Hey guys Here is a little bit of backstory: I have a School laptop with Windows 10 on its main ssd. And i also bought an external Hdd just for some extra storage Lately i wanted to start playing some games on this laptop (but i cant really install anything because it has admin protections and my school has the password for it. other than that it has a lot of plugins that protect it from doing a lot of things) at this moment i thought: lets install windows to go on my external hdd and boot from there so that i have my own copy of windows that i can use on this laptop (i dont have any others pc's i can use so i had to do it this way) everything seems fine as i install discord, steam and stuff like that. At some point i decided to boot from my original ssd with the school's installation of windows 10 (just had to look for something) after doing what i had to do i switched back on my windows to go installation, and here is where hell began. i couldn't start windows to go because it was missing a file (error code: 0xc0000011) after that i tried to boot windows 10 from my school's ssd, i haven't even made it up to the boot that i already got a BSOD (error code: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM), windows rebooted and tried to fix itself with "System restore" i waited for around 2 hours and nothing happened. the next day i turned my laptop on and windows managed it to fix itself At this point im wondering what could ever "corrupt" 2 operating systems at once, i mean was it my fault or something? I tried to look for something similar online and i found out that having fast boot activated on a multiboot system can couse something like that, the thing is that windows to go does not have the option to turn off fast boot. If i try again to run windows 10 and windows to go is it going to currupt again or was it just a coincidence?

i have this issue wich is going on every 2/3 months. it has kept going for 3/4 years. the issue is every computer i use if i install windows 10. after 2 or 3 moths it grandually corrupts in a unusable state. i tried letting windows update as its recomanded but never got anywhere. ignoring updates seemed to make the life of my installs slightly more long. this issue happens on every machine i use? i cycled 3 machines and after 3/2 months of use they all corrupt the installs and im forced to fresh install windows 10 everytime. if at least it was computer specific i could fix the problem but it happens on every single machine i use? what? i tried using linux multiple times and i was able to get stable enviroments where things just worked. but of course i was not able to run some programs/games. and also i needed some windows specific things. lutris proton and wine are all cool yes. but if i could just have complete compability i would have made the switch years ago. so the question i raised is it my fault? dosent this happen to anyone else? i usually install 3D cad programs and also programming stuff. python nodejs ecc. plus games. i am not using hdds for my computers. i use only ssds because using an hhd with windows is quite a problem since it becomes really slow and unusable. i have also another issue where everytime i try to repair windows 10 via its built in tools like safe-mode and sfc scannow. nothing works it always says its unfixable. if any more information is needed please ask. if you would be able to help me get rid of this curse i would be forever in debt... thank you for reading.. PLS HELP

So this has been happening for a while now and only getting worse. So I followed along the budget NAS video a few years back as I needed to increase storage for larger projects and for some reason my footage keeps getting corruption like this in the picture. I tend to work with a lot of RED and BRAW footage and it seems like those are the only types of media affected. It does not matter if I transfer from my workstation (through Terracopy or Explorer) or if I transfer directly to the NAS. I am currently using replace frame in Resolve but it takes up loads of time. Hi! I would love to get some input on this. Does anyone else experience reliability issues with fTPM on AMD platforms? Before I switched to a dedicated TPM chip, my fTPM would sometimes (it happened about twice a month or so) get corrupted for no apparent reason and had to be reset during boot. I usually noticed because Windows Hello stopped working. And yes, I did check for malware but all scans from both Windows Defender and Malwarebytes came up with no results. In case it might be relevant, this is on a Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming 3 mainboard and a Ryzen 7 3700X. Has anyone had similar experiences? I would love to know more about this.

I recorded a video on my phone about 2 months ago and the last 15 seconds of the video don't playback at all, I was wondering if there was a way to recover the lost part of the video.

Hi, my HDD (D: Data) is not showing up anymore in the partition manager in windows ("Partition.png") but i can still access it from the explorer ("Explorer.png") and copy files from it at full speed. I first noticed that when I saw my second partition (B: Backup) on that drive fail with the dialog window with the option to format that partition showing up. I don't know why but i deleted that partition shortly after. The HDD was formated in a weird way: D:Data was in a sandwich between B:Backup. For some unknown reason I could only split B:Backup in two parts which were I think it's called a portable partition (the bar was a dark green color) - It's shown in "Partition old.png". I am very worried now that the D:Data partition is also going to fail - I have nowhere to back that data on there up because I dont have a big enough drive. [Note: B:Backup wasn't a place where i would backup the data from my PC, I had data from my old phone and laptop on there which weren't very important] [Note: The HDD is a 2TB WD Blue] If you need anything from the pictures translated to english or any additional information please just ask.

Hi, so a bit ago I did a big upgrade with new mobo ram and cpu. I struggled to even get windows 11 installed as it kept giving bsod and install errors saying it didn’t have the required files even after formatting the usb stick and redownloading multiple times. I finally got it to work but now it’s giving me disk errors and corrupt file errors on steam even after clearing the cache and redownloading the game. It did however work on a small download of ≈300mb on steam but for games like destiny 2 and cs:go it keeps giving these errors. I’ve tried downloading on another drive with the same result, both of which are fine according to the windows drive scanner. I did get the destiny to launch by launching it from outside of steam but it has lots of crashes saying something about the files not being there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Recently my HDD (Seagate 3TB) was corrupted after Microsoft deleted my game from xbox app. There was a great deal for Forza Horizon 4 and 5 for about 2$ in another currency and then Microsoft refunded that because there was a price bug or sth. After that my HDD drive couldn't handle basic things. Whole system was laggy, 20 minutes to boot (Windows was on my SSD), 20 minutes to shut down, 20 minutes to open any folder/app. I tried chkdsk and sfcscan and find out it were Forza files that were corrupted (files named like: Mustang, Supercar, Hotwheels etc) Tried many things but I handled to bring it to usable state (chkdsk on boot that did nothing so I always skipped it, it always crashed at stage 2), HDD was slower but usable. After a week after installing another game I've noticed that the issue returned. After uninstalling that game issue was resolved. To this day HDD works (not it glory days but it works fine), but I think that maybe a sector or sth on my HDD is broken and when something is written there then HDD can't handle it. Tomorrow I'm planning to backup most important things and try to fix it. I was thinking about just formatting it using Windows tools, but maybe I should use another tools? Maybe something more is required to fix it? Maybe someone has similar problem and could tell me what to do.

Hi. I had installed a Windows update a few nights ago, (sorry, I forget which update it was,) and when I got back to my computer later that night, it had gone to recovery. I tried to let it continue to boot to Windows, it loaded, but right before the login screen it bluescreened. I was very upset and after the bluescreen, it restarted and went back into recovery. I have been using my USB ISO Windows on it but it says to unplug installation media and restart to start Windows normally, but Windows doesn't start. I tried to do automatic recovery and there is no restore point and I can't reset it to before the update was. I tried booting into safe mode but it takes SOOO long to log in, and when it does, it is so slow the settings can't even open. I tried to go to control panel to uninstall and I press uninstall and wait 5 minutes but nothing happens! What do I do?

(Keep in mind I'm typing this on my phone) So recently my computer randomly died. Whenever I tried launching it up it just kept saying "Inaccesible_boot_device", and it would also just go to the keyboard layout screen, which I wouldn't be able to do anything because both my keyboard and mouse weren't responsive. So I decided to get a USB and use the Media Creation Tool to reinstall windows 10. But, I couldn't install it because it said my hard drive was an "MBR" so i wiped the hard drive using the command prompt that comes with the troubleshoot tab. (Also keep in mind I tried doing startup repair, but it said it couldn't find any errors and to just shut down or find another way to repair it). Now I was able to install windows on my hard drive. It goes through the normal way, saying it's preparing to install it and what not, but then when it says it's finishing up. It'll say that windows needs to restart. Of course, I let it restart but it pops up to to the installation screen once again and gives me the options on what language to install or the keyboard layout. So I restarted, and took out the USB drive. But it says no boot device found, and says press a key to reset. I go try to wipe my disk again, but some of the space that was originally free was now less. Meaning that windows 10 IS installed on my hard drive, but my computer can't find my hard drive to launch it on. Can anyone help me with this issue? That would be amazing. Thanks. My operating system originally was windows 7 also.Specs:CPU: AMD FX 4300 Quad CoreGPU: MSI GTX 1060 6GB PSU: Corsair 750m (older version) Ram: 8gb DDR3 Hard Drive: toshiba dt01aca100

PC crashed while playing games, upon rebooting it started scan+repairing my C drive (SSD), froze then crashed again and gave me an NTFS error. I tried to reinstall Windows on my second hd (HDD) but it wouldn't let me saying it was the wrong partition type. Also it didn't find Windows installed on either hd to repair from Computer was old and I was in the market for a new one anyways, but I'm wondering if 1-my hard drives are corrupt 2-if they are, is there any way to salvage the data 3-if not, how would I access them from this or a potential new system PC specs (unsure if needed) CPU- i5-3570 @3.4GHz RAM- 8 Gb DDR3 GPU-Nvidia 640Ti PSU-Thermaltake 600W MoBo- Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H SSD-1 Tb Samsung 850 evo HDD- 1Tb WD Blue

I have and 250GB SSD holding W10 and some random files, plus a 1TB HDD with everything else on it. I’m guessing I corrupted the HDD by accidentally kicking the power switch on my breaker off because I got a corruption warning while loading steam and my network adapter keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. I’ve looked online and found a software called AnyRecover that seems pretty great. Is it legitimate? Are there better options? Is there any thing I should know? Any tips? Thanks.

Greetings, While watching a simple video on fb I got the BSOD Critical Structure Corruption. A similar thing happened when I open a game and mostly happens then for example if I open AC origins the game plays fine sometimes it crashes when I open LoL it happens all the time, after automatic restart it plays ok. After viewing it in Event Viewer it showed that during the time of the BSOD Rtlihvs.dll was at Critical error, which indicated at my TP-Link wireless USB that I use for my laptop. Some older thread showed it helped if I downgraded the driver. The thing is when I try to uninstall the device ( no option for Roll Back is available ) after trying to install it manually it just installs by itself with the latest driver. I disconnected the wifi and tried it that way also nothing it keeps putting the latest driver. Since I just did a clean install for W10 ( previously had a BSOD with Video Shredding, which only resolved after reinstalling the OS ), I have not did all the updates, so I updated all the drivers, but the issue persists, it's really bothersome I can't play any games and PC crashes almost every time, especially in LoL while more video demanding games have no problem running ( offline games like AC ) and crash less. P.S I use also the second monitor which just had an issue where after Rtilhvs.dll BSOD crash it just froze while pc was running ok and all I could do was closing LoL from task manager and reopen it again. It's a Dell Inspiron 7000 series i5 GTX 1050 1tb SHDD 250 M.2 ( which after installation I did a clean install again and after that w10 install I had the video shredding and did another one format. ) More exact regarding the issue: I have the dump file, I use the USB Wireless tp link tl-wn8200nd to be exact, I have disabled the inbuilt WiFi and use that one since the distance to the router is quite far and the inbuilt does not have a good connection. I wanted to clarify some things that I tried and how this error occurred. Firstly all started when I bought the Samsung m.2 SSD 970 EVO, for which my laptop had a slot so I just opened and put it there ( there was something like a transparent sticker also in that slot which I thought needed to be removed but after trying to remove it and it seemed to have some resistance I left it and put the SSD on top of it which plugged in fine ), after that in the W10 installation screen there was no show of the 970, so I searched for the issue for which the solution was some option I needed to check or uncheck in BIOS I don't quite remember atm. The installation went ok I managed to install the OS ( i had some problem with explorer.exe before installing the SSD also it just did not open and every boot I had to open it with Task Manager after reformatting it was ok ), then after some time, not right away maybe a month 2-3 weeks of usage I encountered Video_shredding BSOD, to which I thought the problem was the Video Card, so I did some reinstallation of drivers and device after that, but the problem persisted so I did format once again, now I have encountered that Critical_structure BSOD and not the event viewer showed the rtlihvs.dll . I have tried so far using a different tp-link ( same model though which I have on a desktop ) and so on. The issue is still there and occurs only when I open a video game ( mostly in league of legends it happens the moment I log into the game, not the login screen or loading screen ), it does not happen as often in single-player offline games, but still has happened a couple of times. I have this pen drive that had a really good looking leather sleeve around it, It basically looked like a mini leather pouch which when opened revealed the USB. So what happened is that I took it to my school to transfer some files(The pc there is really ancient, it runs Windows XP and was manufactured in 2002 or something). When I connected the pen drive, it said that I did not have enough permissions to install the files required. Therefore, I called my teacher who sent this guy who took my thumb and inserted it and removed it repeatedly in the front USB slot of the computer without safely removing it. After like 15 seconds, he was like "The data is probably corrupted, you will have to format it at home." When I reached home, I tried formatting it, but the drive never showed up, even on diskmgmt.msc. On connecting it to another laptop, it showed up as drive f. When I clicked on it it just displayed" Please insert a disk into drive f." I searched for help online but to no avail. Somewhere I read that even if it does not show up on the computer, it will show up in diskmgmt.msc, but it does not even show up there. Please tell me what to do. I know I can easily replace it but I can't find another one as good as this one as I received it from a family member who worked in a foreign company.

My Graphics Card Isn't Working to It's Full Potential
ConfusedUser posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hey guys! In August of 2017, I had built my first computer. I had purchased a GTX 1060 3 GB graphics card. It worked extremely well! Around a year later, it has not been performing as it should. I used to run Overwatch at 120 frames. Now it runs an inconsistent 60. Please help me! Thanks! Edit (IMPORTANT): I have an AMD CPU and at this point I have no idea how to uninstall my drivers. -
Hello there, I bought a Gigabyte B360M D3H motherboard a couple weeks ago. And since the beginning, I was having problem with downloading large files. I tried a lot of stuff but I ended up with corrupted zip/rar/iso files. If the file size is more than 5 GB there are 99% chance that it is going to be corrupted. When I plugged a LAN card now the issues are gone. I am not an enthusiast so the problem seems somewhat confusing to me. Smaller downloads are fine, only the compressed documents are getting corrupted for some reason. Is there by any chance the motherboard gigabit port is faulty? My internet connection is 100 Mbps full duplex link. PS: I used driver updater software to update the drivers, still corruption existed. If anybody can clear me out, that would be a great help System specs: https://valid.x86.fr/gmsxlx Intel core i5-8500 3.00 Ghz Gigabyte B360M D3H (has intel GbE LAN) HyperX Fury 8 GB ddr4 Western Digital Blue 1TB

I'm having a strange issue with my Aorus Gaming 5 board recently. After a length of time between a few hours and a few days, the BIOS appears to randomly stop functioning. The board will not POST and instead enters a loop, with the POST readout of 65 3E 15 90. Clearing CMOS does not resolve this issue, nor does power cycling. The only solution I've been able to come up with is using the backup BIOS to re-flash onto the primary BIOS chip. At first the issue manifested with BIOS F22, but also appeared with F10, 20, 21, and 23d. Gigabyte support was wholly unhelpful and basically said the BIOS chip was a dud and that they could RMA it. To test this, I flashed BIOS F10 to the backup and a "safe" F4 to the primary. Lo and behold, the backup has become unstable and required reflashing. Does this indicate that the problem is with the firmware, or is my board circling the drain after less than a year in use?

Dont even know where to begin, I had posted this to several forums... with no luck. This could be just a weird combo of Video card / DP cable / Monitor that does this... this stuff is haunted. Here are my full specs : i5 3570 16gb ram GTX 1070 by Evga Newest Driver Windows 10 64bit Pro Monitor - LG 24GM77 (DP connection 144hz mode - might be the culprit) -------------------------- First of, this is not a video card issue, since I had tried 1060 by Gigabyte and same issue happens. This dude here shares the same problem with gtx 980, the only one I found online, which matches 1 to 1 he is using the same monitor as me: http://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=2451953&fp=1&p=2 Basically when monitor wakes up from sleep - 1 out of 5 times - screen does weirdly corrupt. PC still keeps working, but if I turn monitor off and on - no signal. Restart fixes the issue 100%. I never fully put PC to sleep, just display. Images below is what it looks like. Looks like using DVI-D cable fully cures the issue. Initially thought MSI afterburner might have been it, but ya that doesnt matter. This never happened to my OLD R9 280X with the same monitor / OS / DP connection. I have so far: - Reinstalled Windows 10 clean - Tried different Nvidia video cards - Took a screen capture - which looks fine after restart So it leads me to believe, this is issue with : Current drive / DP port @ 144hz ... something goes weird when monitor tries to resume the video signal. But if anyone heard anything about this. Thanks!

I have a similar issue, I was editing videos on my externally connected SSD (HyperX Fury 60GB (~2 years old)) at a friends house, I then went home and plugged it into my laptop's docking station and now it does not show up anywhere, not in my computer, or disk management, or the device manager. I have of course tried connecting it to other computers and got the same results, I then used the cable and adapter that I was using for the SSD on a different drive and it worked fine. This leaves only one option obviously, that it was a hardware fault, I am yet to open it up as I do not have the security torx that is required, however I soon will be able to. Warranty voids for this product are fine as it was a freebie that I had snagged off of the school and is most probably out of warranty any way. Now to the question, Is there any possible way that the most beloved files and hours of hard work spent on this drive could be somehow recovered? I don't care about the files enough to send them off for a few hundred dollar repair however and any solutions should be DIY, thanks. Failing a repair are there any cool ways that I could give this drive the glorious burial that it deserves? I will upload some pictures of the drive both external and internal if that could help.

Hi, posting for a friend. He was working with a video in Premiere Pro, and he used the 720p Youtube video setting to export. He accidentally selected the original raw file to write over. It then gave him an error, and now the file says size: 0 bytes and refuses to be used for anything. Any way to recover this or is he screwed?

So, it looks like the fight over Time Warner Cable is not over just yet, as Charter Communications is attempting to buy them for $55 Billion. This needs to not happen, if anything, the top four internet service providers in the US each need to be broken into thirds. I'm seriously asking myself, when will someone, ANYONE, step in and stop these ridiculously large corporate mergers? We have anti-monopoly laws for a reason. This stuff seriously needs to stop. Congress needs to come down as hard as they can on these companies, and force them ALL to break up into smaller companies, and find a way to pass regulation requiring them to actually compete with one another. Instead of just pretending to. We all know it won't happen, but it needs too. Source: http://in.reuters.com/article/2015/05/25/twc-m-a-charter-communi-idINKBN0OA1FA20150525

I'm subscribed to the Arch Linux mailing list and just got this message in my inbox: Debian bug report: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=785672 Arch forum discussion: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=197400 According to the discussion on Phoronix it's also possible that this bug could affect you if you're not running a bleeding-edge kernel if it's been backported to an older kernel. Apparently there were Ubuntu kernels which had the bad patch pipelined for being pushed into production (though that doesn't seem to have happened in the end as the bug got caught before that). http://www.phoronix.com/forums/forum/phoronix/latest-phoronix-articles/801529-the-linux-4-0-ext4-raid-corruption-bug-has-been-uncovered?p=801567#post801567 If you're among those of us who run bleeding-edge kernels you have probably already been notified of this, but since it's pretty important I thought it appropriate to make this post.
