Just a hunch, but have any of you guys used Source Filmmaker? I can't seem to get it working right. Of course, I'm a complete noob, so maybe it's working as intended, but sometimes menus aren't clickable, and it can move my cursor to the main viewport when I click anywhere else in the application. I know it's old, but come on! It surely works better than this... right?

Anyone here using a Blackmagic Camera (like the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K) with a good iPhone-app to control the features like white balance, iris, shutter and preferable also focus remotely? The Blackmagic Camera Control app is only available for iPad (not iPhone) for some reason...?

Budget (including currency): Under INR ₹2,00,000 | USD $2,400 Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mosty for content creation (Statics and Videos) [Adobe Creative Suite, Blender, Zbrush] Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Regular usuage would be in creating graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator, Video editing in Premiere Pro and After Effects, Animation and Modeling in Blender and ZBrush and maybe sometimes Gaming. Trying to go for a price/value ratio. Also, rgb is not going to boost performance, so its fine if it doesn't lit up. Don't mind going team red. Hesitant, because of no experience. Suggestions would be appreciated. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GfbNgB Thankyou for your time.

Budget (including currency): 1500$ CAD (please tell me if this is a high or low budget) and I am willing to pay more for higher performance Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming in general, streaming content creation. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I would prefer an intel core (as google said it’s better for gaming) and a large case that would be easy to work with and air cooling is preferred (I dont want to have to figure out water cooling as a beginner). past that I’m willing to go with anything.

Hey guys, been a while since I've been on here!, anyways im looking to build a unique maybe server to store huge amounts of semi-medium files (mp3, WAV, ACID-WAV, AIFF, MP4 and PSD, AI, INDD, CAD, C4D, High res JPEGs/PNGs also looking for best compression algorithm for storing/compressing PSD, AI, INDD, CAD, C4D Etc. then also storing/compressing WAV. I have over 3 TB of big wav files ranging from 30-500MB different library's of genre music making files, other files for other projects, because I don't know what to do in life right now lmao. but yeah, I got a LSI MegaRAID on the way, heard it's pretty good for RAID 6 and another LSI card 9211-8i on the way too for my other NAS I wanna build or server. or just a backup card incase the first one dies for what ever reason XD so what you guys recommend I got 2x1TB Seagate drives (home ones) and 3 random 500GB-1TB drives different makers laying around and could use them as spares along the RAID 6 Array also what compression algorithm? best? mainly looking for best compression at a good or average speed (compressing) and decompression idc about atm but say I want both of both worlds what's good? im currently using LZMA/LZMA2 and ZSTD compression algorithm

Has anyone tried to use a medical monitor for PC gaming or content creation? Medical displays are supposed to show fine detail so anyone ever tried it. Would be nice for LTT to do a vid on the subject. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1574082-REG/lg_32hl512d_b_32_8mp_medical_diagnostic.html

As with the content and certain limits opened up with unreal engine 5. From showing 10 billion polygons or more in a scene and run kind of smooth as shown in video below. With systems like nanite and lumen, still many issues around their visual fidelity and keeping the quality of motion and image it tries to show without becoming a blurry mess (like a mix of motion blur and popup distance combined). What are peoples questions towards future engines and their possibilities? To their full real life scanning of objects and historical objects, in the unreal library stuff like Quixel's megascans assets. (can be used in unity, but not for free?) Also are you going to start learning to use some of them as they are free but with certain restrictions or rules? To the movies that with the use of blender, unity or unreal engine can provide. To how the Mandalorian was produced with the use of big LED screens and unreal engine.

Hey lovely people of the community! I am planning to build a new Ryzen PC and I could really do with some advice from a bit more tech savvy guys out here. Before getting into the configurations and my usage, I would like to point out that I am an absolute noob when it comes to the technical details. I for sure know what frequency and clock speed etc is, but I have absolutely zero idea what things like L3 cache, latencies, CCX modules etc mean. Also I donot understand how those fancy bars and benchmarks exactly function, so I request you guys to please give me suggestions bearing in mind that I am a complete layman So I am a designer and animator. My primary usage is going to be Adobe After effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Illustrator, while I also plan to start using Cinema 4D soon. I do not play games and do not intend to overclock my system. After an intensive research during the lockdown months I came up with the following build Ryzen 7 3700X MSI B450 Tomahawk Max GEFORCE GTX 1650 Super DDR4 [3200MHz] 16/32 GB RAM (Depending on the budget) Samsung 860 QVO [1 TB] WD Green [240 GB] Antec VP550 But then AMD introduced the 5000 series and put me in a serious dilemma. Now the build I am planning is Ryzen 5 5600X MSI B550 A-Pro GEFORCE GTX 1650 Super DDR4 [3200MHz] 16/32 GB RAM (Depending on the budget) Samsung 860 QVO [1 TB] WD Green [240 GB] Antec VP550 (Kindly note that since I do not plan to play games, I do not need the fancy Nvidia 3000 series or the AMD 6000 series GPUs) So now the dilemma I am facing is, should I go with the 3700x build or the 5600x one? (Since both are almost in the same price range). Will the changed architectures and design make a difference for the type of usage that I am planning? From what I have read and understood, I have come to the conclusion that, if I get the 3700x at a substantially lower cost than the 5600x (around $40-$50 difference), then I'll go for the 3700x, orelse I will go for the 5600x. Also I would really REALLY appreciate it if you guys could help me with a step by step guide on how I can optimize the performance of the PC, I've heard that Ryzen does weird stuff with RAM speeds and stuff. Thanks a lot in advance

Budget (including currency): 100000k INR(1350USD) Country: INDIA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, Video Editing, Content Creation, Streaming. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Currently on an HP laptop(i5 6th gen). Buying on March 2021. Targeting 1080p 144hz. Here is the thing I am torn between these two CPUs. Both of them costs almost the same as the 5600x being a bit more expensive(<50 USD). Now march 2021 I will build my second desktop currently on a HP laptop from 2016 (i5 6th gen) and earlier on the i3 3rd gen desktop. I plan on playing 1080p 144hz gaming with getting my hand on video editing and content creation possibly streaming also. The thing is since this is my second build with a first-ever discrete GPU( yes never had or owned any discrete GPU) it's really tempting me to go for the latest generation while on the other hand many people are saying that the 2 extra cores in the 3700x will come in handy a lot. Since I am on a 1080p panel I plan on going with the RX 6700 series if any comes out or the 3060ti 8/possibly 12 gigs (whichever is under my budget possibly the latter). Now I saw the benchmarks, the 5600x performs better nearly 20% or more in games than the 3700x. I plan on using this machine for the next 4 to 5 years what,s the best solution for me? there is equal weightage on video editing and gaming. And I avoided the 5800x & 5900x as both are a bit too expensive for me.

I can wait till mid January though, as my case will arrive that time, so hopefully RAMs with these specifications will be available again. What brand should I go for? We have narrowed down our monitor choice to 3 following monitors (within our budget): Samsung C27HG70: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/91d8c5f Viewsonic VX2758: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/20a51b51 Viewsonic VP2768: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/cc24b51 The first 2 monitors are classified as "Gaming" monitors and the last one is classified as "Professional" monitor. However, the sRGB and NTSC values of the first 2 monitors are a lot higher than the last one. Samsung is curved and VA panel so i'm guessing that is no good for content creation? I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. BTW, the VX2758 color gamut values doesn't show up on displayspecs page, but on viewsonic website it says 131% sRGB and 93% NTSC. Thanks!

Budget (including currency): 2000€ Country: Germany, but I can buy from every country that is in the EU Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: GTA V with mods, Star Wars BF2 with mods, Minecraft with Raytracing, Programming, Photo and Video editing and maybe animation in the near future. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Need the whole PC but the GPU needs to be a RX 5500XT cuz I am gonna buy a rtx 3080 in a few months. AMD is preferred as the CPU Manufacturer. I also need a 1000 Watt PSU. You don't have to max out the 2000€ you can also configure a PC without a GPU for 1750€ max. Thank you in advance!

I’m building a home workstation for my wife, who is a graphic designer/graphic artist. We are looking for a budget friendly, color accurate, 4K display. I have a plethora of knowledge in regards to gaming monitors, but I don’t pay much attention to the content creator space. Any recommendations in the $300-$400 range would be greatly appreciated. I realize I can't have it all for this price, but below are the most essential specs we need. The top priority specs are: COLOR ACCURACY: This is the most crucial spec to consider. The higher the coverage of the Adobe, sRGB, DCI-P, etc color spaces, the better. OUT OF THE BOX CALIBRATION: A hardware color calibrator is not in the budget. 4K RESOLUTION PREFERRED: However, I’d consider looking at 2K as well if it is compelling enough. 60 Hz is fine. The only gaming we expect to do here is some RTX Minecraft. IPS PANEL OR EQUIVALENT: Obviously color accuracy is key. Viewing angles are also important. 27” +/- is ideal. Adaptive sync tech and pixel response times aren’t as big of an issue. Don’t care much about HDR since nothing in this price range will have more than like 300 nits peak brightness anyway. Recommendations are greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hey guys, I know Linus keeps on referencing this “video bible” principles that he keeps on referring to on scripting and making videos. I was wondering if anyone knows the exact moments he talks about it. Or have a bullet point list of what their rules are for video making, content creation. Would love to refer to it when I make my own videos.

Which ones should be RGB for the best final look? Can we put AL120's on a Noctua D15S? Should we? - We are doing a custom DIY Ikea desk (Would love advice or suggestion on parts that worked well or didn't) - He has his sights set on a Secret Labs chair (What do ya'll think of it? Better options?) - He wants to RGB his room and decorate for streaming (advice needed on affordable options! He wants it to look great to all age categories and be customizable) - Best free software these days to stress test and benchmark the PC to make sure everything is working and up to spec? - Any other advice for him in his build or buying things or choosing software I didn't think of with the goal of a high quality stream, quality video content, customized RGB setup, and art/drawing. The parts were chosen with the plan of upgrading to/overclocking a 5950x in the future, planning for significantly faster internet and larger game sizes with multiple storage options (M.2 coming down in price and/or Large HD cold storage), and upgrading graphics cards as they get more power hungry. He plans to keep using the majority of these parts for 8-10 years only upgrading the CPU, GPU, and adding storage Lots to cover with this post. Don't feel like you have to answer every question if you got no clue! We will be reading all the comments. Thanks to everyone for their help in advance! With the right preparation we hope to have a blast on build day!

Hi everyone! I'm new to the world of Linux and I'm excited to take the dive. I recently had a great experience using Ubuntu on a USB stick to troubleshoot a hardware issue, and I'm now considering installing it on my PC. I've done some research on the basics of Linux, but I'd love to hear about everyone's personal experiences and recommendations. A little background on me: I'm a semi-retired graphic artist with over 30 years of experience using Macs. I used to do 2D print work, but I also dabbled in C4D a while back. Recently, I've decided to get back into 3D and I've chosen to focus on a Blender-based workflow. My current Mac wasn't cutting it, so I switched to a PC built for power (by last year's standards). The only thing I really dislike about using a PC is Explorer for navigating and viewing files. The file browser in Ubuntu was a nice surprise, though. So, I'm about to install Ubuntu on a second M2 drive. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or app recommendations for content creation. Thanks in advance for your help!

I will mainly use Unreal Engine, Blender and Adobe Creative Suite. There are no existing parts and I would also need a good monitor. My total budget is around 1 500 € I was previously planning on purchasing the parts in May-June, but as I read about the new releases coming in the second half of 2020, I was thinking I should wait till Fall. Reason n.1.: with the new generation of CPUs and GPUs coming, maybe the previous generation´s prices will drop, which would help as my budget is quite limited. n.2.: new parts might fit my needs better while at the same time remaining at a reasonable price I was thinking about the following: (the prices are a bit different in my country...something is cheaper, something is more expensive....) - note the price of the GPU and PSU did not even load... I'm looking to build a new system, with a decent amount of local storage for 4K video projects, as well as a solid multicore/multithread platform for running multiple VM's for software development. In terms of budget's I'm also looking at Mac/Mac Book Pro, as I'm currently a Mac user, so that's in the neighborhood of the $3500 USD range. Already have 2, 24'' IPS panels to plug in to this build. Given that, I've looked at the i7 6900K or the ryzen r7 1800X. Both 8 core 16 thread systems. However the R7 1800X is about half the price of the 6900K. This machine won't be used very often for gaming, if so it'll be older games from my steam library I have yet to get to. Linus / Luke, Mods, if your reading this, a great video topic would be "Content Creation Benchmarks on Ryzen" Anyway, tons of questions, for content creation in Premier would something like a GTX 10 series, or an ATI R9 perform better? How well does Corsair's 110 series AIO cooling solution work? Feedback on the Raid V array of WD Blacks for fast mass storage in this configuration? Given the number of SATA Channels is it work adding a Raid 0 array of SSDs for a scratch disk? According to newegg the 1800X does have virtualization technology support, anyone trying running VMWare or Unraid on a ryzen yet? General thoughts on the build....? So here's the link to the build on newegg (Also attached PDF): https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=36932007 Dank Ryzen Build.pdf

Starting a new graphic design job this week, and I'm already thinking ahead of what kind of monitor to use for the office, since I doubt I'll like the the they'll provide me. At home I'm using a Dell U2414H, and that's fine for me and my freelance work. However, I'm looking for something a bit more substantial for the agency. Looking for: 1440p, 24-27", loads of connectivity, <$1,000, and of course good color outta the box... If you work in design, print, or photography, what are your favorites? Thanks!

(Sorry for my terrible english, I'm french. I hope you will forgive me and be able to understand me) Hello everyone! I'm looking forward to making myself a nice Pc, but I would need indications for good monitors for content creation as I will mostly eddit video and pictures (I might game a bit, but more than 60 fps won't be needed as I won't be doing competitive stuff). So, I would need help to find a minimum 1080p panel that has a good color accuracy and is cheap. My budget is yet to be determined, but I wouldn't put more than 300$ CAD for a monitor. There are a few things I'd like in the monitor if possible: Dual HDMI in or the possibility to display a console and a Pc without needing to connect and disconect stuff. Headphones pass trough to be able to listen to the console games while gaming. I would be okay paying 100$ more for both thoses features. If you know an accurate monitor, please let me know! If you know any that have the added features I spoke about, great! Thanks!

Hello, I´m not even sure if this is the right place to ask this question, if not then I´m sorry. Now to the question: Does anybody know a descend "2 in 1" laptop hybrid which is good for art creation and editing like Photoshop or Paint Tools SAI ?(If possible not over the 1000€ price tag. Windows would be preferred.) It does not have to be a high-end, professional grade drawing experience but it should be pleased and not frustrating to draw on. Also, does anyone know if you can turn off touch recognition on those hybrids so that they only react to pens?

Hello everyone, So recently my old laptop has been running out of steam regarding new games (Can barely run STEEP on medium settings), and cant handle media creation as well as I would like it to. Would there be any laptop that would satisfy the following criteria: - Somewhat good looking - Must be able to run adobe CC (Photoshop, premier pro) - Run recent games at decent settings - okay battery life - Be under or around $2,000 USD Any suggestions are welcome! (Also I am not able to get a desktop at the current moment so that is why I am looking for a laptop instead)
