Hi all, This morning, I was trying some undervolting on my Ryzen 3600XT when my PC crashed. No big deal, I thought, this has happened to me multiple times after going a little bit too hard on the overclock. So I tried to reboot the system, which didnt work so I cleared cmos. I logged into Windows to make sure everything was still working, and it was. Then, I went back into BIOS to go back to my last stable settings, but after leaving BIOS my PC wouldn't ouput any screen and my mouse and keyboard didn't light up anymore. There is fan spin at this point, so I was like: 'Uhm, I'll just clear cmos once more?' Now everytime I exit BIOS, even without changing any settings after clearing cmos, the same problem occurs: fan spin, lights inside PC work, but no screen, keyboard or mouse. If I don't enter BIOS after clearing cmos the system works perfectly fine and I can do whatever, but every single time I exit BIOS, the system locks up. I have already tried the two solutions that these people at tomshardware gave: replacing battery and removing Ryzen Master, but it did not help. https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/pc-doesnt-restart-boot-after-exiting-bios.3565610/ Can anybody help? Recently I enabled Secure boot on my b450m ds3h intel MOBO through the bios and now my Computer will turn on and of (maybe because I removed my RAM) and it also Just will not post. I really need help, some videos say to Take out my CMOS for a few then put it back in. Any ideas or past experience with this problem.

Hey guys, I need some new input. Well, the title is pretty self-explanatory. My PC wouldn't start, it turns on and shuts off immediately. What happened the night before: for some reason arch linux went sleep and I couldn't wake it up so I kill-switched it with PSU on-off switch (don't think that's the cause or is it?), so the morning I push the start button and voila, it won't start. PSU makes a "click" sound, Q code shows 00 and the it shuts down. Narrowed down to 3 parts: MOBO, CPU and RAM. Everything else is literally unplugged. The PSU tested on my other PC, works just fine. Visually inspected MOBO, looks normal. No smell. Checked for loose cables. SPECS: ASUS ROG STRIX X299-E GAMING Intel i9 7900x GSKILL 8*8GB Trident Z RGB 3200Mhz 850 EVGA G3 GOLD SOLVED What I did was remove the CMOS battery and followed the "Clear RTC RAM" instructions.

Hello! I'm working on restoring an old 486-based machine and have been running into some issues. Maybe someone here can chime in. So the computer is an AT&T Globalyst 515. It's sporting an Intel Overdrive 83MHz Socket 3 CPU, and the motherboard model is apparently a rather nondescript "E77755". I kept getting an error message saying "Press F1 to enter setup", and my initial googling suggested that I'd better replace the CMOS battery. Fair enough, that's a quick fix. Still, I kept getting the message after replacing the battery, which lead me to start disconnecting things like harddrive, floppy drive and all other peripherals I could find. Nothing much changed after this. I managed to source the schematics of the board, and noticed that the onboard switch (SW1) makes it possible for the user to enable or disable onboard VGA. From what I can recall it was enabled already, but I thought it couldn't hurt to fiddle around with the different options to see if it made a difference. When even this didn't produce a desirable result I thought I'd try to clear CMOS in order to "start anew". Now here's when it gets interesting. Little old me thought it was just a matter of moving the jumper, boot, turn the machine off and re-seat the jumper again. When I booted with the jumper set to clear CMOS the machine beeped four times. After moving the jumper back again there was still no image, and I'm starting to have the creeping suspicion that I might've botched the board in some way because of this. That said, the system seems to boot just fine afterwards. Meaning, the CPU fan spins up and I can hear the HDD working. I even get the regular ol' beep that I presume is the same I got when I first got the "Press F1 to enter setup"-prompt. But alas, no picture. Nothing. I even tried replacing the LCD with an older CRT, but it makes sense that this shouldn't matter. So my big question now is – Did I kill the motherboard? To me it doesn't seem like it, but given that I can't get anything out of the VGA port I can't help but fear the worst. My biggest assumption per now is that clearing the CMOS has caused the onboard VGA to be disabled, so I should definitely see if I can find a VGA ISA card and double check if I can get a picture from that one. But again, like I said, I'm also worried that booting with the jumper in the "wrong" place has somehow shorted some of the circuits. So what's your verdict? Should I throw the board in the thrash and stop wasting my time, or is there hope? Thoughts and prayers.

I have a completed build: Windows 10 OS X99 Deluxe i7 5960X So here is my problem. The computer won't boot when I hit the power button. There is a periodic clicking noise if I hit the power button which I believe is the PSU trying to start. There doesn't seem to be a problem with my PSU though, because when I hold down the clear cmos button the computer will take me to a screen that says I need to enter BIOS to configure a raid setup (which I am not trying to do in this build). So after I enter BIOS I manually select my boot drive and windows starts and everything is fine. I can hit the reset button and the computer will start up fine again. I can also hit the power down button and it will power down fine. The problem occurs again after I hit the power button and try to boot up the pc. Then you can read from the beginning of the paragraph because the exact same issue is found. Any help is appreciated.

okay so here is my problem, if i put my pc manually into sleepmode it WILL NOT come out of it unless i flip the power switch off and on and press the powerbutton. not a problem i can do that all day. just now my pc did exactly the same so i thought: sigh again? so i proceeded to kill the power, turn on the power and press the powerbutton. but now the powerbutton did not seem to turn on my pc. so i realised this is what happend a month ago when my power died (shortcut somewhere in house not my pc). so i checked to make sure everything was connected, it was, then checked if my psu died on me (paperclip test) , it did not die on me, then i removed the battery hoping that would fix it, it sadly didnt (removed battery, went to play some guitar hero then put battery back in so i dont know howlong it was out). i then started doing research on a jumper bios reset because my pc repair guy said that was the fix last time, so i looked where it was, viewed a few videos, searched a jumper from an old motherboard and did as was told, remove all power sources, put on jumper, plug power back in, press powerbutton, wait 1-2 minutes, unplug power, remove jumper, plug power back in, and try to boot. and sadly it did not work. so i could really use some help. specs: mobo: gigabyte 990fxa ud3 cpu: amd fx 8350 (was overclocked to 4.5) gpu: gtx 780 windforce (was overclocked with linus findings) psu: cx750m 750watt corsair windows 8 64 bit (legit) RAM: 16GB of geil dragonforce ram 1600 bios version: i would have no clue, dual uefi bios if i recall correctly, i cant really check atm...... if i missed a few specs that are needed just let me know, i cant think of anything worth noting.

I bought this off of a friend and he locked the bios with an administrator password. He doesn't remember the password. Is there anyway to reset it?
