  3. Hi i have a question that might be dumb. But i have the MSI MPG Velox 100R case. It says it supports 3 front 140mm fans but only a 360 front radiator. So if it can have 3 140 fans why can't it have a 420 rad? is this a dumb question? T~T the radiator im wanting is the arctic liquid freezer iii which is 458mm length and the MSI MPG Velox 100R case is 474x231x490mm in size
  4. Budget (including currency): Country: Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: High end games, and programming Other details I have been researching for a while to get some good quality parts, with best compatibility and lowest bottlenecks, and ended up with the following build: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: Intel Core i7-14700K 3.4 GHz 20-Core Processor ($389.99 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5 CPU Cooler ($79.90 @ Amazon) Thermal Compound: ARCTIC MX-6 4 g Thermal Paste ($6.15 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI PRO Z790-A MAX WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard ($256.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6800 CL34 Memory ($124.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($109.99 @ Adorama) Video Card: Gigabyte GAMING OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16 GB Video Card ($849.99 @ Best Buy) Case: Corsair iCUE 5000D RGB AIRFLOW ATX Mid Tower Case ($184.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: be quiet! Like would the PSU fit in that case? would the CPU Cooler fit with those RAM sticks on the motherboard, even if i brought 2 more? would all the parts fit in that case? do you recommend other CPU coolers, PSUs or cases? Please note that I already own the Alienware monitor, the 990 PRO and 870 EVO SSDs, the 2 G.Skill Trident RAM sticks, Arctic MX-6. thanks for your help and efforts EDIT: I ended up changing most of the stuff to this: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor ($349.00 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler ($35.90 @ Amazon) Motherboard: ASRock X670E Steel Legend ATX AM5 Motherboard ($309.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6800 CL34 Memory ($124.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($102.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: Gigabyte GAMING OC GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16 GB Video Card ($1372.90 @ Amazon) Case: Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower Case ($65.00 @ B&H) Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 TT Premium 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($119.99 @ Amazon) Total: $2480.76 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2024-02-25 11:18 EST-0500 Does anyone know if I would run into ram clearance issues when using the G.Skill trident Z5 RGB with the Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB? any suggestions? you think I'd run into problems with this build?
  5. I've checked that everything for my pc build is compatible that i know has to be compatible; my cpu, gpu, ssd, and ram is compatible my motherboard, my cpu cooler is the correct socket type, my case as well as my motherboard is atx, and my psu is more than enough for my parts and is atx. Is there anything else i should look out for in compatibility?
  6. I bought a hx1000i psu from Aorus and I had a X670E-E Motherboard from Asus, everything was fine until I tried to plug the 24 pin atx which doesn’t fit on the MB, I thought it was a standard, is there a chance that they’re not compatible? The cable is 24 pin in one side and 18+10 pin on the other, and my motherboard had the 24 pin atx. Can someone help me? And the tell me what I’m doing wrong or confirm if the cable is defective. Note: I ensured that I’m plugging in the right direction, checked if every shape of every pin match, and even tried to plug the 18+10 on the MB (which obviously doesn’t fit) in case I was plugging it backwards, I applied sufficient force btw.
  7. Budget: ~1000 euros Location: Europe, Latvia Monitor: Single 1080p, with an upgrade to a single 1440p monitor or two 1080p monitors in the future Used for: Gaming, digital art, some 3D work Did my best assembling a list of parts for this build. I am still fairly new to this, hope someone can let me know if there are any glaring issues. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU cooler: Deepcool AG400 Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 GAMING X V2 RAM: Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 SSD: Lexar NM790 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 GPU: MSI MECH 2X V1 Radeon RX 6750 XT 12 GB PSU: Cooler Master MWE Bronze V2 650 W 80+ Bronze Here is the pc part picker link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fRnnwg It contains warnings but those are related to clearance and the BIOS needing an update. Extra notes: Some of the parts chosen might seem weird- I picked those due to them seemingly having the best price to performance ratio based on where I live. I have not picked a case yet. I am on a pretty tight budget so I cannot add expensive parts, only possible alternatives have to be in a similar price range. If you do suggest alternatives, please also explain why.
  8. Budget (including currency): 400 Country: usa Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gta sa, oblivion, nfsu, etc. Games of that Era. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have had this acer aspire for over 15 years, it has a ht2000 motherboard, 512 mb of ram, and a single core athlon 3500+. I never use it anymore but it has sentimental value as it belonged to my grandfather originally. I recently had the idea to just dress it up in the best components of its own Era, just to play some old games on it. Whether it's good by today's standards is irrelevant, it's more of a pet project. The issue I want to address before I buy anything for it is compatibility for the motherboard, it is an am2 board, but being relatively new to computers in general really I'm just unsure of whether any am2 processor will do or not, nor am I particularly familiar with parts of that Era. Any input on the matter would be very much appreciated.
  9. Hello people that are more knowledgable than me, I have recently (yesterday) ordered parts for my very first PC build, and today I have realized that my RAM might not be compatible with my Motherboard. PCPartPicker said that there is no compatibility issues, yet the support page for my motherboard says that the memory I have picked is not compatible. For reference, I will be building with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600 on an MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi motherboard. Thanks
  10. This is mostly out of curiosity Let's say that I write some functionality in C++ and it works in Windows 11 just fine. 1. Does it mean that it will work in just about any machine as long as it's Windows 11? 2. Would it work on any Windows version? Like Windows 10 3. What if I developed it in Ubuntu 22, would it work in future and past Ubuntu versions? 4. Would it work on different Linux distros? I have seen a handful of different compilers for C++ , hence the question Tagging @wasab as I have seen him mention this language
  11. Hello! I bought a prebuilt pc from sharkgaming. With a ryzen 7800x3d cpu and a XFX Speedster QICK 319 Radeon™ RX 7800 XT 16GB. Ive already ordered the pc but im worried the 650W powersupply that came with the system isnt powerful enough to run my pc or/if my components could get damaged if i use it the powersupply is a SHARK GAMING BLOODPUMP 650W ATX 3.0 BRONZE ive added some images aswell of the specs of the powersupply if that would help out. the images have some words in danish, im not danish myself but couldnt find any other picture with the specs. Im sorry! should i try to look to replace it before i even boot the pc or should it be fine as it is????
  12. Budget (including currency): Around 3000$ at most Country: Switzerland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I plan on dual booting Arch Linux and Windows, where Arch is my main daily driver and windows a fallback for games and software that simply cannot be made functional with say proton or wine under Linux. Primarily plan on using it for running devtools like Intellij/compiling software from the AUR and gaming. Most recently been playing games like Minecraft (Both vanilla and heavily modded), Sea of Thieves, It takes two but want to leave the option open to be able to play most games at a solid 60 frames. Ideally I want to be able to spend a bunch of money now and be set for like a solid 8-10+ years with no major upgrades required. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tHhm34 I've made a rough parts list already which covers around what I want but am unsure about compatibility details like space inside the case itself and whether or not my picks for cooling, memory and motherboard especially make sense. I would really like to use the fractal north case and onboard wifi would be a nice convenience to have. For storage I'm looking into having two M2 SSDs, one for windows the other for linux and then just getting a larger hard drive to store miscellaneous files between both. Looking to possibly take advantage of black friday deals so I might end up making small adjustments if it makes sense but I'm more looking to get a list of general stuff together now for compatibility & what to expect. I'm upgrading from a build with an Intel i5-7500 and a Radeon RX 480 with 24gb of ram, so this will be quite the jump in specs
  13. I’m wondering if there are any common RAM comparability issues or general issues I should watch out for. I figured I’d ask if there are any general issues I should be concerned about. I’m new to PC building, so I apologize for my ignorance. (P.S. I’m semi familiar with the issues regarding static electricity and DDR compatibility, but I’ve got little information outside of those.)
  14. Greetings, I wanted to discuss a couple of things with you experts in this post and would like to have your opinions. 1. PSU and GPU Compatibility: I own a Corsair RM850e (2023 version, comes with a 12vhpwr cable) fully modular PSU which I have paired with my MSI RTX 3090 Suprim X. I have it plugged in and the system seems to work, I just wanted to understand something from the safety and stability point of view. The RM850e comes with only 4x points for CPU/PCIe (2 each) with 2x EPS cables (both of which are taken by my Z790-H Motherboard) and 1x 6+2 PCIe and 1x 6+2 with a pig-tail 6+2 connector, the 3090 however has 3x PCIe connector points. I have noticed some markers going online mentioning that it is best to not use a pig-tail connector on high power draw cards, and the 3090 is rated at 420w consumption. My question is, is the setup of this GPU with 2x dedicated and 1x pig-tail connections to the PSU safe enough to not catch fire? (I don't care much about getting every drop of performance out of it). If it is unsafe, what should be my steps forwards? Can I make this system work as it is? or do I need to undervolt the GPU? 2. DDR5 RAM Compatibility: I built the system up and did a Bench Test, which went well, however, during the BIOS update from v1202 to v1501 for the Asus ROG Strix Z790-H Gaming WiFi motherboard, the system did not post with the DRAM orange light solid. I flashed the other versions of the BIOS into the board, which sometimes worked, but not for long. I started troubleshooting and the system posted with 1 RAM stick removed from the 2. This lead me to a Reddit trail where the user mentioned that the RGB on the RAM stick was so much that it did not boot without the XMP enabled. So, upon trial of: removing one RAM stick > booting the PC > updating the BIOS > enabling the XMP > installing the other RAM stick, the system started working completely fine. The RAM here is G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32, 16x2, DDR5 6000. SPECS: Intel i7 14700k | Noctua NH-D15s | Asus Strix Z790-H Gaming WiFi | G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32 | MSI RTX 3090 Suprim X 24G | Adata XPG Gammix S70 Blade 1+2TB | Corsair RM850e 2023 | Corsair iCUE 4000X Hope to have your expert views and recommendations on the above topics! Thank you.
  15. Okay, so I'm new to this page, but I've been a tech enthusiast for many years. I know a base amount about how to build computers and how everything works. But one thing I admit is that I am not an expert, but I have big ideas. But anyways to my questions... I really want to build a new computer that fully supports ECC. I know it's one of those things that really doesn't matter to some, but I'm looking to go for a computer that is built to last, and also is going to have a simple RAID set-up, and an external firewall in addition to the one in the software. I am trying to do something well maybe is a bit insane. So please I ask ppl to be open minded. I need to know how I can modify a pc to run 2 separate raid set-ups that doesn't necessarily need to be able to function at the same time. See I'll be running 2 different operating systems, windows vista & the other is optional maybe windows 10 or 11. Most likely 10. I'll switch between hard drives in the bios with the bios set to run at start up. And I want a back up hard drive set up for each OS as the RAID. And, because I'll be running an older OS I want to add ECC support to help with any errors caused by outdated software, drivers, or whatever. I know I'll get a lot of responses about why in the sam hill I need this kind of set up, well, lets just say I'm married and my wife is quite attached to an old game her siblings used to play a long time ago. Anyways, moving on lol. Due to the older OS that's why I am also adding an additional firewall hardware on the network since it's likely Windows vista isn't updated with the latest protection anymore. As far performance in hardware I'm not necessarily looking for high end, but something in-between, not too hot but not sub-standard either. I did a little research already and I guess AMD still has boards that still enable ECC, and that most or maybe all intel ones don't anymore. My preference is at least 10 cores for the processor with a base clock of at least 3.2 GHz. And at least 64 GB of memory. I'll be using this pc for a lot of moderate and occasionally heavy processing operations, mostly on the windows 10 OS. So first things that come to my mind is does all the hardware need to be ECC compatible? I would assume so, like the CPU, motherboard, ram, and I wonder about if ECC would be necessary for the GPU?... probably not idk u tell me. I'll only be using a basic GPU not for gaming primarily, but more for a modest touch in capability, and streaming. What should I do to prepare to put together a rig like this? Any Adaptors? Drivers? Reformatting? Details beyond the normal standard knowledge of making a pc is what I'm looking for. Even if you don't have the complete list of answers if you at least know one piece of the puzzle it's appreciated. I know what I am looking for I just need some guidance on how I may implement my ideas here. I know how to build a basic computer, but just not with any of these additional crazy stuff lol. I'm open to anything that'll make this happen, even if it's out of the box thinking.
  16. Hi, thank you in advance. I'm currently attempting to put together a computer using a mix of old and new parts in order to save some money, but I'm struggling to figure out where I'm going wrong with motherboard and PSU compatibility. I've attempted two off the shelf PSUs, only to find neither work with this Asus P8Z77-V LK. So far as I'm aware, the motherboard uses EATX 12 volt for the CPU power, but all I'm finding is PSUs with ATX 12 volt? I'm not 100% sure I'm correct on that. I already had a lot of different PSU cables so I made the erroneous assumption that I'd be able to connect the two, only to find that they both have the exact same socket, but no cable has the same plug on both ends. With the current PSU, I can plug in only half of the CPU power connection into the socket on the motherboard, and with that half plugged in it will power on but not post. The parts I already have include... Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LK CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k Ivy Bridge RAM: 16GB (4x4GB) Corsair Vengeance HDD: WD 1.0 TB The parts I purchased include... CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition PSU: EVGA 850 BQ Case: NZXT H5 Flow Are modern PSUs just not compatible with motherboards like the Asus P8Z77-V LK? Am I correct about the CPU power, or am I missing something? Once again, thank you for any help.
  17. Are the receivers for a G903 Lightspeed compatible with the ones from G903 Lightspeed (Hero)? I bought a used replacement for very cheap price (no dongle, however), and want to pair my G903 Lightspeed to the receiver from my G903 Lightspeed (HERO). And even if I wanna keep both, should I worry about compatibility if I were to buy a receiver for it? P.S. my G903 (HERO) left click works properly again. For months, that button was acting up as I couldn't drag n' drop properly.
  18. 1st to set the background for this post, here's my current system (not at home, so some things are from memory): CPU: ryzen 3800x (arctic liquid freezer 2) RAM: 16GB (can't remember the clock, it's mid-tier) GPU: sapphire NITRO+ vega 56 (length: 310mm) PSU: Corsair RM650x Case: Fractal Meshify C The plan is to upgrade to the 7800 xt, but i have 2 very important questions regarding this upgrade: Do you think my PSU will hold up Dual fan or tripple fan GPU? The 2nd question is where i really want everyone's input. Tripple fan designs for this gen are 320mm+ long. My current card is 310mm long and as you can see just about fits in there. So i have 2 options: remove a case fan and go triple fan, or keep the fan and go dual fan. I'm losing a fan either way, i'm just not sure which matters more. The case fan will aid in case airflow (especially if it's not right up a GPU like until now) and could possibly improve temps for everything. 2 fan design is also probably more than adequate for the GPU (most i'd do overclocking wise is raise the power slider, maybe undervolt depending on how this gen handles all that). This will also push me further towards a negative pressure setup which i guess isn't ideal with the amount of dog and cat hair flying around our house. The tripple fan will cool GPU more. GPU goes brrrr. Wider selection (although i'm almost certainly going sapphire again). Looks cooler. But With it only getting like half a fan's worth of airflow, i wonder if the extra GPU fan even matters. Case upgrade in the near future is possible, and would probably remove any current negatives for this option. I'm leaning towards dual fan personally, but i'm obviously split enough to go and make a post here.
  19. Hello, this is my first post, so apologies if I do anything wrong. I have a PRIME B360M-A motherboard and I'm thinking about updating my GPU to an RTX 3060 Ti, but I'm a bit hesitant as the RTX 3060 is fairly new in comparison to when I got my motherboard (Late 2018). It has only PCIe 3.0 support, but I read that 3.0 vs. 4.0 performance difference isn't very significant? Essentially, I just want to be 100% sure that the graphics card will successfully install and operate how it's suppose to. Thanks for any help / replies!
  20. My motherboard Intel DQ77MK is an mATX board with the listed specs below: • 16x slot, 1x slot (Covered by 2-slot GPU), PCI slot & an x4 slot with a x16 cutout slot. • CPU: Xeon E3-1230 V2 • RAM: 32GB 1600MHz (4x8GB) • GPU: Zotac GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 I've currently made a light-medium gaming/server/media PC which I can then re-purpose its uses down the line into a decent server/media PC once I build a main gaming PC. I've bought a brand new sealed PCI Medion MD 5044 TV Tuner intended for Windows XP and below from eBay thinking that I could make use of the PCI slot on my motherboard but when I installed & hooked it all up, I turned on my PC and inserted the installation disc, the setup menu wouldn't load, which prevented me from installing some codecs or drivers or whatever it wanted to install. I checked the Windows update and luckily enough, Windows had found some drivers which I installed so it could be detected in Device Manager. Obviously I couldn't get the software from the CD's setup menu so I resorted to MediaPortal 1 & 2 to test and check if it would detect the TV Tuner & antenna but sadly it didn't and no 'scan for channels' button was seen. However, I tried downloading the software it came with manually by going into the folders as opposed to relying on the incompatible setup menu which i successfully installed 75% of the included software as well as the drivers (I think) but it still wouldn't load either in MediaPortal or with this Power VCR II software it came with. I lastly tried a Virtual machine on Windows XP but with no avail, however the setup menu worked and I installed everything, however it wouldn't get detected in Power VCR II or MediaPortal and I don't want to connect XP to the internet so my last resort has been to download sketchy third-party drivers hoping it might replace the 'old' ones but I haven't attempted that after I've scanned the third-party drivers and found some aggressive PUPs on there. I've been told Microsoft stopped support for PCI after Windows 8.1? Would anyone know what to do or how to even get this dying technology of a TV Tuner up and running? I'm thinking selling it whilst it was brand-new would've been worth more than spending time troubleshooting this.
  21. Developers will have games run on both the PC and Switch. My Pixel 7 Pro is more powerful than the Switch but does not get those same games! That makes me so freaking angry! Like I cannot contain it anymore! I am done with smartphones entirely! Developers won't port to them? Well then, no more upgrading to powerful phones! I am downgrading my Pixel 7 Pro to an HTC ONE X. It being 32-bit-only means that there is an actual technical reason as to why it cannot run those games. No more bashing my head against the wall waiting for developers to support Android officially. No more bashing my head against the wall waiting for Yuzu to better support Mali GPUs. I will just use an HTC ONE X for most normal smartphone stuff, with the very best I can expect out of it being Dreamcast games. One way I shown I was already giving up on Android devices was trying to find a used gaming laptop and a cellular module. Unfortunately, the cellular modules are too hard to find or are too expensive.
  22. Budget (including currency): $5000 Country: canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming and blender Other details does anybody know if the noctua NM-AMB15 cooling offset mounting bar works with the ryzen 9 7950x with the noctua HN-D15 cpu cooler on it and the CPU not being de-lidded (i only know about it because of linus's video called "Noctua's New Cooler Voids Your Warranty...." and he talked a bit about de-lidded CPU's)?
  23. Hello Guys, I recently upgraded my PC, I have slight confusion with the compatibility of my RAM sticks with the motherboard. Motherboard: GIGABYTE B650-DS3H RAM: GSKILL RIPJAWS 16x2GB CL36 Issues: 1. I bought it from a well-known local store, instead of sending me the dual channel kit he sent me single kit modules. 2. Following is the product id of my ram: F5-6000J636G16GX1-RS5K, can anyone help me if it is compatible with my motherboard? I checked the specifications, and everything looks fine to me, but the support list of RAM & motherboard do not sync. I'm a little worried, any help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  24. Does anyone know if the Corsair rm850x shift will fit in a Corsair 5000d airflow case? Asking cause the psu has the modular interface on the side not the back.
  25. BUILD DETAILS: Ryzen 7 7800x3D MSI mag B650 tomahawk wifi NH-D15 chromax.black Deepcool matrexx 55 mesh Corsair 750i EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 Black 10GB G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 2x16gb ddr5-6000 My problem is that my cooler is about 1-2mm too tall with the second fan on and im wondering if the motherboard flex form that 1-2mm would be too much or if it would be "safe"?
