Hello everyone, thank you for your time. I am helping my cousin transition from his iMac to the PC family. He goes to school for film, and takes pride in what he shoots, but also what he can do in post. In his words, he plans to not only edit his 4k videos, but also begin "doing more CGI-based work.. so more work with Blender or Cinema 4D". Budget: USD $2500 , but he is willing to go a little extra for a necessary reason. *US availability Expected programs: Adobe Premiere, Blender, and Cinema 4D Here is the part list I have currently made for him: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Pgc3LP Please let me know what parts are more optimal, etc. I think he wants to get the most out of his budget. Do you recommend he wait and hope he happens to get a rtx 3080? I don't think it's necessary, but I also am not familiar with this kind of workload. Thank you ! EDIT: He does, unfortunately, need wifi. Not for uploading, but for other things.

My architectural rendering (one scene) crashed while rendering overnight, due to memory running out. I'm rendering in an A0 format at 100dpi, the file size of the model is around 90MB. Texture sizes (31) are never larger than 4MB. I attached my render settings and a scene screenshots for more information. Is something here obviously too much for my specs? What can I optimize to get the scene working? Help is greatly appreciated! System Specs: 3770K 32 GB RAM Windows 10 GTX 1070 C4D 18 Student Version

Hey guys, I am planning a new build and I am looking to get some feedback/help/guidance to know if I am in the right direction. I've decided to try with AMD Ryzen 1700 because it fits my budget, and the reviews I've seen so far are pretty great. I am also trying to stay under $2,000 total for the hardware as I still need to buy a desk, chair and other accessories. I will primarily be using this rig for Cinema 4D and Octane Render (GPU render) and plan to add more GPUs in the future. I think this MoBo takes up to 3 GPUs, right? Other software I will definitely be using is After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere. I am a motion graphics artist so you get the idea. I appreciate any help/guidance if you consider I should get something else for price/performance benefits please let me know.

Hey guys, I'm at a turning point in my life when it comes to computers. I have always just bought a great computer and used it until the damn thing is just too slow to keep up with my needs. I do a lot of work in Cinema 4d, After Effect and the rest of the Adobe package. I also work in Nuke a bit. I know I can get a great computer for a lot of money buying an HP, but I feel like I can get more options and fine tune a system if I just build it from the ground up. I just have so many questions and could really use so help. Here is my plan of attack Dual Xeon 2.2 ghz E5-2630 on an Asus - Z10PE-D8 WS SSI EEB Dual-CPU LGA2011-3 Motherboard, Both CPUs would be air cooled. I would also be running a PNY Quadro P4000. I would have Crucial (2)16GB (2x8gb) Reg. DDR4-2133 memory. I would put all of this crazy into a Phanteck Enthoo Primo ATX full tower. So here are my questions... 1. Does this build make sense? 2. Does have a Single Faster CPU help more than a slower but more core CPU's? 3. I really don't care about lights or anything, I just want a fast computer to help speed up my rendering. Will this build help with that process? 4. do Xeons need to be water cooled? 5. Would an Intel m.2 cache drive speed up the OS or should I just run the M.2 card as a Cache drive for after Effect and the rest of the Adobe suite? I would like to follow up with this... I have been watching almost every video the Linus Tech tips has on you tube. It has been a big inspiration and a get deal of help for helping me understand what I'm taking on. It would be great to see an episode where they do a head to head comparison between a dual Xeon and a single Intel with a faster core..... Hint Hint Guys.

Hello everyone,Here are the specs:Ryzen 1700 - running at stock no overclock yet as I haven't been able to buy after market cooler.16gb of DDR4 RAM @3200MHz2x GTX 1070 - not in SLI as I don't game, I use these for Octane Render (GPU based rendering)OS SSD - 500GBWorking HDD - 1TB Western Digital BlueRunning Windows 10 64bit up to date / AE CC2017 14.2 / Cinema 4D R17 / Nvidia Drivers up to date / This is a brand new computer I just installed Windows a couple of weeks agoHere are the issues i'm having:1.- Using BG Renderer with Multiprocessing on and set to High Priority, I can't continue using After Effects (I can do this without issue at work on my Intel Machine which has 32GB but CPU speed is pretty much the same)2.- Using Adobe Media Encoder to render an AE comp via Dynamic Link, same thing, AE becomes unusable.3.- In these two screenshots you can see how using BG Renderer or AE Renderer won't use more than 25% of CPU power or more than one Thread. 4.- In this screenshot it's the performance when rendering out of Cinema 4D. Completely different from AE and also while rendering on C4D I can use AE simultaneously. I am pulling assets and rendering from my HDD which is very fast until I hit render. And what I am rendering from C4D is very very simple compared to all the images and effects composited in my AE comps but still don't understand why C4D makes use of all the cores and AE doesn't? why am I able to continue working normally in AE when rendering from C4D and not when using Media Encoder or BG Renderer. Why is my CPU not being used anywhere near to 100% at any point? Disclaimer: Haven't tried pulling and rendering to the SSD but I can't afford a 1TB SSD right now either way or more RAM.

Hi All, Doing lots of reading, mind blown, so much choice! Need some help choosing a CPU. My software use: Advanced Cinema 4D Animation and Rendering, Video Editing and Compositing (Adobe After Effects & Premiere Pro). Moving to PC to take advantage of C4D GPU rendering. I believe Cinema 4D benefits from high clock speed, but assume I still need plenty of cores for Video Editing and Rendering. Pretty sure I don't need to go down the Xeon path. So i7 5930K (too old?) or 6850K or 6900K or something else? Hard to know how to find the right balance between clock speed and cores. Any advice for a Mac user switching to PC would be most appreciated. cheers!

Hello. I need a laptop for school which can handle cinema 4d, adobe package and some html/css3. I was looking at the 1050/ti but since i want something sleek and light i stubbled upon the mx150. Would a 8th gen i5 (probably 8250u) with 8gb ddr4 ram and a nvidia mx150 do just fine in the mentioned programs, or do i need to spend a bit more coin and go for the gtx-series? - I would also like if anyone has a suggestion for a pc which can handle these programs with a +98% srgb display for approx. 1000 dollars. Looking forward for some answers, Thanks!

Upon looking at Linus' video on workflow, I was wondering if there's an updated 2018 version for information on building a max system for Adobe video plus 3D rendering. I am having trouble on finding out the cap on what Adobe products can do, particularly in a Mac environment. Everyone I have spoken to who uses the higher core Macs, 10 core and up, aren't seeing a significant improvement in editing/comp workflow for their 4K or even 8K video. I'm trying to pinpoint why the extra cores that they spent a ton of money on are not being used at all. There is very little information online about it - and certainly nothing from Adobe on optimization caps in Mac. Also having trouble finding info about the current GPU utilization on the new Macs. Linus' video on codecs looks like it answers that question for the most part, but is the answer the same in 2018 as it was in 2015? I don't see much issue with Windows 10 PCs in scale for CPU or GPU - it looks like the issue is more on the intermediate codec you are using to edit (as the below video shows). My agency is currently looking at an upgrade for a render server or just a render machine and we have more and more work in 4K, Multicam 4K, and Cinema 4D renders with the idea to expand to Autodesk. We work in Mac predominantly, but are also looking at custom-built PC systems. So, any info along these lines would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to understand if Adobe is keeping up with hardware and, if not, how current their software is in the world of video. I understand Cinema 4D is another world, but we often use Lite (included with Adobe) and the full version, so folks using Adobe may have some insight there as well. My thanks, Susan

So I had cinema 4D R19 running on my Ryzen based system just fine, then one day I decided to over clock my CPU and ram and as I was rendering and my PC crashed (I don't know if it was ram or CPU oc causing the crash). As soon as I booted my PC after restoring CPU & RAM settings to normal my cinema 4D refused to run. It could also not be uninstalled so I manually deleted the program file and cleared the registry and appdata but the application was still in the apps&programs for windows and when I reinstalled cinema 4D, There was 2 versions of Cinema 4D r19 the manually deleted one and the new one I installed but the new one does not work either. I have used programs like ccleaner after trying to delete all files associated to cinema 4D and multiple programs to try and force uninstall but nothing works I am at a loss. Thanks for your time

Hi guys, I'm from the Philippines and I'm planning to buy the following parts: CPU: Intel i7-5960X CPU Cooler: Corsair 115i RAM: GSkill Ripjaws 4 (32GB 4x8GB) DDR4 2400 Motherboard: Still undecided Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro PSU: RM750X 80+ Gold *Already got the other stuffs that are missing in the list like SSD/Video Cards/Peripherals/Monitors etc. I'm building this PC for my freelance workstation (motion graphics), so I'll be doing mostly heavy Cinema 4D rendering (Physical & Arnold Render - CPU). I have 4 options for the motherboard: Asus X99-E WS Asus X99 Deluxe II Asus ROG Rampage V Extreme MSI X99 Pro Gaming Carbon My ideal board is the one that can handle the 5960X flawlessly with a "mild overclock (due to high ambient temps)", not buggy, can withstand rendering for days and room for a future multi-GPU setup (Octane Render with GTX1080s) I already researched through many forums, product reviews and too much information got me clouded. Any tips and item suggestions from the list are also welcome! Thank you!

I was wondering if anyone knows of any 3rd party plugins for Cinema 4D that carry out GPU rendering with AMD GPU's? All the ones I've found only support CUDA which is annoying because rendering using CPU takes ridiculous amounts of time. 1h 20m to render a 8sec clip on a 4790k

Hello guys honestly i wanted to use Cinema 4d legally i used a cracked ver and i decided to buy it but my mind was blown by the price if anyone can help me find a cheaper ver but i want the features of the plugins because i saw the students ver and i could get it but i don't have a credit card yet...anyway and i'm kinda confused which one i want to get i want a windows 7 but i love the look of the windows 10 but if i installed it maybe it has a lack of support this is usually a problem with every new OS. If you know a website i can buy Cinema 4d studio with a cheap price with all the features and help me choose the OS.

Taking the leap from Mac to PC and feeling a bit overwhelmed with all these choices. Got a couple builds going on PC part picker, but now I need to narrow it down. Mainly I do a hybrid of audio, video, and animation in after effects, but would also like to transition into more GPU heavy 3D - Likely C4D + Octane Any specific recommendations or even just generally how I should spread my spend to maximize would be great. Any good links for beginners building their first PCs or resources are cool too. Budget is ideally 5k for everything including mouse, keyboard, and monitor ... etc (recommendations for those are appreciated as well) Current spec 15.4-inch macbook pro (2880 x 1800) 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB Friends suggestion : [https://pcpartpicker.com/user/teejco/saved/#view=ZvWbhM]
