I was wondering if, and if so how, LMG/LTT contributes to charity? I'm aware of...: That the auctions at LTX was for charity. Folding@Home is for charity. ...however, both of these was money/computer resources coming from their fans, not themselves. LMG was allegedly offered to be purchased and valued at a 9 figure number. Also, Linus has enough money to go around and build tennis centers for people, both LMG as a company and Linus as a person has a lot of money. Controversial opinion that might trigger a lot of people: I personally believe we as humans should try to leave the earth a better place than we found it, and no matter if you make $1000 USD or $10000 USD per month, I strongly believe that donating at least $1 USD per month to charity is a million times better than donating nothing. I'm a student with basically no money or income at all at the moment, but I still make sure to donate $5 USD per month to a local cat shelter, since that's a charity that personally feels important to me. Being open about which charities you donate to is not about boasting or bragging, it's about normalizing it and making it the norm.

Currently: - NVidia's 30-series launch (3080, 3090 and others) was bad, AMD, Xbox and PS5 also had shortages - Scalpers are bad - The difference between MSRP and auction price on eBay now goes to scalpers I haven't seen this as a solution: - Make 1st batch of products available for sale - Make it an auction with MSRP as base price. Auction lasts for at least 24h - The difference between MSRP and sale price goes to either: - You - Split between you and a charity - All to a charity Next batch of products will have a lower average sale price Repeat until it's expected retail price, and you can meet what seems to be the remaining, steady demand Thoughts?

... you'd surely be sympathetic to his cause: (hint: watch the videos on his channel!) Watch, subscribe if you like and donate if you can to this charity. @LinusTech would be super if LMG could make a meaningful contribution in whatever form. WAN show is on at roughly the same time, isn't it? (hint!)

Hello, I'm not sure how to form this but I had a possible charity event regarding Merch. Linus has been very open about his struggle with mental health. This is fantastic (in the nicest sense possible) as I think as it helps break down walls for others who care to listen. Some will just laugh it off or meme on it. That is fine... Mental health is real though. Speaking from first hand experience... it can get pretty rough at times... that is not what this is about though. One of my goals in life, and I would hope others that suffer as well, is to be more open and honest about what I am going through, in a safe, healthy environment. I hope by even posting this, it helps one person who may think they're alone... Anyway, my idea would be possibly for a limited shirt run or a limited screwdriver run with different colour options, green is the common colour for mental health. I don't know about you, but I would buy a second screwdriver if A) it was a pink lambo of some sorts and B) a portion of the cost went to local charities around you guys or global charities. I know Vancouver alone has a massive drug problem downtown, at least when I was there. The money and support just is not there for folks like these. Anyway this is just a thought, I know retooling for a new screwdriver batch would be costly but perhaps limited edition plushies, shirts, or other hopeful low cost items for you such as the hair scrunchies... I know I would be enticed to spend more (and buy stuff for my wife). Others could feel free to chime in with their thoughts. My personal belief is if you can help someone out, even in the smallest way... you've done some good in the world for that day that will possibly have a ripple effect. Obviously at the end of the day, you are a business. I understand you have your bottom lines. Perhaps when things get stable after the big launches. I just think it would be cool if a portion of hair scrunchies sales went to battered women shelters or something along those lines.

Hello everybody, I know that I am new here, and have no right to post something like this, but I'm now out of options. In a nutshell, I am a US Soldier, nearly complete with my Bachelors of Science in Computer Technology and Programming. The laptop that I was using (ASUS G74SX) fried, from power jack to ground point. Every component was tested on bench, and found cooked. I have priced out a mini ATX build that would handle the workload, which consists of Compilers, Virtual Machines, Encryption and Rendering programs. The backup laptop that I have can't even run my compiler without tanking. If some of you could please take a look at the link, and maybe give some insight, or advice, it would be greatly appreciated. I was ahead of my class by a week, but currently I am at pace, or nearly. By Monday of next week I will be behind. This is the final portion to the curriculum for my BS, and if failed.. Well yea, we all know colleges don't care. Original Link Removed By Staff

Yesterday Youtube refunded 26k $ from charity superchats for children cancer research hospital of St. Jude, because of nature of the Youtube channel that livestream went on. The owner and host Ethan Ralph (@TheRalphRetort) who fancies the idea of absolute free speech is hosting streams named "KIllstream" that are giving platform for anyone to talk about anything, that many people may find upsetting. A month ago Ralph was hosting a special event named "Healstream" to donate money to the children's research hospital of St. Jude in which they raised 26k $. Also as an addition, Ralph got his both youtube channels terminated on the spot by Youtube. Within 24 hours Youtube started refunding people, on 2nd of November, a new article made by The Wall Street Journal, describing the "Hate Speech on Live ‘Super Chats’ Tests YouTube" made by Yoree Koh (@yoreekoh) references the very same stream, what Ralph and many others from his fans see as a hit piece, the same way as they did with "PewDiePie is a nazi". On Twitter it's referred to the affair via hash tag #WSJKillsKids where they post memes about WSJ. The hospital haven't made a public statement as of yet, whether they decided to refuse money, or the refunding started on the discretion of YouTube. Thanks to Twitter user Nick Monroe, who get information at one place. https://twitter.com/nickmon1112 https://www.wsj.com/articles/hate-speech-on-live-super-chats-tests-youtube-1541205849?mod=e2tw

Hi All A friend from work helps with a charity and they're wanting a new server for their site and she wondered if I could help, they're based in the UK so parts have been selected for that region. Basically they are set to use this commerce software and the following page lists the requirements (they need Tier 4): http://webhelp.monsooncommerce.com/GAR/Monsoon/Monsoon.htm#Monsoon-Pro/System-requirements/System-requirements.htm%3FTocPath%3DAbout%20your%20system|System%20Requirements|_____0 Using the details listed on the site, (which aren't great) it seems that a 3600 is the best CPU for their requirements, but no details on RAM speed, latency, storage space etc... I came up with a build here but it would be good for people to critique it and advise on alternatives/answer my direct questions as I don't have much experience on the server side. Build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Deuteronomy/saved/#view=Q2kfvK CPU - Ryzen 5 3600 According to the monsooncommerce site's link to passmark, is going to have the best performance for the lowest cost. It apparently unofficially supports unbuffered ECC memory, however Pcpartpicker doesn't list it as being compatible. Does anyone have experience with Ryzen 3rd gen and ECC? I think it should be used for a commerce site/server. CPU Cooler - stock CPU cooler MOBO - Asus PRIME B550-PLUS Solid board that apparently also supports ECC. RAM - Kingston 16 GB (1 x 16 GB) DDR4-2666 CL19 Cheapest, reliable ECC DDR4 memory I could find. Would need 2 of these for the advised 32GB. SSD - Kingston A400 240 GB 2.5" Good, cheap SSD that should be able to handle the OS and the other system requirements and act as a cache for the HDD. They said enterprise is needed, would you suggest something else? HDD - Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Good, cheap HDD that I hope will be enough for them currently. I have no idea how much storage they require but additional ones could always be added. I would raid these together and get 2 to allow for redundancy, more if necessary with more complex raid arrays. They said enterprise is needed, would you suggest something else? GPU - Asus GeForce GT 710 2 GB Again, good and cheap. It is apparently something that is used in enterprise machines a lot and with having a passive cooler, should last a long time. The CPU doesn't have onboard memory so a cheap GPU would be needed as I don't think they will be remoting in. Case - Corsair 200R Cheap, good enough, comes with 2 fans, has a drive bay. PSU - Corsair TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Cheap, good, efficient, wanted good reliability, warranty and 80+gold, I doubt the modularity is necessary. Fans - ARCTIC F12 Silent 37 CFM 120 mm I always max out my fans for cooling but also due to allowing me to keep things relatively quiet. I think having more airflow is only going to help, but also include redundancy for other fans which makes sense for a server. We've asked the guy in charge for a few more details such as budget, if they know the storage required etc but this was the cheapest but reliable one I could come up with. Let me know your thoughts! Many thanks

I can't find a category for this where would it go
Turretgaming posted a topic in General Discussion
I don't know wat category this would go under or if it follows the forum rules so I'm going to ask all of you before posting the idea I have. It's for a charity that will instead of giving the money to a lab for them to use because most of the donation's aren't substantial enough for a large expense the lab needs and will probably be used for office supplies and lab cleaning stuff and small things like glass ware and stuff that breaks or wares out a lot and needs replacing all the time but is relatively inexpensive compared to other things they need. So this charity builds servers with the money and uses the folding@home tool to allow the donations to benefit the research for years after the initial payment and let's people who can't afford to build or don't have a computer power enough to benefit the folding@home network still add to the simulation speed. I currently don't know if there's a category for me to talk more about it and provide a way to donate or if saying more and posting a link would get me banned. Please don't ban me for this I'm not currently posting a link to it or talking about it's name or asking anyone to donate to it I'm just asking if doing those things for this charity would get me banned and if there's a category for this. -
Hey guys I wanted to know if anybody knew about a Freegeek-like shop in the Gold Coast/Brisbane, Australia area. Google comes up with regular computer repair and sale shops (which are significantly out of my budget). Feel free to add any other locations/names of charity computer shops in major cities worldwide (or, if this has been done already, link me to the post).

I know it's probably not the place but if anyone has some change lying around! Me and A group of students at my school are doing a 24-Hour walk/run for charity. We aim to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Down's Syndrome Association. We are doing this for our Citizenship GCSE as we have to do a fundraiser. However we didn't want to do any fundraiser, we chose to do a 24-hour walk/run which is challenging and difficult, staying up and walking day and night. We will be doing the event day and night from June 10th-11th, 4pm-4pm. Please donate anything you have! The more money the charity gets the more lives you are benefiting! (and we also get more marks for different nations donating ) ! Cystic Fibrosis affects millions worldwide, every one in 25 people carry the faulty gene... Donate Here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/JBS24hourCF Like our Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/jbs24hourrelay/?ref=bookmarks

Hey guys so I am interested in volunteering for an organization like free geek that refurbishes computers and gives them to people in need of them. I live in the Los Angeles area, and unfortunately the only such organization I could find is Computers 4 R Kids, which is located over 20 miles from me and also I might not be able to go to (my friends and I are all teens, and as far as I can tell computers 4 r kids is mostly for people ages 18-22). Do any of you know of any operations in la? I would like to volunteer for free geek since they even let people under 16 go as long as a parent or guardian is supervising, but no free geek operations are in Los Angeles.

Sprry for the wall of text and bad grammar, but bear with me... Hi, I'm looking for anyone willing to make me a simple callender template. I do photography as a hobby and have been doing so for many years now? I do many shoots for local ballet dancers (Cape Town City Ballet), who are very talented but get payed very little, thus to help I make calenders and sell them, giving the money to them as a donation. I need someone to make a template for me, as the usual seller has raised his pricess too high for the endeavour to be practical. I basically need a similar template to the one at the bottom of the attached picture (2015 calender), with dates for 2016. The final file needs to be in Adobe InDesign. Edit : the template is for the entire year. Thanks for taking the time to read this post -this project hold no monatory(?) gain for me

So in the summer ill be starting a charity You-Tube show called "anything for Ele" to raise money for Ele's Place. They're a chain of healing centers for grieving children ages 3-18 click the link for more info http://www.elesplace.org/ I need either a complete outro or a piano/violin instrumental that i can fade into at the end of videos (id like the piano/violin instrumental to sound similar to viva la vida by coldplay) (will probably mix the piano instrumental with a drop in FL studio, just not good with melodies) of course the music will be credited to you and you'll have your name/screen name/logo in the bottom right of the outro, and a link to your channel/website in the description. etc.

One of the biggest Twitch-Streamers Lirik held a 24 hour charity-stream, because he achieved a 1000 "subscriber-train" on last sunday. He later let his community vote for the charity organisation the community would donate to. The clear winner was "Doctors without Borders". The initial goal was set at "only" $20.000 USD, to which he jokingly said, if it wasn't reached, he would stop streaming for ever. In the first hour, his stream already raised more than $5.000 USD and the goal was reached in just under 12 hours. The end amount was at $43.406 USD(42.406 from the community + 1.000 from Lirik), but if you wish you can still donate HERE until monday, where he will then donate the money to Doctors without Borders on stream. I, for the most part, really did enjoy the event and donated myself. It's awesome to see big personalities, like Lirik, use their position for a good cause.

Reach out to those in pain.. The Crowd-funding site Indiegogo has launched a new site separate from their original campaign site dedicated just for humanitarian cause that people can use to help those who are in need.. Basically it's a charity fund that is used to help those who are in need , The service is called Indiegogo Life. together.. Since this being a charitable target , the site creators aren't charging extra for the cause funding , While successfully funded campaigns on Indiegogo are charged a fee of 4 percent if they use PayPal or 9 percent if they don’t, Indiegogo Life won’t charge any platform fees. Recently our beloved Tech of tommorow Host Elric Phares was in the campaign where he's being treated for diabetes & got his second leg amputated & his friends have been active in it to bring him some help via the crowd funding.. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/support-elric-phares the money you collect is typically what you'll keep. The categories available on Indiegogo life are medical needs, emergencies, celebrations, memorials, pets & animals, faith, sports, volunteer efforts and education. Indiegogo says the new service also features a new campaign setup process that’s faster than before and access to community building tools. cue sarah mclachlan With that being said, Indiegogo currently do not verify the campaigns <_< put up on the site, Which means that there is quite a large possibility of scamming cases , So think before you actually make a decision to give support, but do do that with caution as well..The site has also launched an app for the crowd-funding campaign. Post your thoughts & comments down below.. Original Link: https://life.indiegogo.com/ News Link: http://www.engadget.com/2014/12/15/indiegogo-life/

First of all for the record, I bought the bundle as soon as I saw the link... The Sims starter pack alone costs about $80 in Australia, so paying $5 for 8 new titles is pretty jaw dropping. I'm playing devils advocate here as I want to get a discussion going as to what people think the motivations behind this new bundle were. I like to think I'm a charitable person, but the problem is that the average purchase costs system of Humble Bundle means the price is always low and there is no incentive to pay more to the charities available. Even if they had only released half the games available they would likely still have made a significant amount of money for charity. Did you buy Dead Space 3 on release only to now find that people can grab it and 5 other titles for $1? Is Humble Bundle just becoming a staging front for big companies to gain publicity? The Humble Bundle weekly sale has now been completely overshadowed. I'm interested to hear what other people think as nearly 500,000 bundles have been sold with over 13 days remaining, take care everyone and all the best.
