I use blender and unity/ unreal for fun game design. Plus programming student. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Fps does matter if im getting 144hz im happy but it doesnt look like we are at 4k 144 hz yet. so should i go up to 4k or go up to 1440 i have a 1080 rright now. the monitors im looking at. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-ultragear-27-ips-led-qhd-freesync-and-g-sync-compatable-monitor-with-hdr-black/6401809.p?skuId=6401809 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-xg270hu-27-led-qhd-freesync-g-sync-monitor-black-orange/4434101.p?skuId=4434101 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-s2719dgf-27-led-qhd-freesync-monitor-black/6293714.p?skuId=6293714 For monitors im really looking for good response time but im also looking for something that looks great. Wtf is this? Ik people gonna bombblast me for a never seen before psu but it serve me well for 2 years but what's thiss? It looks powerdery white stuff and I am sure that's not just dust.... Is this why it causes this particular psu not to be able to fully power my gtx 1070?it is a 600w 80+ bronze certification as it will literally power off when trying to play game on it.

I'm running through building the loop in my system and I am a very visual person. So I began looking for a CAD program that specializes in the design of custom built computers. It would ideally have a built in catalog of parts/components. Obviously it wouldn't be able to contain ALL of the little niche companies and pieces but those could be added by the user if the desired. If it was designed correctly it would greatly help in custom builds, water cooling loops, case mods, etc. I understand that there is the PC Building game but obviously I'm talking about something that is more professional and precise. If this exists then please someone let me know so I don't begin working on something that will be a tremendous waste of time.

Hey so to start this off I would like to make a disclosure that I am really not good with building pc's and this is my first time doing so, that being said I would appreciate responses on how I could improve or swap around parts to ensure a proper build. I will be using this pc mostly for gaming and my budget is 1000-1200$ CAD Here are my parts: CPU: Intel Core i5 9400F https://www.mikescomputershop.com/product/9890739 Memory: Team T Force Vulcan 16 Gb 288 Pins DDR4 3000 https://www.newegg.ca/team-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820313777 Motherboard: ASRock B365M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1151 https://www.vuugo.com/asrock-motherboards-B365M-Pro4.html?tracking=5108053939762 Storage: Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0781Z7Y3S/?tag=pcp0f-20 Video/Graphics Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB GAMING Video Card https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_559&item_id=136161 Power Supply: SeaSonic EVO Edition 620 W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00HHH8AA6/?tag=pcp0f-20 Case: DIYPC DIY-Model X-W-RGB White Steel / Tempered Glass ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with 2 x RGB LED Ring Fans https://www.newegg.ca/p/N82E16811353145 Total Cost: About 872.61$ CAD (Sales Influence The Price At The Time Of Calculation) I would be willing to change around these parts significantly if not open to completely other build ideas as long as they are within my price range. Again I am really unfamiliar with computer building and any input would help a lot.

Hello everyone, I'm building myself a new PC where I'm going all-in. And I saw on forums that few guys had problems fitting Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero into Corsair Obsidian 500D SE and I'm afraid that Maximus XI Extreme wouldn't fit also. Does anybody know does Maximus XI Extreme fit into Corsair Obsidian 500D SE? Thank you. :D

Hello! I am on a seriously tight budget, but I pretty much need a new PC. And I know pretty much nothing about computers. -It must be able to do video and sound editing, hopefully some computer modeling. -I would like it to be able to play a game like Skyrim, Legendary Edition, on Ultra graphics. And pretty much any other game I throw at it (On any graphics setting) for at least a few years now. Overall, I want a computer that will last me well into the future with minimal upgrading or maintenance, even if I won't be able to do everything at it's best. I have about $700 on hand right now, and want the computer ASAP, but if I could get a considerable performance boost by spending even several hundred more, I'd rather go with that and wait. Edit: At the same time, if I could get a PC that was just capable of editing and still able to play a few games for ~$300, that would be fantastic for a short-term solution!

So in biology, we are working on a plant and animal cell comparison project. We have to find something that is similar to a cell and compare the parts. For my project, I chose a computer. For the first 10 or so organelles I was doing alright, but after that I ran into some trouble. The Completed comparisons so far: -Vacuole= Hard drive -Cell wall= Computer case -Cell membrane= Firewall -Nuclear envelope= CPU Socket -Chloroplasts= Power Supply -Cytoplasm= motherboard -mitochondria= resistors -Endoplasmic reticulum: motherboard circuits Not quite sure on: -Ribosomes= data/signals from cpu -Nucleolus= CPU cores Still need to find a function: -transport proteins -chromatin -golgi apparatus -cytoskeleton (microtubulars or microfilaments) -cilia or flagella *I'm not sure if this would be the right subreddit but I really need help on this.

So I have just noticed more of the 6000 series processors being released my intel I was wondering to trade the i5 4690k I was going to put in my new pc build for a 6000 series processor. They all are extremely close prices (in the uk) all coming in at around £160 with only the k version of the 6600 going up substantially. But are they worth buying or should I stick with a 4690k. Im not really interested in overclocking and I've seen lots of additional frames when using the 6000 series cpus. So should I get a new 6000 series processor and if so which one? Prices: i5 6400 : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Processor-Skylake-5-6400-Turbo/dp/B010T6CG7E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446742695&sr=8-1&keywords=i5+6400 i5 6500 : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Skylake-Processor-i5-6500-Turbo/dp/B010T6CWI2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446742701&sr=8-1&keywords=i5+6500 i5 6600 : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Skylake-Processor-i5-6500-Turbo/dp/B010T6CWI2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1446742704&sr=8-2&keywords=i5+6600

Hello, I'm currently finally building a computer (I don't know what took me so long) after using a mac. My budget is $200 for a GPU and $100 for any other components (ie CPU, PSU, RAM). I have a list of the components I plan to buy but I want people who know what they're talking about to look it over and tell me what I can get to have the max performance with my tight budget. I already own a basic desktop motherboard, a Rocketfish 600W peak (500W continuous) PSU and 8GB of RAM. -Monitor: Acer 21.5-inch Full HD $99.99 -Chassis: Sentey GS-6011 $64.99 -GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7970 OC $190.00 -CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 940 $79.95 -Hard drive: Seagate 3TB HDD Sata 6GB/s $89.99 -keyboard/mouse: HAVIT Lammergeir and E-blue Mazer II 2500 DPI Wireless gaming Mouse $83 OPTIONAL -RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (8GBx2) DDR3 $77.99 -Kingston 120GB SSD (dedicated for steam) &47.99 -AM3+ AMD 970 SATA Motherboard (I already have a basic desktop one and I dont care for overclocking) $64.99 What can I improve on?

Budget & Location: £1,500/United Kingdom Aim: Web surfing, Playing latest games e.g (GTA 5, Sims 4, etc.) also not planning to overclock as I don't have any clues about it. Monitors: Going to start with 1 Monitor but I might end up with 3. Peripherals: Keyboard and mouse not included in the budget (Only the Monitors) Why am I upgrading: Because it's a 32 Bit and demanding games are on 64 bit "sigh" Anyway Hi guys, I'm new here and it's my first time building, I started saving up for my new pc. I also took a screen print of the build, I would like all of you to recommend me better things or things that don't go together, example is that GPU going to be bottle necked by the CPU or will the stock fan be sufficient, is the RAM compatible etc. Thanks

EDIT: At bottom of post Ok for starters the computer will be used for gaming mainly but also some HD video editing along with a general school stuff. So it needs to be a well rounded computer with that being said i still have a few parts missing, problem is i dont know what i need/ want. So below is the list of parts i have so far. I live in Canada. ill try and give an explanation as to why i picked each part so you guys can try and better help me if i dont need to go that big on a part or need a better one. CPU: $610 http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=64992&vpn=BX80619I73930K&manufacture=Intel&promoid=1307 Or CPU: $350 http://ncix.com/products/?sku=81325&vpn=BX80646I74770K&manufacture=Intel&promoid=1307 Learning for the cheaper i7 because i dont think i need the extra 2 cores. RAM: $140 http://ncix.com/products/?sku=66354&vpn=CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10&manufacture=Corsair&promoid=1307 this ram because everyone seems to like it has good reviews and 16gb for video editing/gameing (i dont i dont need 16gb for only gaming) HDD: $100 http://ncix.com/products/?sku=66010&vpn=ST2000DM001&manufacture=Seagate&promoid=1307 lots of storage. SSD: $100 http://ncix.ca/products/?sku=75142&vpn=SDSSDP-128G-G25&manufacture=SANDISK boot drive along with other highly used programs. Cooling: $130 http://ncix.com/products/?sku=71090&vpn=CLW0217&manufacture=Thermaltake looks because i hate the looks of the fans. Had good reviews. Now if i get the cheaper CPU i coud over clock it a tad. (never overclocked before) PSU: $230 http://ncix.com/products/?sku=77638&vpn=CP-9020037-NA&manufacture=Corsair Good reviews. Good quality. and modular GPU: $700 http://ncix.com/products/?sku=84058&vpn=03G-P4-2784-KR&manufacture=eVGA For gaming got the best one i could that i though would not overdo what the other parts in my system are. DVD: $20 http://ncix.com/products/?sku=82953&promoid=1307 Movies, games ext. Case:$120 http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=75045&vpn=FD-CA-DEF-R4-BL-W&manufacture=Fractal%20Design&promoid=1307 might get this one so far looks nice to me. Thats all i have so far. The things i dont have i dont know what i need or what would be best for me. What i know i still need is: -Motherboard -2 monitors -keyboard -maybe a mouse i one that works but i should probably drop a bit and get a newer one if im going to get all this. Also planing to add LED's to the case and get some different fans. (all blue) As far as running 2 monitors i want to just use one for the game im playing then the other to have skype or chrome ext open. I have no idea if the CPU i picked will be able to do that and still output a good quality. Looking to spend about 2500 retail. Im planing to hold off till boxing day when buy everything and try and save some money. Even if its only a few hundred bucks that could go to games or something else. Total of what i have so far with the cheaper CPU is about $1900 CAN. That's all i can remember so if you need any other info please just ask and ill do my best to answer. Current computer keeps randomly shutting off so im wanting to finalize my plans now so i know what i need to save up for (work full time no problems their) and so im not stuck without a plan if a sale or something else does come up. Thanks much in advance. Did the pcpartpicker here is link: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1ILuN still need: -Motherboard -Monitors -keyboard -maybe a mouse? Please let me know what you guys think of it so far.
