I am building a new PC and I opted for an Asus B650 Proart Creator + Ryzen 7 7800X3D + 2x16 G.Skill Flare X5 DDDR5-6000 as main components. The board is however not recognizing the memory sticks. The Asus B650 lists the Flare X5s on the QVL list, however with a different latency value (The list has CL36, I accidentally bought CL32). Do latency values affect the compatability between RAM, board and CPU that much ? And does this mean I have to order the CL36 version now? Or is there a workaround?

Good Afternoon, I used to work somewhere before this, and someone had a website they used to use, they would find the computer on the website and then be told every type of RAM/CPU/etc that was compatible as we were dealing with many different companies and computers but can't remember this website as I need to find out what ram is compatible with a computer, and would be helpful to have this for the future I know theirs websites where I can input all the components but that's alot of wasted time

Hi all, so I was about to pull the trigger on a NAS for our small office. But I noticed that the drives included in this B&H Photo bundle w/ the DS923+ and 4x8TB Seagate IronWolf NAS Drives (SEST8000VN4) are not on the "approved/compatibility" list, and in fact there are almost 0 drives that are on this list. So what gives and what will happen by not using "approved" drives? Thanks!

It's apparently been 8 years since I built my first PC, so I'm a bit out of the loop and thought I'd check here to see if there aren't any major features I'm missing out on by running a modern GPU on older hardware. Basically just after something that can run most games smoothly (around 60fps) at high to ultra settings. The store in my area is selling: Asus GeForce GTX 1650 Dual 4GB for $226 AUD MSI Radeon RX 6500 XT Mech 2x OC 4GB for $226 AUD Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 Eagle 8GB for $329 AUD Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Gaming OC 12GB for $480 AUD From my own research looking at benchmarking videos and reviews: The 6500 XT appears to out perform the GTX 1650 in most games, at a similar price and power draw. I believe the 6500 XT would be adequate. The RX 6600 scales pretty well in performance along with its increase in price over the 6500 XT, and I believe it'll give me more head room to crank the settings. I watched the LTT review on the RX 6600, comparing it to the RTX 3060, and can see it performs extremely similarly - not enough to warrant the $151 jump in price (it's even on sale). So I'm thinking of going with the RX 6600. Is there anything I should know about, like system limitations or incompatibilities? System specs CPU: Intel E3 1231v3 (Haswell/4th Gen), ran games just fine at 1080 high/ultra settings back when I was using an R9 390. MB: MSI H97M-G43 RAM: 16GB DDR3 Current GPU: GT 1030 (used to have a R9 390 which ran fine, but swapped it for something that can display 4K at 60hz - i.e. something with HDMI 2.0) PSU: 450W - never had issues with power delivery

Hey guys, I live in the USA. What I have: An old TV, I know this isn't the ideal TV people are using for this purpose, but I'm interested in using this old TV (that is otherwise clutter) as a retro style monitor display for my Pokemon Dungeons casual nightly gameplay by hooking it up to my Nintendo Switch (non OLED). I don't know what's required, or if it's even possible. TV = Toshiba Model No.MV19L4 (manufactured Sep 2001) with one yellow and one white LINE IN aux point. I believe the yellow is for video in, and the white for audio in. I know it'll be the pleb version of audio for this purpose and I don't care. The TV is specked at AC 120V 60GHz 86W and (while not relevant might help you identify the tv I have) has a VHS and PHONES port. Here's what I want: 1) A seamless, preferably cheap but not unstable / not unreliable, way to hook my Nintendo switch up to my TV. Any recommendations? (I'm not worried about the distortion of the visuals as long as everything shows up on screen). Q: Is it possible not to get distortion of visuals? Probably not right? 2) I want the TV audio to work, but it really doesn't have to for my purposes, I can play Pokemon Mystery Dungeon silent Afterall. Note: I do not have nor plan to hook up any additional audio output from the TV, nor from the Switch. No interest in it. 3) I need to know if I can power the switch, the TV, and the connection means by no more than 2 wall outlets (with 2 within the rectangle)... it's a normal everyday 120 outlet... #USA. Yeah: i'm not an electrician so I likely sound like a complete moron describing the wall outlet... lol. Concerns / Unknowns: 1) Is my TV a real fire hazard and should I buy a fire extinguisher or am I fine using a TV from 2001 with absolutely no reasonable concern. ?: Any cheap recommendations for a properly applicable fire extinguisher? 2) Will I need to known linux or coding voodoo or can I plug and play? I'm an idiot, so hopefully I can just plug and play. Things you likely need to know: 1) I do not have any capable connection device. 2) I believe I lack audio cords for this purpose. So what's the damage? Any recommendations for what to buy to use here and how to use it?

Some free time to update my laptop from Win 10 to Win 11, my only concern is will it affect other software installed on my laptop? Two that I don't want to not work anymore. 1- Got NFS MW installed that runs fine. Update to Win 11 won't fuck it up will it? If it does, are compatability modes a safe backup? 2 - And most importantly, got pretty vital software installed on different windows versions within VMWare. Updating to Win 11 doesn't brick up VMWare does it? Already spend a few weeks sorting that mess out, don't want Windows 11 to cause another migraine. All safe to update to Windows 11? More specific, the 22H2 version?

So I impulsive bought my CPU because I really want my pc built, and on my box of my mother board, it says it’s 3000 ready. To try and keep track of everything I have, i plugged all my parts into PCBuilder and it says I will have comparability issues. I bought the Ryzen 5 3600 for information wise. After doing some research, I have seen that I might need to do a BIOS update in order for it to work, so my question is: I thought that it said “3600 Ready” and not “3000 Ready”, is this particular ASRock motherboard able to do a BIOS update without an installed CPU? If not, I have seen people say to contact AMD to see if they can send almost like a blank CPU so put on there while I do a BIOS update. Does anyone have any experience with this motherboard/cpu combo or anything similar. I’m getting really worried that I bought the wrong CPU and will not be able to boot up PC on build day.

On the ASUS PRIME Z690-A Board it says it supports up to 6000Mhz "(OC)" DDR5 memory, Say I bought a 6000MHz stick, is it fine? That "OC" detail thing throws me off. ASUS PRIME Z690-A + Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 6000MHz CL36 Are those compatible? & What does it actually mean? Why not just say it supports up to "6000MHz"

Okay... I'm a "newbee" here, and I hope that I am creating this post in the right place in this community. The main computer I had in my music studio fatally crashed it's hard drive. I had a great deal on a refurbished Dell Precision T3500 with Win10 Home and 1TB hard drive installed. Nearly everything is working great with my studio, in fact even better than my old computer, except that the video production part of my work is coming out glitchy. According to Device Manager my Graphics card is "MBDD". When I am running in minimized screen, things run quite smoothly but when maximized things get real glitchy. I assume that this is because MBDD can not handle the data load of my video production software that my old computer's Intel HD Graphics 2000 card could handle. Am I at least somewhat correct up to this point? I am a retired person who is continuing to run my music business and studio, mostly for production, post-production, mastering, performance, and educational purposes, and with this previous last years lack of income I have no investment and maintenance budget to spend. So here is my hopeful wish and question for my knowledgeable new friends in this community... Is the Intel HD Graphics 2000 card compatible with my new refurbished and clean Dell Performance T3500, Win10, computer? If not, does anybody have a list of compatible Graphic Cards, or a link to an upgrade for the MBDD card in my Dell? I hope for some answers and advice soon as I am in the midst of a important agreement on a music video production. Thank You, Bruce Berquist

I have a PCI-Express X16 2.0 Slot and recently ordered an R5 340X thinking it would give me more ram and power than my Radeon HD 7650D but I am now confused on wether or not I can put it in my pc. I ordered it because it needed no extra power consumption or extra cables. I searched up the port for the R5 340X and it says PCI-Express x8 3.0 but my motherboard has a PCI-Express x16 2.0 and I was wondering if the card is compatible.

Hi everyone As a long time LTT fan, I figured that this is the best place to ask my questions! I am currently planning on upgrading / adjusting my gaming system. The main reason for this is that I have bought a height-adjustable desk to which I added a computer mount (it looks pretty cool, keeps my computer off the ground and perfectly works with the cable management for an adjustable height desk). Currently, everything works fine, however, I have two goals: (1) I want to have a smaller and lighter case that better fits the computer mount (my current Fractal Design Define R6 is HUGE and pretty heavy with >12kg) and (2) I want to upgrade my graphics card (from an GTX 1080 to an RTX 3060TI). So why am I posting here? Well, it's about my open questions regarding (1) the case and motherboard compatability and (2) the GPU compatability overall. The Case: The NZXT H510 has peaked my interest due to its pretty clean and modern look, the pretty decent reviews (apart from airflow, I suppose), and the (for my purpose) suitable dimensions (H X W X D and weight). I have not decided between the base, i or elite version yet. My question in regard to choosing this case is pretty straighforward: Will I be able to use the front docks (USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C) with my motherboard, which only has USB Type-A and USB 3.1 slots (e.g. with an adapter)? If this does not work at all; any recommendations (e.g. other case)? The GPU compatability: With my current specs (see below), could there be any problems with the GPU upgrade to an RTX3060Ti? Do you think there could be any other challenges coming my way? Thank you very much in advance! Best regards Phil Disclaimer: I am new to PC building / upgrading (I initially bought my gaming PC and have been partly upgrading it over time). I watch alot of videos about it but have not yet build my own system. __________________________________________________________________________ Budget (including currency): All components (except case) are already in my possession / Budget: between CHF 50 - 180 for the case (approx. USD 55 - 185). Country: Switzerland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly used for gaming, e.g. Apex, Cyberpunk, Civilization 6, League of Legends, Assassins Creed, Star Wars Squadrons Other details: Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z370-P II CPU: Intel Core i7 8700k CPU Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H60 GPU: ASUS STRIX GTX1080 8G --> to be exchanged with an ASUS STRIX RTX3060TI Power: Corsair TXM550 RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB (4x 8GB, DDR4-3200) Case: Fractal Design Define R6 (Tempered Glass) --> to be exchanged, e.g. with NZXT H510

Country: US, NJ Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: unity, photoshop, and single player games Specs: core i7-9750H, gtx1650, 16gb ram, 1tb SSD hey guys, so I currently have an XPS 15 7590 and I want to use it for unity and some demanding games like the outerworlds and cyberpunk if it turns out to be a real game, I don't really need a lot of fps but I want to crank up the settings all the way up and maybe enable ray-tracing every now and then so I wanted to get a dock station but I'm not sure about compatability or if it could even work at all and I was wondering what exactly should I get for this to work like what's an e-gpu case that would work with the 3070 and what dock should I get for the laptop and whether or not I'll need a special cable or if most usb-C cables would do fine and what cable can I use for the display or if i'll have to just stick to the HDMI on the laptop. Also black friday is tomorrow an I wanted to use this opportunity to finally get a second monitor and I'm looking for a colour accurate monitor that's 1440p@120hz, if it's 4k then that's fine as long as it's not way more expensive, like around 100 USD more than the 1440p would be nice and if I can get a nice 1080p that's a lot cheaper I might get that instead but honestly I don't care that much about the refresh rate and would absolutely take an HDR screen over the 120hz if it wasn't a lot more expensive. One last thing is that I really want it to look clean and not super gamer-y, I honestly am not that savvy with monitors or dock stations so I was hoping to get recommendations and warnings about such monitors or systems

I currently own a SeaSonic M12II 620 W 80+ Bronze PSU. It shipped with really ugly and bulky cables, which is why i want to swap them out for CableMod SE-Series ModFlex Basic Cables. However, after hearing some talk about the risk of using PSU Cables that are not from the manufacturer of the PSU, i wasnt sure anymore, so i checked the Compatability List on Cablemod.com. I doesn't list the M12II. Is it just not listed or incompatible? Thank you for any answers.

Hey, im looking for ram (before motherboard due to prices) and was thinking about getting the 4000mhz Crucial stick but cant find it on the supported list for the 4 motherboards im looking at: MSI Z490 Tomahawk MSI WiFi 6 Gaming Edge WiFi ASUS ROG Strix Z490-G Gaming WiFi ASUS ROG Z490-E Gaming How worried should i be that the ram (BLE2K8G4D40BEEAK) doesnt appear on the list of supported ram, While other ram at the same speed and timings by Crucial seems to? Its going to be accompanied by an i7-10700, ram alternatives i was looking at are as follows, but not sure if i should pay the extra money.

Hi, I want to add a second GPU to my PC, I want to know is there anything important I'm missing, before buying the second GPU? Specs: Motherboard: B450 AUROS ELITE rev. 1 Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: GeForce RTX 2060 GPU To Add: Palit GeForce GT 710 Second GPU will go to the free PCIE X4 slot, cause PCIE is backwards compatible.(?) I Know I can't use Nvidia SLI. The Graphics card uses 19 W, so power shouldn't be a problem. Main purpose of the new card will be to stay with the Linux host while the RTX 2060 gets passed the guest.

Hi all, Just found this group via Techquickie's Youtube page & he seems to GUARANTEE I will find the answer here so I thought i'd give it a go! I have an old Asus Essentio CM6730 bought from new with an Intel Celeron G530 2 core CPU as it came (about 10 years ago now). This pc runs great & all I've ever done in that time is upgrade the Ram, GPU & the HDD. I want to upgrade the CPU for more performance (pc is only used for image editing currently but want to start doing some video editing on it). I don't use for gaming at all. I'm having trouble figuring out what Intel CPU will be compatible after hours of looking on the Asus site, Benchmark & loads of Youtube videos I'm completely lost! These are the specs that I have & would sooo appreciate any help here so I can get this old faithful pc up to speed (pardon the pun)! Asus Essentio CM6730 - shop bought in the UK around 2010. Intel Celeron G530 @ 2.4 ghz (codename Sandy Bridge)?? Socket 1155 LGA Mainboard: Asustek computer inc. CM6630_CM6730_CM6830 BUS Specs: PCI Express 2.0(5.0gt/s) Bios: American Megatrends Version 0510 I'd like to find a used i5 or even i7 on line to save money but open to all ideas.. Any help is massively appreciate for this newb to pc upgrades! Thanks in advance.

Hi All, I'm looking to upgrade to either a 30 series or 40 series card. All the ones i'm looking at have 3 connectors to the GPU. My power supply EVGA SuperNOVA 850 GM only has 2 VGA connectors listed. And I also don't have any extra 8 pin connectors in my box. I was wondering if this PSU is able to work with 3 connector cards, and how i would get the additional cable if possible. Thank you in advanced!
