Hello and thanks for reading im building my 1st computer in over ten years and alot has changed since i last go my head in and built a rig from ground up im looking at spending about £1200 extra and no room in the budget for any more ive already picked out some parts i would like to use but need help, with mainly the motherboard, already ive brought a corsair 750 modular powersupply and ordered a Corsair carbide air 540 ( an older case but i love the look of it) i would like to have in this system, but im very open to changing things out if people think there is somthing better out there at the same price point: a samsung 750evo 500gb sata drive £129.99 or an equlivant m.2 around the same price ( just for my os and reg games a toshiba 3tb 7200 hdd £79.99 (2 more might be added at a later date) intel i7 7700k £330 ( i will be over clocking) 16gb of ballistix sport ddr4 ram £145 Asus gtx1060 Rog Strix 6gb £299.99 (prices off amazon.co.uk) i would of liked it water cooled even if it was just and aio system and i have been trying to decided between msi z270 m7 or the asus strix z270e both are good boards from what i can see the asus board is cheaper and would match the gpu but the msi has more fetures and some pre installed oc profiles to keep the wife happy it will need to have rgb lighting in and needs to be easy to turn off when its not in use this will be used for gaming and eventuly upgraded to a 1080 (just need to save some more funds but have 2 kids that need shoes, like all the time) i will but running it on my current moniter a lg 21:9 with the addition of 2 samsung 19" (older dvi) moniters. this system will also be used for some light programing as im getting back in to it and also some 3d renderings that my wife will be doing i would very much like some feed back, comments on what to change, which motherboard to get and if there is any major changes that would be better or cheaper

On the Corsair Air 540, is it fine to have a power supply such as the Corsair HX850i side ways because of the case? I know that power supplies such as the Corsair HX850i blow air out.

So, I'm planning on building a Midplate for my Corsair Carbide Air 540 which has notoriously hideous Hard Drive hot swaps on bottom. Plan is either to remove the swap bays altogether and replace them with the midplate or build on top of the hard drives. I reckon removing the bays will be only option to make it clean. Who uses HDDs on 2018 on gaming machine anyhow? Instead of boring plain midplate or one with graphics, I'm going to build one with infinity mirror. We already have Cases with Infinity mirrors on the exterior, so why not add them inside too! ( It's bigger on the inside! - Doctor Who) And since regular LED lights are boring, and we all hate having different LED systems to control our legion of various LEDs, Addressable LEDs are must for more effects I'm still in planning stages of the whole thing (expecting to build this within 2 weeks now) Materials needed: Glass option A: Regular Glass mirror, 2mm x 370mm x 200mm One-Way Mirror Glass 3mm x 370mm x 200mm Totals up to 5mm width from glass, most likely significantly better optical quality. Acryl option B: Plexiglass Mirror 3mm x 370mm x 200mm Plexiglass Spy Mirror (one-way mirror etc, naming varies) 3mm x 370mm x 200mm Totals to 6mm width from Acryls, probably not as good as Glass option would be. Led Strip: Corsairs Addressable LEDs, controlled by Lightning Node Pro or commander Pro I realise this is just one LED option, I just happen to have ML120/ML140 Pro RGBs in my case so I have the controller ready for them. Alternatively someone with newer motherboard could use other strips which plug straight to Mobos own addressable RGB headers ( I'm not using "normal" RGBs on my project, so there's that ) Led Profile: Had some profile and diffuser as leftovers from other project i've done, will see if I can use these for this with ease. Diffuser might actually just ruin the effect, but i'm going to test it with and without it. If it works I'll just paint the profile black. Superglue, Hot Glue or some regular silicone sealant for assembly. Depends on glass vs acryl too. Alternatively with acryl even screwing the whole thing together would be an option for possible future disassembly needs. Total pricing currently is 65€/$70 USD for the acryl or glass option and some 35€/$40 USD for the RGB leds adding up to 110€/$130 USD ---------------------- Current stage on project: RGB strips have been ordered, arriving next week. Looking for different sources/shops for the mirrors, current ones that I've found are pretty even on the pricing. Local glass shop would take ~65€/$70 for the glass variants, whereas the Acryl from online shop would be ~65€ with shipping. Debating wheter I should get glass or acryl, wondering about the optical qualities but for project like this the difference is minimal. I reckon the deciding factor will be being able to build this as thin as possible since the space is actually limited up to a point and if I find cheaper sources for the acryl or glass, price obviously. Anything I've missed, forgotten, thoughts about the whole project as whole, tips?

Hey guys, what is my complete system worth? http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/DWhybv It's overclocked to 4.4Ghz stable, windows 10 + linux on a crucial m500 256GB SSD, the only things different is that I currently have the noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler on it, but I want to keep that for another build, so will put a new 212 evo on it instead, and I couldn't find the PSU on PCpartpicker, so out the closest I could.. mine is actually the L8 730W semi-modular and I'll include a dvd writer if the buyer wants it, I can't remember which brand it is as it's in a box right now.. I have a bd writer on mine at the moment that I am keeping. Parts are approx 20 months old which are the mobo/cpu and M.2 SSD... the rest are newer, except the PSU which is almost 4 years old, but still going strong with no problems. RAM and case are not even a year old. So what do you think?

From the title what would be best for maximum air flow? This is my fist time build and regardless of how Noctua fans looks, after research they are the best in my eyes, so I'm sticking with Noctua. I’ve already bought 6 NF-S12A PWM cause it’s the best for case ventilation, but after reading some forums I’m having some doubts and maybe should of gone with 2 NF-A14 as intake instead? because of the “low-restriction dust filter” on the Corsair Air 540. The build inside the case will have an Asus x99 Rampage V Extreme, i7 5820k with Noctua NH-D15s, 1TB SSD and a Gigabyte 980ti Windforce Xtreme not planning on SLI, well maybe in the future. Just to add i don't mind the NF-P12 fans either, just stuck with SP or AF. Thanks. P.s. Really need Linus to do an in depth video regarding different Noctua fans, if he has time he could do tests when facing against different scenarios, like fan filters and open spaces to see if there is a big difference between stactic pressure or air flow fans. I know Linus is a "Fan" ;-) of Noctua.

Hi Everyone, I have a system that is currently very difficult to keep cool. I have tried a couple of different cases but ultimately the problem I run into is because I have the absolute worst cooling hardware on my GPU's for tripple SLI. I feel like it is pretty obvious why when you look at this picture: Essentially, I am looking at planning a watercooling loop because I have to run my cards at 70% to keep them under 69 degrees C. (yes, I could run them hotter, but I really don't want to.) I will post pics when I get home tonight of the build, and have them below this sentence explaining some of the limitations I am running into for liquid cooling. As you will see the cards are very long and are almost to the front of the case, by the time I put a 120x360 (will have to be a thin Rad) in front I won't have any room for a vertical Res. However, I do have a lot of space below my cards for some kind of horizontal Res. I also have enough room at the top to run a 45mm thick 120x240 rad with pull fans. I already own high static pressure fans from thermaltake called Riing that have orange LED rings. If anyone has any tips or thoughts about how to do this, and whether or not the liquid cooling will be effective with a thin 3x120 and a medium thick 2x120 with pull fans and in the loop including CPU and 3 GTX 980 classifieds. Or any tips about making this work inside the air 540, let me know. P.S. I know that 3x SLI is not always the most effective but I love to play MMO's in 7680x1440 and have 3 ROG Swift 27" making it worth it to me. I would like to play these games at ultra and around 100FPS or 3D around 30 FPS if possible. (already uses all 4gb of vram in each card when doing 3d and only runs at 20fps with 70% utilization of the card.)

Mod an Air 540 to fit a second PSU? Two PCs in one case?
PrimeSonic posted a topic in Cases and Mods
So I'll should be building my new PC this weekend. I'm building in a Corsair Carbide Series Air 540. My crazy idea actually involves building a small, low-powered NAS system in the "back" compartment of the case. Something small enough to make fit into the 5 1/4" bays. And hooking it up to storage drives all in the same case. Finding small enough systems isn't the challenge. Though finding one with enough SATA ports might be. > The challenge I see is how to fit a second power supply in the back of the case to power the little NAS and all the storage drives hooked up to it. I want to be able to power down my beefy system while still having access to the NAS files. Any ideas? EDIT: Something like this might work, just with smaller PSUs.- 5 replies

System: Asus strix GTX 980 Asrock H97 pro4 i5 4460 Seasonic 650w (Gold) 8 gb ram So i still need to buy 8 Gb ram and new SSD, and i need new case for my build. So i'm thinking of Be quiet base 800, NZXT H440, Corsair air 540, and bit more pricey cases like Corsair 670t and 680t. I would take H440 but i feel like it has bit crappy cooling, and i'm also pretty okay with fan noises, i prefer having cooler temps then silent. If i would take H440 i would swap my cpu cooler from Evo 212 to, Be quiet shadow rock 2. If i take 670t or 680t i will still stick with same cooler, wont be pretty but i feel those two pricey cases have more future proof and good airflow. Both cases cost around 200€ in estonia. NZXT H440 and air 540 around 145€. Budget is close to 350€. And i don't have Phanteks cases on sale here, there is one website, but i don't thrust that one. So would be 670t and 780t bit overkill? ( and yes i feel like 200 euros for those cases are bit to much)

I hated the old case. Just picked up this Corsair Air 540 and still have a lot to do but need some advice. I have yet to tidy up cables... 1. Im thinking of rewiring the lights so I can put the converter box in the back of the case. Covering all wires with shrink wrap. 2. I was trying to find some king of cover for hard drives. I was almost thinking a mirror.... SSD will be going in the back of case when I get another hard drive soon 3. green board on PCI ribbon cable I was thinking large shrink wrap 4. PCI 6 pin power really annoys me. Not sure what to do with that. That loop just looks terrible. 5. Loop for liquid cooler just hangs way too low. Has anyone ever cut them down? I was going to cut them to length and refill it with _____ via a Tee and cap installed inline Again, these are only my first thoughts and open to any advice.

so its gonna be the first time that I'll build a PC, and I don't know jack s**t on how to set up these positive/negative air pressure things yet my case is gonna be an Corsair Air 540 and I won't really buy any additional fans, except for my CPU fan, the Noctua NH-D14, which I don't know if there is more than one way to set up, but if it's a factor in properly setting this up, then please help with that too. I've also got a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming if the fans there would also be a factor. so how do I properly set this thing up to optimize the airflow?

I'm searching for some cases in my country (Peru), and found those two, but the problem is that the corsair case is almost out of stock because there is only one remaining in the store. I'm planning to buy my computer components, except the case, when I travel (not sure when and where) I'll just leave the links here for the cases, the page it's in Spanish. Corsair Air 540 (Arctic Edition) It's US$180 CM 690 III NVIDIA Edition (Green) It's US$133 PS: Those cases are kinda overpriced, but those are the only ones that I found and will probably fit my budget.

I found this modded case on frozencpu, it is a Corsair Air 540, painted in Orange (some parts). (Would be great for a LTT theme build) The deal includes a 240mm Alphacool XT30 rad, a 360mm Alphacool XT30 rad and Cougar fans are included, also it has a pump and a res. Everything is installed. Rads are painted in orange. Here is the link of the modded case: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/21950/cst-1461/Corsair_Carbide_Series_Air_540_Cube_Case_-_Custom_Dual_Radiator_Series.html?tl=g45c2#blank

Hi, i am currently planning a water cooled build in the Carbide Series® Air 540 case. And i'd like to know, if there are flaws in my build plan and also i'd like to hear if you have some suggestions on how to improve the loop in general. Computer that i will be water cooling, is my current fully air cooled computer and the only changes i am making to it are: New PSU for future 3-Way SLI or maybe even 4-Way SLI(Probably not and certainly not without a new mobo and a CPU). New Case because water cooling in my current case is near impossible without some serious modding, which i don't have the skill nor tools to do. Maybe in the future i will add the third Asus 780 DCU II OC into it, but probably i'll just wait a generation or 2 for new nVidia GPUs and then upgrade to 3-Way SLI using what ever those gfx cards are. I may switch the fans to Corsair SP120s depending on the feedback and how my current Silverstone Air Penetrators look in the build. New Fan Controller (the XT version) because my current fan controller just isn't doing a good enough job and it also won't fit since i do have a Blu-Ray drive that i intent to use in this build as well. And ofc water cool CPU and the GPU(s). I don't think i am going to bother with water cooling the mobo because, the mobo block costs a little too much in my opinion and it doesn't really matter much anyway. Current build specs: i7 2600K @4.5GHz 16GB of G.Skill Ripjaws X @2133Mhz 2-Way SLI Asus 780 DCUII OC @1081/7008Mhz Asus ROG Maximus IV Extreme B3 Samsung 840 x2 in RAID0 Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler with 2 Corsair SP120 fans both in pull config Corsair AX750 PSU Antec 1200 Case with SilverStone Air Penetrator blue LED fans Asus Xonar Xense Sound Card Water cooling parts list: GPU blocks: EK-FC780 GTX Ti DCII - Nickel (Original CSQ) I just love how these bad boys look. GPU backplates: EK-FC780 GTX Ti DCII Backplate - Black I'd love to use the default Asus DCU II backplates, but according to EK's site they don't fit correctly with the water blocks. GPU block bridge parts: EK-FC Bridge SINGLE CSQ - Plexi Is this the correct piece to use in between the GPU blocks and the triple bridge? EDIT: Nope, the correct piece(EK-FC Link) comes included with the waterblock it self. EK-FC Bridge TRIPLE Parallel CSQ Plexi Parallel FTW! EK-FC Link BLANK Parallel CSQ To seal that middle slot in the triple bridge. CPU block: EK-Supremacy - Nickel Still not sure, if i should go with EK-Supremacy Clean CSQ - Nickel instead.. Should i? Pump: EK-D5 PWM Motor (12V DC PWM Pump Motor) Isn't this the pump Linus always speaks so highly of off? It's amazeballs in any case IMHO. Reservoir: Option A: EK-D5 X-RES 140 CSQ - Acetal It's going in the back of the case on top of the 2.5" drive cages and i'll mount it horizontally to the roof. And swap the res top to EK-RES X3 - Multiport TOP. Option B: EK-D5 X-RES 100 CSQ - Acetal I'll mount it on top of the 2.5" drive cages vertically to the back wall and prey there is enough clearance for EK-RES X3 - Multiport TOP and fittings. Option C: EK-Multioption RES X2 - 100 Basic I'll mount the res on top of the 2.5" drive cages vertically to the mesh wall and mount the pump with EK-D5 X-TOP CSQ - Acetal on the front panel below the 5.25" bays. Option D: EK-Multioption RES X2 - 100 Basic I''l mount the pump with the EK-D5 X-TOP CSQ - Acetal on top of the 2.5" drive cages on the mesh wall and the res next to it vertically with EK-UNI Holder 50/70s. Which option do you think is the best? My favourite option is B, but im not sure if it's doable due to possible clearance problems. Pump mounting hardware: Mounting mechanism D5 X-TOP EK-UNI Holder D5 V2 (If it's not included with the res i choose.) Radiators: EK-CoolStream PE 360 (Triple) This will go to the front of the case(ports facing down) and depending on how well the top rad fits, i'll put the fans inside or outside of the case in push config or in pull, if that means that i don't have to put them outside and thus run them without the included dust filter. EK-CoolStream RAD XTX (240) This will go on top of the case(ports facing the back of the case) and the fans will be exhausting hot air out in pull config. I wish there would be enough room to fit the XTX version of the 360 rad to the front, because that radiator is just so RAD (get it ?) </badpuns> Fittings & Tubing: EK-CSQ Fitting 10/16mm G1/4 -Black Nickel Would have loved to go with Bitspower Black Sparkle fittings, but i just could not figure out how to use their shop. So i just gave up and went with something equally awesome looking. Also the main reason i don't use hard plexi tubing is that, i wanted to use crystal link but that got foiled by the lack of "Buy" button in the Bitspower shop. Also i'd like to go easy on fittings since this is the first water cooled build i am building after all. PrimoChill PrimoFlex™ Advanced LRT™ 15,9 / 9,5mm - Crystal Clear I guess this is my only option, since i want tubing without any markings and which is very clear and high quality. Coolant: EK-Ekoolant UV BLUE I won't be using any UV lighting(I will use 2x neon blue cold cathodes as lighting for the case.) but this should look really blue without it right? EDIT: Original post If some mod happens to see this post, please delete the original post.

I want to get into liquid cooling for the aesthetic, silence performance and the cooling performance it can provide for a computer. This would be my first liquid cooling system that I were to do. To learn the basics I understand I would need a case that can do so. I have 5 builds under my belt, 3 of which are capable of being liquid cooled cases if I'm not mistaken CM Storm Scout 2009, CM 690 II in 2010, and the Thermaltake V9 BlacX Edition (This Pc). So I grasp the size of the case being important. I am looking for advice on Liquid cooling products Color of the liquid Maintenance guides Setup guides etc etc. who has quality parts etc etc. What re-saler to buy? The case I intend on putting my first liquid cooled system in is the Corsair Air 540. It would be a CPU-GPU loop.

Hi all. Ive been planning a new year build for 2014 for a few months now and after much deliberation I think I have come up with a what I think is a good parts list. I am after any suggestions/opinions of what I have come up with just to get another perspective and possibly improve my build for 2014. My plan is to build a rig that will: play any game at high quality, boot&run super fast, dual boot kubuntu and windows, do occasional light video editing, run cool and relitivly quiet (I live in Australia where the summer temperatures are 30-40 degrees celcius on a daily basis) have high quality sound, hopefully OC to 4.5 ghz and lastly look great and match my current red/black colour scheme of perhiperals (mionix naos 3200 & corsair k70). pccasegear wishlist: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lists&wlcId=249423&action=wish_lists parts list: Corsair Carbide Air 540 Corsair H110 CPU Cooler Intel 4670k Seasonic XP 660w PSU ASRock z87 Killer motherboard MSI GTX780 Gaming Edition Creative Soundblaster ZX Soundcard 16gb of Corsair Vengence 2133mhz RAM (dual channel kit) 2x WD 2tb Green drive (to be put in a RAID 1 array) 2x SanDisk 120gb Extreme II SSD (to be put in a RAID 0 array) 3x Bitfenix Spectre Pro 120mm Fans (for front) 2x Bitfenix Spectre Pro 140mm Fans (for radiator) 1x Bitfenix Spectre Pro 140mm Black Tint/Red LED (for rear exhaust) Cheers in advance for any advice GGGlynn

Started out with a FX-8120 last year around this time and spent the last 6 months working on the build pictured. I personally can say that the HD-6870 video card paired with the FX-8120 and a MATX AsRock board way under-performs compared to the same video card with a 4770K and an Asus ROG board. I play Star Wars the Old Republic more than anything else and my FPS in game doubled. Every other game plays much better as well, although not a doubling of FPS as seen with SWTOR. I'm not sure the exact root cause for the increase, other than the obvious better architecture of Intel and Asus. Anyway no official benchmarks or anything, just a real world experience.
