Budget (including currency): CAD 500 - CAD 820 Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Indie Games and the occasional AAA titles like Forza Horizon 5 or Deathloop. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm just wandering if I should just get the lowest tier Steam Deck (the 64gb version) since I won't be playing high end games since I prefer to play those on a mouse and keyboard. I just want a handheld that I can use on my bed or on the couch. Or should I just save up my money to get the highest tier version (the 512gb Version) since it has the nvme drive and the anti-glare coating on it.

Hey everybody, So I have this build and I finally have enough money to upgrade the GPU. Now I am stuck between choosing a 1060 with this monitor or only a 1070. the monitor with the 1060 would be my new screen and the one i currently have will become my second. the 1070 would only power my monitor i have now and in the far future maybe a 1440p screen. What would be the best choice? Get high gaming performance now (1070) or get good gaming performance(1060) with a dual screen setup (only gaming on 1 screen)

Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB Vs Asus RoG STRIX 1060 6GB Hi, I'm preparing a new build, my first in fact, and I was leaning towards a Nvidia gtx 1060 6gb for my GPU, this is because I wanted to use the surround feature that it has and the price range is at a sweet spot for my budget.. But now that I've seen the specs and the benchmarks between the two GPUs ( not to mention that I like the aura sync with the prime z270a) I'm more leaning towards the Asus RoG Strix 1060 6gb BUT... my question that I cannot find is does it still use the nvidia surround feature as it's built around nvidia? Thanks for any help!!

Rewriting- I am stuck using Wifi, my connection is limited to my phones wireless capabilities and the strength between my room and the ISP router is weak. I want to find a solution that can improve my connection strength and speed, at the best cost to performance ratio. That being said I know I could buy my own router, as well as my own PCI-E wireless card, I want to avoid Wifi USB adapters, I don't like them. So to clear some confusion, I'm looking for advice on which PCI-e card to get, or which Router I should get. The speed the installer told me I had was AC-something, cant remember. If theres any confusion still just say so. Sorry, I was running on 4 hours sleep when I wrote this, this morning

About to drop some money on this new PC https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Ready-to-Run-PCs/Gaming-PC/77180-SS-NEMESIS2080TI I'm wanting this for gaming and a VR setup 70%, and work (graphic design, a little video editing) 30% I've done a considerable amount of research online over the last two weeks and have narrowed myself down to 3 options, well 4 if someone can convince me to go 4K. 1. ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q (IPS, G-SYNC) - Great all-round gaming monitor. https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Monitors/25plus-inch/61282-PG279Q 2. ASUS ROG Swift PG27VQ (TN, G-SYNC) - Similar specs to the above but a TN panel. https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Monitors/25plus-inch/70249-PG27VQ 3. Acer Predator X34P (IPS, G-SYNC) - MASSIVE, looks awesome, I'm really warming to this one, the difference between 120hz and 144hz isn't much to the untrained eye (so I've heard) good inbuild speakers etc. https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Monitors/25plus-inch/71216-X34P 4. 4K will look awesome but I can't afford the premium 144hz options, from what I've read online I can't find a reason to go this path!?! Any experience that one could share with either of the above products would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, just noticed the 1660Ti launched, many told me I should maybe wait for that card. Is there any compelling reason I should NOT buy a 1660Ti and go with a 2060? I personally don't care that much about raytracing, I am just looking for a good card for the budget I have which is no more than $350 for the card. I want to complete my system so I can't really wait for Navi because my 90% done system is just sitting there collecting dust. So, what should I do?

Current setup is as follows: CPU: i7 4790k 4.4Ghz CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 (2016 maybe?) MOBO: MSi z97 sli krait edition RAM: 8Gb(2 x 4Gb 1866mhz ddr3) GPU: EVGA GTX 970 4Gb SSD: WD Black NVME 256Gb HDD: x2 WD Black 2Tb Case: Phanteks 400s TG PSU: Fractal Desgin 750w 80+ Gold Monitor: Acer 27" 1080p ips 60hz I feel like it is time to upgrade something. However, I am getting decent to great frame rates on almost everything I play. Currently BF V is the most graphically intense game I play and I get anywhere fro 60 to 90fps depending on the map. My ram currently seems to be the only real bottle neck but when I hit my system the hardest it still stays at 80 to 90% usage. I guess I can't really pin what I need or should upgrade. Everything seems to working just fine and I have no real issues with the games I play. My brother tells me that I should upgrade to a 120 or 144hz panel but that would most likely mean I upgrade my GPU seeing my 970 cant even push 100fps on the games I currently play. The only thing that I think I should upgrade is add more ram to 16Gb total (ddr3 seems to be more expensive than ddr4 and less in stock though) or replace my Corsair H60 (seems to not really handle the 4790k especially long gaming sessions the radiator gets hot to the touch. Feel like I should keep this system and maybe tweak a few things to get another year or so out of it.

Currently I have Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 1080, that's doing me pretty well, but with all that RayTracing Giga stuff and GDDR6 Memory got me a bit worried that game developers would prefer to market their games with the new technology thus making last year gpu's that was one of the best going down on FPS/Settings in a such short time (as we saw from their Demo yesterday the frames were not that high in-game). So basically my question for you guys is should I save up some money and sell my current GPU to buy the new expensive 2080 or wait to see real numbers on YouTube * cough Linus cough* and wait for the second generation of this new architecture ? *The question is biased on their claim that their new GPU is 5-6 times faster than Pascal*

Hey guys. Recently I built a new computer to replace some older setup but I came out a little short when it came time to pick up a video card. I ended up replacing everything but the SSD and video card from my old system. so now I have a nice new computer with i7 6700k, in a Asus Z170-A Mobo, with 32gig of G.Skill (2400) DDR4 ram. 750w EVGA power supply. all in an Antec 1100 case. with lots of 120mm fans and 212evo CPU cooler. I had some things come up that stopped my budget along with getting my hours cut for 2 months. Now things are finally picking up so I can afford to finish this build with a video card that it deserves. its all hooked up and running with a EVGA 660 FTW card from a few years ago. when I bought and built everything I was planning on waiting for a 1060. but it seems like I would be better off saving even more money and getting a 1070 since I went a bit above the mid range with the CPU and stuff. I have used and had great experience in the past with EVGA video cards. and normally was stuck in the 250$ price range. but I have a bit more spending money this time around so I really wanted to get some input from you guys... Should I stick with EVGA or are there better brands like Asus for video cards this generation? is a 1060 going to be enough power or feel more like a bottleneck with the parts listed above? I have had my eye on the EVGA 1070 FTW, is that the right card to finish this build? Final thing is my plans for this computer are mostly gaming. I do make videos for YouTube and plan to stream on Twitch. I do plan on doing some video editing and other creative projects (fruity loops, photoshop, etc.)

I'm having issues picking a motherboard both are similarly priced and speced. Your input would be appreciated. Its going to be my first current gen rig as I love working with PCs and I'm going into the IT field but my main rig has a Core 2 Quad. Also it may help to know that I'm going to get a i5-6500 and 1x8GB DDR4 RAM with it. I am about to start a new liquid cooled build, but I can't decide on what tubing will look the best. I am going for the classic blue-lit build, but I don't know if I should choose clear tubing with blue LEDs in the case, or use blue tubing. I want the system to glow, so which will be my better option?

I am Building A new computer, and I want to get one of AMD's 8 core processor. The cheapest is the 8310. Is the only difference between the 8310 and the 8350 the core clock? If so should I just get the 8310 then overclock? If not should I get the 8310, 8320, or 8350?

I'm currently using a pair of Razer Electras, but after about a year of use, I've decided that I want an upgrade. The upgrades primary use will be gaming, with a bit of everyday use, such as music and listening to commentaries. I haven't owned any decent headphones before, so I'm really confused with what to get. I also want to do commentaries and gaming content in the future, so I'm still not sure whether I should get a headset now, for the mic on it, or headphones now and get an separate mic such as a Blue Yeti or Audio Technica AT2020. My current choices are the Steel Series 9H Sennheiser HD558 (With stand alone mic in future) Or Audio-Technica AD-700X (also with separate mic) My budget is about 250 dollars with an amp, as I want to get the most out of my headphones, and just for future upgrades if I get a higher impedance headphone. Thanks

Currently im getting two of these monitors: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-VG248QE-24-inch-LED-Monitor/dp/B00B19T7QC But i was wondering if there was a better one for a cheaper price? It needs to have 0 or close to 0 input lag And be 24" or more. I will be using them for mainly gaming but general use as well. Thanks.

Hey-oh LTT Forum! I am in a bit of a dilemma. On one hand, I want to move pass the troubles with my old laptop to building a custom gaming PC. In the other, I still need a portable laptop. Now, you might say, "Why don't you just build the system and keep your old laptop?" and I would reply, "I would, but I fear it will completely die on me. It has already shown signs of failure, from the screen fazing to white(probably loose cable or panel(?) going bad), to the HDD making a click noise then the computer freezing... I fear it won't make it to New Year. I have two solutions to this dilemma of mine. One is to just build an awesome gaming PC and cheap out on the laptop. Simple yet effective. The second is to buy an awesome gaming laptop, and upgrade it(SSD, RAM), as well as adding accessories(Monitors, separate keyboard, mouse, etc.) Thus my questions: 1. What do you recommend I should do? 2. What gaming laptop would you recommend if I(or you for that matter) had to buy one? Either buying a gaming laptop or building a computer of my wants(...) comes to about the same price.(~$2000-$2500 USD) Linus had reviewed some laptops like the Gigabyte P34G and the Razer Blade 14 and Pro; out of these I like the P34G the best for Linus' reasons. I like Gigabytes P35K as well, with the hot swap bay, makes it a good option. I have checked out the Lenovo y510p and y410p; both seem good especially with the y510p having an SLI option, except of some complaints about the trackpad and WIFI. Other choices I have looked at are the MSI GE60 and MSI GS70, both seem really nice. The gaming laptop will really be a desktop replacement for most of the year, although I do take an enjoyable trip on vacation in my summer time when I am not in school. My personal requirements in a Gaming laptop are: 1. Must be thin, not super thin, but about to or thinner than my current laptop at about 1.20-1.5 inches(30.5mm to 38.1mm) at the thickest. Definitely not pushing the two inch mark, "that not cool", and not really portable... 2. A screen size of 15.6 inches or 14 inch(396.24mm or 355.60mm). On the GS70(17.3in((439.44mm)), I gave a little on it, because of performance and design. (For the people who may not be use to Imperial measurements; I got your back...hence the mm measures...) 3. Performance to price. 4. Build quality. 5. 128gb+ SSD, 1080p display... Simple yet prudent requirements, yes? Well, to conclude I will leave you with the parts list if I do do the PC build; if you are curious. I might go with a Black/White theme and might change some parts around, maybe add another graphics card. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/23y8r Well, If you got this far I must applaud you... Thanks for your recommendations and feedback in advance! (Pardon me if I posted this in the wrong forum or did something else... I'm a newbie... )

The Proposal: I've been looking in replacing/adding a few fans into my case for some time now. Since news has been going around about Corsair's LED AF Quiet Edition fans, and Cooler Master with their JetFlo, there's a little part in my brain saying now is the time to get some fans. The Chassis: Cooler Master HAF 932 (one with the tiny window so you can see the CPU cooler) The Decisions: - Replacing rear 140mm fan - Add / rig up a few 120mm / 140mm intake fans in/on the unused 5.25" drive cage - Replace the stock 120mm fans on my Thermaltake Frio If you look at the front of the HAF 932, the 5.25" bay covers are vented...I want to use that to feed in cool air over the RAM heatsinks, over the motherboard (SB and NB heatsinks), some air to the CPU cooler, and othe miscellaneous areas. Might as well use the empty space. The two fans on my Thermaltake Frio (push-pull) are actually pretty decent, but things could be better. Rear 140mm fan seems to be acting up a bit; bearing might be starting to fail. The plan: - Corsair AF fan for the rear 140mm - 2x JetFlo fans for the CPU cooler - 1x or 2x 120mm / 140mm fan for the 5.25" (don't know which ones to pick for this) If I finally decide to get a H100i / H220 / "Cooler Master's version of the H220", I could potentially reuse the fans there too. According to the specs on Corsair's side, the LED AF fans actually perform a little below the "normal" AF Quiet Edition fans... Cooler Master JetFlo looks pretty friggin good...a little too good. Reason for dem LED fans? Mainly asthetics...since my system is based of a red and black colour scheme. (ASUS ROG board, black and red cover on the Frio, "red edition" HAF 932, red RAM heatsink...GSkill RipJaws...) But...if better cooling performance is there too, uhh...okay! The Questions: - Has anyone ordered / tried / tested these fans yet? How are they? - Would you recommend them, or something else? If so, what? - Agree / Disagree with "the plan"?

Hey guys! I'm about to buy the Corsair Carbide Air 540R, the white one. But I'm open to suggestions. Below is what's I'm putting inside it, that's relevant to the case, and I already own it:Motherboard: ASUS Z87M-PLUS CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K Cooling: Corsair Hydro H100i GPU: Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7970 Storage:4x SSD 2x HDD 1x DVD-RW PSU: Corsair TX-650W I want one with two compartments. Since I'm using a water cooling system, I don't know if I need that much airflow, but I want two separate compartments as the 540R provides. If you think this is the best option, just go ahead and say I'll also take that into consideration. The price for the 540R pretty much top my budget, so I can only go lower then that. But anything on this price range that provides what the 540R does, I'm up. And it must not be white, I can settle for black, or silver, or red, or yellow, LOL... Thank you guys for your time, even if you did just read and didn't reply [uPDATE: October 18th] The Cooler Master HAF XB Evo was a strong contestant, but I'm coming from a HAF 922 and they have the same design details, even though they are different. Since they are both big enough for my needs, 540 and XB Evo, I ended up deciding based on their design, and the 540 won easily. And I had only those two options here in Brazil, at least honestly priced, there were other options, but imported and extortionist, so I didn't even considered'em for obvious reasons. So yeah, I was pretty much between those two, sadly. After looking for similar two-sides cases, I ended up choosing the Corsair Carbide Air 540 Arctic White, for four (three, depending on how you see things) reasons only, to be honest. The first one was the space, it's big, a lot of room if you're planing on placing two or more VGAs, even if you are not, that is my case, I have only one, today, but who knows what the future holds, right? The second one was how easy it is to manage cables inside it, giving that most of your stuff that need cables are on the other side and when you need to place cables on your motherboard, there's a passage that take the cable right there, without you needing to pass through all over inside the case to get it there. Pretty awesome. The third was the color, the white, that matches all the furniture in my room, my desk is white, the cabinet is white, so it looks pretty damn cool there, white as it is. The forth one (and you may consider the above in the same category as this one), is the design. Oh boy, this thing looks awesome! The white led on the frontal fans are not that bright, I'm a led hater, I hate leds, specially on fans, and this thing doesn't bother me at all, even if the room is completely dark. Also, the white light/led on the Corsair logo at the H100i through the side window looks badass That's it ladies and gents, I'm really happy with this case. Very happy. It's an AAA case, good looks and work pretty damn well. It delivers! I'm thinking about taking out those big sticker from the HDDs. What do you guys think? Is it easy, must I use special products? Not the barcodes, those with specs and branding, the big white ones Also, can you guys see how strangely the VGA sits there? It's like it's not well placed at the PCIe port, but it is, it's just the size and weight of the damn thing that is too much ;( TOP GRILL NOT PLACED, YOU CAN SEE THE RADIATOR AND PART OF THE MOTHERBOARD I WISH I DID'T HAVE TO USE A RAID PCIe CARD (I just don't trust motherboards to do that) I have some other pictures and videos that I took/shot while I was changing the stuff between cases, they are at my Dropbox account, you guys can check it out, if you want. They're not a big deal and I didn't take it like was documenting the whole thing, but, anyways, some folks may like it, I don't know. They are there for me and I can share'em But it's not all flowers, the only con I can think about is that if one want to use a Bluray/DVD/CD drive, it must be a white one, not just white, Arctic White! The black one will take away the good looks. Or mabe pass a sata power cable to the outside, from the back, and use one of those eSATA ports on the back, so you don't need to buy a new external Bluray/DVD/CD drive. And there are other alternatives instead of passing cables to the outside or buying a new USB or a white optical drive. In my case, I don't use drives that much, pretty much when I'm installing an OS and nowadays you don't need one for that, you can use a USB stick, in fact, a USB3 thumb drive get the job done faster, so, yeah... Anyways, I'm thinking about buying a new one, white, IF and only IF I find one with a clean front that perfectly matches the case's white.

I am planning on getting into Star Citizen and was wondering which ship should I get. I plan to be a mercenary, pirate, and trader and would like to have lots of guns. I am looking more towards multi-crew ships so me and my mates can play together. I don't want to spend more then 150usd. Also would a r9 280 and fx8320 be able to handle it on a Rift? Edit: added 4th option as a joke, no offence anyone

I've been wanting to learn how to use adobe after effects for CGI work, Adobe Premiere and Speedgrade (I currently use Final Cut Pro for general editing) and I'm also interested running a few games on the side (with windows bootcamp, of course) and one of my strongest contenders is the Mac Pro other than of course building a PC. Any Suggestions? Use Case: Heavy Editing and very light gaming (I'm mainly a console gamer). I also have great experience with Mac OSX, so yeah. Those are the facts...
