OS: Windows 11 Home version 21H2 build 22000.2538 MB: X570 Aorus Elite Bios version: F38h (latest version as of today) CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor RAM: 2 sticks of G Skill Intl F4-3600C18-8GTZRX 8GB in slots 2 and 4 GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER GAMING OC 8G PSU: Bequiet Straight Power 11 750W Previous SSD: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB New SSD: WD_BLACK SSD SN850X 2TB Good evening, I'm creating this topic as a last hope to fix my issue. Thank you for your time. Dearly, C. Goal: Have a fresh install of Windows 11 Home on my new nvme SSD. Tools: Windows 11 Installation Assistant from this page of the official website. I am using a 32 GB Phillips USB flash drive as bootable device. Issue: After going through Windows Setup once and the PC restarts, there is no bootable device aside of my flash drive. Windows Boot Manager on the new SSD is not detected. Note that the old SSD is not connected during the whole installation process. Also, note that the new SSD can currently correctly be used as a storage drive: it is functioning. I have also installed the latest firmware on it. What has been tried so far... (I might have missed a few things, I read and tried so many things) Concerning the installation tool: (note that I have used this USB flash drive for all my previous Windows installation, last one being earlier this week) Using Reset this PC functionnality from Windows 11. Downloading the ISO file and dumping it: Using file explorer. Using Rufus. Using Windows 11 Installation Assistant on a different system to create the bootable device. Clone my old SSD onto my new SSD using balenaEtcher 1.18.11. Concerning the format of the new SSD: Made sure the disk has the GPT standard. Made sure I have a FAT-formatted partition which act as an EFI System Partition in order to be a UEFI disk. Concerning the BIOS: Installed the latest version. Disabled CSM. Disabled Secure Boot. Concerning the Repair Boot Configuration: After installing windows, booted back onto the USB flash drive but selecting Repair your computer. Opened a command prompt: When first checking bootrec /rebuildbcd, there was no identified Windows installations. diskpart: sel vol 2 assign letter=z exit bcdedit /export c:\bcdbackup attrib z:\efi\microsoft\boot\bcd -h -r -s ren z:\efi\microsoft\boot\bcd bcd.old At that point, bootrec /rebuildbcd returns 1 identified installation, but nothing has changed when rebooting. Screenshots: The output of bcdedit shows that the Windows Boot Manager exists The front page of the BIOS with No Bootable Device Found. The boot menu of the BIOS.
  2. Good day to everyone! I recently reinstaled windows on my pc and laptop, and i did a lot of reinstalations in the past on different pc's. Now, as many might know, reinstalling windows and instaling every program and files on your pc can be frustrating, and apart from that sometimes a clean instalation of windows may cause different problems for unknown reasons. So any time i reinstall windows, i usually remember the files and reinstall anything necesarry. Then, after reinstalation i use "restoro" to check the system stability and repair it if needed, as well as make a save point of the system after i instaled everything properly. However, i have a lot of software and files that i am using in everyday to day life. I have an external drive that i copy all the files that i need usually, but that doesnt mean that the reinstalation is not frustrating in some cases, especially if i have 2 pc's. Therefore i tried to find a solution for this problem. Now, i have 2 pc's, one of which is a custom build one in Ghost s1 case, and the other is a MSI prestige laptop. So if i to backup my pc's in any way, i have a few options avaliable: MSI laptop has a software called MSI system image recovery, which copies the files to an external usb or any drive, CD, or via internet. But what it actually makes is a recovery drive, which means it is essentially a boot usb drive with windows 10 on it. This provides a clean instalation of windows using a usb drive if the system fails in the future. The other options that are included in windows, and it goes for both of my pc's, are: 1) Archive system in windows settings that copies the personal files on to a drive 2) System recovery tool that is esentially the same thing as MSI system image recovery 3) Disk image, which is a tool that copies your entire drive, in order to recover it if something goes wrong Considering all these factors, the best option for me would be a creation of disk image after a clean windows reinstalation, so any time, if my system fails, i can get the drive and restore my system to a fresh start with everything needed saved. As if nothing happend. This is a convinient way of reinstaling windows, so you dont have to worry about reinstaling programs, software, drivers, etc. But! there are some dificulties with all these plans. The disk image cannot be backed up on a usb, i have no idea why, although in a lot of tutorials there is a way to back up on a usb. it didnt work for me. therefore i could have used an external program, but all of them are rubish considering you need to pay or they need to be installed at all times, etc. So the main questions are: 1) Is there a way to completely copy your pc? so that in case your system dies or malfunctions, you can reboot and restore your pc to its original state with clean windows, all your personal files, drivers, software etc, considering that your copy is in perfect condition 2) Using a old software "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)" in the control panel, you can create a disk image. However, some tutorials show that it can be created on a usb with enough capacity using NTFS format. but it didnt work for me, it only shows that "cannot back up to this external drive" (there was enough capacity on a usb, and it was formated in NTFS, but no luck) is there a way? 3) If a usb doesnt work, i have an external 2TB hard drive, but i have 300GB of files there, will it be a good idea to back up there? will the disk be formated? 4) If the only way to create a system image is through a hard drive can i save 2 system images? one from my laptop, and one from my pc? If there are alternatives to reinstaling clean windows with drivers, files, softwares, tools etc, please let me know, all that i found was this information. Thank you very much for your patience, i appretiate your help.
  3. Browser, version and OS: Modded Windows 10 Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened? Not sure What happened? I received a computer with windows 10 installed, but the computer doesn't support windows 10. It was modified for this system since Windows 10 was never meant for this computer. It is the Aurora R3. It has been acting glitchy after a couple of weeks and eventually it shuts down when doing light things such as browsing the web. I just need a windows 7 system clean backup to install on my computer to go back so the shutdowns don't occur again. Screenshots of the issue, if applicable: I don't have any Any other relevant details: Screen starts to flicker and my mouse cursor stops moving. If anyone has a clean windows 7 system backup I can use to help restore my computer, not sure how to uninstall the windows 10 from this computer. p.s made this account for some help for this reason
  4. I have an Asus X509FJ which came preinstalled with windows 10 home edition I want to do a clean reinstallation of windows 10 on this laptop as i am facing a lot of BSODs while playing games....randomly screen goes blank...pc feels sluggish despite having an SSD... its been an year and my laptop is out of warranty period So if i reinstall windows 10 on this laptop...will i be able to activate windows with the same key i had before...the one which came with the laptop? or will that key be invalid? if i wont be able to use that key again....i would take it to the shop...else i would do it on my own saving around 20$ for the installation fee can i note down the current key and type it again while reinstalling it? both my parents would be out tomorrow....i can do a reinstallation at peace without any disturbance
  5. Warning: Long post ahead. So I’ve got a new NVME drive for my system to replace my almost full 256 sata ssd. Most of my programs and files are located on a separate HD and another sata ssd (the HDD and the System Drive are dynamic disks for some reason). Before trying to install Windows onto the new NVME drive, I disconnected the system drive in case I’ll screw up the installation. Booting up from my usb stick, the installation went fine, after leaving for about a minute I’ve seen a message on screen that I have two OSs installed. Not knowing which one is the new drive, it went for the first option by itself, and it failed to boot. Having no time to deal with it, after tinkering with it for a while I decided to revert back. I replugged the system drive and changed boot priority. When I booted back my HDD was missing, and I’ve ended up spending half an hour to get it back. So my question is, what is the correct way to install windows on the new NVME drive while not screwing up the data on the other drives? I have no idea if it matters but the HDD and the System Drive are dynamic disks for some reason, and as far as I know I don’t have any raid setup. I’ve seen this topic about transferring HDDs to a different PC should I do that before reinstalling? I’ll be very thankful if someone can provide me with a step by step way to do this correctly, Incl. when to change boot priority if possible. The current state of Disk Manager sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance.
  6. My PC specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x GPU: 3080 strix lhr Motherboard: NZXT N7 B550 Ram: Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600MHz PSU: Corsair 850W Am a very early adopter of Windows 11 and I participated in windows test builds since it has been released in the dev channel. On Win 11 offical release I made a clean install and got the latest stable win 11 build. I got no issues until a few weeks ago. Am not entirely sure, but I think it started 1 or a half week before the L3 AMD Cache patch came out. Since then I experienced limited/locked FPS in a few games: Valorant: before 300+ fps | after 60-90 fps Fortnite: Before 150 fps | after 10-30fps Apex Legends: Before 150fps | after 10-20 fps (already in menu) Any game breaks. Even a YouTube Video shutters when watching it while having a game open. A simple workaround was restarting the PC which recovers the performance immediately. But this stopped working a few days ago. Now I need to completely reinstall my NVIDIA drivers to temporary fix it. After a restart it breaks again.
  7. Hello, I need to clean install Windows 11 but I want all the programs and software installed back to my pc, so is there a way to backup all the software and programs without os files and restore back as it was before without losing data of all the programs and software? Please Help (Googled it and didn't find any ans)
  8. My Radeon RX 5600 XT suddenly started to thermal throttle, the first time it happen was right after I switched from a sata ssd to an m.2 drive. I reinstalled windows on the m.2 drive and ever since my gpu has been thermal throttling. It does it in every game, even in non gpu heavy games like rocket league. It never happened in any game while I used the m.2 drive. Does anybody have a clue why this is suddenly happening? I have installed the latest drivers, BIOS, windows updates, other updates even did a CMOS reset. My spec: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X Radeon RX 5600 XT 16GB ram at 3000mhz ASUS TUF Gaming B450m-plus motherboard Be quiet! 650Watt powersupply 80 plus bronze rated I also don't oc anything and have stock cooling. Latest throttle in my latest session:
  9. Hello everybody, I hope you're ready for a right doozy because I've got myself into a right pickle The other day I decided to factory reset my PC for various reasons, regardless I tried to factory reset my PC through the Windows 11 Settings app, choosing the option to clear everything. It then went through the expected process of rebooting but something went wrong, though I have no idea what because it didn't provide an error codes that I am aware of. Upon rebooting my PC, it now loads the Windows lock screen where it has my one and only user listed creatively named 'Matthew Bowker' after yours truly. However, it no longer has a profile picture and when I try to login with my password which it recognises, I get the follow error: 'The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded.' As it is the only administrator account and no other user accounts existed on this PC prior to resetting it, I would imagine there is no other way of accessing Windows? Or creating another user, even a temporary one, from the lock screen? That's the first issue. The second issue is that I seem to be unable to load any boot drives. Normally in this sort of situation I would mumble 'ffs' under my breath, grab my nearest secondary computer and create a new Windows boot drive to do a clean Windows install, but not today. I've now made 4-5 boot drives with different USB sticks and versions of Windows, through various services such as the Mac Terminal, Boot Camp Assistant and Rufus to absolutely zero joy, of any kind. Each time when hitting f12 on boot and choosing the inserted USB drive, I'm met with a black screen with a white flashing underscroll in the top left corner. From my research this very helpful and informative error code which means your drive is borked, but because I've tried multiple drives at this point, I'm getting the impression it's not my drive that's stuffed, but in fact I am stuffed. All I want to do is reset my computer with a clean install of Windows, download Deep Rock and shoot some monsters on space rocks whilst playing a Dwarfs! If anyone is able to help I would be very grateful! I also apologise for my poor sense of humour, I'm at the point where I will have to laugh otherwise I will smash my keyboard over my monitor. Thanks in advance, Matt

My specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x MOBO: Aorus B450 Pro WiFi RAM: 2x8gb TridentZ G.Skill RGB 3200 mhz working at default bios settings (2133mhz) GPU: MSI GT 710 STORAGE: ADATA XPG SX8200 SSD NVMe M.2 512GB PSU: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze OS: the latest Windows 10 Pro This a PC I used at job, It's been working fine for 3 years until. This PC is now asigned for other person so they asked for a clean windows 10 system on it. When trying to install a clean OS, I was getting constants crashes and bsods after windows is 4% on preparing files. Tired of that, I installed the clean windows 10 in another PC with exact same specs. It worked fine and system was stable. Then took the SSD back to this PC. The system starts and I can do things for 1 or 2 minutes and then crash. It shows a bsod with no text on it, no dump files were generated. Or it just crash very fast that makes it look like an instant reboot. I cleaned BIOS by resetting it (remove battery process), not helped I updated BIOS to the last version (from F60 to F63d), not helped. I replaced the RAM with others from a working PC, not helped. I replaced the GPU with GT1030 from another working PC, not helped. Full cleaned the PC, changed even thermal paste, I thought it was over heating but still crashing. (I checked the temps with ryzen master before crash, it didnt get over 65°c) The SSD with this clean windows 10 works fine on any other PC but not in this one. BUT It runs stable if I run it on safe mode. Right now I'm making this post on safe mode with internet, and it doesn't crash anymore. But If I go back to a normal boot with all windows services, it crashes. As I said, there's no dump files generated after crashing, The dump folder I set is empty. EDIT: started a normal boot and got a BSOD: driver_irql_not_less_or_equal. Got a dump file (1.53Mb): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iuRdcP1XSifjioqExjIfMeUpsAxYZ2fc/view
  11. Hello, I have a strange problem and hope someone can help. I have an old Toshiba laptop. Spec: Intel® Core i3-2330M nVidia 315M 1GB 4GB RAM 500GB 5400RPM spinner drive I installed Win10 Home on it. Downloaded the Media Creation Tool and created the bootable USB. Did a clean install. It all went well. I'm actually staring at the laptop now sitting there happily with the Win10 Home desktop. Everything works so well. Until I do one of these two things: Run Windows update Go to the user account settings (to change the name of my windows login etc.) Within a fraction of a second of doing one of the above the laptop turns itself off. When I restart it gets to the login screen and turns off again. Theres no escape from this cycle except a clean install again. None of the repair functions work (safe mode etc) This is the 3rd time I have done the clean install with the USB. As long as I dont do any of the above it can sit there happily on the Win10 desktop all week without blinking. Needless to say this is not going to work, i need the updates. I have installed W10 on numerous old laptops some even less powerful than this one and they run just fine. I do hear a click when it turns itself off if that means anything. Once again it all goes south only if I do one of those two things. Thanks for any ideas.
  12. I cant update windows 10 or restart it. First, I'm trying to do a clean install of windows 10, but it won't let me. I've tried both doing a local and cloud reinstall. Both don't work, tells me something went wrong. Then I tried to update windows 10 and it won't let me. It keeps giving me error code 0x800700c1. I even tried manually installing the update through the installer from online. Didn't work. I'm not sure what to do, I don't really want to keep anything on the computer i just want a clean install.
  13. So I'm planning on buying a new PCIe NVMe SSD for my PC which currently just has one traditional SSD for storage. My system has been getting a little buggy as of late so I've decided I want to also reset windows completely (including deleting all files), and this would ofc make sense to do now since I want the OS on the NVMe SSD anyway. I'd consider myself at least somewhat technically proficient but I do not have all that much experience in partitioning and disk/OS setup etc so I have a couple questions. First off how should I approach the windows installation process for the new drive? Can I just install it using the installation media I have from when I originally bought the license and can I still activate windows using the same key I've already technically used once? Also, at what point and how would I go about wiping the old SSD completely for use as a secondary drive? Would I just plug it into the new system and use a tool inside windows or what is the best approach?
  14. Hi all! I recently decided to upgrade my system - not to anything earth shattering, but hopefully to allow me to play some decent games on 1080p with high FPS. System build is: Gigabyte B450M DS3H motherboard - F50 Bios version (updated to support 3rd Gen Ryzen) Ryzen 3 3300x Asus Arez RX580 8GB Cooler Master 500W PSU 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance CMK16GX4M2A2133C13 Samsung 840EVO 120GB SSD Installed in a BitFenix Prodigy M Everything is brand new except the RAM which I bought second hand and the SSD which I am bringing over from my old system. I got everything installed and put the drive in from my old machine and it booted into Windows first time, but as I wanted a nice clean install I decided to reinstall Windows using the USB boot option for Windows 10 install. Installation program loads, I choose the version and drive location then start. It gets to somewhere between 5%-30% of the second step ("Getting files ready for installation") and then I get a BSOD. The error I was getting most of the time was "MEMORY MANAGEMENT". I tried a different SSD - PNY CS900 240GB brand new which I had bought for another project, but still got the same error. I thought it was the RAM, but have run memtest86 on both sticks individually and find no errors. I tried installing Windows from a different USB stick, but still getting the same error. I tried underclocking the RAM (getting desperate!) and this time got a "CACHE MANAGEMENT" error. The BIOS was already at the latest version (F50) so I tried rolling back to the previous version (F42h) but this time got a "PFN LIST CORRUPT" BSOD error. Updated to the latest BIOS again (F50) and am now getting "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL". Next step is to return the motherboard-CPU bundle I bought and hope that a replacement fixes this, but would rather just get this sorted if possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! This is beyond me to know what to try next! Thank you!!
  15. I'm doing a fresh restart with my computer system, aiming to wipe my hard drive completely and then install the os on my new ssd and boot from that. Any good tips how to wipe the drive? Thanks.
  16. I just got a 240 GB SSD, and went to do a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64 on it. I formatted it and deleted the partitions and created a 50GB one for Windows, because that was what people were saying it would be, and I created a new partition for the rest. Then it goes through updates and whatnot, initializing. I checked it out, and over 197Gb were used JUST by system files. I had 20-30 GB left on the drive. Did windows mess up, or is that the actual size of the latest windows update? How can I shrink this with a clean install?
  17. OK so, I'm planning on wiping my drive after almost 4 years, and doing a clean Windows 10 install. Since it's been so long since the last time I did this, and never for Windows 10, I'm wondering if there's any particular order for driver install I should follow, and which extra drivers I should definitely install. I'm particularly curious about Intel's RST drivers, which for some reason I don't even recall anymore were recommended way back, as well as the Intel chipset drivers. Should I install either of those, and Is there any benefit to using pre-install versions where applicable? Any tips would be appreciated
  18. I have an Asus G752 laptop the 970m version (the link below will take you to the laptops web page). I ordered 2 Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2 ssd's to be inserted in my laptop;I also forgot to mention that I have Bios 216 which means I do have the patch for raid 0 configuration. I have been looking across the internet for a couple of hours now and I have not really found a good guide, so I figured I would turn to inter-webs for support. Hope that peps can help. 19. I just formatted my PC, It is an OEM key. I had a couple of issues that I could not solve normaly therefoe i decided to have a full format and a clean install. I have succesfuly formated the pc but now I can't connect to the Ethernet at all, and I dont have an wireless adapter. The PC see the network as an Unidentified network and it is stopping me from connecting to the internet. Any help or solutions would be appreciated. Thanks. I already tried to disconect and connect the cable on both ends. I also re formatted the pc.
  20. Pardon the noob question, please bear with me. as I've no experience with UEFI Boot / Windows etc. Only till recently I've move to Windows 10. So I'm changing a new Mobo, I'm planning to do a PROPER and CLEAN install of Windows 10 again to avoid any compatibility issues. When I wanted to Format my SSD which is the OS installed. I notice there are 3 Partitions which I didn't make. One was the SSD itself, another is System Reserved I believe, around 100MB ( Couldn't remember exactly ) another I think it's for the UEFI which is about 450MB So I was wondering, what should I do. Do I Delete all the Partitions or do I just Format all three of them and Re-Install Windows ?? ( I have my HDD disconnected while doing Windows install to avoid OS installing the Boot files into the HDD like my previous system....seriously FKed up there )
  21. So I built my PC back in may and didn't have a windows 10 license at the time. I recently got a Windows 10 Pro OEM key to activate my PC, only to realize that OEM keys need to be used on the first install of windows 10 on the computer. If I reinstall Windows 10 as a fresh install will my drives need to be re-partitioned / reformatted? -> TO CLARIFY: It's as if I am putting the HDD into a new machine while the SSD is getting windows 10 installed on it(in a new machine). Does this mean I will lose all access to files that were previously on the HDD?

    Clean Install

So my friend is getting himself a gaming laptop and he asked if you could get rid of bloatware through a clean install however I don't know whether you need to buy a new activation key for a clean install. Pls. Help Thanks also if he does a clean install will Word and other important programs be deleted?
  24. I have my windows product key, and I want to clean install windows 10 onto my new SSD. My SSD has roughly 650Gb of stuff on it, because I tried to clone earlier from my HDD and it didn't work. Does my SSD need to be empty before clean installing? If so, how would I delete everything on my SSD?
  25. I have a decently built PC I use for light gaming. I don't play too many resource demanding games which is what has me in a pickle. When running two or three programs at a time (ex. Spotify, Discord, LoL) my computer experiences a sort of "freeze". Music still plays and I can still talk to my friends on discord, however, i can't tab out and all my windows are frozen (this doesn't just happen when gaming). I immediately hit ctrl alt del because this usually acts as an indication as to when the computer is "defrosted" as in i can use it again. I open task manager and always see the CPU usage spiked up to 100 when the computer was frozen. This happened before my clean install. I figured I may have a virus so I made a boot drive and formatted both my SSD and HDD. I went through the steps and reinstalled Win 10 from my USB drive yet the problem persists. My thought is either my CPU or my motherboard has taken a crap on me. I'm leaning towards my motherboard because usually when these freezes happen, my wireless network adapter that is connected via USB resets as well. (I have selective USB suspension disabled in power settings as well as performance mode active). Here are my specs: Operating System Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU AMD FX-6300 30 °C Vishera 32nm Technology RAM 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 937MHz (10-11-10-30) Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co.
