Hello LTTians, Mods, sorry if I've posted in wrong group. My device details as follows Legion Y540-15IRH Device name: LAPTOP-NV9RUEC2 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz RAM: 16 GB GPU: RTX 2060 (6GB) OS: Windows 10 Home (x64) I'm facing heating issue when playing games, my GPU temp goes upto 85C, and when it reaches 85 celcius, my gpu is getting clocked down. BTW never monitored my CPU temps though, coz i've undervolted it as per the following guide. Bob Of All Trades CPU undervolting guide While playing games, I keep the back of my laptop elevated with a small piece of wood which doesn't block the air intake and also air exhaust. Need help in choosing cooling pad for my laptop. Please do suggest from the following Indian merchants, if I import and import duties are heavy in India. Amazon India Flipkart MD Compuers TIA guys, looking forward for replies.

So I bought a laptop, it's Dell Inspiron 15 5593. It has bad heating problems and I have been informed from my previous post that the laptop is poorly designed. Although now I can't really return it as my mom won't allow it. Now I have no choice but to use it. I'm thinking of buying a cooling pad but I don't know which one I should buy so please suggest me some really cheap cooling pads that will help with this model!

I have a RB14 2021 model. Testing with ambient temperature of 23C During light to idle usage the laptop temp averages 46C with the cooling pad off. When the cooling pad is on the temp somehow increases to 54C. Whereas when gaming with the cooling pad on the temp drop is noticeable by a difference of 8-9C. Anyone can explain this weird behaviour? Also I am fully aware that the laptop is working in safe limits I'm just interested in this weird behaviour.

I made some updates to my laptop cooler for my Razer Blade 15 this week and I've always wanted to share it since its first iteration, but have never really had time. With the world on lock-down, I guess now there's no better time. The basic idea I'm sure has been done before. Use the metal chassis of the laptop to transfer heat to something with a lot more thermal mass, in this case a huge chunk of aluminum. Inside the laptop, thermal pads connect the internal heat sync to the chassis (what I replaced most recently with better quality pads). When I'm not using the cooling pad, the chassis doesn't seem to get any hotter under load than without the pads so I haven't noticed any ill effects. On the stand side, there is just a massive .5mm thermal pad that covers the entire contact area. The included pictures are just of the aluminum stand itself only because I've been through countless iterations of fan set ups. For the most part as long as it has active airflow over the main sync under the cpu and gpu, most configs seem to yield the same results. Right now I have the stand elevated off my desk with fans blowing straight up on the fins. So far I think this "experiment" was well worth the effort, I obviously love tinkering with stuff like this, but the numbers speak for themselves. For testing I run the laptop in "gaming" mode for the full 45 watt cpu power limit along with a 200 Mhz Core / 600 Mhz Memory overclock on the 1070 with the internal fans at full speed. I then put the CPU and GPU under full load using FAHControl (because why not do some good at the same time you're torturing your PC). I make sure I do all testing on the same work unit for both stand and no stand tests as actual utilization can vary between work units. All temps are degrees Celsius. Note that with no stand the laptop throttles almost immediately and drops its CPU power to 35 watts. With the stand, no throttling, power stays at max, and its 7 degrees cooler over ambient on the CPU. Amb CPU Freq Pkg Pwr Core 1 Core 2 Core 3 Core 4 Core 5 Core 6 Pkg Avg. Delta Amb. HELP? what cooling pad do i need for my laptop
Guest posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hi everyone, I have been using my laptop for a while now and i game quite alot on it. Everytime i play games it constantly runs at high temperatures and the cpu can literally run at temperatures so high, it can boil water. Anyway, im my laptop specs are (important stuff) hp envy j151sa AMD A10-5750m Radeon HD 8650G + 8750M Dual Graphics 2*4gb, 1600 samsung ram. 1tb i listed all but half it dont really matter, The important thing is that my cpus max temperature is 105' degrees, and when im playing games like overwatch and csgo, it has gotten to 101' degrees and stopped performing well. The laptop fan is constantly on and loud so im not too bothered about the noise as long as its not too loud. I just want a cooler so that it wont reach temperatures of 100 degrees, i would be happy with 80' degrees tbh, thanks. -

Hi. I have an asus laptop with an SSD boot drive and a mass storage hard drive. I bought this cooling pad/laptop incliner for it. The fans spinning cause mild vibration. Can this vibration damage my hard drive? The device has this blue rubber brace around the drive to safeguard it from vibration...but still curious.. Will it damage the drive?

Hello I want to cool the laptop MSI GE63VR RAIDER GTX 1070 which has a lot of intake vents at the bottom and 4 exhaust vents (2 in each side and 2 in the rear end). I am thinking of using a combination of cooling pads and vacuum suction fans (opolar). A set up I thought of is having a cooling pad at the bottom of the laptop and having 2 opolar suction fans attached to the 2 rear ends on the back. Under this set up what would be the expected maximum and average temperatures of CPU and GPU when doing a demanding task such as playing Witcher 3 or running Primemark+Furmark. Without cooling pad or suction vacuums the temperatures can reach 97 C for both CPU and GPU; something that I do not like. Answers will be appreciated

Morning fellas and ladies, Have a 1050 ti baking itself inside a Dell 7567 -- starting to peruse external cooling solutions. Amazon's best selling cooling pads, are a starting point for me since I know very little about external cooling https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/electronics/2243862011/ref=zg_b_bs_2243862011_1. Vents are on the bottom and back. Eager to hear suggestions!

Few Months ago a bought an alienware 15(early 2015)(specs given Below). Since I bought in winters I didn't face any issues until now. Since I live in India and with summers comming(it really gets hot here,42C) I was considering buying an Cooling Pad for my laptop. That was backgroung story Now here is the question. Which Cooling pad 1. Single 200mm fan 2. Dual 140mm fan 3. Quad 100mm fan Which will provide better cooling(Given approx same quality). Also Will dual 140mm make more noise or single 200mm?? Following LTT youtube since mid 2012(not forums) and he hasn't made a video about it any help would be appreciated. Specs i7 4710hq GTX 980M (4GB) 16GB 1666Mhz DDR3 128GB SSD(samsung) + 1TB HDD 1080p

Good morning, TL:DR Bullshit story below Christmas is coming soon again, fireplaces and heaters will be on at max again. I wont be outside that much, because you know, it's cold. And will spend a lot of free time playing games that will warm my GPU and CPU to the core. And my poor poor laptop will be having to dissipate all that heat. Christmas is a timing of giving, and I would like to give my laptop a nice present this year. So i'm buying it a cooling pad! Now my laptop is not the only one who should be happy about that, I've decided to give something back to Linus media group as well. I will be decorating my cooler in orange and black, by using some brand spanking new LTT fans Only thing, I'm missing the right cooler to do this, please help me make this early Christmas miracle come true! End of BS story Right, I want a laptop cooler that uses at least 2x 120/140mm fans. The fans have to be removable or non existent so I can put LTT Noctua-fans in. This means the cooling pad needs to have standard 4 or 3 pin connectors. Also I want the fans to be somewhat visible, it's a shame to hide them under a very dense grill. I would also like to have a fan controller on it, but it's not mandatory. And it has to be affordable on some level, not looking to spend over a $100 on the pad, I still have to pay for the LTT fans as well. Only problem is I'm not able to find a cooler that ticks all the checkboxes I just listed. does anybody know a cooler that I could use for this project? Or will I have to use a CNC machine to make this myself? My laptop is a 15.6 inch laptop but I will probably need a 17 inch compatible cooling pad for it. I've added an inspiration picture below.

Good day! I'm new here so i really don't know where to start a new topic. I was wondering if someone could help me make a DIY CM Storm SF-19 kind of laptop cooler. I'm planning in using corsair's sp performance fans. I know the fans are 12v but i was wondering if i could like connect them to a 12v wall adapter or anything higher, i don't really mind the noise even if they would sound like a jet or some sort. My only concern is to drop temp when gaming. i5-4200U 1.6-2.6GHz Geforce 820M 2gb VRAM Windows 8.1 when gaming without my diy cooling pad 81 deg c when gaming with cooling pad 72 deg c

Hello all, quite a while back (almost a year now) i got the samsung series 7 gamer, and back then when i knew little about laptop it was heaven. although lately after learning much more about the components within it i realised that the gpu reaching 70 celcius when playing intensive games wasn't good (this is without an overclock). since its a laptop, fan monitoring programs like msi afterburner don't see it/ report it at being 100% all the time. at this point i decided to do an experiment with overclocking it to reach a temp where most other laptop with the gpu (its the gtx 675m) would throttle, but i noticed when it reached 76 celsius the fan speed would actually go on to full speed (i'm assuming as i haven't seen/ heard the fan speed ramp up higher), this is fine and all but i don't want the gpu to reach that height of a temperature before the fan gets off its ass and does something productive. My question is is there any program that allows you to change this? ps: ive done a bit of googling and spoken to some of my friends with other laptops, and apparently there is a program called hwinfo64 that changes the fan speeds for certain laptops (it worked on my friends alienware m14x), but the problem is either the program doesn't work on my laptop yet or samsung went full retard and made a gaming laptop with both a locked bios and making one unable to reach the fans or heat sinks to clean them out

Hello everyone. So I was wondering if any of you have ever used the CM NotePal laptop cooling pad and if it's any good. My laptop has been running kinda hot lately, about 45-49 degrees Celsius just on idle. It's about a 2 year old laptop and I have used it for some "gaming" even though it wasn't really meant to. And yes, I have cleaned out the fan recently. Anyway, does anyone here have this cooling pad? If not, what's a good one for around $20? Any help is appreciated.
