I have a CD with results of a CAT scan on it and it works OK - i.e. I can go to its fc\bin\cdviewer.exe an a viewing program will run itself when I execute this file, allowing me to see medical data with a GUI But when I copy content of that CD to a drive using Windows Explorer or TeraCopy 3.12.0 or [run as Administrator] Fast Copy 5.1.0 x64 then executing this EXE [even also as Administrator] does nothing. And if go within BIN or ISO image of this CD made with Ashampoo Burning Studio 14.0.5 and run that EXE then I will get 3 consecutive pop-up errors informing me about suppossedly missing DLL files- but these files are present within those image files. I have double checked the size of the whole ordinary copies and image copies and compared it with that reported by the system for content of the CD- they all have the exact number of files and folders and also the overall size expressed in bytes So can not protected by a password CD work- but its copies do not? I can access the raw medical data within copies, which is hard for any usage, but its GUI add-on is inaccessible Over the years I have copied many such CDs with medical records to my drives using different methods and they all work. As for this Blu-ray of mine: I use it rarely only for such tasks and for restoring my operating system from images and creating new ones- thus I can assume it is in a pristine condition that yields no copying errors during its usage I am using Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 x64

Hello, I need urgent help in how to rip a damaged audio CD. I found a bunch of my mom's old CDs from the early 2000s that she believed she had lost, most of them are in ok to bad shape. Her bday is coming up soon so I wanted to get an MP3 player with all the music on the CDs loaded up on it as a bday gift. They are abour 30 CDs, I have come across two of them that play just fine with some songs having a couple of hiccups, I went ahead and ripped them but they stay stuck as I can hear the DVD reader on my PC go crazy trying to read the disk while ripping. Is there a way I can rip these CDs? I have tried cleaning them well with soap and water and a soft cloth but to no avail. I heard there was a brillo option but I do not wish to damage them any more than they already are to the point where they are unplayable. Any help will do please.

Long story short i wanted to watch an old movie I had on a DVD and plugged the thing in my PS4. I got carried away and ended up not watching the thing but leaving the disk inside the PS4 and when i went to pull it out I noticed a spot on it of what seemed like to be mold. What i am more worried about is did I infect the disk drive in the PS4 and now there are tons of spores in the console? Dose anyone have a clue about it?

cd-rom Looking for internal optical disc readers (Blu-ray & DVDs)
RossFrost posted a topic in Peripherals
Howdy, I am planning on making a optical disk tower and I need some recommendations of optical drives for Blu-Ray and DVDs + CD readers, too. I would like them internal and mid to high range quality that has good error correcting abilities. Thanks! -
DVD disc has just 75 minutes of total track length. Even when I try burning tracks that correspond to the total length of 75 minutes I get an error that says "the selected files/tracks can only be burned to a cd". I opted for DVDs as the total size of those tracks is 1.9 GBs. Tried PowerISO, AnyISO and even Windows Media player with no success. Right now I have 76 FLAC tracks (228 minutes of audio) that I want to burn on a single disc. I have a CD/DVD RW drive in my laptop. Any help ?

Hey! Do I need to download Steam/Origin to be able to play the CD version of GTA5/Battlefield 1? Also, when I have the CD version I don't have to download anything right? The game will be stored at the CD. Thanks for answering!

I have tried to gain remote access through computer management, yet it says that "You do not have access rights to Logical Disk Manager on 'COMPUTERNAME'." I have also tried to gain access with psexec, but the error message Access is denied to 'computername'. I have tried with powershell to get this error message "The WinRM client cannot process the request. If the authentication scheme is different from Kerberos, or if the client computer is not joined to a domain, then HTTPS transport mus t be used or the destination machine must be added to the TrustedHosts configuration set ting. Use winrm.cmd to configure TrustedHosts. Note that computers in the TrustedHosts l ist might not be authenticated. You can get more information about that by running the f ollowing command: winrm help config. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubles hooting Help topic." Any help on this would be appreciated.

Hi guys, need some help, I have a DVD-R blank disk and it says to have a capacity of 4.7GB which is more than enough for all the songs I want to put on it (total of about 700MB but yet it only allows me to fit about 80 minutes worth of songs on it before it forces me to use another disk to continue. Why is this? Also, the disk advertises 120 mins so why does it only let me use 80 mins? Thanks.

Here is my situation: My grandparents just moved into a condo, and because they only listen to CDs we want to get them a CD player as a house warming gift. I am most likely going to get this one because it has Bluetooth, and the CD player built into the speaker. What do you think of it? http://www.target.com/p/jensen-174-wall-mountable-bluetooth-music-system-with-cd-player-black-with-silver/-/A-50684293

New to the idea of reformatting a hard drive but I've heard it is a pretty good idea so I think I will do it. My plan is as follows: I have a 3TB HDD and a 500GB SSD that I boot from. My plan is to move all of my "valuable" files like photos and important documents into a folder that I can just put on an external drive. I plan to take screenshots of how my folders are laid out so that I can put them back together in generally the same organizational structure Once I move all the important documents or get copies on an external drive I'll reformat the HDD and SSD so they have nothing on it I plan to re-install windows on my computer. And here is the 2 part question 1: Can I re-use a windows key, like I used the key and disc 4 years ago when I built the computer and then can I use that same key to re-install windows. 2: The key I bought at the time was Windows 8.1OEM, but I currently use windows 10 which I got from that free upgrade thing, and I'd like to keep it that way, so is there any way I can get the windows 8.1 installation to convert to Windows 10 again? Let's just say that works, then I move all my files back from the external drive onto their respective drives and re-install games and other stuff. Wrap up: Is reformatting really worth it, I've heard it is good to do every once in a while but is it a good idea for the regular user? Is there a better way to do it, I've seen ways online of doing a windows factory reset but isn't half the point of reformatting to make sure you get a fresh version of windows w/out any chance of there being a virus in the OS Is there any way to turn my 8.1 OEM OS CD into a Windows 10 OS Can I re-use the key from the 8.1 OEM if the above works

I'm on Linux and one of its pros over Windows is that you can easily create hashes of the contents of files and dvds. My question is, are these hashes 100% accurate and representative of all data on there? Is it possible for malware to be hiding somewhere behind the curtain? On other storage devices malware can still potentially reside inside the firmware if you perform a format. Do discs have something similar to firmware? Meaning that a dvd could still be malicious even if its hash is authentic?

Hello ! I have a few questions regarding buying pc games on a CD. I am fully aware that most of us nowadays just buy and download them online through steam/origin. But there are some things I've always been curious about : 1.If it's a steam/origin game do you have to have the previously mentioned software to play the game ? 2.If so, once it's activated can i download it on other pc's like i can with games that were bought directly from steam/origin ? 3.Let's say my PC doesn't have a DVD reader ...... how am i supposed to install the game ? Do they include keys written on a scratch cards inside the CD, or is the activation key already binded with the CD itself ? I hope my questions weren't too stupid for you guys ...... Thanks in advance.

Here's an alternative way to install windows 95 for those still having issues installing windows 95 manually without the floppy setup disk what you need: .DOS on a floppy or on an image (.flp .img) .Windows 95 cd .VMWARE player (it's free) or virtualpc (I recommend VMWARE) .Magiciso (the free trial version will do) .a copy of MSCDEX.EXE and oakcdrom.sys (both can be found online) MSCDEX.EXE: http://www.techadvice.com/tech/M/MSCDEX.htm oakcdrom.sys: https://goo.gl/YTZ3nL Magiciso: http://www.magiciso.com/download.htm step 1 create a new virtual machine (make sure to add a floppy image drive if you are using vmware) step 2 put your dos floppy/image in or mount it and install dos step 3 download and install the free version of magiciso open magic iso go to new - floppy - 1.44 find a copy of mscdex.exe find a copy of oakcdrom.sys (generic cd rom driver that works with dos.. might have to try another if it doesn't work) RENAME the oakcdrom.sys to cdrom.sys drag both these files into magic iso on the floppy disk we just created save the file close magic iso find the file we just saved in your explorer change the extension from .ima to .flp (if you are using vmware) or .img (if you are using virtualpc) (if you can't see the extensions you're going to need to change your folder options to show extensions) google it. it's easy to do step 4 go back to your virtual machine mount the floppy image we just created a:\ copy mscdex.exe c:\ copy cdrom.sys c:\ (don't forget to rename oakcdrom.sys to cdrom.sys in step 3) step 5 find config.sys in your c drive type: edit config.sys now add a line that says this device=c:\cdrom.sys /d:mscd001 exit and save step 6 find autoexec.bat in your c drive type: edit autoexec.bat now add a line that says this c:\mscdex.exe /d:mscd001 exit and save step 7 restart the computer or virtual machine step 8 we're still not done yet now move to your c drive and type mscdex.exe: /d:mscd001 /M:5 /V /L:d /S /K (this part /M:x refers to the amount of buffers your drive has.. it's either 4 or 5. usually 5) step 9 create a blank floppy image either in vmware or magic iso then mount that new one put your windows 95 cd in the cd drive type: d:\ setup.exe step 10 it should be booting windows 95 now now you might run into troubles when it tries to install the other drivers it might ask you for windows floppies even if you're using the cd version which I never understood but anyways, you can find all of these drivers on the windows 95b cd if you have it they're all in cab files so you'd need to extract them 1 by 1 and put them on floppy images to use them. (huge pain) but I actually just got it to load the drivers off the win95 cd by just trying it over and over again until it worked. it might have been because I either did or didn't restart after putting in the windows 95 cd can't remember, but I'd try both if you're having trouble all in all windows 95 is incredible wonky to install in a virtual machine. I highly recommend using VMWARE and not virtual pc for this one. If you didn't have a hard time installing this.. you got incredible lucky make sure you check to make sure windows95 is seeing your cd drive if not go to the add new hardware wizard in the control panel and see if that detects it (Note: I tried to install it without installing MS-DOS first the first time by using fdisk and format then creating the autoexec.bat and config.sys manually. Even though I did this right I ran into problems when windows started installing. Installing dos before hand made it run a lot smoother for some reason. Ask around and find a copy from a friend. A lot of people still have a copy lying around that they don't care about)

Long story short I got stuck with Ubuntu on my PC. Can't find a way to install windows back on it. I've tried using my rooted android and boot windows 10 iso but it tells me I'm missing drivers. I've tried switching USB ports. I don't have a windows CD to install said drivers so I'm stuck in a loop. Is there any software to install Windows without CD/DVD/USB for Ubuntu?
