Microsoft had a misconfiguration, according to some sources for the last 2 years with their Cosmos DB. The misconfiguration lead to researchers discovering that they could access other clientele databases (read/write/delete). Some list of partners include, CocaCola, Symantec, Citrix, and Liberty Mutual CISA is recommending "customers to roll and regenerate their certificate keys". Microsoft only contacted a smaller subset of customers, but the researchers and CISA are recommending every user of it do it. https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/technology/researchers-cybersecurity-agency-urge-action-by-microsoft-cloud-database-users/articleshow/85738170.cms Other sources: https://us-cert.cisa.gov/ncas/current-activity/2021/08/27/microsoft-azure-cosmos-db-guidance https://www.theverge.com/2021/8/27/22644161/microsoft-azure-database-vulnerabilty-chaosdb https://www.wiz.io/blog/chaosdb-how-we-hacked-thousands-of-azure-customers-databases [This is the researchers blog] https://gotcosmos.com/about/customers I'm surprised that MS is only contacting a few of the customers (30% apparently), instead of everyone. With that said as well, this is why I never liked using shared cloud type services at work. It also makes me wonder if there could have been a compromise without MS knowing from a year or two back. I'm actually also surprised that MS only issued $50,000 for this kind of vulnerability...given that this could have been used to essentially compromise some major clients of theirs (or rather the databases that are stored on Cosmos). Eventually one of these kinds of exploits will be a black hat who discovers it instead of a researcher and the world will wake up to a very different environment (I would hate to think at how many people's sensitive information are likely in the database, given how many companies are utilizing it)

It has been a long time since the last time I have showed off a build log and in the meantime my rig has been upgraded several times. Still, as it is now in a state that I am quite satisfied with and am not planning on upgrading anything else in the immediate future, I have decided to finally share it with you, the members of the forum. As I am certain there might be questions why I have purchased a particular part over another, please do keep in mind the build actually started this time last year, meaning February 2020 and was completed in early November 2020 when I finally managed to get an RTX 3080. This is the reason why I don't have a Ryzen 5000 processor. Latest specs: - Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X overclocked to 4.3GHz - Cooling: 1x EK 360mm radiator, 1x EK 120mm radiator, EK Velocity CPU block, XSPC Photon 270 V2 pump/res combo unit, various EK fittings and 13mm flexible tubing - Graphics Card: EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 - Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VI Extreme X370 - RAM: 16GB (4x4GB Apacer 2666MHz) overclocked to 3933MHz CL20 and cooler with OCZ Reaper HPC Heatsinks - Power Supply: Corsair RM1000i - Case: Cooler Master Cosmos C700P Black Edition February 2020, the motherboard in my last rig (ASRock X99m) stopped recognizing all of the memory dimm slots. Instead of buying another X99 board, I decided to simply build a new rig and sell off whatever parts I got left from the old one. Orders were made and parts started to arrive a week later and the assembly begins. By the end of February all parts had arrived, including the vertical GPU bracket from Phanteks and at that point the rig was complete and functional. Yet, the case was so big and with so much potential that I wasn't completely happy with the end result. Even with the E-ATX Crosshair VI Extreme it still looked quite empty and sad. At that point I was thinking of swapping the small 120mm Arctic Liquid Freezer, which I had leftover from my previous build for a 360mm AIO. Not only would that have looked a ton better, but it would allow me to overclock the 3900X to the fullest. I was looking at the Arctic Liquid Freezer 360mm, but as at that time the human malware had proliferated all over the place and shipments were halted it was out of stock. The prices of other components were also getting higher, due to the rising demand and at the same time scarcity. At that point I was doing some math and thought it was no longer going to be that much cheaper getting and AIO instead of a customer loop, which turned out not to be the case... July 2020, decided to go ahead and get liquid cooling gear, but again, due to the human malware even that was easier said than done. None of my local retailers had what I wanted / needed in stock. Therefore, I decided to purchase everything from the manufacturer directly, in this case I ended up going with EK. They had free shipping on orders over a certain amount, had what I needed and were guaranteeing delivery in less than 5 business days. The pump/res combo from XSPC I got from a local classifieds site, was never used, still in original packaging and was dirt cheap. While browsing in that site, I also found new in box steering wheel and pedal set from Logitech and got that as well. I was stuck working from home anyway so wanted to have something to keep me busy and entertained. November 2020, I finally managed to get an RTX 3080. The EVGA XC3 wasn't my first choice but was very close to MSRP and I got the new Call of Duty game as a bundle. That was also the month I got interested in memory overclocking so I got some cheap Apacer sticks 4x4GB with standard 2666MHz and also bough some cheap used OCZ DDR2 RAM with the nice Reaper HPC heatsinks, which were designed to handle about 2.1V. I harvested the heatsinks from the DDR2 and put them on the new memory which was a bare pcb only. This is how my rig looks now. I don't have nay plans for immediate improvements on it. Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Cooler Master is celebrating their 25th year anniversary and to do that, they are releasing their 25th anniversary edition of their Cosmos II case. The Cosmos II 25th anniversary will is the same exterior design as the standard Cosmos II, but with a black and aluminum color scheme, a tribute to their original Cosmos. There are some updated designs to this case and now it has Blue ambient LED lighting as well as tempered glass side panels. What's great about the tempered glass side panels is, Cooler Master is also planning to sell them as separated components, so current Cosmos II owners can purchase it and give their case a update. The case will be displayed at this years Computex, which starts on May 30, 2017 to June 3, 2017. They are planning to release the case at the end of June 2017 in Europe and has a MSRP of 349 Euros. https://www.techpowerup.com/233592/cooler-master-announces-cosmos-ii-25th-anniversary-edition-case

I recently tried out a friends Rift S over the weekend and I'm quickly learning that that was a mistake on my part seeing as I know am selling off my stockpiled hardware to get the funds for a VR setup. I didn't have any complaints with the Rift S while I played (roughly 2 hours or so in one go). No motion sickness, eye strain, or tracking issues. I was pleasantly surprised considering a lot of what I've read about the potential horrors that VR can be sometimes. I at first wanted to get the Rift S until I remembered that there was a headset that peaked my interest a while back that was still unreleased: the Cosmos. As far as I know it has a higher resolution and refresh rate (90Hz I think?). I have read that the Cosmos is a bit of a sh*tshow in terms of its software and I've seen some people say that the tracking is awful and their headset frequently complains about the room being too dark. These issues coupled with the 699 price tag makes me hesitant to pull the trigger. Additionally, I'm not sure if either of these two are really the best options. The inside out tracking sounds fantastic for me since I'm not exactly keen on mounting sensors around my room, although I do know that it would offer better tracking. All in all, I dont mind spending ~700 bucks on the Cosmos, so long as its the best option for that price. I've heard the Index is far and away the kind at the moment, but they're not exactly easy to find as well as the additional 300 dollars. On the other hand, I could get the Rift S for 399 and use that extra 300 dollars for games and other upgrades. I am a confused man in need of some serious help! As always, thanks in advance guys

Hello everyone! I hope I am posting in the right section as this is my first post on this forum. I'm also at my first PC build and I probably should have gone for simpler components, less RGB but...2018... why even bother building one if there isn't RGB, right? So here it comes! I am using the CoolerMaster Cosmo c700p for the case and the ASUS ROG STRIX z370-e for the motherboard. The case has, on the front I/O panel, two buttons, one for RGB control, one for fan control. There are 3 options for the RGB control: Cycle - goes through all the colors Static - you select one color and it sticks to it M/B - you control the color by software - I used Aura Sync to try and get a nice effect What happens is ...the M/B option acts funny... I have tried calibrating via AURA SYNC- red works okay, green works okay but when 'blue' comes up, the case actually lights up in purple. Also, I have tried some breathing effects selecting blue for the color. When it "breathes in", the case goes blue but when it "breathes out" the case turns red, instead of turning completely off. I was thinking to purchase a random RGB strip just to test whether the MB is faulty or the case(the rgbs on it) is but maybe someone can recommend a different troubleshooting option. To be noted- one of the LEDs on the front panel(the ones indicating the fan speeds) is faulty. I have emailed support and they said they would send over a replacement for the whole front I/O. Just saying that.. I don't know how their assembly process goes or how to properly troubleshoot an RGB strip for that matter xD.. but there is a possibility that they made some mistakes when putting the case together. All colors work fine when I cycle through them by using the other two options (Cycle, Static). So maybe it's the little control hub for the case fans and RGB.. or the motherboard rgb header? The system works perfectly otherwise. No issues at all with any other component or software. For the software, I am using Corsair's Utility Engine...software, don't remember what it's called and the ASUS Aura Sync. Other components: Intel i7-8700k Corsair Vengeance RGB ram Corsair H115i pro AIO cpu cooler (rgb too) Samsung 960 PRO nvme ssd - no rgb here haha What could be the cause of this? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Okay so I'm going to pick up a system from a guy on CL and I think it might be an interesting build if I can get some good ideas. So essentially it's a Cooler Master Cosmos 1000, i7-950, ASUS P6X58 board, and an old Corsair TX-750. I know that the Cosmos cases are huge and expensive and it seems like this one might make for an interesting build. I'm getting all this stuff real cheap so I am open to putting money into it.

resolution, framerate of 4:3 shows from the old days, like original Cosmos
Guest posted a topic in Displays
Whats the resolution of, say the original Cosmos: A Personal Voyage? I found many places on the net where it says its 480 vertical lines. And just as much where it says its 384 vertical lines. And one place i found say its 528 or something. Regarding the resolution - I think this should be more talked about, we need to develop new standards to keep supporting the older content as best as possible. (Talking about vertical res, not asking for 4:3 to come back, 21:9 is awesome) My issue here is that i am trying to know whats the real resolution height, so i can look for a monitor which will evenly scale those pixels and NOT blur it out. Also, found many places where the framerate is said to be 23.976, and many places say 29,97. Framerate is not an issue tho, as future freesync displays will be able to sync up perfectly to any framerate of video content. -
Cosmos is just a few days away staring Neil degrasse Tyson aka the most badass astropsysicst ever. He is the true successor to the great Carl Sagan. Who's body is ready for this adventure?

http://www.cosmosontv.com/ I've been watching this on Vudu. Even though it's a little bit more theatrical than I would particularly like, it's nice to see a series on television that has actual scientific knowledge. Unfortunately, a lot of what has been shown on the History Channel, for example, is nothing more than conjecture and conspiracy theories. I especially enjoy it because it was my very close second favorite subject in school. Grasping some of the more complex aspects of it was not one of my strong suits. Neil deGrasse Tyson does a pretty decent job with this series. If you have not watched it yet, you should. If you are the least bit interested in science, the series is pretty awesome so far.

Today I decided to take one of my SSDs to use on my laptop. While I was doing that I decided that's finally time to do some light modding to my Cooler Master Cosmos 1000, to improve cable management and also to clean up some of the older hardware inside. Bear in mind that this is one of the most horrible cases when it comes to cable management. There is only 6-7mm behind the motherboard tray so everything must be as flat as possible or I wont be able to close the side panel. Original system specs: MBO: ASUS Rampage IV Gene X79 CPU: i7 3930K 4.4Ghz CPU Cooler: Corsair H80 GPU: MSi GTX 770 Lightning Edition 1333MHz / Memory: 8GHz RAM: 16GB Patriot Viper 1600Mhz SSD: 2x Samsung 830 Series 256GB (RAID 0) Hard Drive: WD 750GB Blue Drive Power Supply: Cooler Master ProM 1000W Case: Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 Windows 8 Pro 64bit Newly bought parts: Corsair H110 Corsair 350D Window Version ASUS ROG MARS GTX 760x2 Project Isi specs: MBO: ASUS Rampage IV Gene X79 (LGA2011) CPU: i7 3820 4.5Ghz (1.35V) CPU Cooler: Corsair H110 (pull) GPU: ASUS ROG MARS GTX 760x2 RAM: 16GB Patriot Viper 1600Mhz SSD: Samsung 830 Series 256GB (Internal) HDD: WD 750GB Blue Drive (Internal) HDD: WD 1500GB Blue Drive (External) HDD: WD 1000GB Blue Drive (External) Power Supply: Cooler Master ProM 1000W Case: Corsair 350D Window Version Windows 8 Pro 64bit UPDATE 2: Let the work begin! First thing is to get all the stuff needed for my little project. Taking the graphics card out for a tune up Here I'm painting the blue LEDs on the back of the PCB with MOLOTOW ink. Doing some modding to the GPU Reactor Cover. Now only the MSI logo will light up. It will look pretty sweet. Taking out the power supply for cleaning. OMG it's so dusty... Time for a drink The fan looks as good as new. The power supply is finally clean and dry. It's ready to be reassembled again and put into the system. I made a small hole in the metal cover so that front USB can pass behind the motherboard tray. I melted some part of the top plastic shroud so the cables won't get caught in it. Let's see how that will fit. End result - looking good My own creation - a custom molex cable. It will eliminate some of the cable mess behind the motherboard. I just hope it works... The SSD is mounted again in its perfect place. Cable management looks tight so for Everything is back in the case and in its place. Graphics card is looking so good with the red MSI Logo. A final glamor shot from the front of the rig. I was thinking of making the window on the side panel tinted. Do you think that will be fine or it's not a good idea? I wanted to buy some carbon fiber to wrap the black accents on the outside of the case, but I didn't find any. Anyhow I hope that you enjoyed the pics and let me know what you think of my build.

Hi! This case is HUGE! So is the number of cables connected to the front panel that controls the fans and LED lights inside. I'm pretty sure I've not managed to connect all those cables in the right way...I need some assistance with that. The user's manual did not help me at all... I've posted the same question on the Clube do Hardware forum (the brazilian twin of Hardware Secrets). There are some pics of my rig too: http://forum.clubedohardware.com.br/gabinete-cosmos-ii/1035760 Yes, I know the CPU fan is looking backwards, but I've already fixed it.
