Alright, so i'm finally doing something i've been meaning to do for years! A long time ago, i went and bought a secondhand 4U server chassis. I have no clue what brand or model it is, but after drilling out some rivets and mounting a 360 radiator with some double sided tape it turned into my very first server! It started out quite small, but now it's a beast with loads of hardware and top of the line specs! Right now she's running: AMD EPYC 7551 256GB DDR4 ECC 2400 SuperMicro H11SSL-i Inno 3D RTX 2080Ti Nvidia Grid K2 with a noctua fanmod Kingston 512 GB NVMe drive EVGA SUPERNOVA 1000W G3 with a noctua NF-F14 Engineering Sample Mellanox 10G SFP+ NIC And of course custom watercooling on all the hot parts. I've had many, many hardware configurations in this thing, and it always worked like a dream. This case truly was the start of my enterprise tech obsession, and maybe even the reason why i work in datacenters today. The thing is, even tough the hardware inside is amazing, the outside doesn't really look the part. It's always been an old, secondhand server chassis i got for cheap. Here it is in my current rack. It's the middle server without any drive bays. This buildlog is finally going to change that! Here's the plan: Mods! - Swap out the front panel for something better looking and less restrictive - Swap out the front of the case with a proper radiator mount from a donor case - Paint the chassis (outside and inside) - Remove all excess brackets from the old case configuration - Re-do the watercooling - Add easy to use drain and fill ports - (maybe) add a PSU shroud I've already purchased a proper donor case for this. Enter the Zalman T7: I went with this case for a few reasons. First, this case has a symmetrical front panel, which is almost exactly the size of a 19" 4U rackmount. And because i will place it on it's side basically, this is a very big plus. Second, almost the entire front is mesh, and there are no secondary filters or other stuff to restrict the airflow. Noice! Third, this case has a 360mm radiator mount in the front which i can cut out and mount in the front of my server chassis. And last but not least: This thing was 35 euro's brand new! That's it for now, updates as the case arrives and the mods begin!

Here is the specs to my current Rig: AMD Rzyen 1700 Asus X370 Crosshair VI Trident Z G.skill 32 gb RGB Asus vega 64 Asus ryujin 360 Asus Soar Sound car Samsung Evo 860 nvme Sandisk 1tb ssd and 2 more tb of mech HDDs Case Lian Li PC-011 Dynamic razer edition 3x lian li bora rgb fans. Now my issue and I've been trying to research this but can't find much of anything is that, the lian li fans are 3 pin argb controlled. But obviously my asus mobo, has a 4 pin rgb, is there any way of getting the lian li fans to be controller thru the mobo via the razer synape software or am I SOL and stuck to using the remote that lian li included with their fans? I've tried the Deepcool rgb controller but that just made the RGB flip out hard and the software couldn't even see them.

So, building my first PC. It's a red & black themed build, so thought about adding some red colored minerals to it, anyone know good places to buy such a thing from? or know where Luke got his? (I'm in the UK).

Hello guys I always wanted to do case modding, so finally I started it, also I am new to this forum so if you have any suggestions please feel free to share So basicly I wanted different mounting position for my AIO from Fractal Design, so I made custom brackets to mount it like I wanted.This is all for now, but I will do more very soon, stay tuned and also you can follow me on Instagram (@gg.design_) P.S. Im actually not sure if this works at all, but i have a light cable just lying in a storage at home and was wondering if i can use it for my pc instead. (As remaking the connection to a fan controller.) The picture is how the end looks of the cable. It got a black, green, red and blue cable which is if i can rewire to a 3 pin fan connector which only got 2 cables. Is this possible? Sincerely, aXeptance.

Which Is better? I love one of the colors that Teleios fusion offers but I am a bit of a noob when it comes to sleeving. Should I go with Teleios or paracord? Thanks

just started on my first mod... cut up an old R2D2 toy and screwed it onto a pan and tilt kit that's zipped tied to the top of my case(at the moment). It's powered by a USB cable I cut up so it powers on alongside the PC. I still need to make the head more levelled and find a way to cover underneath of the head. I plan to add speakers for the whistles and probably something else. if anyone has any suggestions on what I could do or what to hide the pan and tilt bit with I'd love to hear it! My pc case is the Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L. I just purchased a 3.5 inch hdd not realizing that my case only supports one mount ( I already have one). I’ve looked for 2.5 to 3.5 inch mount adapters but I only found 3.5 to 2.5. I really don’t want to have to use an external enclosure. What should I do?

Hi, I’m doing a sleeper build in an old Sun Ultra 45 case. Pretty much everything about this case is proprietary; I’ve drilled new standoffs, made new HDD mounts, air flow, the lot. For the most part this build has been down to problem solving and following basic sleeper procedure, but when it comes to connecting the strange front panel IO the project has hit a standstill. Here’s pictures of the IO unit. It’s fairly standard in terms of its actual interface content – a momentary power button, an LED, USB 2.0 (a little old but still), Firewire, and audio in/out. The place where I’m really having the trouble is the non-standard connectors on the back of the PCB that would have gone to the Sun motherboard. I’ve deduced they’re actually just IDC connectors. The pin counts from left to right are as follows: 26, 6, 14. Now I’ve dug around for pinouts for them, but I honestly can’t find a thing. Sun service manuals are made for the average office worker to be able to understand with instructions like PART A CONNECTS TO PART B, etc. Do you think there’s a possibility that I could connect these IDC connectors to the motherboard somehow? The last thing I really wanna do is cannibalize this piece of hardware cos this builds tryna preserve as much as I can of the original case. Thanks guys.

Sorry, no idea which forum to post this, I'm in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs, and built my first PC just over a year ago and really want to try more with building PC's. I'd love to build my own case or desk and watercool a PC in it, but having 0 experience with these things, and not wanting to fry $100's-$1,000's of PC parts would love if someone was building a Watercooled PC, and would allow me to come watch, assist, just to get some idea on how the whole process works. I am doing an extreme watercooling build for a senior project and I have realized I don't have the money for a new case. I have a Nanoxia Deep Silence 6 White. It's pretty good for water cooling and I plan on doing some mods so I can stuff a few monsta radiators in there. I was planning to do a white and silver build but my motherboard is an MSI X99 Godlike and I have decided to go with the red and black-badass,dragon look. I'm also planning to install a sidepanel. Heres what I plan: paint it a charcoal black/grey paint an MSI dragon on the side.

i want to put a frosted acrylic panel in my hdd area and psu area. the one in psu area can be permanent but the hdd area cant because i will need to assess my ssd and hdd. any ideas?

Hi all. Long time reader first time poster. First case mod I've attempted, very happy with how it turned out. Done over 3 weeks. It was / is a Hewlett Packard Model 150A Oscilloscope manufactured on the 28 - 8 - 1958. (so said the circuit boards) I found it on Ebay. I originally wanted a vintage military radio but this was to perfect to pass up. It was never going to run again (the cathode ray tube wasn't in working condition and it was missing a lot of the power supply parts), so all of the tubes and boards were listed on a few vintage radio sites saying that they were free to a good home, the majority of which have been collected. Does anyone know a good PC modding that ships worldwide or is Australian. I want a sort of big range or things (water cooling parts, straight tubing, paints, primers, glues ect) Also where (apart from here) is the best place to buy second hand PC parts? Thanks in advance.

Hello, and thanks for visiting my topic:) So I bought a Silverstone Temjin TJ07b-w USB3.0 case a little while a go, and I'm going to make a watercooled Z87 system in it. Here are some of my plans: 1. 360mm front radiator (this will be the main focus on this mod log) 2. Cable management holes 3. Cleaning up ugly holes that silverstone makes in my case 4. Paint everything black (not sure what texture) 5. Maybe removing top 2x120mm fan grill and putting a clear plexi window there 6. Put some 3,5" drives somewhere 7. Cool stuff you guys suggest!
