Budget (including currency): $2500+ if it's truly worth it Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Conference room: Looking for camera/speakers along with the ability to connect and mirror to a TV. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): We have a 25' conference room with a long table. Our TV is placed at one end of the table on the wall. We tried the Logitech Rally, but that ended up being a very poor experiencing even after claiming the warranty on the system. The mics, speakers, and camera were pretty great though. We're currently using the Owl, but that still requires software, a dock, and mess of wires on the table depending on the laptop ports. So far we have far less issues with people getting connected to the camera and outputting to the TV (like we did with the Rally). Any recommendations for a really solid conference setup that is relatively clean and just works? We have a combination of Mac and Windows. Thanks in advance.

Hey Guys :) (hope this is the right topic - section) My issue is this, I'm helping a friend who is a hoppy cinema / video producer and he's setup a very small little stream room with 2 cameras and OBS to mix the sources and switch to one or the other as they do a small time conference with a few friends and interested parties via zoom (about 15 people watching in the call). Unfortunately they have adsl, and even with some pretty heavy degradation of the quality there's lag/speed issues (of course). WHAT i really would like to do is setup a "pre-recorded" high quality video, have them place it unlisted on ytube or something and while in the conference call "play it" for the audience (ither by screen share or something) and be able to "pause it" at times and "talk about it" with the people in the call, so that the video is smooth and high quality but they can still talk and view it together). I can't figure out a way to "control" the outside video so the "director" can pause it without doing some sort of screenshare that would destroy the quality, due to the very slow adsl speed (870k upload speed). other then just "giving out the link" and asking people to view it in a browser and asking them to pause it (very janky) is there a "smart" way to do this ? help and ty for all suggestions.

Does anybody have any idea of what is to come of the WWDC 2017 this year for Apple? I was thinking of iOS 11?

At work I was tasked with setting up video conferences - we were thinking (as a small firm) google hangouts or Skype for business. I wanted to know your guys' take on how a set up like this should go. I got a decent web cam, and everything will be run into a mac mini. I was thinking the TV speakers would be good enough with 2 microphones on the table that will be connected via USB to an external sound card. (slightly worried about the echo). Thoughts?

Hello i have recieved a task to setup 2 tv-s to a single big room which on its own is not a big problem... easy to do... but the trick begins at when i have to mirror them, meaning connect a single device to the tv and the other tv has to also show the picture, and from an endpoint users point of view it has to be as easy as it can get... so here i am just listening to the ground to dig up some additional info of whcih im not avare of....

Hey guys! What are your experience with big screen monitors for entertainment and gaming purposes? Wanting a big screen for movies and couch gaming for PC I came across the Dell c5517h (around 800€) for example. Marketed as a monitor for mostly conference-room settings it has pretty decent stats comparing it to normal TV´s (only the 1080 version the 4k monitors are way to expensive starting at 2700€) I'll attach the pdf with all the stats. What do you all think of such monitors, because it seems pretty reasonable to me to rather buy this than the waaay over priced gaming focused soulutions. DCF00FF2-5C7D-40F8-A9E4-D774E8315204.pdf

Hi, I am trying to host team video conferencing on Discord. We have had many drops and glitches. The rest of the team wants to move to Zoom and just pay for it. I would like to avoid that but having trouble finding something cheaper. Discord/Slack have the per person payments and this is just a First Lego League team. We wouldn't want to pay that much for everyone. If anyone has experience with Server Boosting performance. I would like to know have you had any issues after boosting to lvl1? Did you have problems on the free version? We have people on laptops, tablets, mobiles. One of the memers that wants to switch to Zoom is because they did not have the issues of quality and droping out as well as sound echo if not using headset on Zoom. I am leaning towards Hangouts as well. But I am not sure if there is screen sharing and if it would be easy for a team.

Like the title said: I need an video conferece app (free if possible) to do series of video conferences (interviews) and record it on the hard drive of the interviewer. The hard part: Each participant video feed/stream must be saved on a separate files. This is for later video editing. For example, if it's a 1 on 1 conference, it should save 2 (or more) files: One for the interviewer and one for the interviewee. Audio files can be separatly or not. I dont mind meanwhile they are the proper audio streams of each video. MP4 Compression would be nice, but not mandatory. I already have tried Zoom but it does one single file of all the conference. Any recommendations or solutions? Thanks!

I figured I would post another press conference, EA is up next. I know what to expect from some on this forum (the shitposting is going to be amazing, no doubt) but if we could perhaps keep things on topic and discuss the games. Mirrors Edge, Mass Effect, Battlefront, hell who knows what other franchise EA could bring back this year. It is certainly one of the more interesting conferences for E3. The show starts at 2PM, so lets buckle up for what should be a good one. I will be updating it as it goes along. Because its fun, and cohesive threads > random nonsense. Mass Effect Mass Effect: Andromeda will come out Holiday 2016 Source: http://kotaku.com/electronic-arts-showed-the-new-mass-effect-off-it-s-ca-1711474765 Need for Speed This game has 5 overlapping stories, tons of customization. Khronos Group released a PDF version of a presentation, via the tweet of the EA presenter, supposedly scheduled for the 15th of this month. The above is the basic post, you can go to the source if you want but I'll include brief summaries of the topics covered by the six speakers for those who don't care to look through the lengthy PDF. The presentation starts off fairly tame, they just clarify what Vulkan is, how it came to be, what other projects contributed to it, etc. This part is led by somebody from EA. (all names in presentation) They hand it off to the next speaker from Valve. He details the benefits of Vulkan, as well as the extra work that these benefit will require on the developer side. He introduces how scheduling will work in Vulkan. And he finishes off with announcing that Valve's Intel/Linux driver will be open sourced, and that Source 2 supports the Vulkan Alpha as of this day (not known whether it means the 15th or now. There's also an empty slide titled "Demo" without anything on it, hopefully somebody will write about it when the presentation takes place. He then passes the torch to the next speaker from Oxide Games. He talks mostly about how CPU and GPU utilization is improved and then has a screenshot demonstrating these improvements by implementing the ideas into a mantle build. The first slide is marked inspirational video but again is empty. He mentions how CPU improvements are coming not from better single threaded performance but higher core count and says that because of this software must scale well in multi-core cpus. He finishes by detailing how the Vulkan API will fix lack of cpu usage in vs how current APIs handle it- rather than having no usage it'll assign other jobs to it-. The next speaker was from Unreal (Engine). He talked mainly about what the code will look like and what kinds of commands will be at your (a developers) disposal. The speaker that followed was from Unity and talked about Vulkan's shader library, SPIR-V, and general compiling. A different speaker from Valve comes on stage and talks about the different layers of the Vulkan API, with the first and last layers, the application and the drive, being required and the the inclusion of the middle layers being up to the developers.

Personal Opinions Here it apparently is, in all its metal framed glory. Not much else to say, really. The leaks were bang on before, but this phone seems to lack a noticeable curve (maybe its just a dummy unit that isn't as well detailed?) It has a camera hump, which I think is entirely stupid. It was stupid when Apple did it, its stupid that HTC did it, its stupid that Samsung did it. Stop with the bumps! Push out the battery and fill in that extra few mm or something. They've announced Samsung Pay and the whole presentation, IMHO, is very good but we all know who they took their inspiration from (in more than just the presentation). I'm not sold, and their insistence on copying Apple down to the damn presentation and brand naming is...a tad insecure. It comes in some new interesting colours like Green, Blue and Gold (see the MWC content section for photos on that). The glass has a 800 degree bend on both sides, with glass on both sides. Oh shots fired against Apple for this one (but didn't their phones bend in that test too?) They claim that it won't lag or stutter anymore, which would be pretty nice if they actually follow through on this. The phone can charge to 4-hours of use in 10 minutes, and it charges twice as fast as the iPhone 6. BUT, this is detrimental toward batteries. Pushing that much juice through anything...dicey. Very dicey. I even hesitate to use the fast charging on my 6+ Samsung thinks its okay to not have a replaceable battery because their built in one charges so fast. THATS NEVER BEEN THE ISSUE. You idiots, are you going to have service centres all over the place now too for same day battery replacement? Cause thats how Apple can get away with it. I can go to a store, wait 10 minutes, have a new battery in. You? No, I need to go to carrier or send it to your service centre which I know doesn't exist in my city. FFS. What a fail. Samsung Pay will show up in the US and Korea in the Summer, once again making the same mistake that Apple did: focussing on the wrong areas to spread the name. But c'est la vie. They've got AMEX, BoA and Chase as partners so far. NFC and MST tech. Most likely done editing as all content has been revealed barring any further huge announcements by Samsung this week, which seem doubtful. But you never know.

Hey guys so some of you may recognize me as the guy who posted the video covering the AMD GPU '14 event last month. It turned out that video was VERY well recieved (thanks in no small part to the patrons of the Linus Tech Tips forums) so I decided to make another one covering the Nvidia event on late last week. It took me a good bit longer to be able to get this video out on account of the Nvidia Press Conference being spread out over several days as well as the stream content being harder to get ahold of (also I just had shit to do). But I finally finished it and am linking it all here for all of you to hopefully enjoy. I hope that y'all find it informative and would love to hear what you guys thought of what Nvidia had to offer down below or in the comments of the video itself. Anyway, thanks for all of the support and I look forward to hearing what you all have to say Cheers, Julian (jmasta111) Here is a link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru1HdZeyrPY Also here is the older video for the AMD GPU '14 presentation in case you missed that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdYOJLye3EQ

I wanted to make this thread so that anyone who missed the conferences so far can just swift throught this and be up to date on the biggest and baddest happenings of E3 2014. Last night I watched Microsoft, EA and Ubisoft's conferences and it just got better and better. And this morning I got even more great news. So let's get to it, what I thought were the best in the conferences. Let's start with the obvious winner, Grand Theft Auto V coming to PC! (and next gen, but who cares about that?) So next up I've got to put the new Batman - Arkham Knight gameplay. It looks amazing, the lighting effects are great and I've got to say, I didn't have a lot of faith in the Batmobile, but they convinced me. Let's get this out of the way, probably the only good thing to come out of the Microsoft conference is the Witcher 3 gameplay. But boy did it worth the wait. Check it out! So these are the big winners for me, something before I roll onto Ubisoft's conference: Mortal Kombat X. New fighters, new moves, from the looks of it it's pretty good imo. So now, to keep the post a bit more concised all the Ubisoft announcements are going to be behind this spoiler.
