I am looking to get my own 3d printer, as the university I am studying at seem to not let students outside of the Design Faculty (I'm in SciTech) use there FFF and Resin printers in free time. I am looking at getting something from FlashForge or TierTime as I am already familiar with their printers and have used them in the past. However as a student, I live in the student subsidised accomidation situated in the area of the campus, and as such, things are bound to their building. In this instance, the fire alarms are notoriously painful because of the alert going to the Fire Department, and will lead to a fine to the tune of ~$1463 for a false alarm, if the firefighters and building management declare it as that. My conern is that will an enclosed printer, using a varity of materials (mainly ABS, PLA, and the occasional PVA), set off fumes from the filament, printer, etc. set off the fire alarm, as I would lose a lot of money, the worth of the printer in the fine if it goes off and I can't shut it off. And if the fumes set off the alarm every time I use the printer, then it will never get used or I go bankrupt. As a side note, any Aussies out there, do you know of where the best place is to buy 3d printers and consumables, other then JayCar, they have some but not a wide range. Cheers...

ok soo question for anyone whos done overclocking here before, i am trying to overclok my 750ti using mis afterburner but then i noticed something strange, i followed the instructions, slide the clocks and the power and it was working fine but after like the 3rd test i did, things got wierd, in furmark i got even lower fps before i did the overclock also the temps always stay at around 30 no matter the load, also the power draw dosent change much. Please help

So i have decided to make a little thread where I share my findings, and you can comment. It is informative, i decided because there is not much ( or at all ) debate about hearing safety, some people dont know, some people dont care. And some people would ignore it even if you told them. Please dont. Disclamer: I am not audio professional. Nor did I dug deep, read scientific papers or made my own tests. I just care and my own user experience that lead me to it and now i am spreading the info to you so you can research. Or just throw the info out of the window... its up to you. What we know for sure for better hearing safety: - Lower volume is always better, as low as possible for you to hear - Passive isolation of headphones blocks outside noise so you dont need to raise volume - Its good to quiet down computer / environment, so you dont need to raise volume as well. Listening to your music on the busy street, train, loud environment is a bad idea. - Time spent on high volume has to be decreased Even if you just follow those points, you made a favor to your ears and you can continue life as usual. But there is more. First point are In Ear Monitors. People recommend them and say they are safe because they seal well and you can play them at very low volume. Thus reducing pressure / decibels. Just because of that seal, in ear canal it creates pressure. It can create pneumatic pressure that can reach dangerous levels, compared to sounds rated 120db. Safe levels are considered lower than 85db for 8 hours. The ear drum also moves in and out because of the seal. There are efforts made by professionals to remove this effect either by opening the seal so no pressure can occur ( or is lessened) or making a separate "bubble" that "takes the blow". But solutions arent cheap and not well known either. People care more about sound and price theese days.

Hello! I know almost nothing about water cooling, and I really want to know what there is to worry about I've seen a YouTuber (JaysTwoCents) talk about algae build-ups and conducting liquids and stuff, and I know nothing about this. Also, what is a custom loop and what is a sealed loop? Is the sealed loop un-openable? Do I have to replace the liquids in a sealed loop? Thanks for reading, and please reply if you know what it means to have a sealed loop, and what I should take into account before water cooling my PC. Thanks! -Jordan

Hello, I am a bit confused on how RAID works. I know the basics such as what RAID 0 and 1 do and I want to setup a system that has 4 3TB HDDs arranged in RAID 1 twice for 6 TB of storage (with a single SSD boot drive as well). Can you have RAID in a system multiple times? Also, I will use an x99 motherboard and don't know if I can just use the motherboard to configure RAID or if I need a separate RAID controller (which I have a slot for). Also, how would I set this up? Thanks!

I know that these CLC's come with non-conductive fluid but over time the fluid will become conductive due to picking up traces of metal and such what do I do when the fluid becomes conductive? Is this not a concern?

Hey everyone, I'm putting my rig together at the moment and I'm quite happy with my component choice except for the power supply, I ordered a CX 750m because it was popular and it's a good price. I haven't started the build yet (waiting for a couple more parts) and I've been reading a lot about how unreliable the CX range is. Youtube is full of videos about coil whine and other noises that it makes. I have noticed however that these videos and most of the negative reviews are a bit older, maybe Corsair have made some improvements since then? What are your experiences with this PS? If I'm willing to wait for another couple of weeks, I have the option of sending it back and paying the difference to upgrade to a EVGA Supernova 750 G2. Really not sure what to do. After researching for what graphics card to buy, i now think that i want to buy the gtx 770 lightning. but turns out that its out of stock EVERYWHERE. so i decided to bump it up to the GTX 780 lightning. but i have some concerns 1. Some reviewer said that this graphics card uses Elpida memory chips which is said that it's bad for OC? is it true or should i just not care about it? 2. Also they said that the middle yellow fan doesn't seem to help alot... really? 3. Each three fans is controlled seperately by software, is it required for the card to run? also there's reviewer stated that the software is buggy (especially for the middle fan?) :unsure: 4. Can i configure the glowing LED Lightning logo on the side of the card? If so How? is it by the geforce experience LED visualizer? and last noobest question, Can i just use this card the same way as my 660 ti? Because all of its features makes me too lazy to deal around with it. *note: i made some text bold for more easier reading experience.*

Hey guys, I'm ordering the H440 soon to update my build, I currently have two Asus GTX 660Ti's in SLI configuration, I've been looking at some benchmarks and it seems to perform pretty poorly when it comes to GPU cooling. Just wondering if I'll be alright or have to modify the case in some way to allow for more airflow. I don't really want to upgrade my GPU's or get a water cooling loop for them.
