Basically, there pretty much is nothing a phone can do that a laptop cannot do. So, I was wondering, why not get rid of the cell phone and use my laptop for absolutely everything? If I get a recent smartphone, I will expect far too much out of it and scoped storage is still a problem even on rooted devices! If I intentionally gimp myself with an older flagship phone, I will get a myriad of unsolvable issues with no way to fix them such as inability to make and receive any phone calls or even not paying attention to the bands supported and not being able to connect to any existing cellular network. With a "feature phone", I will screw it up by hacking it and putting games on it, and nowadays possibly even PSP games. So yeah, I hate cell phones. Another solution I looked into was either a laptop with a built-in cellular modem, but found those to be stupidly overpriced, or buying a cellular modem that plugs in via USB into an existing gaming laptop, but once again, these cellular modems are stupidly overpriced! Not only that, but my parents now make me pay for my phone plan. So, I was wondering, is it worth saving money by not buying the prerequisite cellular hardware required to then have to pay for a phone plan anyway?

I am sick and tired of arbitrary software compatibility on Android! I want a device that can be a phone and still run all of my favorite games! It's not like it is due to a technical limitation, it is simply because developers gave me the middle finger and made me go on this search for something to replace my Pixel 7 Pro. I started this search when someone told me that buying a phone to run Yuzu was a bad idea, so I will buy a cellular dongle that allows any laptop to be a phone! But which one should I buy, and what software should I get to make this all happen?

So I have been doing some digging into looking for a reliable way of getting my sim unlock code to unlock my Samsung S6 Edge and I don't want to use my current carrier to get the unlock number. Does anyone know a reliable website to get a code to sim unlock my phone? I don't really trust many website with my IMEI number and whenever I go to a website that some other youtuber says is good, there are usually a bunch of comments under the video saying things like "I payed but haven't gotten my number yet..." and other comments like that. So far I have looked at: androidsimunlock.com theunlockingcompany.com cellunlocker.net But all of these website kinda give me a bad feeling. Anyone try these? Anyone suggest a good site just short of contacting my carrier, AT&T? Or should I just say screw it and get my unlock code from my company (probably the most reliable but a pain to deal with customer service)?

Long story short, my Motorola Z play droid from 2017 started boot looping on Tuesday, and there's some very important data that I absolutely NEED that only exists on this phone. I need a way to get it into working order again, by any means possible, or four years of work goes down the drain. Any professional repair company recommendation, or DIY solution would be helpful. Thank you Edit: No, I never rooted it, and yes, it has probably already been updated to Android 8.0

Greetings to all, first of all let me introduce myself, My name is Firat, I am consulting this linustechtips site for a long time, and I enjoy every single part of it, here is a true lifesaver to me, for most of the time. I think this is my turn to give it back to the community, so here I share my latest experience with a site called witrigs.com. I already aware that there is another post mentioning reliability of witrigs site, but that one was quite old and I wanted to open up a new topic because I want to reach as much people as possible, and try t save anyone I can. Because I think lots of us here are techy people and order some spare parts etc from internet from time to time, and it is obvious that you are going to land on one of those witrigs.com offerings sooner or later. So I hope I reached you before them... Enough chit chat; here is my review; To everyone considering shopping from witrigs.com, dont! simply dont do it! please see my latest email to them, you can find it below; -------------START OF E-MAIL------------- Hello, I would like to tell you that I am very unhappy with my purchase from you. My order number : 100118151 I ordered; OEM LCD Screen with Digitizer Replacement for Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Black Review this Product 116763 US$49.29 Ordered: 1 Shipped: 1 US$49.29 Witrigs ESD Safe Stainless Steel Tweezers Fine Tip Curved Black Review this Product 117837 US$5.00 Ordered: 1 Shipped: 1 US$5.00 Witrigs LCD Supporting Frame Sticker for Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Review this Product 117449 US$0.99 Ordered: 1 Shipped: 1 US$0.99 Ultra-thin Opening Card 5pcs/set Blue Review this Product 116485 US$1.00 Ordered: 1 Shipped: 1 US$1.00 The problem is; All my orders (except the tweezers) came wrong. 1 : OEM LCD Screen with Digitizer Replacement for Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Black I ordered the OEM version especially. But I received the CUSTOM version. This is unacceptable. I want a full or partial refund for this item. 2 : Witrigs LCD Supporting Frame Sticker for Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact The picture in your website shows the original frame sticker, which has additional stickers for earpiece and earpiece frame. I received a CUSTOM frame sticker with no earpiece and frame stickers. That was one and only reason why I bought from you guys, because you showed the full original sticker in your website, but sent me the cheap knockoff lcd frame sticker only. I already have lots of local sellers here that sells this lcd frame sticker, but I bought from you because you put the picture of original sticker (which also includes earpiece stickers) 3 : Ultra-thin Opening Card 5pcs/set Blue While I was purchasing, the website was showing a different product, a white and quality looking plastic card, that's why I bought it from you. But I received the cheap plastic thin cards instead. (You already updated the pictures in your website so I cannot show you the old one) Overall, I am completely disappointed with your attention and meticulousness, and I will never shop from you again, it is so sad that I had such high expectations from you since you looked like a decent and reliable shopping place. right now, I demand a refund ; 1. for lcd screen : 15,25USD I paid for the OEM version, which is : 49,29 USD You send me the CUSTOM version, which is : 34,04 USD The difference is : 15,25 USD for lcd frame and opening cards, I can compensate for your errors, but for the lcd screen, this is simply unacceptable. I demand this refund and I can send you additional photos explaining the problem. -------------END OF E-MAIL------------- I tried to reach them, send them emails, requested RMA, etc, they simply dont answer... Let your knowledge and vision be the judge here....avoid witrigs.com at al costs! If you need any details, please ask here, I will gladly answer and inform you about the every single detail I know.

Finally I'll soon be switching to Verizon from T-Mobile, but for the first time in years I'm tasked with the challenge of finding a decent phone. My budget is around $50.00 & there's only 6 Slider or Flip Phone options on Amazon in total. So now I'm starting to wonder if I should just get a smart phone, been hesitant because I feared anything under a couple hundred might be so cheap it's touch screen would break from a 2 inch fall. That's where y'all come in, help prove my concerns wrong with a decent smart phone for under the price I mentioned. In terms of features I'm anything but picky, although if it's possible to get one with an alright 3+ Megapixel Camera then that'd be great. More importantly though, it needs the ability to be plugged into a PC for pic transferring. My current Samsung flip phone oddly can't do this although a previous model that broke could. An SD slot would be nice but probably not required unless some only have a few MB on board. I've seen dozens of smart phone choices on Amazon for under 60 but could really use all y'all's help in whittling em down to the most durable/reliable. *Update/Edit: My budget is around 50 bucks for 3 phones, myself & two family friends. Since we'll be getting the lowest Verizon plan with minimal data, not that we use it anyway, that aspect of the phones isn't important.

How do i unlock this phone? I bought this phone from somebody who said that it was unlocked. When I put my sim card in it, it asks for a "SIM network unlock PIN". Is this normal for an unlocked phone? If so, how do i get this unlock pin? The phone is originally an ATT phone, so i went through their network unlock claim service and they said that this phone wasn't eligible because its device payments had not been fully payed off. Isn't there a tool I can use on my computer and unlock the phone via usb like when you root a phone?

**Overnight cell phone Wireless Charging** I've always plugged in the provided cable and left my cell phone charging overnight. But are there any disadvantages to overnight Wireless Charging? I know a wireless charging pad can be slower, which is fine because I would use it overnight. But what about Heat or Decreased Battery Life? I just got a LG G6 and it's only disadvantage is the battery cannot be removed and replaced. So I'm slightly concerned about wearing out my battery too soon. If wireless charging is no more of a problem than the good old fashion USB power cord then I won't worry about it. Have you used a Wireless Charging Pad for your phone? And if so what are the pros and cons you have experienced?

The phone does not support NFC (near field communication) but does have many attractive features for the price point if you're ok without the NFC feature. http://www.cnet.com/news/zte-zmax-pro-lands-at-metropcs-for-jaw-droppingly-low-99/ http://thenextweb.com/gadgets/2016/07/18/hands-zte-zmax-pro-ot-phone-99/#gref

I currently own a Galaxy S3 (GS3) with Virgin Mobile (VM). VM coverage is on the Sprint network using CDMA, The ONLY phones that VM accepts (allows) on their network are phones that VM provides, they have the main stream phones like the GS7 (For $650), they also carry the newest iPhones as well. Plans transfer over to new phones for free, and I am currently paying $35 for unlimited talk, text, and data (First 2gb is high speed data, then its puts rest of data on the wood network, buts its still free). This is a VERY good plan as I got it over 8 years ago, and never stopped it. It used to be $30 but was increased to $35 about 2 years ago due to taxes/inflation. (No contract, VM only does prepay per month). I was really hoping to buy a OnePlus 3 (For $399), but I would have to switch to T-mobile or At&t, and their plans start at $50, and have extra fees if you use too much data. With those numbers I would be making my money back after 16 months of continuous service, and I plan to have me new phone for longer than that. I'v been using my S3 for about 3 years now. TL-DR; Are there any other coverage providers other than T-mobile or At&t that can provide anything close to my current plan ($35 a month unlimited everything)? Or should I just pay the big $650 and use my phone for a year and a half/more?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody knew of an unlocked phone that is an improvement of the Galaxy Advant that is under $100. The specs of the Galaxy Advant- http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_avant-6542.php . I'm looking for an improvement in RAM (hopefully up to 2 gigs) and an improvement of processor. It needs to either be unlocked or with Metro-PCS because my parents both already have a plan on Metro and they'll just add me on for cheaper than having to buy new phones for both of them and going to a new plan. Thanks so much.

This is a neat idea I feel like this should already exist somewhere. Its a USB car charger and a battery bank. It makes the chore of charging more convent and likely to get done. Check out this link: https://www.facebook.com/pocketrocketpower?fref=ts They also have a Kickstarter launching soon. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/electric-indy/756260999?token=6e576603

Hello, I am wanting to find a cheap android smart phone to replace my existing Huawei Assent Y201-Pro. The main reason I want to update is because the battery is not lasting as long as it used to and it is so slow and the screen has a horrible resolution. I am not a heavy phone user I would want a phone under $150 AUD and would prefer having a Quad Core Processor for many years of use to come and not being soo dahm slow. I don't really care about the GUI or the camera quality too but I don't really want a terrible camera too and I don't want it much bigger than my existing and I certainly DO NOT want a phablet. I don't care about what brand it is as long it is decent and I would also want it to be unlocked, so i can use what ever carrier I want. I would prefer to buy install (or order it in store) than to buy it online, and I can wait 2+months or so, so I am not in a hurry. Remember I live in Australia so please take that into consideration.

First person to ask for one. You NEED to be able to buy it within 24 hours of claiming the invite and your carrier has to be a GSM carrier. Also make sure OnePlus ships to your country/region. This is for the 64GB Sandstone Black version.

So I recently updated my galaxy s5 to the newest version of android (Lollipop). For some reason, since this update, my 3g/LTE are just not working. The icon is always displayed at the top that shows I am connected to 3g but there is no service found. Yes, my mobile data is on and It's set to CDMA/LTE and i even tried switching to automatic. The people at sprint's customer support were NO help at all! They even told me to factory restored my phone and the problem still persists!! Can anyone please help me or guide me through this at all? It would be greatly appreciated!

Hopefully you have unlimited data and you can actually use more than 2 gb. Even though this is rare in the states and Canada. I'm on a old Verizon Wireless plan, and post how much data you've used in one month, and HOW!? I've used 121 GB mainly watching linus and other youtube videos, along with twitch.
