When Input Club and Massdrop - oh, sorry, I meant Drop - had a feud on mechanical keyswitches, Input Club settled and made their own 'Hako' flavor of tactile switches. What I have here today is the Hako Violet by Input Club, one of the lightest if not the lightest tactile switch I have ever used in my life, at just a 50g bottom-out from what I researched online about this particular switch. The Hako Violet is the brother of Input's Club Hako line, next to its siblings, the Hako Clear and the Hako True. All three of them are tactile switches and share the same Kailh Box design used in similar switches such as the Kailh Box Jade, Kailh Box Navy, and Kailh Box Heavy Burnt Orange, so they all include a remarkably boxy stem to prevent dust and moisture from entering the housing. My Kailh Box Jade review of which you can read here. As mentioned earlier, the Hako Violet is a tactile switch. Opening up the switch and taking a look at the stem, there is a noticeable dip in the leg of the Box stem. In my opinion, the Hako Violet isn't noticeably more tactile than an MX Brown, but is still soft enough to be satisfying and indicative of actuation. I believe this is due to the inherently lightweight nature of the entire switch as a whole which emphasises the sharpness of the tactile bump. My favorite thing about choosing this tactile switch over a mainstream MX Brown is the consistency of the switch's actuation. The Box stem is great for minimising stem wobble as well as promoting as consistent actuation on the keypress across an entire keyboard, as there is so much more surface area for the stem to slide down, making them extra smooth. Out of curiousity, I lubed the sides of the stem with thin Tribosys 3204 lube and I found that it did not enhance the smoothness of the switch in any way. I believe this may be because the switch is inherently smooth thanks to the design, and also that the Box stem sticks further out which leaks out lube when not pressed down. Input Club have done an excellent job at creating a switch which is smooth and tactile and that is all thanks to the Box-style switch. While I don't think the tactility is any better than a standard MX Brown, nor is it more extreme than a Zealios V2 switch, the switch's strong point lies in the consistency of actuation and smoothness of actuation.

Hey there! @LinusTech always makes sure to note, that FPC's 1080p looks better than Youtube's 4K (although @Slick always adds a disclaimer). I decided that it was time to either prove their point or prove them wrong! I used frames from SYW S5 E01, to compare YT's streamed 4K to 1080p mp4s I downloaded from FPC. You can easily tell which parts of the image are from YT, since I did not want to do anything to the images apart from slicing them. (one is sliced weirdly, try to tell which one) You should also ignore the darker parts in the top and bottom of the YT slices, since I had to pause the video to get the screencaps, so try to find the lines cutting the images in the center of the screen. Spoiler: It wouldn't be easy One thing I have notices though, is that the image could be a little less noisy when cuts or rapid movements occur, but also note, that Kyle's finger in the second image is a fast moving object for these purposes

I don't have floatplane club. Reason: Can't find videos. Takes too long to find the videos advertised on LTT on YouTube, so i gave up... Missed out on my money i guess Linus and Luke!

Hey everyone! So I've been a big fan on LMG videos on Vessel and thefloatplaneclub sounds like a great idea like explained in the WAN video. So I took all of the ideas posted by Linus on the original post and made a quick design from it. Is this the end goal for thefloatplaneclub? Is there a timeline or a set of next steps? Tell me what you think, but I would really like to have a proper site other than YouTube, something that accommodates the sponsors, conversations, links and information about the hardware shown, etc. Jay

So yeah, this is me reviewing the club, kind of a "before you buy" warning. What for you knowing what you are getting yourself into. Some background : I used to have Vessel, it worked ok, then worked great ! (by the end they had a pretty good platform tbh). I got bored of the repetitive ads tbh wich is why I decided to go with them. (and floatplane club) ON TO THE THING What is the Floatplane Club ? Well its an independant web streaming service provided by LinusMediaGroup, and there you can stream AD-LESS (no ads before video nor during video, say bye bye to Tunnelbear and Squarespace) videos as soon as 7 days in advance ! (1080p max resolution because of bandwidth limits) you can also download the videos ! (up to 720p) you can comment in a comment sections like the forum threads (see bottom of thread for picture) and you get a blue name / badge. All that for a decent $2.99 (usd) / month. But, it does have its inconvinients. Not all videos are uploaded 1 week early (Actually, if you look, the past week weren't so bad, but sometimes you get 2-3 per week) Hell, for CES videos were up HOURS or sometimes a full day before they hit the Floatplane Club. Sometimes you don't get a new video for the day. (Either its super late, or its the next day. you never know. Is it a problem ? Yes ! Im paying $3 per month I should get it every day ! Regardless of if its a same time youtube upload or not. Overall, the whole thing is pretty inconsistant. You never know when something won't happen because "oh yeah we had trouble with this" or "sorry its late, we can't upload at 2 places at the same time" Im sorry but if I pay 3$ usd per month. I would expect to be delivered something in a constant manner. I find it hard to believe that its that hard to release on the floatplane club before youtube gets the same video (for same day releases). Should you get it ? No. Not for now at least. Its such a messy experience that I find myself going back to watch on youtube because its easier. and most of the time, the video will be up there before the Floatplane Club.

I am a sophomore in a high school. I want to start a technology club with my friends in my school.We know about coding and we want it to be the main activity in the club, but we don't want it to be the only one. Our parents wouldn't be covering much of the club's expenses. And we would not be able to get much money for the club, just some from membership fees. I want to know cheap, fun and educational activities that we can do in the club.

I work as a computer teacher and IT at a K-12 school and I run a PC Gaming Club there for the kids. Unfortunately we're stuck with very, very under-powered, ancient graphics cards. Most of the other hardware is alright, we got SSD boot drives, 8GB of RAM, and i7 2600 CPUSs... but we're stuck with these awful, OEM, Radeon HD 6570 graphics cards. I haven't outlined this fact in my GoFundMe page, but these things are also starting to self destruct too because the heat sinks are so bad that they inflate and crack the fan shroud, seizing the fan, or worse, bust the GPU die/short something. I have pics too. We aren't going to be using these for just gaming, also need the hardware beef for a Game Design/Development class I intend on teaching as well as some other Digital Media topics as well. <Link Removed> Anything helps, even sharing would be awesome!

I signed up for Floatplane Club on the 15th of October, and cancelled it before it renewed the following month. Strangely, I can still access the Floatplane subforum and watch the videos, as well as participate in the Floatplane Pilot areas of the Discord server. I'll try the resync fix and then update my post if that fixes it.

Halloween Week! Week 64 is upon us! Choose the spooky(or not spooky at all) series you'd like to watch this week! As usual polling will last around 48 hours! The first half of the story is really solid, but it starts to break off from there where it's still interesting to watch, but not in the same way as it stops being realistically interesting and turns kind of absurd.. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good show, but it shifts gears pretty massively mid way through, so keep that in mind. This Week's Anime! Gurren Lagann Synopsis In a faraway future, mankind lives underground in huge caves, unknowing of a world above with a sky and stars. This Week's Anime! xxxHOLiC Synopsis Kimihiro Watanuki can see spirits and other assorted supernatural creatures, which is quite a bothersome ability he strongly dislikes. On the way home one day, while plagued by some spirits, he is inexplicably compelled to enter a strange house. There, he encounters Yuuko, a mysterious woman who claims to be able to rid him of the ability to see and attract the troublesome creatures—for a price. She demands that he work at her "store" that grants wishes to people, and thus begins Kimihiro's adventures through weird and wonderful events. This Week's Anime! Non Non Biyori Synopsis Asahigaoka might look like typical, boring countryside to most; however, no day in this village can ever be considered colorless thanks to five students of varying ages occupying the only class in the only school in town. The youngest student is first grader Renge Miyauchi, who brings an unadulterated wit, curiosity, and her characteristic catchphrase, "Nyanpasu!" Then there are the Koshigaya siblings consisting of the quiet ninth grader and elder brother Suguru, diminutive eighth grader Komari, and the mischievous seventh grader Natsumi, whose appearance may fool you at first thanks to her constantly emulating her more mature older sister. The recent arrival of Tokyo-raised fifth grader Hotaru Ichijou, who appears overdeveloped for her age and thus naturally holds an air of maturity, rounds out this lively and vibrant group of five classmates. This Week's Anime! Assassination Classroom Synopsis When a mysterious creature chops the moon down to a permanent crescent, the students of class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Middle School find themselves confronted with an enormous task: assassinate the creature responsible for the disaster before Earth suffers a similar fate. However, the monster, dubbed Koro-sensei (the indestructible teacher), is able to fly at speeds of up to Mach 20, which he demonstrates freely, leaving any attempt to subdue him in his extraterrestrial dust. Furthermore, the misfits of 3-E soon find that the strange, tentacled beast is more than just indomitable—he is the best teacher they have ever had! While its a story made for children (playing in the same fantasy land as Seirei no Moribito), Kemono no Souja Erin addresses adult topics at a mature level. The target audiences’ age is somewhat irrelevant, because the characters bloom, especially Erin. She’s a child character the viewer can admire and adore. Following her journey through childhood and into her teenage years, she comes to life as one of the most well developed characters I’ve come across. Coupled with nicely fitting music and a special artstyle this anime is a real "hidden gem"." Synopsis Erin is a young girl who lives with her mother in a village which raises war-lizards, called Touda. We see her daily life, which changes as she grows up. Meanwhile, there is growing tension between the two provinces of the country she lives in. Based on the fantasy series written by Uehashi Nahoko, also known for Seirei no Moribito.
