So first let me establish a couple things: I'm for physical media and like Luke said during WAN show once "real physical media, not just discs disguised as digital download codes". The title could be a tad click baitey as I'm not sure if it is truly accepted on PC, but feel like its been much more accepted, at least from my perspective as someone who actually returned to consoles for the physical media after being a PC gamer for quite a while. I'm not defending digital only, its good for some, but I don't want it to be the only standard, just pointing out an oddity that I've noticed and could be entirely wrong about, hence why I'm asking the community. So in my perspective it seems that Steam and Blizzard being digital only have been wildly accepted as just natural and I can't remember anyone ever really blinking an eye or raising an eye brow at the topic. PC was all digital and console was not. However as modern consoles have begun to switch to digital I've seen a flurry of discussions about media preservation, proper ownership, games being taken away after the fact (thanks Ubisoft) and loss of access due to down servers whether they're for the game or the platform you purchased them on. Those discussion points are great and I want them pushed further as I want physical media to stay permanently, but it feels like it's really only being and only has been directed at the consoles. Perhaps these discussions did take place as physical media for PC gaming began to drop off and I was just too young or not in the scene when it was occurring, but if we're going to have these discussions about media, ownership and online services, should we not have it about ALL forms of media on ALL platforms? How come streaming movies, music and downloading games on PC have seemingly been accepted but we draw the line at consoles. Should the line not be where any possibility of the removal of perpetual ownership of a piece of media is concerned? Perhaps I'm just becoming the old lady screaming at the clouds. lol Would love to know your thoughts on the subject and any information I might be missing. Also just for good measure, f### Ubisoft. lol

So I'm a huge fan of physical media, I even collect game discs for PC games, not just consoles, however an interesting question came to mind. So the idea behind having a physical disc at least for me is in the case that the online purchasing of the media is to ever go offline, I still have a physical copy I can install from. When installing Jedi Survivor on my Xbox Series X you can see in the attachment below that is claims just under 3GB on the disk were taken and the remainder was being downloaded. I might just be dumb or never paid attention to it until now, but with game sizes getting huge due to graphical increases, are companies no longer storing the entirety of a game on the disc itself? Has the disc become a type of download code? I certainly hope the entirety of the base game is on the disc for the sake of preservation, but it's not looking like it. Plus I don't know of any discs that can store 100s of GB. Took a cruise through Reddit and came across this discussion It would seem to suggest that discs are just download codes effectively and the only real plus side of them is to have that giant cool looking wall of just endless plastic and discs that you can awe at. Personally I'll keep buying physical for the principle and the awe affect, but I'm certainly concerned about the possibilities of personal preservation endeavors due to this idea. Also, I attached a photo of my console set up if you guys are interested. It isn't perfect, but it works pretty well, plus I have a power strip hooking all the consoles up, so I turn the power strip off whenever I'm not playing. I do this for electrical and fire safety reasons as I have a lot of older consoles that I don't trust being hooked up with power without my super vision. IMG_4434.HEIC IMG_4435.HEIC

I love collecting console games, retro, modern, etc. However I have a few concerns and am curious about possible improvements to the set up. You can see the wires, they're decently organized, but not fantastically plus the sheer quantity of them makes it hard to manage. Any ideas on how I can better manage/hide these cables, even if I should make a change in the shelf/stand I have a lot of retro consoles and a major concern of mine is that these electrical components are very old and because of that I don't trust them to be hooked up to power without my supervision. Currently I use a very large power strip which has a switch that I turn off whenever I'm not home and using a console in the set up. Is there a better way to go about this? Is there a better way to store the controllers, especially the wired ones? I worry that the wires are degrading as I wrap them around themselves and have noticed that they start to twist and take that shape permanently. I like things to appear fairly neat and be easy to get in and out. Any ideas? My original Xbox and Xbox One S need new feet however I haven't been able to really find any, someone know where I can find some? Is there anyway to protect my purchase in the case of a fire? Perhaps I could convert the physical library to digital in some cases and continue to use the discs for as long as they're available? I'm also looking for possible improvements to my desk set up and am curious if any of you guys have any ideas. I don't want to purchase a new desk as this one was quite expensive, but it has some size constraints and I was considering a few possibilities. A second Apple Studio Display. I always had duel monitors when I was a PC person, I've since switched to Apple Silicon for the time being. I love my Apple Studio Display, but I'm considering purchasing another identical model. The one concern is crowding my desk. I'd like to maintain what I call a messy minimalistic approach, there is also the concern of making my one wire set up a two wire set up for hooking up one of my Macs and reducing easy access to them. I'd like the server to be more hidden, but it runs Linux Mint so not everything is accessible in the terminal. I do tend to do most things via the terminal allowing SSH to be a great solution for most of the time. Is there perhaps some remote monitoring applications (free of charge preferably and not requiring an online account) that I could employ to maintain desktop access when required without needing an additional legacy monitor? I use the server to host my Valheim and Minecraft server. Should I adjust the storage of the lots of retro computers and parts I have? I use these for repairing/maintaining retro machines and am working on making some videos in regards to the equipment I have. I'm really hoping to minimize the cluttered look. Notes about the photos: I keep my RGB strip, Time Machine m.2 and usb dongle on the back of my Apple Studio Display, I've also recently added a USB SuperDrive (don't worry I didn't buy it new as that would be a total rip off). I have two Macs in vertical stands, one is my main machine an M1 Pro 14" and the other is an old Intel Mac from 2019 that I use only for Windows and playing some games that are only available on Windows. I use the shelving and platform to my right when facing my monitor to repair machines and stop tools and some software. The beige shelf stores more hardware and to the left of me in the photo is another hardware shelf. The legacy monitor is for my server and I'd love to retire and discontinue daily use, keeping it around only as a spare. Looking forward to your guy's recommendations.

Hi LTTers, Background My name is Tim, born in 1985 and avid gamer ever since I first held an NES controller and played my first 486DX PC. Me and my wife bought a house with a ton of space 2 years ago and I figured, about time I really get myself a dedicated gameroom. Back in my appartement my home office also functioned as a gameroom but with all this space I managed to give each specific thing (work/pleasure) its own room. I also host a pretty mean home lan every 6 months and now we are up to 14-16 people but more on that later. First some general info on what I am doing and why. I started this thread as I think it is a cool, ever evolving work in progress and I'm very much open to cool ideas and input from you guys to make things better or optimize specific parts of the room/setup. First things first, the network. Next to our garage there is a laundry room with a seperate cabinet which I decided to use as the main network hub of the house. We also have a couple of offices in the house and they are connected with a 10gbit link, there is some basic patching from this cabinet into the living area of the house for televisions and decoders, also POE AP's. The link to the gameroom is still 1gbit which kinda sucks as I also have an RS1221 NAS in the rack now over 10gbit but currently the main usage for the gameroom is basic internet and my current connection is only 1Gbit/down so no real use for 10gbit uplink. Eagerly waiting for 10gbit internet, should take a couple of months and 1Gbit really is enough for downloading some games but the uplink is only 50mbit which is horrible obviously. (the 10Gbit is also nice to have with our lanparties) Mainly using Ubiquiti stuff. Very pleased with how it manages and deploys. Every ethernet port in the house is POE, using Ubiquiti G4 Pro's as security cameras in combination with a 4 drive UNVR. There is another network hub in the office side of the house (we have 4 offices there) but that's not really relevant here. Just trying to give you guys an idea of the setup. September 2021 Collection Mania I always wanted a main media center with a big TV that had all sorts of consoles hooked up and ready to go. I still have a few consoles which I had as a kid or bought myself but I started out with this: NES Sega Gamegear Xbox 360 Xbox One Gameboy Switch At this point I wasn't even using my gameroom yet for that purpose and was still playing games from my office but I decided it was time to get things going. Time to add some missing consoles to the collection. I was very excited to discover the SNES, sometimes played it a friend when I was a kid but no real experience with it. What excited me most was the N64. For some reason, I always wanted one and I remember renting it from a video store sometimes to play Goldeneye and Diddy Kong Racing and have very fond memories of that. Sega Megadrive (Genesis). Also never had one, this one I also played at a friend. Mortal Kombat 3! Time to get some stuff together and start planning on how to set it up. I used the 65 inch TV from Sony that I had from my appartment to have a rudimentary setup in the room and used some old tv cabinet. Nothing fancy but atleast I could play games for now on consoles. October 2021 Being the PC masterrace guy that I am, it was about time to get my gaming setup going in the gameroom. I needed a dedicated gaming desk that fit the purpose: gaming. I looked into the secret lab but found it to be very expensive for what it was and I stumbled upon the Ikea gaming desk they had not long ago introduced. I HIGHLY recommend this for the price. Super rigid, cable management and the desk itself has a very nice texture and doesn't require you to use a mousepad. As you can tell, the definition of a work in progress. A BIG PHAT MESS I added a hue lightstrip on the desk in between the open space in the desk surface. Gives a great effect and it's awesome for easy cable management. December 2021: A minor network update to the gameroom I decided to get a decent switch. Planning ahead to install a 10gbit link between the gameroom (upstairs) and the main network rack of the house. I decided to go for a Ubiquiti Enterprise switch which has 2 x 10Gbit SFP and 8 x 2.5Gbe with POE+, plenty of grunt as a network backbone in the gameroom. Januari 2022 part 1: Console Cabinet First steps I finally figured it was time to get my consoles set up in a more decent manner. KALAX from Ikea, you are my favorite piece of furniture. I saw someone on pinterest doing something with a single KALAX using it as a TV stand with the consoles underneath and I decided to expand on that idea. I also added a Hue lightstrip behind the cabinet so I can create ambient lighting as I please. I plan to cover the rear of the cabinet so it is no longer see through but with individual lighting necessairy in each part of the cabinet, that's a lot of work and I wasn't really up for the job at that time. A to be continued project. Januari 2022 part 2: THE FIRST LANPARTY Ì always said, if I move into a house, I'm throwing a LAN party so end of januari it was about time. Time for some room upgrades and preparations. Going downstairs causes downtime, so, first I bought a fridge for the gameroom and did some cleaning before installing some tables. I added a table in between the console cabinet and left of my desk. After a supply run, got some snacks and drinks ready. I used my old dining room table from the appartment which fit perfectly behind the sofa (also recovered from my appartment) and we were able to seat around 10 people in the room. Sorry for the poor video quality but atleast now you have an idea what size the room is and how it looks like. Added the final tables, threw some cables around and the first LAN was a go with 8 people! And offcourse in between time for some retro games on the SNES (using an Analogue Super NT for this) Februari-April 2022: Minor upgrades After a succesful LAN it was waiting for the next one so time to keep upgrading the room in between LANS. I decided to get rid of the big table behind the couch and give the room a deserved LAN center upgrade by adding gaming desks. These Trust gaming desks are excellent value. You can get these sometimes well under 100 EUR/USD and they are solid. I wouldn't recommend these for 49 ultrawides but for a regular 34 wide-ish gaming setup, it is perfect. Also comes with cupholders and headphone holder! Also decided to do some cable management in certain parts of the room. (for the fixed gaming desks) Dedicated power bricks per table and a dedicated network switch. Should make it easier for people. Just arrive, plug and play! As you can tell, I also bought some gaming chairs for these tables We are MEN (and possibly some women) and we play videogames. But us men, we also like beer. So playing videogames whilst drinking beer, even better, so I got THIS: Get beers from draft, always cold and works great. Perfect addition for the lan room. Also I noticed all the empty bottles were such a hassle, this is MUCH easier. Then for some shelves to add some of the figurines. I relocated the old dining table and used 2 more foldable tables and for the upcoming edition, we were able to fit 10 people in the room! Once again, just a simple phone recording, so please ignore the bad quality, I will try for future posts to get the quality up! Also bought some XXL mousepads for the non-gaming desks. May 2022: LAN TIME June-July 2022: Arcade cabinets I always loved arcades as a kid so I decided to get some arcade machines. Could be fun to hang out with some friends and play some arcade games. These are not the real arcade cabinets but like 75% versions in size, good enough for what it is and gives a cool atmosphere to the room aswel! (also, Metal Slug is life) I also managed to get my hands on a Sega Dreamcast. I always wanted one as a kid and I am very excited to finally grab a good deal. Console in perfect condition, lots of accessories and plenty of games for a very fair price. Instantly had to try it out September 2022: Another LAN Coming Up, time for expansion and upgrades! Our lan is a huge success. I got more people wanting to come that I can seat, so I figured I would fix that issue. First I gave the small tables between my desk and the console cabinet a small upgrade and installed dedicated tables again including new gaming chairs. What was hard to tell on previous pictures, but there is a room inside the gameroom. I used this to expand on the LAN operation. The main room would now fit 8 people and the second room could fit 6 people. I used the party tables in the second room, removed the door to give it a more unified feeling instead of having everyone in seperate rooms and started preparing. I also received my Alienware AW3423DW QD-led screen which I ordered 2 months before. An absolute beast and even though I already had very good gaming monitors from Asus, this was a major step-up that I didn't expect to be honest. Preparing lan parties and setting tables is a lot of work and very messy Also decided to tackle a small bottleneck we had: downloading new games at the same time. I decided to set up a caching server. I wanted to replace my working computer at home eitherway so decided to use that system for it. It is a threadripper 1950x with 64Gb of RAM so plenty fast to fill a 10gbit adapter to the network. With some smart network layout, at most 3 people shared a 2.5Gbit link thru a switch to the caching server. Say hello to the tower of doom! (bottom is the caching server, top is my racing rig I decided to use as my main gaming rig, my old gaming rig in silver I used for a friend who didn't have a computer) The big Lian Li case on top used to be my main rig in 2016. 3 radiotors, 2 reservoirs, 2 pumps and hosted the threadripper and a 1080ti SLI setup all custom looped. I love that case. Currently it hosts a 5800x and 3090 with a simple cpu loop. Supply runs for the lan include toilet paper. Poop of Thrones volume 1 I have an extra toilet right next to the lan room so that is quite handy. We only need to leave the 'area' for food now Also added some more shelves and bought a lot of stuff in the meantime console wise. Also added an extra fuse and some new power outlets around the room to spread the power load for 14 computers. Nice overview showing the progress including all the network cables, power outlets on the tables. No more wires random on the ground and no chance to trip. Pleased with the result! Also added a screen to monitor the LANCache server on my setup. October 2022: FINAL LAN PREPS AND LANPARTY TIME Final room tour! LANparty in motion: December 2022: Dedicated LAN PC's I do have quite a bit of hardware around so I created some extra LAN pc's. Had to buy a case or PSU here and there but had several GPU, CPU and mobos around and my old 1440p 165hz gaming monitors. Bought 3 identical 60 percentile Sharkoon SGK50 boards (which are insane for the price, trust me, I'm a keyboard guy), 3 new headphones and 3 gaming mice. Now it's easier for a friday evening get togheter with some buddies, have a beer and play some quake champions or consoles. 2 systems running a 1070 GPU, 1 system my old 1080 ti. Still works great for those competitive multiplayer games. Februari 2022: Upcoming plans and LAN party End of april we have another LAN for 15ish people. Been super busy at work so not a lot of time recently so I opted to order what I needed already and start installing as soon as I have some spare time. Yesterday got home, a big pallet with 6 gaming tables to upgrade the second room to gamedesks. I already had ordered the gaming chairs to match also Next up is installing a stairs. You can't really tell from the pictures but there is a second floor inside the gaming room that currently is not accessible. Early april, a company will install a custom small footprint rotating stairs. Not sure what I will do with the layout but I have 4 more arcade cabinets coming and thinking about creating a small arcade upstairs. Pic to show the upstairs: I will put the stairs now where the table is right about where the Zelda poster hangs. My current console collection sits at: - Gameboy OG (oem en black) - GBC - GBA (fully modded IPS) - New 3DS XL (NIB in orange en CIB modded) - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Switch - PS1 Phat - PS2 Phat - PS3 Phat - PS5 - Mega Drive 1 - Dreamcast - Gamegear - Analogue Super NT - Xbox 360 - Xbox One - Xbox Series X - PSP1000 - PSP3000 - PS Vita 1000 Still looking for an OG Xbox, Sega Saturn, Sega Master System and a TurboGrafx / PC-Engine (mainly waiting on the Analogue Duo) To be continued...

Hi all, I recently bought a used PS5 off of Ebay. I was aware in the listing that the disk drive had been replaced after the original was not accepting disks, but the listing stated that the original had been put back into the console. I want to reface really quickly that I am aware of the right way to put the disks in (vertical console = label of disk facing left side of console, and horizontal console = disk is put in "upside down" (label of disk facing downwards), and have tried all of the following disks with the console in both orientations, with no difference. I also do not have any external devices plugged into the console (no accessories or external drives), which I had seen unplugging those to be a fix on some older threads i found on a few sites. The disk drive can detect DVDs and Blu-ray movies, but not games (I only have a PS4 game to test with but that should still work, and it's not on the "PS4 only games" list (it's Bloodborne, if you were curious )). The console states that "This disk isn't supported by the PS5" a few seconds after inserting the game. The disk drive will play DVDs just fine, but will error out when launching a Blu-ray disk ("Something went wrong". Error: CE-110558-0). I couldn't find that error code online except for an old Ebay listing, so idk what it refers to. I buy consoles marked as "for parts" since I am well acquainted with electronic repairs, so I thought I would just be able to crack into the disk drive and find some simple fix (It's amazing how often you can fix hardware issues just by reseating cables). Upon opening up the console, fishing out the disk drive (wasn't worried about warranty as the drive had been removed previously), and reseating cables/checking solder points/cleaning lens with high % IPA (not the drinkable one ofc), it still did not want to behave. I also went onto the Playstation support page to look for answers and tried accessing Safe Mode and selecting "Clear Cache and Rebuild Database", with no luck. Same thing for selecting "Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software)" - no luck there either. That's when I stumbled across the Ifixit part listing for the disk drive (I didn't see it at first when I went on the page for a guide, as it was part of the motherboard listing), where it stated that PS5 motherboards are paired to the disk drives, and games (I assume Blu-rays are part of it as well, assuming this is the issue) will not work when the disk drive is not the original, paired one. So, I am wondering if the drive not being the original is the root cause of my issues, or if there could be something i'm missing here. If the drive not being original is the case, I'm wondering if i should try to contact the seller to get the other, paired drive just to see if i can fix that one up, assuming the seller has it still and was willing to send it to me. . TL;DR: Bought a used PS5, disk drive was replaced by seller but original "was put back in", game disks won't read but DVDs do, and the motherboard and disk drives are supposed to be paired together, but I'm not sure if that is the issue as I am not able to confirm that this is the original disk drive. . Thank you all in advance for your help

I've been around theater set-ups my entire life (dad was an A/V nerd before it was cool) and one thing I've always hated was the step of setting the TV input to the receiver, then changing the receiver input to whatever device I'd like to use. My day-one (and day-540) setup with my Samsung TV has been utilizing the built-in input interface to switch between my consoles, and I'll be honest... it's REALLY nice having it cleanly integrated -- labeling my consoles as "PS4, PS5, etc", but this means I've had my Nintendo Switch and Xbox collecting dust for two years. For context, I went with a Sonos Arc + LR Ones + Sub for my surround system, rather than getting an AV receiver and some in-wall speakers. I know the standard option here would be to get an HDMI switch, but that sends me back to adding an extra step (select switch > select input device on switch). I've been spoiled using the single interface for everything, but I'm willing to spend more if there's a way to natively extend this. I should probably also note, my Samsung TV is actually a Samsung The Premiere projector, so I only have 3 HDMI in ports to work with and one goes to the Arc. My end goal here is really to figure out a wireless solution to transmit and receive this solution to all my TVs in the house via a matrix configuration with HDMI / USB transmitters + Bluetooth dongles and to use any console on any TV, anywhere.

Summary A leaked video posted on Twitter (via Reddit & Imgur) has shown a basic version of the console with a very simple interface. This may not be the final product, but a good look at what is operating this device. Quotes My thoughts (take this article with a small grain of salt) Android? I expected Sony to make their own operating system. Of course, not a complete new system, but like a dumbed-down PS5 operating system. I do believe this being powered by Android may be a big possibility for 3rd-party games. This is shaping to be a better competitor to the Steam Deck. If Sony does it right, this can run Android games. More choices that Steam for sure. Sources the verge

Summary Sony has confirmed a handheld accessory for the PlayStation 5 named (for the moment) “Project Q” at the PlayStation Showcase. Quotes My thoughts Why does it have to be streamed!!!! We could’ve finally had a competitor to the Switch, but of course they are going for the streaming aspect. Haven’t we learned from Stadia? Now, I know those are 2 completely different things, but it’s still streamed games. It will be better because it’s only 30 feet away instead of 300 miles away. I think streaming games is pointless. You can tell me how good streaming games really is, but you need a good argument to change my mind. I also know that someone will switch me into thinking streaming is a good idea. But I’ll try to keep my opinion safe. Sources the verge twitter

How this starts is I was replacing the 10+ year thermal paste off of the PS3. This was my first time disassembling and reassembling of the console and I put 90% of it back together to make sure everything was working when I realized the disc drive wasn't working properly. Like it incerted and ejected games but not read them. So I tried to re attach the ribbon cable several times which I didn't realize the latch for the ribbon had been broken until it broke off completely. The one on the disc drive I was easily able to reconnect and disconnect it just not on the main board. My question then if I get a replacement how would I go about keeping the ribbon cable there? Oddly enough not having the disk drive prevents me from accessing homebrew apps like multi man to atleast backup my files.

Hello once again, As you all know, Sentry 2.0 crowdfunding campaign ended almost 2 years ago. In the last few months we received many, many emails, pm’s and tweets from you guys asking if we will make another run of the case. Because of the pandemic situation last year was very busy for us at our daytime jobs, so we really did not know if and when we would be able to move forward with this project. Since the time we were designing Sentry 2.0, we have seen AMD’s Zen2 and Zen3 launch as well as 300W+ TDP GPUs becoming more mainstream, so we had to start thinking about catching up to the PC components evolution with our product design. At this point we are considering making changes/improvements in the below fields: - improving ventilation, - analyzing adding support for thicker GPU cards, - analyzing adding support for full height 120 AIO’s in GPU chamber, - analyzing adding support for Founders Edition Nvidia GPU cards, - making changes in the vertical stand, to simplify manufacturing of this component, - analyzing possible changes in galvanization process of the Sentry, - changing the manufacturing methods to use molds, which should allow us faster production and even better final quality, while keeping the last revision’s price (or even make it lower), - redesigning shipping box to make it smaller, which will result in cheaper shipping cost, - many smaller changes to improve manufacturing time and improving final quality of product. The most time consuming part of the above changes is designing the molds, which not only improve the quality of the final product, but also will allow us to make it faster in bigger quantities. It also means we will need some time to prepare for it properly. While we are still gathering your ideas on what we could or should improve, we would like to do so within the SFF community here, so if you have any ideas for the next version of Sentry, make sure to write them here on the forums and also discuss them with others. With regards DR ZĄBER Sentry Team

Being as we live in a small space, I'd like to get a portable display to play my PS4 on. The trouble is, none of the recognizable brands for TV or Monitors appear to make portable displays. I was wondering if anyone here uses portable displays and what brands are good to use.

I am trying to get my PC onto a MAC filtered network that is dedicated for gaming consoles. The general WIFI makes gaming on my PC impossible, but my Xbox does just fine on its dedicated network. In order for my console to be allowed onto the network, I have to take a picture of the "advanced network settings" page on my Xbox so they can manually enter in its MAC address. The network is not password protected, just seems to be MAC filtered. I could be completely wrong about most or all of this, but this is what I did according to my current knowledge: I had the idea of manually changing my PC's MAC address and IP address. I found a couple tutorial videos on YouTube for doing just that, but my network card and it's software does not have the option to change it's MAC address (Realtek 8822BE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCI-E NIC). I have tried downloading different software to see if it gave me different options, but that was a no-go. I found the setting that I need (as per YouTube tutorial = Locally Administered Address) in my Intel(R) I211 Network Connection Properties, and changed my MAC, IP, DNS, and a few other things to what my Xbox's is, but that also didn't work. I could be doing something wrong, but there aren't exactly many tutorial videos about this online (at least what I could find). I talked to a few friends that are a little more technologically inclined than I am, and they motioned that there is probably a network simulator that makes my PC look like a console when trying to connect to a network. I was wondering if anybody out here would know of such a thing because google isn't doing much justice. I don't quite know exactly what to look for either I have attached screenshots of my Network Adapters from Device Manager, and also the advanced settings for my Realtek network card in the case that I missed important details. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Finally managed to get Dolby Atmos working for my PS4 and Wii. Here is my setup: PS4/Wii --> HDMI Audio Extractor (3.5mm Out) --> PC (3.5mm Mic In) --> Dolby Access (PC) --> Headphones If you guys want to do this remember to turn off Mic Boost on the Win10 microphone properties, It'll remove the weird audio levels. The only thing I'll add to this setup would be a better audio interface instead of my PC's Mic In.

Summary A new platform known as "playerWON" is launching TV-style ads inside console games, directly targeting younger audiences who have avoided these ads in other media sources. Reporting shows around a dozen games will receive updates to implement in game ads by Q2/Q3 2021 --Edit: these are games mentioned in the article not necessarily games with advertising coming in 2021-- Games listed include: Hi Rez Studios - Smite Electronic Arts - Battlefield and Madden NFL serieses free-to-play market titles: Call of Duty: Warzone Roblox Simulmedia's (owner of PlayerWON) testing shows 22% of people are more likely to play a game and 11% more likely to spend money within that game if they were shown in-game ads which provide "perks" or "other in game incentives" My thoughts This is an unfortunate byproduct of the militant march of advertising companies to completely encompass every aspect of every person's lives, pigeon holing the populous into niche markets and destroying open opinion and artistic integrity of beautiful works. I don't think for a second that this move came from the game designers, artists, programmers, cinematographers, composers or anyone else who cares greatly for the work they are producing. This move came from a group of "bottom line first" studio execs who have no interest in games, their culture or their player's experience. The same scum who made micro-transactions, loot boxes, gatcha games, and "season passes" for experience breaking maps in multiplayer games. This is pathetic and desperately needs to be regulated and corrected. In my personal opinion, this is the same as CocaCola putting a polar bear and bottle cap logo on a Rembrandt. No one really wants government oversight on their hobbies, this is one I would gladly welcome a 90% tax on every ad placed in a game, bleed this company's revenue until it goes bankrupt and then ban advertising on works of art. People thinking this isn't going to become "normal" needs to look at the toxic state of mobile games to see how bad this idea actually is. Everyone thought "it's just a mobile game, it's free, I don't mind an ad or two" and now you can't get a game without video ads or banners blocking the game screen and burning through your data. I recently got a couple broken consoles that I've been repairing to learn more about electronic internals, and I have a SNES that looks like it got water damaged (best guess). The top layer of the PCB, the green coating flaked off and theres some exposed copper. Is there something I can coat that with to prevent issues, or would the whole board be a write off at this point. None of the traces seem damaged.

Hey guys, I'm really stuck and would love some help if anyone here has already done this. For the last few weeks I've been losing my mind trying to get this game patched on my jailbroken PS4 Pro. I'll admit this is super new territory for me, but I was stunned when I saw one of my favorite games running at a playable frame pace. So I thought the pain of learning about jailbreaking my console and patching games with custom mods would be worth it. The good news is I did successfully get my console to consistently jailbreak. The bad news is I cannot for the life of me get the game patched. Here's what I've been able to do so far: 1. I've been able to successfully dump the appdata of the game. (Yes, I actually own the game. I've not torrented anything) 2. I've been able to create .gp4 files and .pkg files using that data and the patch from Lance Mcdonald 3. I've been able to reinstall the new .pkg file on my console (however it is not actually correctly patched and almost broke the game entirely) But this is where things get super fuzzy for me. Like I said, I haven't done this before. It's been a little hard sorting through valuable info on this topic. The jailbreaking info is there, but its hard to get a straight guide on patching Bloodborne with this patch that isn't directed towards someone who's very familiar with jailbreaking. The data I'm able to extract from Bloodborne is there with an original app folder and a patch folder. The only way I can create an actual .gp4 and then .pkg file is with the contents from the app folder, not the patch folder. That doesn't sound like an issue, but the game needs to be patched using only version 1.09. The data in the app folder is only 1.03 or 1.0 I think? I've tried creating a .gp4 with the patched folder contents and then applying Lance's patch, but it never works. I guess what I'm asking is for someone to walk me through this like I'm 5. I'm not sure what I've missed and any help would be super appreciated.

Hey is there such thing as an adapter that makes USB Audio & Mic work on the Series X just like there is for Controllers on CronusMax and Titan which tricks the Xbox into thinking it's an Xbox Controller? I wish to do this for Xbox games that support Keyboard & Mouse like Sea of Thieves and others and I'll probably use my Roccat SOVA Lapboard for Xbox as got 2 USB ports (1 for Mouse and 1 for my Soundblaster G1) or use my Yamaha AG03's 3.5mm port. Closest thing I can think of is USB wire the Xbox Controller to the Xbox and connect the 3.5mm port to the Controller.

I need some help finding a component on a Gameboy Micro. Its label on the chip reads "MITSUMI JAPAN 523 H PM C". I've tried looking all over for this thing and can't find it for sale anywhere. I know the Gameboy Micro was a pretty niche console, but there has to be one of these chips laying around somewhere. I've looked on Aliexpress and Digikey and a bunch of other places with no luck. It seems like for GB components you mostly find GBA or GBA SP stuff, and the parts are not the same as the GBM. I'm totally stumped, and buying another one on ebay or finding a replacement motherboard seems like a waste if I could just fix what I have with this one chip. In general I don't actually know what this chip does, but I know its important because it got destroyed on my GBM after getting water damaged and the console will not turn on whatsoever, despite lighting up momentarily when plugging in the AC adapter. My guess is that it has to do with power delivery to the CPU from the battery or something.

I know I'm not the first to say this so I am interested in doing the same thing. The ol PHAT PS3s tend to suffer from heat and would like to water cool the system. My problem is I can't find any waterblock designed for a PHAT PS3. Koolance and OCool aren't available anymore so I wonder if anyone can help me out in finding a good waterblock to use?

I'm sorry if people have already seen or posted about this, I didn't see this after searching for it. It didn't seem to fit in the console section, either, but maybe that's my lack of clear judgement. My apologies. Delete or move if necessary So, I saw this ad on Facebook a few times, and I'm surprised I didn't see anyone else talk about it. Either from how cool (or how stupid) it sounds. Basically, it's a scientific instrument, but it's also a... game console. You play the games (the games are VERY simple by the way. Space Invaders level), and these liquids drip through these nanopore things. This does some science stuff, and depending on what game you play, you're basically researching different parts of biology and stuff. Seems pretty wacktastic. Please go to their website and read what it's all about. If it's true and they can pull it off, it would be pretty dang cool. But it's also from an ad I saw on Facebook, so I'm not exactly itching to support it right away for obvious reasons. Or really believe what I see. It's Facebook after all. All pictures are from their website, they have more info there. I don't know about "Investing" in their stuff, as I don't know the legitimacy of it all so far. Cool to think about, though. The screenshots with the drawn TV are apparently from the actual data and gameplay (quote from their website, was a GIF). Molecular Reality Demonpore 64 page

I fail to see why not? They could ask Intel for CPU & graphics, that may require a bigger PS5 model to deal with the heat? Or they can go to Nvidia and make a ARM 8-core with Nvidia chip? Which may require some software work but either way why not at this point when AMD & TSMC is failing to fullfill the orders? They could also go to both? One for CPU and one for GPU...

since new gen consoles will have more upscaled 4k than native 4k I am wondering how will 1800p look on my 65" tv (LG CX). some people say that it looks as good or near native 4k and others say that it looks really bad. does it depend on the game? does an upscaled 4k game look as good as a native 1400p game? thankyou.
