Hi everyone need enlightenment here. I have 1 XenServer server, without any GPU. is it possible to use consumer or low end quadro on that server? will it atleast improve the performance? since i think the guest OS, using the CPU and memory of the server for their graphics need. I have some unused Quadro 600, K620 and AMD R9 200. will it need driver, or will it just run automatically? since i have more than one quadro 600, can i use 2 card on the server? if i do will it be better too?

PREFACE: Microsoft teams is awful, and I wish we didn't have to use it, but here we are and I need to get to the bottom of this. Everyone's pissy about teams never working for them, so they all just use the web client for the time being. However, our endgoal is to have the application working flawlessly. And due to not running a fully persistent setup, proxy settings, white/blacklists for websites, outright security policies, Azure itself, we can't figure out what the root of our problem is with so many symptoms. CURRENT ACTION: As of the moment, we have implemented a script that purges all files that are not in a folder (out of seeing errors with "desktop-config.json" "preauth.json" "settings.json" "storage.json" at multiple points in the logs) within \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams. The folder is being synced by FSLogix, our main idea being that we want the Thin Clients to store userdata and files on our servers instead. However, This event happens before the system shuts down for the night, making teams effectivley launch as if it was the first time it's launched every day. This method has solved around 80% of the cases we have experienced, preventing them before they happen. The other action we are currently taking is manually going and running a script to purge the files similar to the nightly purge. This is done system by system, user by user, and cannot continue if we want to get things done in our department. The files that are currently wiped is attached in the photo. MOVING FORWARD: I am likely not able to share log files from teams, but my list of running theories starts here from them: WAM fails to log in the user, sets "WAM fallback error" to true, and then sets itself to use ADAL, only occasionally launching the app. Not sure if this correlates specifically with our firewall, but I don't believe it's likely. The error code produced is almost always "80070003", which I have not managed to find documentation for. Note: I am obviously at my job and wouldn't be playing with software and virtualization like this otherwise. It might be a moment before I reply, and keep in mind I am not going to be able to share a good bit of information about the issue as it's not my issue to disclose the company is facing. Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to set up Citrix. From what I've read I need a beefy server to host the VMs, files, etc., and a thin/zero client (such as these: PowerSpec ). I install Xenserver into the server and create VM instances from there but how do I access them from the thin client. It all seems a little confusing to me and the Citrix documentation is kind of ambiguous. The goal is to have around 10 clients while having all files and folders centralized in the server, also having the possibility of expansion. Can anyone chime in on this? Edit: also what about licencing Windows and Office software for this? Using a licence server? and what kind of licencing? Thanks.

Background for context: I'm creating this topic to find what you guys think of these three operating systems and what the pros/cons of each are. That and I'm trying to come to the best conclusion as to what os i should use for the sole purpose of having a host for PCI-Passthrough for the guest VM's to have. I have enough money to get UnRaid OS (basic) if I really have to, and I say this because in my experience with using linux, I did all the steps necessary to get it working and not only that but i also made sure that all hardware in my server are in separate IOMMU groups (which they are, every last part are and no ACS override patch is necessary.) What bugs me the most is that after following all necessary steps to get it working, it always fails one way or another. The only distro that i know of that worked without spitting out errors to my face is Manjaro. But, there in lies another issue: OVMF Tianocore firmware not recognized by libvirt gui, and within the software library gui i had it installed and restarted my server and yet it still didn't recognize that it was included. That is unless my particular build of Manjaro is buggy then fair enough. But, until I can find out about it with manual testing (I don't have physical access to it for now because it is located at my father's house and the drive is a long way's away. There's a good reason for it, I don't trust my step family with my computer. period. And my father is FAR from computer illiterate and knows which is which. Moving on..) i will have to plan ahead and make sure that i can go with the best option and if necessary, i will buy just to get PCI Passthrough working. From reading a couple of forums, OpenSuse, Arch, CentOS and Gentoo are arguably the ones that are well-suited to have run as the host for having these vms. OpenSuse caught my eye in particular due to having a gui desktop, and the kernel(s) (if I'm not mistaken, otherwise please correct me) are pre-configured for this type of virtualization application. And the command line scheme is familiar to me because i am used to the "apt-get" style that i learned from ubuntu originally when i first began using linux. Speaking of that, why does manjaro have to have a confusing command scheme? Instead of "apt-get" its "pamac" or something else. I get that linux can be open source and the command variable schemes can be different but dang is it confusing the hell out of me. XP Anyway, that aside I don't mind getting my hands dirty to get PCI passthrough working just as long as it works, otherwise my genetically coded stubbornness thanks to my scotch-irishness will make me continue until insanity comes around to making it work. So, what i know so far already are: i.) Citrix XenServer is Windows-centric (i.e., requires the server management console software to be run on a windows system in order to create vms, etc. Note that there's an open source version of this said software for linux available.) ii.) in order to get vmware esxi i would have to put in a lot of info before i can buy a license or let alone download a free version of the said hypervisor software. iii.) In order to get to download XenServer hypervisor, i must create an account and i'll be able to download it for free or buy a license to get more features. (Makes sense if i have to do that so I can add the licensed vers. to my account's shopping cart to purchase, fair enough.) iv.) unraid requires that you get a trial key or a key that allows you to use it full time (basic, pro, etc.) made by purchasing a key. So, is there any info at this point that needs to be corrected? If so, please correct me. Use Case moving forward: In my head, i would have a host that i can get access to in order to create and spin up a vm so that i can not only run it as a server for my windows machine to play games but as well as a hackintosh rendering station for content creation (non-commercial; private use at home.) and finally have it serve up some media for my kodi/plex clients and be a general-purpose file server. Final Conclusion: So, in terms of: i.) ease to setup a vm with a pci host device passed through to guest machine without too much difficulty (i.e., the manjaro example where the ovmf firmware wasn't detected after installation of package.) ii.) ease to obtain an .iso. iii.) ease to setup the packages required to host vms (libvirt, qemu, ovmf, etc.) iv.) less prone to errors when passing through a host device to a vm (note: while all devices are in completely separate iommu groups.) So, in your experience or opinion, which distro mentioned here is best for this application?

Hello, I have a dedicated server with the following configuration: Intel core I7-7700 64gb ram ddr4 2x500gb SSD 1gbps network 1x Nvidia GTX 1080 I'm using it for testing purposes, i want to buy similar hardware in order to setup virtual desktops with vGPU here at the office but i have some issues and need at somepoint some external help to make this project possible, i hope i can find that help here. So, 1st i will explain what i've done so far, i have installed XenServer in the physical server because i read that he was able to do vGPU (i want to share the GTX 1080) then I made 2 VMS with windows server 2016 (one with ADDS, DHCP, DNS and Routing as Domain controller, the other with Citrix Xendesktop). After all the installation i activated XenServer with one enterprise license and i saw that Citrix wasn't able to see my GPU (error: GPU configuration and monitoring is disabled, because there are no GPUs available on this host), well i thought it was a driver problem since previously i had vmware esxi installed and the graphics card was there, but when i went to check online for this issue i could only find people talking that Xenserver only supports the production graphic cards like Nvidia GRID, others say that is only possible to Passthrough and vGPU is only available to production graphic cards. Well i'm confused, i'm asking myself if i wasting my time, or theres anyway to make this work. Do you guys know if XenServer support consummer grade graphics cards and if its possible to share this GPU or if is there any alternative that can make this possible? In 2 gamers 1 CPU, 2 (different) graphic cards were used to serve 2 VM's. Being the owner of a (single) Titan X, I would like to add a VM (in addition to my 'personal' OS) to share the GPU with friends/colleagues, to allow them to utilize the GPU for CUDA programming. Basically share the GPU between 2 'systems'. I'm getting the impression that Nvidia GRID can do this using Citrix XenDesktop or vmware (although not sure if Titan X would be supported). Are there any other alternatives/solutions to have access to a TitanX on both systems? Having SLI TitanX I believe would not solve the 'issue' to use a similar setup as linus and luke used in the video (i.e. unraid/KVM) since the hardware needs to be different; correct?

Hi Guys, I'm a student that is going to actively use a Citrix session with SAP (yeah I know) installed on it. Howver I've got a small problem. When I was running good old Win 7 I didn't have any issues. However now with windows 10 when I click on the screen icon (as shown below) I just download a ".ica" file. I hope that any of you guys can help me, otherwise I think I'm forced to use a Virtual Machine (which I'd like to avoid).
