I've bought three fans for my new computer (3x Aigo Darkflash CX6), but I only have one fan connector, besides the one for the CPU fan, in my motherboard (Gigabyte AMD B450M S2H). I'm afraid that when I connect them 3 together and then plug them in the motherboard, its connector will be damaged. Do I have to use a splitter of some kind (for exemple: this one) or are my fears dismissible? Links for the parts and their specs (hope it helps): Fans: https://www.pichau.com.br/kit-ventoinha-aigo-darkflash-cx6-3x120mm-cx6-3in1 and https://darkflash.com/tw/product/show.php?num=68 Motherboard: https://www.gigabyte.com/br/Motherboard/B450M-S2H-rev-1x#kf In advance, I thank you all for any help/opinions given.

My motherboard is an MSI MAG Tomahawk Max Wi-Fi (X570s chipset), the cooler a Cooler Master ML120L RGB, and the case is a Phanteks Enthoo Pro (tempered glass version). QUESTION ONE: Fan connections and reporting. Radiator fan goes to CPU_FAN1 AIO block goes to PUMP_FAN1 Case fan PWM hub goes to SYS_FAN1 The radiator and case fan wires are 4-pin (PWM), and the block fan wire is 3-wire (DC). Now, when I look at the fan data in BIOS, it shows zero RPM for CPU_FAN1 and an RPM value for PUMP_FAN1. I've attached screenshots of this. Am I missing something here, or is that the opposite of what it should be? What changes, if any, need to be made? QUESTION TWO: Motherboard connector labels. The silkscreen labels on the motherboard are, save one exception, clear. The one which isn't, is our friend, PUMP_FAN1. Next to it there's an arrow pointing to the corner of the motherboard, with the word "DIP" right above it; this is not documented anywhere. To me the "DIP" means there's a DIP switch somewhere, but there's none to be found. A picture of this is attached. What is the relationship between the arrow, "DIP", and header, or some combination thereof? Does any of this have anything to do with the fan issues from question one?

Hey guys I need some help. I have the Asus Z690-P D4 motherboard. On this motherboard there is the following headers: AIO PUMP, CPU FAN, CPU OPT. I am connecting an AIO and 4 additional fans. I believe I connect the AIO pump to AIO pump header, and the fans go to a hub then the CPU FAN. Am I correct? Please correct me if I’m wrong. And what do I do to the CPU OPT, what is that?

Hi there I really don't know how to address this issue or even name the topic but in short terms I want to but a Seasonic Core GM 500W PSU ( https://seasonic.com/core-gm ) and I am concerned about one thing. I want in the near future to buy a GTX970 that requires 2 6pin connectors and the PSU only has one 8pin cable coming from the actual box. Now in the manufacturers website in the listed accessoryes it has this weird cable that has 2 6/8pin connectors along one cable ( https://seasonic.com/core-gm#cables ). Is it safe for me to run? P.S first time builder here

I've been looking up something and I wanna try putting an aRGB fan inside my case. In my case I already have a Lighting Node Pro that I bought previously, I've seen videos that enables aRGB lightings from other brands that works with the Node Pro using a 3 pin to a Dupont Connector. I've been looking up on the internet on where to find it locally but I've noticed it's only on sale in the U.S. I found that the VDG Adapter looks similar to the Dupont connectors that corsair uses and it is widely available on my locality. I wonder if it is possible for it to work or not, I haven't done enough research though.

I'm replacing the motherboard of my Dell Vostro 200 (G33M02 motherboard) with a board from an HP Prodesk 400 G1 Microtower (MS-7860 motherboard). Unfortunately, the front power connectors (power button, power button light, HDD light) seem to be in slightly different positions. See here: MS7860 Vostro 200 On the Vostro, only 6 pins are in use. I tried looking up a pinout and this is the closest I got from a thread on tomshardware (https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/cant-figure-out-where-to-plug-in-case-front-panel-connector.1548332/) HDD+ PWL+ HDD- PWL- RST PWS RST PWS NO NO NO NO I can only assume the RST PWS row was put in twice in error because that would make this have 12 pins. HDD+/- and PWL+/- seem to be in the same place, but on the HP motherboard pin 6 is not present (PWS). 4 pins are missing in the picture, which does coincide with the new board's 4 pins which I don't think are needed. The same guy in the tomshardware post says "reset switch and power switch plug it as you like." which implies they can be swapped with no issue. If this is true, can I get the front connectors working if I carve a hole out of the case connector for pin 9 since it's blocked off there, but non-functional on the board? If needed, I have a multimeter to test the connectors in case something is wrong. Thanks in advance.

Power supply cables not fitting into GPU power inputs.
SaintOfReach posted a topic in Power Supplies
Hey, all. I'm building a PC atm and ran into a problem I haven't had before. The GPU and power supply in question are the EVGA FTW 3080ti and EVGA 1000 GT Supernova, respectively. This GPU has 3, 8 pin power inputs. The cables that came with the power supply are 2, 6 + 2 inputs and 3 double 6 + 2 inputs. My problem is that on the double 6 + 2 cables the second 6 + 2 connector (the connector towards the middle of the cable) just don't fit into the power inputs on the GPU. I tried with the first 6 + 2 connector (the connector on the end of the cable) of the double cable on the different ports as well as the single 6 + 2 power cables and they all worked on all the GPU power inputs. I'm kind of at a loss. The connectors all visually look the same, but the second 6 + 2 connectors on the double cables consistently don't fit in the any of the GPU power inputs. Anyone run into this issue before? Files/Pictures attached for clarity of what I'm talking abt.- 4 replies

Ahoy! Today I was the lucky recipient of a very shitty yet competent looking PC that serves well for my multimedia purposes on TV. That being said, it does not turn on. Try as I might, nothing worked. So I pulled out the power cables, and I plugged around... for an hour, with the manual, and nothing worked. I also found this weird white connector from the power supply, that had this like wedge shape like as if it were to fit in a kind of notch. Anyways, I'm stumped. How do I connect it all? A sort of visual representation of how to lay it out would be nice. Thank you, and I'm sorry if I seem a little dumb or I just missed something, I just kind of had a long day )': -RA111

I was building a brand new pc and i had to connect a 4+8 cpu power connector, and by accident I connected the wrong part of the split secondary connector, the 4 pin connector had all round edges instead of 2 squared and 2 rounded. Could this be the reason why even opening a browser, such as chrome and edge, the pc shouts down? Could the psu have been damaged? Another thing is that uninstalling the nvidia drivers and reinstalling them the gpu fans went 100% and the PC was up and running even using edge and such, but by rebooting it the problem was still there again.

The Wikipedia page for the M.2 specification mentions that an A keyed M.2 connector provides (among others) a 4x Displayport interface . Has anyone ever seen an application were this is used? How could it be useful to have an internal display interface?

Hello. So I'm thinking to make a pretty good pc for 2,000 euros. I was thinking if every RGB cable will connect with my motherboard, I've done some research myself, and I found that the case fans and the AIO needs a 3-pin but my motherboard only has 2x 3-pin connectors. But I'm not no expert so idk if I can connect them to any other connectors. Now about what I will use it for, I'm gonna use it for games like Beam ng, sons of the forest, Hogwarts and other fancy looking games. Also some video editing and streaming. I also wanted to see if there is any other motherboard that has all the right connectors and doesn't have to be updated to use my CPU. Also will my PC be good with a 850w PSU if not I'm open for a recommendation. Maybe I could also make my pc cheaper but still make it look aesthetically good. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gsxVpH

I am looking to buy a RX 580, but it has a 8 pin connector, while my system only has a 6 pin. I am wondering if 6 pin + sata power to 8 pin connectors exist and if they will even work for this purpose. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Processor: Xeon E3-1225 Graphics: R7 240 Memory: 12 GB DDR3

Hi, I recently bought a p400A phantex case and the front panel buttons are not working properly. From the manual I see that the from left it should be RBG button, second led and third reset reset, d-rgb, d-rgb color. However when I press the reset d-rgb button, nothing happens. Led button, nothing happens (edit: I think I need the d-rgb cable connected for that.. sorry, the reset issue still persists), And the first leftmost button (reset) just either shuts the fans off and turns monitor off as if the computer just wen to sleep but keeps the ligths (ram, gpu, front panel) on, or just starts blasting the fans at full speed (turning monitor off) both feel as if the system is restarting, but isnt, the power button at this point stops functioning. My full build: 5700 xt nitro tuf gaming x570 plus Also, when I start the computer the fans are red and then sometimes just stay red, and sometimes switch to the RGB mode. They are controllable from the armory when they function normally, but when they stay red only the "dark" setting works switching them off. The RGB ram sticks work all the time. I have checked a billion times the reset and power pins on the motherboard following the x570 manual I also plugged in one of the rbg cables coming from the panel into mobo (shown on picture) and the other one left as is. Feel free to ask any questions. Any help or ideas appreciated.

Hello guys. Simple, I was swapping a CPU cooler and a couple fans on my x79 system and it all went smooth sailing. At one point I realized that i did not connect the fan LEDs. I was an idiot and tried to connect them with the system on... anyway, I didn't even get to plug them in when everything went down and off. Been troubleshooting for a couple hours, no dice. My motherboard is a GB X79 UP4.I am new to the forum but I have stopped by this site many times in the past. I also went over the "perform these steps before post/boot/no video problems!" thread on another forum that should pop up with a google search. That did not help solve the issue either. If anyone has some good input it would be greatly appreciated, even if it means to go on the hunt for an x79. I need this workstation running as soon as possible since I have work to do on it. TLDR: Is my motherboard dead after messing with connectors with power on? If not, any suggestions? Thanks guys.

Hey guys! I just got a lil' problem and friend told me to come on here. 2 years ago, I got this machine from ibuypower, as I was too lazy to build it. However, I came to change the graphics card today(MSi GTX970 Gaming) and upgrade it to a new one (MSI Gaming X 8G 1070). Installation went fine, as I had check for compatibility and power consumption... except for one detail. I need a 6-pin and a 8-pin and currently have two 6-pin conectors... My psu has no other connectors except for a 4 pin connector... I would love to know if changing my PSU is the only solution I have... I can,t put the 970 back in because I promised to sell it to a friend and would rather trash the whole system than go back on my word... Here is supplementary info conecerning the system itself: Mobo: AsRock 97 Anniversary Ram: 16GB CPU: i7-4790k I also joined some picture of the system(Including the psu for any who should need it) Thanks a bunch NetCancer PS: Time is not of the essence, as i have two-screen setup running on the lastest MSI Phantom. That means i can wait for new parts to arrive or people to find more extravagant solutions.

Hello everyone, I have been learning all the ins and outs of everything PC for the last 2 weeks or so, and i need some help here. For whatever reason, i can't wrap my head around fans. I know that there are 3 and 4 pin connectors, and that some fans are either connected to the PSU or to the MOBO. That's the result of roughly 4 hours of googling, looking up tutorials, scouring through forums, etc. So i ask of you, please, help me out a bit here?... (Parts): Case: "Fractal Design Define Mini C" (Manual) Motherboard: Probably the "ASRock AB530M-Pro4" (Manual) CPU: "Ryzen 5 1600" (stock cooler) GPU: "Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 6GB WindForce OC" PSU: "SeaSonic M12II EVO 520 Watt Modular" Questions: If i were to get another 120 mm front fan, how would i hook all this up? Would i hook up the back fan to the 4 pin connector, and one of the front fans to the motherboard? What would i do with the third fan, or could i get some kind of splitter that would allow me to plug 2 fans into one connector? What is the exact difference between a 3 and 4 pin connector? Would i need some kind of external controller to control the fan speed of my fans, or would the system handle the speed itself? Any further information on setting up fans, and possible examples or suggestions are always welcome! Thank you for your time.

Ok, so i am thinking about purchasing the MSI z270 xpower gaming titanium mobo or the Asrock z270 Super carrier mobo MSI Titanium https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130968 Asrock Super carrier https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157753&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Motherboards+-+Intel-_-N82E16813157753&gclid=CjwKEAjwl9DIBRCG_e3DwsKsizsSJADMmJ11FK704XLz3GeHrgu5IHsF7wjBFgk5yLKtr3NHBROU8RoCbiXw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds I want to get a few of (potentially up to 7 but probably not) the cooler master master fan rgb (120mm,140mm) the asrock says it has 1 aura rgb connector thing (the fans run of aura software) and the msi says it has one 4 pin rgb connector so does this mean that i can only have 1 fan on the as rock controlled with rgb and 4 on the msi board? i am trying to avoid as much fan splitter things that a manufacturer recommended to someone in a newegg comment i read about the fans. i basically need help understanding what i will be getting into later this year when i purchase these and which one i should probably purchase. (im currently leaning more towards the asrock) if there are just as good silver mother boards out there as one of these two i will consider it (socket 1151). thank you in advanced
