA to SATA adapters... both in RAID 0... then.... then you install both of your mSATA adapters into the 3.5 inch RAID adapter.... you now have 4 separate mSATA SSD's installed in dual RAID 0 inside of 1 3.5 inch enclosure... and put that in RAID 0 as well Now benchmark it I am willing to bet you will see a massive improvement of 0% over just a single SSD on SATA. But hey, whoever said computers were about performance. This is about being the first, the one, the only person to ever install 4 SSD's on 1 single SATA connector..... Here is where stupid pays off... the startech adapters are $50 each... you can get 4 mSATA TC-SUNBOW M3 1TB drives for $100 each. So for $550 you can have a 4TB 3.5 inch SSD... that is the exact same price as the WD Blue 4TB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. BUT this one has RAID!!! Hey Linus... I think I found a stupid video... and you can drop this one too

I have a Acer Aspire 7 with only one m. 2 slot with 500gb ssd single module. I would like to extend my onboard store with cheap option instead of shelling out a huge chunk for storage. I would like to add another 500gb to the existing 500gb module in the slot to make 1TB. Is it even possible!? -
I know it may sound dumb, but hear me out, SDs are just like a SSD, but smol, so I bought this 1TB SD card for 5 dollars and Im thinking about installing some games in it like COD Warzone, does the SD card performs worse than a traditional SSD or HDD? and if it does, how worse are we talking about? is it a good idea to install my games on it? (also im moving my videos and my video editing software's cache to the SD card, is it a good idea aswell? pls drop some tips to properly use this SD card) Thank you.

So today I had a magnific idea, it was what if we use computers and let them run youtube videos to generate money for youtubers? Well it doesn't require top hardware so its not that destructive, you can use old hardware then build it into a pc, install linux, go to youtube, create a reproduction list with 200 videos of LTT then activate the loop function and let it run. The last step its repeating with more PC's at the end you have a large money generator for the youtube channel you want. Hardware could be like some old core 2 duo with ssd. (Take this seriously not shitpost)

Ok so a week or two back I stumbled upon some sweet looking in desk pc's. Now, I really enjoying building both computers and things like desks so I thought why not? I've been meaning to do a new build and haven't been able to get to it, so this is going to be the new project. Finally yesterday I was able to head down to Lowes to pick up the materials. I decided to go with 3/4 inch MDF due to its strength and it's ease of use. I also bought a 18 x 24 piece of acrylic for the window. So now here's the thing, the 4 x 8 sheet of MDF has to if in the 3 x 5 bed of my car. As you can imagine....it didn't really work. The final result being the sheet of wood half hanging off the car, strapped down by twine and bungee cords. This huge piece of wood is like a sail, and I'm trying not to get blown of the highway by it. I'm almost home, after driving 45 down the highway with my flashers on and what do I see ahead. Police check point. As if this shitty drive couldn't get worse. So I hang a hard u turn and head back in the other direction...causing the wood to slide out of the back. Finally after my 3 hour journey, I had made it home with the supplies, completing the first step of my build. Hoper you enjoyed, I'll be posting random updates on it so make sure to keep up.

The Silverstone SST-SX800-LTI is a fully modular 800W SFX PSU that is rated at an efficiency rating of 80+ Titanium! Crazy and seems stupid, but I do actually have a use for this. I want to make a custom mATX case capable of running 2 GPUs in SLI/Crossfire that really puts the "micro" in the name. The case is designed to be 1 foot tall, 1 foot deep, and 140mm thick. To accomplish this, as you can imagine, I need a small PSU. That's where this PSU comes in. Given such a low demand the only seller I was able to find is eBay. I have several questions and concerns regarding this power supply. One of the questions I have is, well, is it any good? the SX 700W was rated a Tier 4 on the PSU Tier List but given this is a 800W and a Titanium it might be higher rated. Another question I have, what kind of power draw does two of the most power hungry GPUs in SLI/Crossfire draw? Should I stick with an 800W or would dropping down to a 750W or even 700W be fine? Lastly, overall, what SFX PSU should I buy, Im interested in one rated well and, more importantly, one that can supply power demands of pretty much anything I can throw at it.

So, my girlfriend and I broke up today. She was over at my house, we got into an argument. Then while I was upstairs, she left, sending a text that we were done. I didn't realize it at the time, but now I can no longer find my MacBook Air; it seems to have gone missing. I've already locked it, so once it gets connected to wireless it can't be accessed, but I'm worried she might have destroyed it in a fit of rage. If she hasn't destroyed it, is there anything else I can do to prevent her from doing anything to my files? Better yet, any advice on getting it back?

So I got this completely transparent, sugar-free water based syrup. It looks like transparent (not opaque) dyed liquid, except it has the smell and taste of strawberries or raspberry. It's almkst as light and fluid as normal water. I'm quite certain there's nothing organic in it. Do you think it would survive in a waterloop on a 7700k, or would it break down, maybe destroy the copper or the tubes? I'm gonna take a look at the ingredients tomorrow. I want red fluid in the loop, but I'd prefer to avoid spending 20 usd for a bottle of premix or dyes. If you know of some alternatives with good lifetime, please share, I'm curious.

Just an idea I had for a project maybe, if I could afford it. If there was a way to make it work, would you guys use a desk that has a built in tilt function similar to an up-desk? Obviously there would have to be some part that stays level, but I wouldn't mind being able to recline in my desk and have everything match it.

So I've done some crazy upgrades over the years but ones in a blue moon one comes around that knocks me on my ass. A customer came in and ordered an ASUS Strix GTX1080ti, EVGA 600 Watt PSU and a new case (Corsair 200R) with the intent to have use move his old P8P67-M Pro Motherboard, 8GBs of DDR3-10600 and balling i5-2400 into. As an aside he also had a failing HDD full of Viruses that we had to clone then clean to get working... WTF? That's over $1,000 of Hardware plus the Labor charge he's paying for the work... The word Bottleneck is REAL with this one wholly balls!!! He said he's going to try out some VR stuff and his tech friend told him he needed a better GPU so he went with the best. When we told him he should upgrade his whole system and get a new CPU, Motherboard and RAM he said he wasn't allowed to spend any more. If he had an i5-2500k with good cooling to OC the balls off of it he'd still be choking the 1080ti...

Hi! Had this crazy idea. Started from Helsinki, Finland and travelled to LMG HQ. No one was home (it was a sunday) but atleast I got to see the front door and Linus's office from the upstairs window, so I feel I almost met him! I dared to park on their spot too! 7500 km travelled and didn't get to see my heroes! I'll be in Vancouver until the 24th, so I'll just miss LTX If the guys at HQ are Ok with it, I'd like to drop off my gift at the front door at office hours my self, but I don't know if they'd rather me just send it via UPS or something. Hi there, so i bought some led strips a year ago, used them around my setup and i wanted to use them inside my pc. But something weird happens everytime i put them in. Before when i had my gt 640, my monitor would get a lot of horizontal lines. Upgraded to a 1060 to see if it would fix itself. While i see no horizontal lines, my monitors just rage quit and turn off and on until fully off. Computer still thankfully works, but gotta ask, why and how does my led strip do this? Also when i plug my led strips into power socket and i put maybe 17cm onto the case without turning on led strips, they light up dimmed. Got my led strips from a well known danish hardware store, don't know where my led strips are made from though. 2nd question: Does my led strips affect my wires around my setup? I have a high end client wanting something out of control for his Master Closet! He wants 18 projectors that will all work in unison 99% of the time, but here's the kicker. He wants to be able to use each one separately as well! These projectors will be rear firing and shooting to his walls and ceiling. He's going to walk into his room and say "I'm in the jungle" and the room will turn into the jungle, speakers and all. What I need to do is build a rig that can handle 18 1080P projectors as one unit or 18 separate ones. This is why it has to come out of one tower. I was thinking something similar to Linus' video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lThX7UovKCc) but, this isn't a gaming CPU and we're using 18 projectors... How about an Intel Xeon processor and 4 GeForce 2080ti and 1 1080ti cards, ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS (or similar).... Or am I way off track for something like that? Thanks for the advice!

So awhile back I was talking to someone about buying this laptop off him. All went well, we talked about the device ( it had a scratch on it) and was happy to go ahead with the sale. It takes me 2 hours to get to the city where he located, halfways driving there he sends me a message saying it's off! I tried ringing him he turned off his phone...soo at this point am really annoyed driving back after wasting money on fuel and tolls. Then at 5 am I get this lengthy response message and yeah here it is...
