I have recently moved house and ethernet is no longer an option for my pc so i bought the intel ax200 card(https://www.umart.com.au/product/intel-wi-fi-6-ax200-m-2-2230-gig-a-and-e-key-sockets-ax-bt-module-no-vpro-oem-brown-box-64837) to get working wifi for my system the card when first connected was able to sustain a connection but at very low speed, at least 10 times slower than the laptop sitting directly next to it, it is now no longer able to hold a connection at all and when it connects to any network it gets no access i was wondering what my next steps should be to try and fix this. i have so far, installed the generic intel drivers, uninstalled the device and restarted the system and as followed the changes to settings listed here https://community.intel.com/t5/Wireless/Intel-Wifi-6-ax200-Dropping-connection/m-p/665237 ( Change the channel width from "Auto" to "20 MHz" Disable Fast BSS Transition Roaming)

So I didn't use my pc for 2 to 3 months now and when I turned it on yesterday, it keeps saying "your device is connected and can access other devices on you local network, but may not be able to reach the internet...." I tried everything from reinstalling my network drivers, network reset, ipconfig /release /renew /flushdns, netsh winsock reset and int ip reset. Still it won't connect, I don't want to reinstall windows as there are a lot of files that are very important. The cable and router is not broken because when I transferred the cable to a laptop, it works just fine. I really really need help. p.s is windows troubleshoot useless? It never worked for me :D

Hello everyone, I've been having this issue lately where my laptop just doesn't show any networks when I open my WiFi settings, even though there are loads of them nearby. I had this problem for a few weeks at one pointbefore, and then it just seemingly fixed itself, before going wrong again the next day. Ethernet works fine. My friend who knows a lot about IT (but not Windows since he's a heavy Linux user) has a theory that I have a loose WiFi card that is shaking itself sometimes into and out of place, but the 'fixing itself' thing happened while my laptop was on a table completely stationary so I doubt this, although I won't rule it out. I've already tried all the solutions involving windows settings, drivers etc. that I could find on Google, no help. Does anyone know what could be going on? The student accomodation place I live at has an open network and I don't use antivirus because of how it hinders everything with its constant irritating popups and thinking games and the apps I use are viruses and also since I know what I'm doing when it comes to not clicking on dodgy links / buttons, but could I still have got malware in some other way? (Sorry to every cybersecurity guy here, I know I probably just made you slam your face into your desk) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alright so for some reason my network infrastructure developed a problem yesterday, I have a symmetric gigabit connection, but I can only download at ~3Mbps (uploads are fine), I have my PC connected to a mikrotik CSS326 via ethernet, which is connected to a CRS305 via OS2 fiber, which is connected to my router via ethernet. I replaced a dead cable yesterday (when I had the dead cable I was getting ~150Kpbs), and I would get normal speeds for a few hours, now I get garbage, and no matter what port on the router I switch to I get the same result (great speeds for a few hours then awful ones after), I'm thinking that one of switches is acting up. What do you think? EDIT: I know it's not an issue on my ISP's end because it only happens to my device, and I can remote into my CSS326 from my PC, and my CRS305 from another device just fine, but remoting into my router is super slow. EDIT 2 (11:18 AM GMT-4): I might have found the root of the problem, but any insight is still helpful, since I don't know for sure.

Idk if this is the right place for this but worth a shot. So my internet is having problems. It is slower than usual all of a sudden and when 2 people or more are playing, it seems to basically shut down for a few seconds very often. Is this a sign of a bad router or are there other things I should try?

My friend has the connectivity issues with almost every online game he plays. The problem is, he suddenly gets disconnected and is kicked out of the session, even though he is still speaking with me on Discord, without lags or "robo-voice." This happens to him all the time in games and apps like: UNO, Hearts of Iron 4, World War Z, Parsec, Monopoly Plus. He does not have the issue with Rainbow Six Siege and The Division 2. He is on Desktop PC with a wired connection. I know this is a general question and there could be many reasons for this to happen, but any suggestion helps.

My current computer has been having ethernet issues for a year(for as long as i have it). All other devices on the network do not have this issue, updating the driver does not fix this, neither does resetting windows(which is up to date). Sometimes i don't disconnect for nearly a week but usually i disconnect 10 to 30 times a day. Although windows troubleshooter always fixes it it has given like 10 different reasons by now and it often happends again a couple of times a few minutes after fixing it. I have also noticed that it is more likely to happend if the internet usage is higher. And it also happends on both wifi and ethernet although those use seperate adapters. Here are some specs that might be usefull: OS:Windows 10 Home Ethernet adapter: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller(Driver version: 10.010.0714.2016) Link to the router/modem(both are in a single device) http://www.icbn.com.tw/products/product_view_en/28 If anyone requires more information, feel free to ask for it and i'll likely give you it within a day max. Few days ago one of my ports died, and the next day after i checked it up by my ISP (they usually don't ask to bring the router to them) and after a lot of tinkering somehow it worked (he was shocked as he basically gave up on it and 5 min later it started to work again) . Later when i log into Linux_ it does not connect. If i just change the port (on the router), it connects with no issue. Also i have 2 other computer that CANNOT connect to that port.

I've been messing around with Private Internet Access for the last few days. I'm really liking it. The iOS app is super easy to use and it doesn't slow down my connection as much as I thought it would. The only problem was that when I have my phone connected to the VPN, I can't use it to activate my Phillips Hue bridge, so I have to use a light switch like a regular person *shudders* So my solution was to install it on my router, so all my devices can have VPN goodness. Therefore, I started some research, found dd-wrt as a good custom ROM (I've never flashed a firmware before, it was fun!) and got to work on getting PIA to work. My first attempt was... less than successful. I thought I had followed everything to the letter, but when all was done, I could access some websites (Google, LTT, a few others), but other websites (anything that had to do with checking your IP address or location, and even privateinternetaccess.com itself) just would not load. So I restored settings from a backup and tried again, and it was even less successful. Now, nothing would load. At this point, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I think its the way my network is set up isn't playing very nice with the help page. My router is connected to the main router via ethernet cord. I have my router set up to a different SSID than the main network (because my family doesn't need to see me) and I have hidden the network by not broadcasting the SSID. I think the problem is with the WAN Connection Type. I'm using Automatic Configuration - DHCP. The setup guide wants me to change it to Static IP, and I think that's what is bugging the system out. The problem is, I'm new to the world of network configuring, and I have no idea on how to fix it. Any ideas?

Hi LLTT community, this is my first time posting so please excuse any misformatting, I was wondering if anyone could tell me the issue with my Overwatch voice chat. Every time I enter a match (of any kind) I see "entered the team voice chat 0/6 players in chat" This is extremely frustring, I have tried everything on the following list - Asking in the forums -Sending blizzard a ticket -resetting all in game settings from inside the game -Resetting all game settings from blizzard app -changing mic settings -changing parental setting(just for good measures) -messing with the sound settings in my computer -deleting the game and reinstalling -deleting both Overwatch and the blizzard app off of my computer Any help would be greatly appreciated, I believe that one of the issues might be the network at my university but I don't know, this is really frustrating and I appreciate any help that is offered.

The problem I'm having is that whenever I wake up my laptop from hibernation it occasionally (about 1 out of 3 times) forgets how to connect to our wifi completely, to the point where the drivers seem to be completely missing, but then after anywhere between a few minutes, and hour, or the millionth time I've restarted it, it suddenly can connect again with no issues. I don't understand what could be happening, I've already run Malwarebytes and my antivirus software at least 3 times each now to see if there's something malicious doing this with little to no results. Has anyone else had a similar issue or know what could cause this? Because I'm about ready to just reset my computer if this keeps up. OS: Windows 10 Processor: AMD A8-5545M APU 1.70 GHz RAM: 8.0 GB (7.20 Usable) System Type: 64-bit operating system. Any help you can offer would be most appreciated. I would like to avoid resetting my computer if possible, but if not then so be it.

I upgraded from a 5+ year old wifi router and modem about 3 days ago. Everything was smooth and fast when I first set it up, but now for whatever reason my PS4 and Windows 8.1 PC have very bad connections. They will either refuse to connect all together, or will briefly connect with less than 50 kb/s download and upload. I can't even load speedtest.net. I have pinged a couple of different sites and not once has all four packets made it, and the few that do have 600+ ping. I have been trying for the past 9 hours to fix my PC only to just recently find out my PS4 has gone to garbage too. I've tried: Updating the drivers (both with the automated Windows feature and going directly to the website for the drivers and they both show I am up to date.) Changing the WiFI channel. Restarting everything many different times and different ways. Changing between b/g/n modes on the router. Using different connections to the router (2.5ghz and the guest connection.) Changing the security settings of the router (WEP, WPA2, and open) Scanning my PC for viruses Looking for programs that might be limiting my bandwidth. I big possibility is that the WiFi router doesn't send a very reliable signal. I connected my 3DS to it on the same floor as my PC and the signal strength was all over the place. My PC is two floors away from my router, which is in my basement (I know this is the worst possible place for it, but the idiot that wired my house put the living room, the basement, and most of the top floor all on the same breaker so we can't even have the TV, space heater, PC, and washing machine going at the same time otherwise we trip the breaker.) My PC is a prebuilt Dell Inspiron 660. Intel Core i5 (3rd Gen) 3330 / 3 GHz Windows 8.1 64-bit 1tb hdd 8 GB RAM (2x4GB) Dell Wireless 1506 802.11b/g/n card (2.5ghz) Intel Integrated Graphics My WiFi router is a Belkin AC 1200 DB Wi-Fi Dual-Band AC+ Gigabit Router (model: F9K1113) P.S. Sorry if I rambled or did something wrong. This is my first time here and I'm very irritated with this whole issue. I checked around the forum for the same issue and none are the same.

So I have issues with my connection with a few games while many people in the house are connected, LoL is the worst. They're usually spikes in lag or DC's completely. Sometimes even when no one at all is using the net, any way I can find out if my router or even my modem is the problem? I have a "Belkin n450 db wireless n router" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833314074 My ISP is fine with Charter I'll leave a speedtest to show my up and down load speeds

I start to browse the internet, but after running it for a few minutes i start to be unable to connect to any other site, and then after a refresh of the page i am connected to I am unable to reconnect, and if the site uses alot like youtube it starts to not load any more, and i have to reboot the modem to be able to connect, it is just my pc with this problem, not anyother device, and when it happens it is just my pc connected to the network, or the others are not using the internet, i tried reinstalling browsers, i tried clearing everything from the browser (cache, site date, ect.) i even tried Internet explorer, all with the same result. I dont want to have to reinstall everything again, but should it be required then i shall. (anyone thinking of saying deleate system 32 grow up). Lastly even if i cannot connect to the internet, i still can connect to the network and the modem says everything is still all right, and all this happens regardless of wired or wireless connection. Please help.

Hello LTT forum members. This is the tale of my adventures into the world of windows 8 (more specifically windows 8,1) (rant) So as some of you may know i dabbled with windows 8 previously with less than desired results. (at release) And more recently i made a thread about how pleasantly surprised i was when my connection speed was alot better in windows 8. (after i switched again) Well.. Yesterday i thought "Windows 8 is fan effin' tastic. Time to try out windows 8.1 since surely there will be even more improvements!" The update was surprisingly quick and painless. And all the drivers were updated to their latest versions... this is something i found out when i tried to update them.. This is where my problems began. Soon after i upgraded to windows 8,1 i noticed that my internet speed was at about 10% of the previous speed... and steam couldn't connect to the servers.. Imagine my frustration as i went through every imaginable step to fix this issue.. I just wanted to play my brand spankin' new copy of hitman absolution I reset my modem, tried to update my drivers, Re-installed the drivers, re-installed steam multiple times, And tried all the old tricks to get steam to work. But my efforts were futile.. it was hopeless.. and in my most desperate hour i slapped the windows 8 install disc into my optical drive.. Hoping for it to fix something atleast. But i was betrayed! The version of the OS i called home (windows 8) had been corrupted by the evil of windows 8.1 I tried the same things i tried before but with no success. Knowing that all was lost i then turned to an old friend. A trusted partner called windows 7 Windows 8 however.. would not surrender so easily... Some files had become corrupted and almost defeated the mighty seven! But the older, more wise version of this OS just tried again! And purged the evil from my system! And now here i sit. Pretty about 8 hours after the start of this ordeal. And it will be a long while until i trust microsoft again. Which i probably never will.. with steam OS somewhere around the bend. Just thought i'd share this experience with you... since i needed some reason to type alot on my new keyboard... Cherry MX reds are quite pleasant to type on

Hi all, so i thought id tell you all a story about one of my friend who has one of the worst internet connections known to man. So he had internet issues for a very very very long time until he finally decided to get a new router and switch to the so called "super fast fibre optic broadband" from sky, which in our area is not true, because it is only fiber to the green box, and then copper cable to the premesis. Now, before he got his new router and upgraded to the so called "super fast fiber optic broadband", he had an average speed of around 1.2mbps, which is completely awful compared to the max i can get which is 33.3mbps and i only live up the road from him. But since he got his new router his speeds now average 1.9mbps even though sky advertise a 30mbps download speed. I have tried to help him but he can be very incompitent and it can be very difficult to explain things to him. The more pressing issue is that he cannot play any online mode in fifa without having to have more than 300ms, which is atrocious. I have given my own ideas as to what could be the issue, as Sky did not seem to report on any connection issues. Im not to sure if he has his house connected to the internet via telephone line or through cable underground. Also networking is not my strongest point, however i can follow on with what people say and understand. If anyone could comment with any usefull tips or any ideas as to what might be the issue it would be great. Thank you to anyone that can help
