Hello, I recently purchased a few parts for my new gaming PC going forward. The particulars are as listed here: Intel i7-9700k (running at stock per BIOS defaults) Asus Z390-A Prime motherboard Corsair Vengeance LPX 4x8gb DDR4 (see below for a more detailed explanation) nVidia GTX 970 FTW+ (carried over from previous PC, not yet installed in this build) Creative X-Fi Titanium PCI-E (carried over from previous PC, not yet installed in this build) eVGA 850G5 PSU Cooler Master HAB XB Evo This build began nearly a month ago with the first batch of CPU/mobo/memory/case. After a night of seemingly fine performance, I woke up the next morning to a mobo refusing to post no matter what I did (even after testing individual DIMMs and clearing the CMOS). I assumed I had gotten a bad mobo and sent it back along with the CPU and memory, as I wasn't entirely certain what had gone wrong (though I still believe the mobo had simply died on me). This takes us to a few days ago when I received another CPU, motherboard, and 4 sticks of Corsair 8gb memory (along with a brand new PSU just to better my odds since the old one is growing long in the tooth). Seeing as the first build went so poorly, I decided to exercise far more caution this time. I installed just the CPU and memory into the motherboard and setup a simple test bench atop the motherboard box to run Memtest86. We got errors with 4 sticks of 8gb at stock 2133mhz speeds, so I split them up into their respective sets and ran tests again. One set continued to throw up errors, while the other did not (aside from in the hammer tests, which I've learned happen to just about everyone regardless). I put the confirmed bad set aside and continued running tests on the "healthy" set at its rated speed of 2666mhz (using XMP profile #1). We got errors again. Irritated that this is happening at all given the care I've put into the whole project, I then started pumping some voltage into the set. My reasoning was that the motherboard could potentially be dipping its voltage delivery during the tests and causing errors. I started very lightly at first, only increasing the DIMM voltage by 0.00625 per round of tests. Got errors all the way up to 1.25v, which is where I stopped due to fear and uncertainty about how much these DIMMs could take. I then tried running some tests with XMP profile #2, which set the same frequency, timings, and voltage as #1 but without automatic adjustments made by the BIOS. Still got errors, even at 1.25v. Having read how sketchy XMP can be for some people, I tried entering everything in manually (frequency, timings, and voltage). Errors up to 1.25v. At this point, I've now been running tests for a couple days and have grown quite frustrated. I heard that BIOS updates can result in better stability and can potentially stop errors. Updated to the most recent BIOS and there was no change, regardless of whether I used XMP or entered things manually (again only up to a voltage of 1.25). I'm beginning to lose my patience and am considering sending everything back again for another try (only with an entirely different motherboard and brand of memory). I could use some advice before going through all the hassle of going through the RMA process again... Should I bother increasing the voltage anymore and would it be safe to do so? If so, how high can I go without definitely killing the DIMMs? Should I bother loosening the timings for the DIMMs below their rated values (IE going from 16-18-18-35 to 17-18-18-36)? I'd hate for that to pass and essentially be forced to settle for substandard performance. Is there any way to quickly determine whether it is the motherboard without just ordering another set of memory and trying that? Since the first board I got was bad, I figured this one could be too? What do y'all think I should do? As of this post I am trying the set out at a lower clock speed of 2400mhz to see it'll pass. I'll let you know what happens. This has been such a frustrating experience and I don't know whether to blame ASUS for another bad mobo, Corsair for not testing their sticks, or both. Thanks for reading. EDIT: The supposedly "good" sticks error at 2400mhz with their rated timings of 16-18-18-35 and a voltage 1.20. EDIT #2: For the heck of it, I re-ran the "good" sticks at default speeds again and now they are spitting out errors, even though they went through 4 passes just fine before. I even cleared the CMOS, re-seated the sticks, and switched their positions (also note that they are indeed in slots A2-B2, as recommended by the mobo). Still getting errors. This means both kits are spitting out errors regardless of frequency, timing, and voltage. What are the odds of both being bad? Probably another bunk mobo. Contacting ASUS, but will probably RMA again.

Hi, My system has following specs: - CPU: 2600X - MOBO: MSI Gaming pro carbon X370 (I'm on the latest bios 7A32v1NV) - GPU: ASUS GTX 1070 - RAM: 4x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHZ (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16) off which: -2x8GB Samsung K4A8G085WB-BCPB -2x8GB Hynix H5AN8G8NAFR-TFC Context: I build my system originally with 16GB Vengeance ram (the Hynix version). I could run XMP on 3200MHZ, without any problems. In my dad's new system I used the same Ram-kit as in mine, (his system is having some RAM hiccups as well), long story short, I put his RAM-kit in my system. After the installation of my dad's RAM-kit in my system, I saw that his kit uses Samsung B-dies where mine uses Hynix AFR chips. Problem: When I wanted to put the XMP profile on again in the BIOS, the system power cycled and went back to the "default" 2133mhz. I tried different timings and voltages that I found on the internet, but the highest speed on which the computer would not power cycle and boot is 2800MHZ (16-18-18-38 at 1,35V) I tried DRAM Calculator in an attempt to find stable timings, however the two memory chips give two different results, so I don't really know how to "combine" the two results in a working fashion. (I tried the kits separately and they do work on 3200MHZ XMP, when they are not mixed). As attachment, I provided Thaiphoon burner results and the DRAM calculator results I got. Does anybody have any ideas to get the ram stable at 3200Mhz? Kind regards, Andreas ramsamsung.html ramhynix.html

System Specs: Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.2Ghz base clock 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM, supposed to be clocked at 3000Mhz SanDisk SSD Plus 120GB SSD Gigabyte GTX 1060 3GB Been building this PC today, installed windows 10 and drivers etc without any problems, until I found that Windows was detecting 16GB of ram, but only 4GB was useable?? I checked the BIOS and apparently the ram is underclocking too, from 3000Mhz down to 2133Mhz Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Hey guys, Can't figure this one out... Specs: Ryzen 7 1700 Asus Prime B350 Plus Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000Mhz 2x8Gb DDR4 - CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 EVGA 600BQ PSU Gigabyte GTX1080 Windforce Sandisk SSD Plus 240Gb Freshly installed Windows 10 latest build with all updates complete. Graphics and audio drivers up to date. Updated chipset and bios via Asus Ai Suite. Symptoms: There were no evident issues at first I even managed to play 4+ hours of Player Unknown's Battlegrounds perfectly fine. I installed a for monitoring programs and that's when the BSOD started occurring, although it could just be a coincidence. The first few BSODs stated bad pool header I believe. I was doing windows updates while playing battlegrounds so I assumed I should just let them finish and the issue would go away. The BSOD now are only memory management errors. I've since uninstalled every non microsoft, nvidia and realtek program. Still BSODs every 5 minutes or so. One thing to note is everything is currently at stock clock speeds with the exception of the RAM. It's being clocked at 2133Mhz by the MOBO. If I choose higher clock it fails to stick. I have read that changing timing and voltage could help, but I don't really think this is the issue. I could be wrong though. Anyone have any bright ideas as to what is going on here? Hardware tests across the board A-OK. I can reinstall windows if I must but I want that to be the last resort. I can post mem dumps if anyone needs them or any other resources. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey folks, I can't get my ram to run at 2666MHz, only 2400MHz. I have an ASRock AB350M motherboard (the ASRock website lists 2667 as the supported speed for my CPU Ryzen 1400 clocked to 3.8GHz at 1.385 volts EVGA 600 Watt PSU 80+Bronze GTX 970 Windforce (running at stock speeds). 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX Black, PC4-21300 (2666), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 16-18-18-35, XMP 2.0, 1.2V I've gone into the bios multiple times and the option is there, I select the speed I'm after, save the settings but it boots at stock speeds, far from the 2666 I'm after. If anyone can help fix this I'd be delighted. As a side note, all my drivers and other software is up to date on all devices.

I have a question about my ram stick, is the Corsair vengeance lpx 3000 16gb ddr4 compatible with my motherboard and cpu my is motherboard is msi z370 gaming plus and my cpu is intel core i7-8700k?

I picked up an Asrock X370 Killer SLI during the cyber monday sales. It was a good deal with rebates $110 off regular price. I upgraded to the x370 from an Asus Prime B350 Plus. I wanted to play more with overclocking my 1600. I have a 16gb kit of Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 it worked just fine at 2933mhz in the Prime B350 but in the X370 when I set xmp to 2933 the system reboots there are 3 short beeps then it power down for a couple seconds then powers back up, it does this 2 more times then posts and boots into windows. Hwinfo reports 2933mhz, the bios reports and the system works. If the system is shut down for any length of time or there is a windows 10 update it goes through the whole process all over again. That a long post process to go through If I set the ram to 2666mhz I get no issues with reboots. Doesn't matter if the cpu is overclocked or set at stock it still happens. I'm assuming its a matter of finding the right timing settings but I really have no idea where to start hoping someone out there has had the same issue with this board and ram and can guide me to a solution. On another note this is the 3rd AM4 board I have worked with so far the other being the Asus ROG B350-F and the entry level or "cheaper" Prime B350=Plus appears to have the best memory compatibility so far that I have seen. I am running the latest bios P3.40 I have tried the ram installed in slots A1&B1, but the manual says to use A2&B2 so that is how they are setup currently. The QVL for this board is very short, and old. This is my first Asrock board
