cpu I512400f and b660tomahawk clock speeds
Kyeman97 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi im having a rough time optimizing this cpu for gaming, what is best for gaming performance clock speeds fluctuations when core set to turbo ratio and c6 c states enabled i get fluctuations of 3.9-4.1 4.4 it only ever gets to 4.4 for a second mainly on 4.1 dipping to 3.9 sometimes will i benefit from syncing all cores and no c state which locks all cores to a constant 3.99 for gaming? No thermal throttle the chip does go above 50degress on stress tests- 6 replies

Background: I have a Dell G5 5590 that is exhibiting some odd behavior. Specs are as follows: I5 9300H GTX 1650 32 GB Ram (Dual Channel) I've done a few things to this PC in this order: Cleaned the fans (spraying air cannister condensate into them by accident causing notable whining) Installed MSI Afterburner to attempt to give my GPU a small bump. This resulted in battery drain even when plugged in when gaming (and some really bad battery activity such as not charging to 100%). Uninstalled MSI Afterburner I removed my battery as it began to swell and used my laptop exclusively plugged in. went from 8gb to 32 gb of ram Recently replaced SSD and reimaged with fresh windows 10 (issue still persists) The Problem: Performance began to dip after Uninstalling MSI Afterburner and got notably worse when i removed my battery. During game sessions, I would experience extreme dips in FPS (80fps to low 15s) and would stay low for a notable amount of time. Generally this happened when more was happening on screen, however this was not the only trigger as it would happen when I hadn't moved in game at all with nothing on screen. For a time the fans would kick in, however they recently have not (though they are still functional, aka i can force them to 100% speed). With task manager open, I noticed my clock speeds acting extremely weird, with clock speeds dropping extremely low when under load. During my testing for example, in a situation where multiple abilities on screen, my frames dropped from 80 to 10, and when I checked my clock speeds, they were 1.15Ghz (For context the base clock of my CPU is 2.4Ghz). My temperatures at that moment were around 60c. What I've Tried: Running Aida 64 and stressing my CPU had a similar effect where my clock speeds dropped from 2.4Ghz to around 1.1Ghz under load, This was without any temperature spikes or anything, once under load the clockspeeds would simply drop. NOTE: During this test Aida 64 did not show the warning for thermal throttling. Fresh install of Windows, however problem still persists in games (I have not benchmarked aida 64 in this new install) My Question: What could be the cause of this downclock underload? I will be doing more testing with Aida64 and other tools, trying to replace parts by ordering them through dell. Is it a voltage problem? perhaps with the battery gone my 130W powersupply is unable to supply enough power? I'm no longer sure where to look, and some help would be much appreciated! Thank you so much for reading, I'm thankful for any help here!

I don't know how to explain better than the title. I'll be playing rocket League and my GPU clocks will start fluctuating from it's high state down to idle to high and so on usually lasting about 20 seconds before returning back to normal but sometimes it just continues until I close the game. The only other game it happens in is Ark survival evolved while Netflix constantly decides to disconnect the dp signal to my monitor yet also not letting me use kbm to close it/altf4 ect. Ps it's not the GPU as it happened with my 2070 as well as 3090 and 4080.

I was checking if weither or not my cpu temperatures were normal by using HWiNFO and checking if everything other than temperatures is normal. But i came to notice that the minimum values of my Core Clock Speed are "798-797.7 mhz or 0.78-0.79 ghz" but the average is 4.5 ghz (*which i dont really have a problem with it's just that the minimum values of my core clock speed was reported to have been around 789 mhz/0.79 ghz and when doing graphs and doing tasks like opening google chrome, and gaming i see it drop sometimes to 798 mhz in real-time or while alt tabbing but i dont notice it right away. But only for a solid 2 seconds and comes back to 4.5 ghz normal. It just basically reports that the minimum is 798 mhz/0.78 ghz. the avg for the core clocks are fine 4.7 ghz but im just wondering why in apps such as HWiNFO and HWMONITOR it reports my minimum clock speed from 4.3 ghz before. Now to around 798 mhz/0.79 ghz but i see it happen in real-time though It only happens when after sometime has passed by doing nothing and seeing the graphs of the core clocks to while alt-tabbing and opening google chrome, etc. It wont even report in task manager in real-time that it dropped to 0.78 ghz only or what not. Only on the two apps i mentioned. The minimum clock can be seen on some cores but it doesnt all happen together it happens to one core then goes back to normal. Its either one of the cores that have a reported minimum of 0.79 ghz or some cores but some not. This happens when im using the PC or just using it ingeneral when idling i don't really know.It drops for like a solid 2 seconds. No prior overclocks including the cpu and gpu were attempted but i did turn on xmp for like 30 mins and reverted the bios settings back to default. Checking Task Manager nothing's wrong what could be causing this? Back then it was around like 4.3 ghz as minimum but now its 0.78-79 ghz as minimum. Maximum is 4.7 which im completely fine with either way But is the minimum value of my core clock speed for my cpu worrying? my cpu is not overheating, not thermal throttling or any other than that. It's not a major issue it's just that it's reported as 0.78-79 ghz as minimum for Core Clock Speed I dont have a problem with my maximum clock speeds im completely fine with it. But my minimum clock speed is 0.79 ghz/789 mhz on one core only it doesnt happen at both or at all of the cores. Only happens to one core and for a solid 1 second or 2 seconds and all is normal again. If i reset the min and max reports it'll go minimum 4.3 ghz but after some time on the graphs you can see that it dropped to 0.79 ghz and come back up to what it was before 4.3ghz or 4.5 ghz, etc. Is there anything wrong with my pc? i reverted the bios settings to default just incase. but the saved changes to default werent nearly anything about CPU Clocks, Voltages it was just about TPM and enabling it. Specs are: i5 10600 GTX 1050 TI Intel Stock Cooler Prime H410M-E 1x8 Kingston Fury RGB No XMP (*But i did turn XMP on before and off and set Memory Frequency to 2666 MHZ but i reverted the settings back to their default option by pressing Default(F5) on EzMode ASUS Bios. And it does not go stable 0.78-0.79 ghz its just that its reported as the "minimum" core clock speed doesnt go lower than that. Some Cores for a second go to 798 MHZ/0.79 ghz but it happens fast and immediately goes back to 4.7 or 4.6 ghz this just started happening today and today only i dont remember it happening yesterday I dont really know why this is happening this started today or i just noticed it just now? Could this be from the XMP or the DRAM Frequency changes that caused this? But i reverted the settings though. The settings are normal now though this might be because of dust? Not completely sure, And it's a Intel Stock Cooler of all things.. So i dont know if everythings right or wrong i reverted the BIOS settings. I didnt attempt no prior CPU OC's by the way. It's only sitting in at stock speed. What could be causing this? But on the otherhand, on HWiNFO its only one core and it's Core 0 that seems to be affected by this. But on HWMonitor it happens to some cores even core 0 and core 1,4,5 based on my test yesterday. But they dont happen altogether at once only each of them for a solid two seconds when doing something or not. But i didnt notice no slight stutters when it happens on the background, no lags, no fps drops, etc. Look at the minimum ghz/mhz value for each photo. The thing is i dont feel any slight delay or stutter or slowdowns when it does do the 0.78 ghz on one core. Should i be worried? https://imgur.com/U6Duz8g https://imgur.com/0D1Mbsq https://imgur.com/FuQcMjD https://imgur.com/iaLp2fd

question :-which is most important feature in GPU Brand, base or boost or memory clock speed of GTX 1660 SUPER OR GTX1080TI? I am planning new desktop PC ryzen 7 3700x or 2700x build for content creation video editing rendering graphics 3D designing architecture web designing and video streaming. for that some one advised recommended in forums GTX 1650 super or GTX 1660 super or GTx 1080ti . when I was searching to purchase some graphics card then found that different brands like gigabyte, Asus, MSI, zotac, inno3D, EVGA, Galax but found that many models of brands have different BOOSTED Base clock or boost clock or memory clock speed which one is more important in concern for video editing. As above comparison I have compared the base clock speed boost clock speed and memory clock speed which has been altered in different model of brands which I think will effect reflect in working of card which will boost in speed performance. Now queries in my mind:- Q1. Does brand Asus MSI gigabyte Zotac colourful matters while purchasing GPU in warranty services performance features component heatsink quality dies quality or any other concern which brand is good and which is not good to purchase Q2. Which Model in which brand is good as while looking to Boost in clock apeed in found generally that as in zotac AMP or PGF extreme is generally boosted in Asus Rog strix or TUF model and in gigabyte Arius or Gaming extreme and in colourful the Kundan model and in Inno3D Ichill X3 models are generally boasted in Base or boost clock speed or memory clock speed. Q3. Which clock speed Base Boost clock is good to be increase in any chipset of GPU. As I think base clock speed is minimum speed the GPU will start to work from and Boost clock is speed is maximum which a GPU can reach on load or can be overclocked to....as I think Base clock speed if increased in any model will give better performance........for example as in Zotac GTX 1880ti AMP extreme model have base clock speed 1646 MHz and boost clock speed 1759 mhz and memory clock speed 1659 mhz whereas in colourful IGame GTX 1080ti Kundan have base clock speed 1657mhz and boost clock speed in 1784Mhz and memory clock speed is 1376 MHz whereas gigabyte Arius water force extreme GTx 1080ti have base clock speed 1608mhz boost clock speed 1721 MHz and memory clock speed is 1404mhz. Q4. What is difference in memory clock speed and memory bandwidth whats clock speed and babdwidth effects in performance as GTx 1650 super memory clock speed is 1500mhz. And bandwidth is 192mbps. GTx 1660 super memory clock speed is 1750mhz -2027mhz And bandwidth is 288mbps GTx 1080 super memory clock speed is 1251mhz-1350mhz. And bandwidth is 320mbps and GTx 1080ti memory clock speed is 1376mhz- 1404 mhz And bandwidth is 484mbps Q5. What will type of VRAM in GPU DDR6 or DDR5 effect on performance of video editing rendering as 4gb 6 GB ddr6 in gtx 1660 super compared to 8gb 11gb ddr5 in GTx 1880ti Q6. As therotically base clock speed boost clock speed RAM memory size clock speed and memory bandwidth all together plays role depends on performance and speed which can be tested through benchmark or tests. Is there any website link where I can test the GPU related to video editing rendering 3d graphic designing base benchmark performance test. As I have seen but there is tests for gaming fps but not much tests for Video editing rendering applications. If any one can share the link for benchmark test for different brands to see the practical performance test. Q7. Do GPU effects in quality for video editing rendering means there any effect on quality of graphics quality or FPS while exporting converting rendering videos somewhere I readed about dropage of FPS with graphic card but no test or benchmark I found . Which parameterr feature if graphic card shaders TMU ROPs cuda cores should be most important for quality of output in video rendering export playback quality and speed. Any article benchmark kindly share the link opinions for the same tests benchmark. Q8. Any other parameter feature in your opinion should be concerned and most important to match in different brand models in content creation video editing rendering graphic 3d designing animations.like l1 l2 l3 cache..or any points. Q9. As i am novice in video editing rendering i used to do DTP graphic designing and want to learn and start with video editing skills for 4k editing as I am learning premier pro after effects 3d max AutoCAD revit as per your opinion Which GPU is good for starting learning video editing rendering nvidea or amd gtx 1650 super or gtx 1660 super or gtx 1070 or gtx 1080 or gtx 1080ti or rx590. As gtx 1080ti is ddr5 and have more 8gb or 11gb ram and more cuda cores but less base boost memory clock speed as. Compared to gtx 1650 super or gtx 1660super... I thank you and be grateful in advance for your precious time advice opinion and will be obliged for sharing your knowledge.

Every time I've updated my GPU's drivers Ive seen changes in how it behaves. Originally I was getting high utilization for stuff that didn't require high utilization, so I reinstalled the driver, everything normalized, I was getting lower utilization, of like 50-70% in a game [FPS capped to 60] and clock speeds of 1935 Mhz /1960 Mhz on my 1660 TI with the prefer max performance setting, which would use 100 / 120 watts and this is how it was continuously for several driver updates. I had updated my gpu again after using DDU and now I'm getting really low utilization, around 7%, my clock speed is only 1500 MHz (for the same game) and the power being used is only 41 watts. I thought that was odd so I tried reinstalling it once more, and it's the same thing, Is there something wrong with my GPU? It's not going into that 1935 Mhz anymore on the prefer maximum performance. In DDU I notice that it first detects my 1660 ti and then my integrated Intel HD, Should I have uninstalled that driver? I noticed this time when I tried to reinstall the driver, it auto installed as a 1660 ti after DDU. Specs CPU i7 8700 GPU : Windforce 1660 ti Asus prime h310 plus motherboard 16 gb ddr4 ram PSU 500w Storage : 3 SSD's of various sizes.

Hi, sorry if I ask any stupid questions, its my first proper build but not too experienced. I've looked for a lot of solutions but couldn't find any that worked so I thought I'd ask. I have a Ryzen 7 5800X cpu, advertised at 3.6GHz base and up to 4.8GHz boost clocks. Out of the box, it was running at 4.2GHz, at all times. Even under 100% load and under zero load. Installing Ryzen Master made no difference, despite whatever setting I chose. Even if I changed it to "Auto OC" it changed the Max clock to 4.95GHz (displayed in the software), but the actual clock speed still didnt go beyond the 4.2GHz under load. One thing to note, when I had some sort of setup applied and Ryzen Master open, under low loads some cores did drop to 3.6GHz. Chaning the TPO settings in the BIOS put it to 4.3GHz, which once again didnt change. Also changed voltage to 1.2V instead of the deafult 1.1V. I also tried enabling PBO in the BIOS as well as in Ryzen Master and it made zero difference in performance or clock speeds. I can manually change clock speeds in the BIOS, just tried 4.5GHz. It automatically put it up to 1.3V too, not sure if it is meant to automatically do that or not. Clock speeds did go to 4.5GHz, and stayed there even at idle. My setup for any info: Mobo: ROG Strix x570-F Ram: G-skill Trident Z 32GB @ 3600MHz PSU: 850W corsair psu Cooling: 280mm kraken AIO Temps definitely arent the issue. At 4.3GHz it stabilises at 65C under full load. At 4.5GHz (and the auto voltage increase) it stabilises at 71C. I have set my RAM to 3600 in the BIOS and made sure windows CPU power settings are adjusted too (10% minimum, 100% maximum). Thank you for your time, please let me know if this is normal or if you have any suggestions.

My memory appears as 0MHz in bios for some reason, recently, my system had been restarting randomly sometimes when idle sometimes when under load, completely randomly so I opened the bios and saw this. Also, when I reset the cmos and did all that hard reset procedure, the usual "American Megatrends" page came up where there was a different story going on, pictures of every screen has been attached for clarity of the issue. Don't worry about only 4 gigs of RAM popping up on the "American Megatrends" page, I had removed one stick but the same random numbers appear when I have both the RAM sticks installed. Any idea what this could be?

Hi, I've just built a new PC with the following specs: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X Nvidia GTX 1070 NZXT X52 240mm AIO 32GB RAM When I am at idle state, I see the CPU fluctuating between temperatures from 43 to 60 dC also I've noticed the CPU clock goes all the way upto 4940 MHz and stays at it for some time although the manufacturer data says it's boost clock is only 4.8 GHz. Is this normal or not? Thanks

I dont know if this is an issue or not but every 1-2 seconds on a balanced power plan my cpu jumps to turbo speed. changing maximum processor state to 99 percent makes the same thing happen but instead it just keeps jumping to base clock speed rather than the turbo clock speed. So when it's enabled every couple of seconds it jumps to 4.28 and when disabled the base clock speed. This occurs even when Im just looking at my desktop and all I have open is this HWinfo64 to check it. It's an i7-8700(non-k) Is it normal to constantly jump up like this?

Hello, I have a I5 7400 that should run at 3.0GHz base but instead runs at 2.2Ghz max even while playing warzone. I tried using the max perfomance power plan and checked everything cpu related was at 100%, I also changed the core voltage from 0.804V as shown in the pic (was set to auto in the motherboard) to 1.2v and got no extra perfomance CPU is running at 50º while gaming Specs: CPU: I5 7400 Motherboard: gigabyte b250m gaming 5 GPU: GTX 1060 3GB RAM: 1x16gb 3200mhz(XMP) PSU: 430w 80 plus bronze

GPU: MSI Gaming X 1080ti (in the second PCIe slot because the top one is dead as far as I can tell) CPU: 6700K @ stock (has been OC'd at 4.7 for a while but I turned it off to troubleshoot) 32GB memory @ 2666MHz Motherboard is an MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon Monitor is 3440x1440 (Acer Predator X34 w GSYNC) PSU is a Corsair CS750M 80+ gold Nvidia drivers are v457.09 Was having some crashes and sporadic severe fps drops before, thought I'd fixed them (I reseated the GPU in its slot, moved the 8pin to 2x8pin to a different port on the PSU, and increased the mounting pressure on the CPU). None of these issues have reappeared but now I'm getting the problem described in the title. Most of my games run at a high fps but the input feels choppy. Total War: Warhammer 2 runs at 20fps in the overview and 6 in battles (approximately 1/3 and 1/8 of the expected performance, respectively). I've seen core clocks drop as low as 139MHz (compared to the normal boost of ~1950) Temps are fine, PSU doesn't even get warm, GPU temps sit at around ~60C on the default stealth fan curve and drop down to ~40 with a custom curve which spins them up earlier and higher. CPU temps are similarly fine. It shouldn't be thermal throttling, and the spikes I'm seeing aren't typical of thermal throttling anyway.\ What the heck is going on?

I have a hp pavilion notebook laptop it comes with i5 8th gen processor 8300H with 2.30 ghz base clock speed recently i was looking into my task manager of my laptop and i notice a weird clock speed going up high up to 4ghz and the cpu utilization is low like 2% (while it is connected for charging or AC power) but when it not connected to charging or (not connected to AC power) the clock speed comes down to normal according to it's utilization. I have restore the power management of my laptop.

Hey! So I have a Ryzen 3 1200 paired with an A320 motherboard (I know, I know, but I was on a super tight budget to upgrade from my dual core) and for some reason my cpu just refuses to go to the advertised 3.4 boost clock. Even when it’s at 100% it won’t go above 3.1. I know the a320 chipset doesn’t support overclocking but that doesn’t affect boost clock does it? Just hoping to get a bit more performance I guess

I have 4 idential RAM sticks in my system, the only difference being the color of the heat spreader with (2 set bought at the same time in the same set. CMK16GX4M2B3000C15). When I have them all installed I get memory errors (Prime95) but when I just install 2 DIMMs at a time I have no errors. The fact that they independently work with no errors tells me that there are not hardware problems, but I cant figure out why when I have them all installed I do have problems. I do have the clock speed and timings dialed back to 2666, 16-18-18-35 and 1.4v in the 4 DIMM configuration. Do I need to lower the speed or loosen the timings more? Hello guys! I have recently found an issue with my CPU. The clock speed was stuck at it's minimum (2.8 GHz) and nothing could change it. Managed to deal with this by reinstalling the OS using the media creation tool and now the problem is partially gone. Now, the clock speeds are seemingly stuck to the ratio, compared to before when it would fluctuate based on CPU strain. Also, even if I select the maximum ratio allowed in MSI Command Center (3.4 GHz), the CPU is stuck at 3.2 GHz.

I bought these yesterday as an upgrade from my exceleram 2x2GB modules that worked at 1333MHz: They work fine, but in the uefi the memory frequency shows up as 1065.14MHz. Shouldn't it appear as ≈2000MHz? Here are some uefi screenshots: I tried loading optimized defaults, but it remains the same. The motherboard is Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H.

This question is asked millions of times on the internet but I don't know who to trust! According to puget systems, "The number of cores, memory size/type/speed, and overall architecture plays an important role as well. However, with all other things being equal, a higher clock speed card will always be faster than a lower clock speed card. The downside to a higher core speed is that the higher it is, the more power (and thus heat) is required." but when I research further people say it doesn't matter and just look at benchmarks or something like that.
