Greetings! Didn't find the answer to my question anywhere else, even MSI support is in silent mode, so let me start. I am the "happy" owner of the MSI's B460M-A Pro motherboard and as it is known it doesn't support 11th gen Intel CPUs. And my CPU is currently i3-10100F for the last 3 years. So now I want to upgrade my CPU and my choice stopped at Comet Lake Refresh CPU named "i5-10505", since it costs only 106$ (used) at my place, while the equivalent which is i5-10600 cost starts from 149$ (new). I did also consider buying i7-10700KF or i7-10700F but I think it will be too much for my SFF system with a low-profile cooler CM 200GP. Before buying this i5-10505 (which apparently was only sold inside the pre-build PCs or so it looks like) I decided to check for once if this CPU is listed at my motherboard's "support" page in the "CPU Compatibility" section, and... It's not there. I tried to check other motherboards with B460, Z490 chipset, but i5-10505 is nowhere to be found, unlike, for example, 10325 or 10105F, which are also Comet Lake Refresh and were released at the same time. Apparently, all the pre-built PCs with i5-10505 come with their own custom motherboards, like Dell OptiPlex 5090 MT PC, so it's still a mystery if my motherboard MSI B460M-A Pro will support the CPU and which BIOS is needed for that (currently I'm at version 1.60 aka 7C88v16). Maybe some people here own this CPU or know if it's compatible with same motherboards as, let's say, i5-10500. I will greatly appreciate any advices and help.

Since I'm planning to upgrade my second gaming PC, I've been eyeing out for Z490 mATX board, the ASUS Z490 Gaming G seems like a good choice. So far, my first desktop PC is doing just fine! The upgrade went smoothly and I'm having little to no issue at all, so I'm still sticking to my upgrade methods, it's either Comet Lake or Rocket Lake, typically last gen hardware because it's maturity. Unfortunately, there's seem to be conflicting issues with the ASUS Z490 Gaming G or the articles are written incorrectly. Direct Source says no 11th gen support, while this article shows that it supports 11th gen, just no PCIE 4.0 (totally fine). Now, I'm worried about this as most of the retail shops that I look at (just the price list alone) shows 10700K is out of stock. Anyone on that board with 11th gen?

https://youtu.be/UMJZOjbsMeE In this video, the youtuber Moore's Law is Dead explores the possibility of the upcoming AMD CPU codenamed Van Gogh and Cézanne where he talks about the APU being 24cu in a 9 watt chip which he says that even it seems like 24 compute units is big for a low powered device it might utilize in both a small and big version. Moore also goes on saying that Van Gogh may be 200-220 mm^2 which he said is the size of AMD previous last gen APU codenamed Picasso's. He say this is a normal for AMD to create these kinds of APU because there are premium version of AMD's Picasso in the Microsoft Surface Book and thinks Van Gogh will be in used for the HP Spectre and the Surface Book which in theory could disrupt the thin and light laptops that Intel has been dominating in for a long time. But this of course my theory and not related to Moore saying. He then goes that the Renoir APU for the laptops maybe faster in frequency than Van Gogh but Van Gogh has a high compute unit which can fully saturate the performance. Moore says that the Van Gogh APU can be clocked high if AMD wants and can be in Dell XPS laptop which it doesn't need a discrete graphics because the Dell XPS laptops are thin and lights. Now he goes into the topic of Cézanne and the why it is using the APU Vega instead of RDNA 2. Moore say that Cézanne will be use a mixture of the upcoming Zen 3 and Vega 7 instead of upcoming RDNA 2. Renoir APU, Moore says, that the APU will be used to for specific parts of the market instead of focusing on one part of the market. Moore says that AMD will 4 or 5 segments of mainstream APUs. He says the reason why AMD will use Vega again on Cézanne is because he takes very little die space. Moore makes the point that instead wasting space on the die, just put Vega because AMD doesn't wants to waste half of the die space for RDNA 2 just because Vega because it is a overall better to save the space such as a Vega APU. He continues with saying Intel is taking the same approach but it is more clumsier and dumber unlike AMD which they are taking it the smarter way. With Intel, they releasing Tiger Lake, they would release the quad core model first then the 8 core after. Intel was scrambling to release Tiger Lake. Moore says if they had released a 6 core Tiger Lake cpu with 64 execution units of 96 units and clocked the chip higher and with less graphics he says it would have directly competed with AMD Renoir CPUs. Intel is rushing out quad core cpu and Moore says it will get crushed by AMD Van Gogh CPUs. So AMD will go with Zen 3 with Vega to maximize die space unlike Zen 2 with RDNA 2 graphics. Now we have some software that AMD is developing that might boost the APU frequency that could common in AMD laptops. Moore talked with a guy who develops software for AMD and says that with feature you can either speed the CPU up or undervolt it to give it sustain CPU frequency. But he saids that AMD might not release this feature due to the voiding of warranty. So we might have watch out for this update in a future driver update. Moore says that none of the APU that we have talked about will have HBM except for the AMD APU Raphael which will have HBM. He goes on to many more topics on Intel Meteor Lake but you guys can watch his video about. Again this is not my words but the words of the man Moore's Law is Dead. All credit due to him.

I only use my PC for light work and esports titles like CS:GO and now CoD Warzone, so I never really needed a high core count instead focusing on high clock speeds. So, a while back I picked up an i3-9350KF and OC'd it 5.0GHz, and it's been great. Love it. Rock solid. Perfect match for my GTX 1660 Ti. But with the announcement of next-gen consoles having 8-core CPUs, I'm kinda worried about the future of my CPU. Eventually, I want to upgrade my GPU when RTX becomes much cheaper. Or AMD makes an affordable option with RT. But before that, assuming Intel makes one, I think a i3-10350KF would be a perfect upgrade, yeah? I'd also want to OC one of these to like 5.0GHz too, so I think having twice the threads at that speed would cover me for a couple more years. Don't you think? I mean, I know the Ryzen 3 3300X exists, but I kinda want the maximum performance and OC headroom possible from a quad-core. And I don't really care about PCIe 4.0 for now. I don't know. What do you guys think? Anybody else super excited for an unlocked 10th Gen Core i3 quad-core w/ SMT? Presumably with a base clock of 4.0GHz?

I am asking myself if and when will the blade stealth be upgrading to 10th gen Intel CPUs. I am expecting a 6 core comet lake CPU as this is the only performance gain they can get over the 8th gen CPU. What are your thoughts on this?

Nice addition to this thread: Source 4: https://www.techpowerup.com/257283/intel-comet-lake-not-before-2020-ice-lake-s-not-before-q3-2020-roadmap-suggests Another wild Intel slide appears: Intel claims "a return to Moore's Law will come with them" and was "too aggressive pursuing 10nm, but will have 7nm chips in 2021." "The short story is we learned from it, we'll get our 10nm node out this year. Our 7nm node will be out in two years and it will be a 2.0X scaling so back to the historical Moore's Law curve," Swan added. However, at least with this one, there seems to be a decent amount of slides present. While this doesn't eliminate it from being completely faultless, it at least gives more conviction to the source material. Funnily enough, the addition of all SKUs now having HT (except Celeron) is interesting to say the least. Being that Ryzen has been offering this since launch, with Intel's reluctance to follow suit. This is obviously a great move by Intel, and IMO, displays Intel being realistic about the current state of competition within the CPU space. I think seeing the pricing though will determine exactly how serious Intel actually is. Side Note: Slides shown behind Spoiler tags ("Reveal hidden contents"). Also, there are many more slides related to the 400-series chipset alone. Please follow the source link to check out all of those; as I felt uploading all of them here would be a bit too much with the amount of slides I have already uploaded.

Hi, im building my first pc and Im getting a corei5 10600k, I live in peru so I dont have a lot of options when it comes to parts, honestly speaking the only two real options i have are the coolermaster hyper t200 and the hyper t20, everything else is too expensive atm or is not for sale (i do plan on possibly improving that eventually) I wont be doing any overclocking to the cpu but i would like to do some light gaming with the integrated gpu, which one would you suggest i buy?

Title says it all.. Task Manager shows the same results. I've no idea why, I went through the BIOS and found that all cores were enabled so I'm guessing it's not that. I've also tried going to msconfig to untick the boxes for boot without any luck. HWiNFO shows it has 4 Cores and 8 Threads, yet cores #2 and #3 isn't on... Any fixes, tips or suggestions? Is it fine though really... cause I've no idea if there are any performance drawbacks out of this whilst multitasking or playing games.

Intel's Comet Lake is a power consumption beast, but when it comes to actually cooling it, how much do you REALLY need? I have been trying to get my 10600k work at respectable frequency for a while. Now I soom to have found stable settings, but after stressing CPU the core frequency lowers for no apparent reason. What might cause that, any ideas? Motherboard - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/TUF-GAMING-Z490-PLUS/

I have tried on both Speccy and HW Monitor and the CPU temp of my 10700k is not showing up. It does show the temperature in the BIOS though. I keep my AIO's fans on a fairly aggressive fan curve and so far have not had any problem with thermal throttling during gaming so I THINK my system knows the temp, I just can't see it. Below are some screenshots for both Speccy and HW Monitor.

Source: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-comet-lake-cpu-specs-10-cores,38806.html To believe only three years ago Intel's top of the line mainstream CPUs were only 4C8T. Yet, here we are looking at 10C20T CPUs being released as mainstream parts in 2019. It's really a wonderful thing when competition is brought into a market, and we have AMD and Ryzen to thank for this. Also looking back, three years ago, a 10C20T CPU from Intel would have cost you nearly $1800 USD as an HEDT part. While there are no rumors on pricing, we can at least think Zen 2 could quite possibly push the price down to more than half of what it was for a 10C20T 6950X: that's if Intel wants to retain its relevancy in the marketplace. Which also means they are going to have to do better than i9-9820X pricing as well; especially if any of the Ryzen 3000 series rumors are to be correct (12C24T for $300 and 16C32T for $449).
