So now that my new build is completely finished (see build log in signature) - I wanted to see what kind of performance I could get out of what is probably the least optimized and worst-running game in existence: Star Citizen. I like the game, Ive been playing it off and on for a few years now, I like the concepts and the gameplay. The mechanics are great and also shenanigans you can get into with friends are pretty hilarious. At this point you could even argue that it might just be good enough to be called a "minimum viable product" - IF they just killed some bugs and added another system or two. Sure, its taken 11 years to get here - but its here, and it still runs like s*** lol . But hey, technology seems to have finally caught up. My last build (Ryzen 3700X and RX 5700-XT) would barely run this game at acceptable frame rates MOST of the time. I also had to employ tactics, mess with settings a lot, tweak windows, and downscale the game to 2560x1080p to get the game to run smoothly. Even with these tweaks and changes, the Ryzen 3700X would barely manage 40-45 FPS in combat and would hang around 65-70 FPS during quantum travel. Now, even at much higher settings, my overall FPS has jumped at least 50%. This new Ryzen 7800-X3D and RX 7900-XTX build runs the game almost as well as a real, finished game in some areas. Out in open space I can push 120-150 FPS at full phat 3440x1440p native with maxed out quality settings. I can run around cities while maintaining a very respectable 50-60 FPS average. Combat is smooth, running around 65-70 FPS average. During quantum travel I usually see 105-115 FPS. The only setting that can bring my FPS low is if I turn the Volumetric Clouds all the way up to Very High, which will drop my FPS while walking around outside at Orison to 30-35. So I leave it at medium and get about 50-60 FPS in Orison instead. But yea, it would seem that modern, powerful, current-gen PC hardware has finally been able to conquer the performance problems found in Star Citizen by means of sheer brute force. Hardware has simply come so far since the project first began that the amount of computational horsepower has more than tripled and that triple-plus horsepower is why the game can be played so well these days. If you would like to try the game, keep in mind its un-optimized state currently makes the game more CPU bound than GPU bound. Running the game with high graphics settings actually HELPs performance as you can offload some of the CPU bottleneck onto the GPU, but it only goes so far. Observe my 7800X-3D in the video below constantly maxed out on select cores, pinned at 5050MHz the entire time, but the GPU just refuses to load to 100%. A good, modern CPU is highly recommended for the best experience. Other important things to note about the game are that while it can run on a system with 16GB of RAM, its very much not recommended. This game will easily use up 20-24GB of System RAM and those who play with 16GB of RAM report crashing to desktop fairly often. Therefore, 32GB of System RAM us highly recommended. Also, the game may not be GPU-bound at the moment but that doesn't mean playing with a super-low tier GPU is a great idea either. I would recommend something like an RTX 3060 12GB or RTX 3060-Ti, somewhere around there. Finally, Solid-State Storage is 100% required for the game files. If you store this game onto a spinning disk drive, the textures will load in too slowly and you will glitch through the environment when you respawn, killing you and sending you into an endless respawn cycle as the textures unload after you die and then attempt to reload as you respawn again. Anyways, here is a short video, so you can see the overall performance of the game on my new system. Its certainly not perfect by any means, but it is a very good experience I could easily call smooth and responsive overall. If you would like to try out the game, I would be happy to play with you anytime. Just be sure not to drop hundreds of dollars on ships for no reason. You only need $45 to buy the game. Anything spent beyond that is entirely optional. I only recommend maybe upgrading your basic game package ship because major updates require progress wipes from time to time and starting with a decent ship really helps. 95% of all ships can be earned in game with in-game currency earned through missions like any other game, only special editions of certain ships are locked behind paywalls. There really is no reason to fear playing the game. The best value starter ship as of right now would be the Aegis Avenger Titan - a much more powerful combat ship than a basic $45 Game Package but also not too expensive either, and it even has a decent bit of space inside it for storage as well along with a few other features that are lacking from $45 game package ships. Star Citizen uses reference codes to reward players for getting others to buy the game. It also rewards the new player as well. The reward changes based on what is being offered at that current moment but we can both usually get a free small ship or ground vehicle and maybe a small accessory item or two. Either way, you might as well use my reference code if you decide to play as there are literally only positives that come from it: STAR-LSM6-X9Z4 Here is a ship review of the Aegis Avenger Titan, the ship I said was the best value starter ship. Interesting note here: When this video was made, this YouTuber was nothing more than a fan of the game. Then he went to work for CIG making the game, couldn't cut it as a programmer, and now no longer works for CIG as of literally a couple weeks ago:

Seems like Citizen is releasing watches that are synced to your phone via Bluetooth to deliver some of the more used features of smart watches. You get notifications about calls and texts. Comparing the latter to smart watches it's a notification instead of the text itself. Personally I like Citizen watches. I have several. I have found that their Eco Drive watches (solar powered) are rock solid. I live in Finland. It's not exactly a sunny place but the watch has never stopped. They claim that their proximity watches never run out of battery because they're also Eco Drive watches so at best it could be better than smart watches on the battery life department; something that @LinusTech has in numerous videos raised as a very important issue with smart watches. This could be for me even thou the price gives me second thoughts (~$600 - $650). It's also a real watch. Something that you're not embarrassed to wear like most of the smart watches although the current models aren't exactly my style. It merely adds some convenient features without making you shake your arm to see the time or constantly keep charging it because it can't make it through the day. I'd be interested to see what the other watch manufacturers have up their sleeve (worst quip ever). Could be an OK idea for a video.

I've seen this game for quite a while, and I've been waiting the right time I could get involved in this game by having a supporting PC. But is it too late for me now to get involved in this game now that I have a PC with the right spec to play this game.

Did i miss something here ? How on earth is there a subforum for what is essentially a shiny tech demo, yet there is no love for actual space games, that are, you know, actually playable ? If a star citizen subforum is popular on here, im pretty sure an Elite Dangerous subforum would be a great addition to LTTF Just a thought

I know you can completely explore planets but what about space travel? Will it be like lillypads in an ocean where you can only use the warp drive to get there or could you manually travel from planet to planet using the standard thrusters even though it would take a long time? Thanks, Blueprint

Hello, I just got star citizen but I realized I don't earn any money once I finish jobs, and after restarting the game I need to re-finish them, is money not yet enabled? Also, on the main website I am shown that I have the 5000 for the reference code, but not the one thousand from the purchase of the game, how do I fix that?

So here's my problem, I think that all of these ships would be nice, but am wondering your opinion. Here are the pros and cons of each one based on my needs. Sabre- Looks super nice, has two gimbaled weapon mounts, and two hardpoints at the nose. However this ship is not out yet, and I don't know if I like it. Based on the specs I do though. F7C Hornet- Only has two lazer cannons, but still takes down enemies fast. However, these overheat massively. Flies great. Gladiator- All four lazer cannons are gimbaled, and barely overheat. that is very nice. Can take down a lot of enemies very quickly. Has many torpedoes, which are good for larger targets. However this ship is super slow and cannot turn for anything. I think in the PU this would be a good ship. It's also kinda ugly and large. Anything else I've missed, please tell me about as this will most likely be my first good ship. and I'm not filthy stink'n rich, soooo yah... And I'm new at this whole thing, so thanks a lot for all your help.

Hey guys, In the Star Citizen Launcher, the game is currently downloading for me (4.7 GB left ^.^). However, it's downloading at 70 KB/s. When it's supposed to be ~160 KB/s. I have closed every program on my PC that could possibly be using internet and it was still having this problem. I disabled P2P, which didn't work, then re-enabled it, which also didn't work. Does anybody know how to fix this or why it does it?

So i'm thinking of upgrading my PC to a new processor and motherboard and I just installed Star Citizen after waiting almost a week waiting for it to download. I tested gameplay with my A10-6800k and R9 280 with 8 GB of RAM and see just how it would go. Everything went well, except for the fact that everything was at 25 FPS. I'll deal with upgrading the parts later, but I do NOT want to go through downloading the game again. So, I was wondering if this would work: Backup all the game files to an external drive with other games, Install the new hardware along with a fresh install of Windows, Install new drivers for the new parts, And finally, move the game files back onto the computer. Will this work after the upgrade is done? Or will compatibility issues arise? (Moving the game that was played on an AMD processor to a system with and Intel processor to be exact.)

So I had this idea of buying and installing a dedicated SSD to install Star Citizen on. What do you guys think? Is it even worth it?

Hello everyone. So I recently got the Sapphire Radeon R9 280 and am waiting to get a few cables I need for it. In the mean time I thought I'd ask the question if my setup will be enough for Star Citizen My build: AMD A-10 6800k @ 4.1GHz Non-OC'd Sapphire Radeon R9 280 OC Edition - No additional overclocking Gigabyte GA-F2A78M-D3H 1x120mm front fan + 1x80mm exhaust fan Comment below what you think I can get out of Star Citizen in graphics settings and resolution. Thanks!

Hello everyone! So Star Citizen's FPS feature of the game is coming out soon (so hyped!) and with my money I saved up I was going to get an R9 270. But then I read some posts online and saw youtube videos saying that the game engine is Cryengine. And as you all know, Cryengine hates AMD. So should I still get the R9 270? Or would NVIDIA cards around this range of graphics cards perform better than the R9 270(such as the GTX 750ti or the GTX 960) in Star Citizen? My budget will still be around $150-$170, so please don't say the GTX 980

Hello Fellow LTT Members, I recently acquired Elite: Dangerous as a gift from a friend. I wanted to know of any good sources for getting started. I am doing some research and have found a webisode from this youtuber AdoredTV:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHXbDmbswY3xNOmzr5O3zgA I noticed Star Citizen had it's own page and thought to myself, "wow, I am hyped for SC as well, but did everyone just overlook this game entirely?". If you play and aren't too far in the game and want to meet up in space some day feel free to message here or PM me or anyone else who follows. Just be careful not to give out any personal information that can lead to any misfortune. Cheers B)

This is just a warning/PSA about incompatibilities with Star Citizen and Air Display: This morning Star Citizen had finished downloading on the my Gaming PC, I couldn't wait to play it on something that could actually run it as I had tried it out on my laptop while I was on vacation. When I launched my game it just froze and crashed. So I went to view event logs and it turned out that Air Display (a program that lets you connect any tablet over WiFi to use a extra display) was causing a crash for some reason. Event Log: Faulting application name: StarCitizen.exe, version: 3.6.3.2654, time stamp: 0x54947d62 Faulting module name: AirDisplayWDDM.dll_unloaded, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x529fb780 Exception code: 0xc000041d Fault offset: 0x000000000000b9d4 Faulting process id: 0x2550 Faulting application start time: 0x01d026a1f3e5c569 Faulting application path: E:\StarCitizen\CitizenClient\Bin64\StarCitizen.exe Faulting module path: AirDisplayWDDM.dll Report Id: 3585a065-9295-11e4-82e6-448a5b8b7885 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: So I tried closing Air Display and reopening Star Citizen but that did not help. Only after uninstalling Air Display did Star Citizen launch.

Hello, Greetings, Today,I was in the shower thinking about star citizen.I imagined myself as a pirate, flying through the cosmos when suddenly a huge cargo ship comes by,Then I decided to attack it with my org.My buddys were shooting it and I was boarding it,when I entered the ship I screamed "HANDS UP" and then I thought well what a great idea,If there will be a hands up mechanic in star citizen then it would great. If you put your hands up then it could take a lot of time to switch to your weapons, maybe 2-3 seconds. It would be great for pirates and the one being looted as the pirates won't have to kill him to be sure that he doesn't shoot their head off while they are busy raiding. So guys what do you think about this mechanic? Please share your thoughts below. Thank you.

Hello guys! I am interested in Star Citizen and want to buy it. However I am extremely confused by the Game packages you can buy... When I browse the page I see packages that include an Arena Commander pass, and some more expensive ships that don't include it. Is there a package that gives me access to the full game? Or is there no way to get access to all modules and modules that will release later like the FPS part for a normal price? I just want to buy a ship and enjoy the full game but the site genuinly confuses me. Thanks!
-
Okay so this game thoroughly confuses me, could I just buy an Arena Commander (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Module-Passes/Arena-Commander) or do I need to buy a ship + AC Pass (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Aurora-MR-AC-Starter) to actually be able to play AC?

Okay guys. I've got a question. What do you want to accomplish long term with the org? For me, it's to get us, as an org as stable and as powerful as possible, with as much ease as possible. So, my goal list for the org at the moment is : Grow the org numbers Establish a workable community Set in place regulations and a format to elect members to the council Elect people to the council Engage the council in org management duties Elect members to special posts within the org (diplomat, etc) Wait for game to fully launch After this, my goals for SC post launch is : Establish a base of operations Secure base of operations Establish mining outposts Establish trade routes Establish manufacturing/trade control of a system Establish a defense force Establish a military Establish a command structure for military Establish a exploration hub and outposts Build sufficient credits to advance other secondary org goals Establish org run businesses such as insurance, etc Expand to a second system Rinse, repeat Anything else you would like to achieve? Currently the secondary org goals sit at : Complete OP:Monarch Gain control of a Carrack Have enough credits to offer org benefits (should be covered pretty quickly once the first tax cycle goes round)

Hi fellow LTT Member, I have been fooled today(More trolly shock than and actually shock). My friend of a few years now who preached all the PC master race talk replied in a skype call today that he never heard of Star Cit. We looked at him several times and asked,"You're joking right"? He was serious. I don't know how to feel right now. LMFAO. As we speak he is now getting up to speed on it and his face is priceless watching the videos. NOTE* This is satire but the events are true. Post below your thoughts and concern. We need to expose more of these PCMR wannabe's. YOU'RE A BIG FAT PHONEY! -Family Guy

Hey guys so about Star Citizen, I've never really been into MMORPG and I probably wouldn't have gotten into Star Citizen if it wasn't for LLT Conglomerate. But recently I have been looking into SC more and I have come across things that I have no clue what they are. I have come to the conclusion that I don't know as much as I thought I did and since I am planning to get alpha acces I think I need to know more so does anyone know of a place that has ALL the info I could need about the game, mechanics implemented, and features planned? Also are there any other places I should be apart of to be kept up to date besides RSI's youtube and twitter? Any replys would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a bit confused on how star-citizen works and how you get it. When i tried to sign up for the UOLTT and tried to get into my hanger the site said i needed a game package. I am confused on what a game package is. If i buy a game package like the Aurora MR + (40$) will i get to play the game when it is fully released? Also, what are subscriptions do you need to pay a monthly fee to play the game? or is it a one time fee? Thank you!

The launch of the new site and the beginning of the 24 live stream begins shortly. http://robertsspaceindustries.com I am hoping for some real gameplay. What we originally saw was just a prototype, if even that, of adapting the CryENGINE 3 engine for an initial build test.
