  1. Has anyone seen CPU cooler like this? What is it called? Has any reviewer review it/similar to it? This is from Icicleflow. Model AF-T-001. Alibaba item page Global Sources item page
  2. Yo!, Just built a new rig, its a Fractal Design node 304 build with a 7700k using the corsair h90 watercooling. The h90 got a 140mm fan mount and so did the chassi so it worked perfectly to just add it to the exhaust vent. However the chassi is so small the only way I can see to get in like a MSI seahawk X or evga hybrid (closed watercooled gpu) in there would be to add that radiator in a series to the other radiator using like a 140mm to 120mm bracket like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Bgears-Cooling-Fan-Adapter-140mm-Black/dp/B0043GMY1U Would that be an overall just bad idea you think?, as the cpu radiator would only get warm air to cool down, or would I only lose a few degrees, and it might be ok? ./Pintuz PS: not sure if this is a reoccuring topic so I posted it as a new topic, sorry if its discussed somewhere else
  3. Was finalizing a build that revolves around the 1950x, but started hearing that as far as closed circuit cooling goes; Corsair Hydros just don't cut keeping the threadripper cool. I'm not looking to make a custom loop, but more after tips or advice on a good and proper cooler for the 1950x. Thanks!
  4. Hello Everyone, My first post here and it's because I normally can come up with solutions on my own fairly well but this time around I am curious to see what a community will think. I have a MSI Gaming X GTX 1080 TI and want to water cool it. Problem is it seems to be a customer PCB and I don't want to cook the VRAM without some kind of direct cooling. Corsair seems to have teamed up with MSI for a customer water blocked Founders Edition.. But even on Air Cooling my card is faster when over clocked. So I'd like to just do it myself. It appears they are using a H55 or H90 for their build with the FE frame around it. Probably for cooling ram. Now good news for me is that my card extends out to just in front of my Push case fans blowing air into my case. I can put the waterblock in my Pull fan position and have it blow air out still, even through the radiator. But what would you guys recommend for handling the memory cooling or am I just dreaming here? Thanks, Synyster
  5. Hi, my CPU temperatures are high and I don't know why. I updated my motherboard ASRock X99M Killer/3.1 BIOS to version 3.80. I didn't check the temperatures after the update. After a while I did some rendering and noticed the Corsair text turned red. I shut down the computer and waited a few minutes and then went to BIOS. The CPU temperature was over 70 degrees. Before, the idle temperatures hovered between +28 °C - 35 °C. My first guess was contact between the cold plate and the CPU. I changed the thermal paste and the temperatures were lowered by a few degrees. I think, I heard a bubbles going through the pump - so that might be the cause. Is there any way to get the air out of the system? Is the CPU voltages ok? Is there something else that I could try?
  6. I was wondering if anyone has tried out the new NZXT Kraken x42/52/62, and how well it performed. I was planning on purchasing one for general cooling ability, and also aesthetics. Plan on buying some EK Vardars with the x62, but if anyone has other suggestions for AIO/Fans, please say so!
  7. I asked another question regarding pcie lanes but decided I am going to go down the road of the HEDT Market and the entry level 9800X from intel. This is cause I need the PCIe lanes for my setup. But that is just a header, The main question is pretty simple. The 9800x needs cooling, and it needs a good cooler. I intend to run it overclocked, at next to 24/7 operation. So with that in mind I need a few suggestions for CPU coolers, preferably Closed Loop Liquid Coolers, but semi open loop is welcome as well. Things to bear in mind: I'm working in a Lian-Li o11 Dynamic Case, I already have my fans chosen, I just need some cpu block and rad insights. According to EK, a single 240mm rad with a thickness of 28mm would be fine, that does not account for fin density though. I've been debating between the following; Corsair H115i RGB Platinum NZXT Kraken x62 Alphacool Eisbaer Extreme 280 EKWB MLC Pheonix 280mm variant. I need to know two things, can I expect this to overclock fine? Will my radiator sizing option be sufficient for cooling the 9800x?
  8. Hello lads, A thought crossed my mind, What if I put Mineral oil inside a closed loop system, and frankly what I've found out on some older posts that my necromancy skill didn't allow me to resurrect, was astonishingly miss informed, I currently have an AIO, my system barely needs even that amount of cooling, so with some key points I'd like to point out, I'd like to discuss with some crazies that done/ want to do, some more unusual liquid cooling solutions. First things first let's dive down to some numbers: Specific heat of water is around 1 kcal/kg, and its viscosity is around 1 cP@20ºC, but let's be more realistic and place it at 0.9cP@40ºC, the idle temp of most loops. The specific heat of Mineral oil is around 0.4 kcal/kg, so it transfers heat at more than double the speed of water, so that fluffer that keeps saying in every single forum that I've visited that mineral oil is an insulating liquid can go plow a troll, it's viscosity is around 44cP@20ºC or ~15cP@40ºC, so it would require a larger than average pump to maintain a steady flow, but before you scream that at a minimum it's 15 times the viscosity, I'll say it now, NO you don't need 15 pumps worth to pull that liquid a single D5 per block SHOULD be ok. Next and for now last is 99% isopropyl alcohol With a specific heat of 0,6 kcal/kg, a viscosity of ~2cP@20ºc or ~1.6cP@40ºC, this is the fun part, Isopropanol has a boiling point of 80ºC@1atm, so theoretically he should vaporize with a random AMD'esque spike, pulling even more heat with his latent energy and even more heat if he becomes a gas since his specific heat is even smaller when in gas form, but there are many problems with isopropanol, main one being that he tends to vaporize in ambient temperature something that requires a whole post just how to deal with that. But now for the elephant in the room, that I haven't addressed, seals and o-rings, in short, I'll make a general rule for exotic liquids: EPDM (the usual run of the mill rubber seal): Water, acids and Ketones, grade A, against every other compound, DON'T TRY IT. NBR: A monster of a rubber, he's resistant against most forms of chemical attack, and he's made for oil like substances, just get ketones away from him. Some other words of advice, All acids will corrode all metal parts in the loop, and mineral oil will break apart PETG, Acrylic is fine for mineral oil, but I wouldn't recommend it for Isopropyl, it tends to stain and bloat, if you truly want a mad scientist closed loop I'd recommend glass tubing. The main thing I'd wanted to clear up was those god-awful "facts" about the properties of mineral oil, But do feel free to post crazy cooling solutions like vodka, or orange juice cooling.
  9. I was thinking about getting water cooling for my parts and started doing some maths. it would cost me more to make a custom water cooling loop for my setup than to go with the option below, but i was confused if it would work or not. Using the NZXT Kraken G12 (https://www.nzxt.com/products/kraken-g12-black) for my GPU, then place one of the supported AIO CPU coolers into the mount on the G12. i was also most likley going to get a Corsair H60 120mm AIO for my CPU. Kraken G12: $20 Supported AIO Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series 105 240mm cooler $150 CPU AIO: ~$90
  10. Hi, I have a i7 5960x in my system with a gtx 1080 ti. I have both of them under liquid cooling with AIO coolers. I'm considering a switch to open loop from the current AIO setup I have. The reason for this is because the CPU gets very hot when I OC it. I'm getting temps of 90-95c which wasn't the case when I first installed the AIO. I'm not doing any extreme OC either, it's 4.4Ghz @ 1.22v. When I first installed the cooler my temps were around 65c at max. I had the same issue with this cooler before and had to RMA it. It seems whatever they put inside of those coolers starts to fail after a month or two. I'm sick and tired of doing an RMA. I haven't had any problems with the gpu cooler and both coolers are from the same company. I can't figure out what's causing the cpu cooler to degrade so quickly, but I'm tired of it and want to make the switch. My concern is that if I switch I'll have the same problem, but with more maintenance involved for open loop setup. I've reached out to the guys at EKWB and they helped get a configuration going. I'm going to use 1x 360 and 1x 240 rad for the loop instead of 2x 360's like in the picture. Would this radiator setup be enough to run my system silently and keep it cool during load? What is the importance of reservoir size? Does it impact how often the water needs to be changed? I'm concerned about mixing metals since I'm a nooby. I would be happy to use an all Aluminium set if I could find one. Would I still have to worry about the same problems if I didn't use mixed metals? What impact does tubing size and thickness have on performance? Also, I think the pump I picked is a bit overkill. I picked the pump with the best max flow specs. I assuming it can move the liquid faster through the loop resulting in better cooling or am I wrong here? Would appreciate any other nooby advise you guys can offer, thanks.
  11. Hi Everyone, I have a system that is currently very difficult to keep cool. I have tried a couple of different cases but ultimately the problem I run into is because I have the absolute worst cooling hardware on my GPU's for tripple SLI. I feel like it is pretty obvious why when you look at this picture: Essentially, I am looking at planning a watercooling loop because I have to run my cards at 70% to keep them under 69 degrees C. (yes, I could run them hotter, but I really don't want to.) I will post pics when I get home tonight of the build, and have them below this sentence explaining some of the limitations I am running into for liquid cooling. As you will see the cards are very long and are almost to the front of the case, by the time I put a 120x360 (will have to be a thin Rad) in front I won't have any room for a vertical Res. However, I do have a lot of space below my cards for some kind of horizontal Res. I also have enough room at the top to run a 45mm thick 120x240 rad with pull fans. I already own high static pressure fans from thermaltake called Riing that have orange LED rings. If anyone has any tips or thoughts about how to do this, and whether or not the liquid cooling will be effective with a thin 3x120 and a medium thick 2x120 with pull fans and in the loop including CPU and 3 GTX 980 classifieds. Or any tips about making this work inside the air 540, let me know. P.S. I know that 3x SLI is not always the most effective but I love to play MMO's in 7680x1440 and have 3 ROG Swift 27" making it worth it to me. I would like to play these games at ultra and around 100FPS or 3D around 30 FPS if possible. (already uses all 4gb of vram in each card when doing 3d and only runs at 20fps with 70% utilization of the card.)
  12. Hello guys, Recently I have managed to take control over my pc fans, which I consider a little success. Now instead of spinning at some crazy speeds I managed to set the S.M.A.R.T sets which made my PC silent. Well, in terms of fans... To begin with, I have NZXT H440, the silenced version and Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate, and ASUS X99 Sabertooth. This means I am running 7 fans in total (assumed that motherboard fan is turned off). 3 x 120mm front-intake fans - plugged into the CHA_FAN (fan chasis fan headers) 3 x 120mm radiator (top mounted) fans - plugged into the 3 way Y cable split supplied with the cooler plugged into the CPU_FAN header 1 x 140mm back-exhaust fan - plugged into the CHA_FAN as well and a god damn buzzing pump, which I tried plugging everywhere but nothing seemed to change the effect. Left it plugged into the fan hub supplied with the case. The trouble is, that I can silence all of the fans, so that all I hear is this stupid pump, which makes this strange, *bzzzz*/*trrrrrttt* sound all the time. I don't think this is normal, even for a AIO cooler. Moreover, when it was plugged into the motherboard I noticed that the spinning speed is at ~1800RPM, and the box says it will run at 3600RPM. I am really worrying what to do, because I cannot seem to find any solution here... I was able to slow down the pump a little using the DC controller in my motherboard's bios, but it turned down the buzzing just a little. Of course I don't want to decrease my performance, so I plugged it back on, so it runs a constant 7V now, perhaps at 1800RPM, but I cannot measure that. The CPU fans are 4-pin, while the exhaust and intake fans are 3-pin. The pump is 3 pin as well. I can control their speeds through the DC though. I love the possibilities of this motherboard, just wish there was anything to do with the pump.. Some help here, anyone? 13. So I've been looking at a 240mm AIO for my next build, and the TD02-E seems like an amazing choice, especially considering the price, and I know silverstone is a reputable brand, but I can't find a huge number of reviews for it, so I'm wondering if anyone would care to share their experiences with silverstone rads, especially with regards to A) ease of installation (in my case likely in an S340), and B) noise. Thanks.
  14. Hi guys, Well I just bought my new pc, but the problem is the temperature of my i5 4690k. While doing the stress test, the minimum temp is at 37 degree celsius but at 100% load it's at 82 degree celsius. Is this temp okay or is it too high for a cpu that is not yet overclocked. I'm wondering if the one at fault is me at applying thermal paste or my cpu cooler is faulty. Oh, I still lack 3 more fans for my case, Define R4, 2 exhaust, 1 intake. I know it's a bit of a problem since it creates negative pressure. It would be a really great help if you can help me here. i5-4690K MSI GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr 8gb G.skill ripjaws x 1866 cl9 Cooler Master Seidon 120V Crucial M550 128GB Seagate Barracuda 1TB Fractal Design Define R4 Cooler Master V650

Eitherway I was looking into purchasing a closed loop cpu cooler since i've never touched watercooling and I figured a pre-done solution is my best bet to avoid any issues. My question is: Will either of these cooling solutions fit my case? I was leaning to putting the radiator on the top of the case and removing the fans the case comes with in order to do it. It is a rather large case and i've yet to have issues with fitting anything in it. I was also thinking of purchasing the larger radiator since based on the little I know, "larger radiator = Better cooling"
  16. LOOKING FOR AMD USERS WITH WATERCOOLING LOOPS: Okay so Im running an AMD fx 8370, and I just added a kraken x41 cpu cooler, and I've noticed temps are higher than they were with my hyper 212. I run about 41 degrees on idle. Questions: Those of you with AMD things (especially the 8350 or 8370)- what temps do you get with water cooled amd stuff? What temps should I expect? Do I have a faulty cooler? This is really concerning me!! I was getting 35 idle with my hyper 212... Are water coolers good for keeping the temperature consistent or just slowing down the increase in temperature? Like if I have a stress test running, will I see the same temps as idle, and only see a minuscule increase in temps? Or will I notice they work like air coolers and just slow down the increase? Thanks for the help
  17. Hello Linus Tech Tips! First time posting here, so please bear with me. Posing a question today that I have seen very different responses to through my searching. Hope to get a good discussion going and solve it! I am a happy owner of an Aerocool Mechatron White Window Edition Mid Tower computer case. Product page: http://www.aerocool.com.tw/index.php/chassis/pgs/pgs-b/... Inside I have an FX-8350 cooled by a zalman cnps8900 extreme. Product page:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... (dont worry, didnt pay that price!) The zalman is great for the stock clock speeds of the fx-8350 (4.0ghz), but when it comes to overclocking, this low profile heatsink/fan just doesn't keep up. And so I have considered closed loop watercooling. After some research, I have considered purchasing the Corsair H100i GTX. Product page: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... Question is, will it fit in the case? There seems to be some disagreement. Some forums have stated that this will not work, and then there are others who say it will. Consider these pictures: 1) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/96356447/proofofcompat.jpg 2) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/96356447/more%20proof.jpg Granted, those are for the h100i, which is 3mm smaller than the h100i GTX. It seems that, when it works, people put the rad under the mesh and then then fans beneath that. Do you think this will work? I plan to pick up a pair of Aerocool Shark 120mm blue led fans to match my color scheme, though I already own a pair of 140mm sharks (will just move them elsewhere). Product page: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... Looking forward to reading your advice! -Kent
  18. I've had my H80i for a year-and-a-half now. The blue LED doesn't work anymore on the pump, and the rubber hose clamps they used have disintegrated. Temps were great when I first got it, ~29c idle and ~50c under full load. Now the CPU (i5 3570k 3.4Ghz) idles around 40c and when I'm gaming it sits at 80c! The fans are always ramped up to keep the temps down and I can even hear it with headphones on! The pump RPM is normal (2179). But if their is no easy fix for this I'm just going to buy a good mid-range air cooler.
  19. I recently built my first custom gaming rig and due to budget restrictions I went with the NZXT Kraken x31 over the x61. The actual cooling aspect works fine, and I can edit the coolers settings from within the CAM software. However I can't seem to get the LED on the pump to work. Iv tried disconnecting the fan header etc to see if a re-initialize would solve the problem, but with no luck. In the CAM software I have set a colour and according to the software the LED on the pump should be working, but when I look inside my case (Through the side panel window) there is ZERO light coming from the pump. If anyone knows of any possible problems/fixes for my issue a response would be greatly appreciated.
  20. I was totally expecting to be inundated with reviews of the new 280mm closed loop cooler by Corsair weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything since the product was announced. Does anyone know what gives? I'm really interested in the product, but refuse to by before I watch at least 20 YouTube reviews. Also I've been hearing more and more complaints about the Fractal Design Define R5 not being nearly as water cooling friendly as they had first stated. Does anyone know how well a 280mm rad and fans will fit at the top of the case? I am pretty much limited to that spot only.
  21. Hello, and thanks for reading this already! I'm making a silent-but-really-powerful-gaming-rig. The entire goal of the thing is to stay under 20 decibels when not under load, which is pretty damn quiet. Now here's the thing. I kinda want closed loop water cooling, but all of them are 35 decibels and up. Is there really quiet closed loop cooling or do I sound like an idiot? Thanks in advance!
  22. What is the best closed loop liquid cooler for a i7 4770k that would fit in a fractal define R5
  23. Hi everyone! I was wondering if this closed loop gpu cooler would work for my Powercolor R9 270x Devil edition? Two of the fans are missing one blade and this thing gets LOUD when gaming so I'm looking to replace it with a liquid cooler.
  24. Alright so i really need a nice looking heatsink. Since i wont be oc'ing much if at all i don't need an amazing one. I would really like something that looks nice, i thought about closed loop coolers but the tubes don't look good to be. i would like it to be around $50. It would be awesome to have a small cooler as i don't like huge coolers and be able to see the fans a lot as i will be custom painting my fans. Thanks so much for the help.
