So I've been looking around for an HDD or two of 2-3 TB capacity. Just regular 3.5 ones, for local storage of media. Amazon should most of them as having 4+ stars - but there are a lot of complaints on every single one I've looked at. Can anyone show me a success story of a model or line of HDDs I can get and not have crippling doubts about? Important to note that I would gladly return if it was broken or defective - but I'll be receiving it via a reshipping service so i'll get it ~1-2 weeks after it effectively arrives - and returning it from here will cost me 30-40% of the original cost of the product That's why I'd like not to risk.

Something like LTT complaints channel. A channel about bad products and complaints. Does not have to cover all problems but something that affects most people. Like the horrendous playback of hdr content on samsung phones. Seriously, they advertise their phones as hdr and they don't fix it. Reaching out to companies about their products is really hard. You send an email/message then they reply with "thank you for reaching out to us. We have sent this to our developers." And then never hear from then again. Even after a year, the problem is still there. YouTube tech channels have huge following and there will be a huge chance companies will listen to them.

Hello LTT Forum, I don't usually post here, and I don't use very often the forum, but I consider myself a fan of LMG, and since I've seen the fussing about "Nerd Sports", I wanted to wite this to LInus, but then I figured out that probably the forum is a good place to hear also your opinions, and maybe get noticed by Senpai Linus so that he actually reads it. Hi Linus, I've read your response to the post about Nerd Sports and I thought it might be the right time to write this. I saw that you did not only addressed the "Nerd Sports" problem, but also the raising of complaints by viewers on the quality of recent content and therefore I decide to write you this. I apologize in advance if it ends up being a long post. I'm a long-time fan of yours, and of all LMG, and I follow you since garage WAN show days. I have to admit that LTT/TQ/CSF became part of my daily routine, and that I watch your videos unconditionally both on Vessel and YouTube each day, so that I can give you all the more money I can (yes I know, forum subscriptions, t-shirts and stuff, but since I go to university and I don't work I don't have much money) and I stay up until 3-3.30 in the morning to watch the WAN show on twitch (I live in Italy). I'm not saying this to boast, I'm not saying I'm the most hardcore fan, it's just so you know with which part of the audience I fit in, since it's broad. Now that I have expressed my love towards LMG, it is time to talk about what has been going on lately, but first let me say, apologies accepted for the rushing, everyone has busy periods, and let me specify that the purpose of this post is to give future advices, if accepted. In the last month or so, I noticed a different approach of the company to the videos. I love the workshop format, I think it's really interesting, but other videos feels like “filler” videos, which is normal to have since you committed to one release per day, but I feel like they are more frequent than in the past. Obviously, with more time consuming content to produce, and the inability (yet) to expand a day to more than 24h, sometimes you have to cut down on some other videos. Probably my considerations are a little bit too naïve for the internet, but I feel like that most of the complaints under your videos are written because the fan loves your content, and he is afraid that it is becoming more and more “casual”, and let me explain what I mean by that. By no stretch of the imagination 7 gamers 1 tower and projects like that are “casual”, by “casual” I mean videos for casual views, and not the hardcore fans that truly loves tech, and loves even more how you bring tech to YouTube. The fact is that for many LMG fans, or at least for me, is that a Linus Tech Tips video is not only about a product, or about bleeding edge technology, it is also about Linus Media Group, the people that produces the content, with which we have an appointment every day. As I said these words are really naïve, but I think that there is truth at the bottom. People watch you because they like your personalities, otherwise, you wouldn’t have 6-10k people watching you live every week. They could just search tech news on the internet if they were strictly interested in that. After so many touching words, which by the way are referred to all of LMG, not only to Linus or video hosts, here comes my advice: stick to your fans, because they will stick to you. It might seem a sentimental advice, and maybe it is, but even economically speaking, having a lot of people watching one video per month is not like having a fanbase that watches all of your videos everyday for the way YouTube works (or at least for my basic understanding of it) Getting back to the Nerd Sports fact, I’ve really appreciated your response, because it means that you care about your fans. Not the Noctua ones. Well, maybe them too. Sorry for the long post, I hope you will read it at some point I also hope not to have made a lot of errors, since Italians are pretty bad at English. Hey LTT, So I just built a PC for a friend this afternoon in a Define R4. This was the first time that I've built in an R4, but the experience didn't honestly live up to the hyper for me. The lack of tool-less mounts everywhere kinda bothered me. Having to put in screws everywhere was boring and somewhat time consuming. The notched side panels that aren't hinged also were annoying to put on, despite the mounds of cable management room. Also, the window wasn't as clear as I expected. The acrylic was kinda hazy. In the end, I'm still a fan of the case, but not quite the fan I was going into the build. I'd really like to use an H440 and see what it has to offer in comparison. Opinions?

Why am i making this thread?: I am making this thread because of two reasons. Number one is of course because i am annoyed about the fact that there are basically 20 threads being made every hour only to complain About this. I am aware that making this thread is going to make about the same difference to that as the petition to remove g+ is going to make to youtube. But also because this debate is Dividing the forum into two camps.. Those who like it/don't care and those who don't like it. I've even seen some people on other forums become hostile because someone else has a different opinion than their own. I concidered making a video about this instead of a thread but i decided not to because of Three reasons. 1: I couldn't find the audio clips i wanted to use to make the video entertaining as well as (possibly) helpfull 2: If i posted the video on this forum it would probably be concidered self promotion. And that's against the code of conduct 3: It would've been a big "COME AT ME BRAH!" to people that hate the new comments and g+ merge...and trolls Which would've turned my channel into a "bridge" under which trolls would probably thrive Something i'd like to propose Before continuing is a temporary pinned thread where people can discuss G+ and youtube comments. With one thread it would be easier for the mods to keep an Eye on it. So there's an incentive to keep things civil. The problems i've seen people mention the most: 1: Being "forced" to use your real name. 2: Being "forced" to use Google+ 3: Having a hard time navigating/Reading comments and replies. Problem 1: Being forced to use your real name You are not forced to use your real name. Google wants you to use it. But you don't have to All you need to do is write your normal username in one of the boxes. Or split it into two halves. like "Tech Swede" There are also some other things like location and occupation which are optional. Problem 2: Being forced to use Google+ This one is a bit borderline i'll give you that. But once you've made it past the "what do you want as your new name" bit you barely need to look at it again. Problem 3: Having a hard time navigating/Reading comments and replies. Really?. This is the argument i have the most problems with. Is it really more difficult to navigate this new system? Before this we had the (show comment) button for replies. Was that really better? i mean really? Sure it was a bit more fun. It was like going on an adventure through those 20+ comments But when you got to the end and saw "comment removed" You were probably also a bit miffed right? With the new system you just press a handy new button. Illustraded below in a masterpiece of ms paint proffessionalism Click it. And magic happens (or rage depending on the actual comments) And if you have a Gmail account you get pretty much instant notifications when someone replies to your comment. Im sure i've missed something but if you add your complaint or solution to a different problem below and i'll add it to this list Google won't change this. They did this to create their youtube-Gmail-G+-Google eco system. And no amount of complaning or petitions are going to change their minds. They're only asking for the same amount of information that facebook already got from most of you without any objections. Sooo yeah.. add complaints,suggestions,solutions etc below. and let's just work together to get around this/live with it alright?
