  1. The build is complete! Here I will post the story of building this labour of love, and cover some of the pitfalls I ran into and creative details of keeping as much of the original minifridge features as I could. If you're after only the final build, look no further than this post! If you'd like the full story, read on as I build up this thread.
  2. Hello Community It was quiet for a long time but there is still a project for the CMWS22 at the end of the year... Since this championship has been suspended for the last year, it is even more difficult to deliver this year, because everyone is really keen on the event. This year we will compete with a tower mod, but I'm more into scatchbuilds, so I just don't have the time this year. As you can see from the title, the project is called n°79, some of you might know that the number 79 stands for the precious metal gold in the periodic table. The case is a Cooler Master MasterCase SL600M a really nice and spacious case, since I am already a bit more advanced in modifying the case I can only show you the first draft this was created about a month ago when the case arrived and the planning of the entire project started it showed that this can not really work so there were changes. The colour concept should correspond to the theme of gold, black and grey, it should not appear too overloaded, so the case retains its colour and is "only" modified and gets accents of gold. The concept with the PSU at the bottom of the case and the turned tray remains, but for reasons of space the tray is moved a little to the middle of the case and the GPU moves to the other side, so it can be longer and thicker because the sheet metal wall of the case is cut out at the back so that the GPU can breathe. In addition, the glass panel can remain and does not have to be redesigned. Since the case only supports 360mm radiators on the upper and lower side, my idea is to place them at the front and rear, since this way it is easy to get to the connections to connect all cables in the lid and thus they are not visible and can be led out at the top of the rear, but this requires a rough intervention in the entire case structure. There are 2 large 200mm fans included in the scope of delivery, which go into the rear and ventilate the radiator and hardware inside. I don't want to reveal too much, so here are some photos of the hardware. As already mentioned, the Cooler Master MasterCase SL600M in the grey version The whole thing is powered by a Cooler Master Masterwatt 650, although I'm not sure yet whether that will be enough and whether I won't stock up on this one, which was lying around at home and offered itself to me. The fans to be mounted in the front of the case are not RGB fans but still very high quality, namely the Cooler Master Masterfan SF120M. The mainboard used here is an MSI MPG Z690 Edge Wifi DDR4 Ram and SSD this time come from a Swiss company called S3+ The CPU here is an Intel® Core™ i5-12400 processor. At this point I would also like to thank all the sponsors MSI, Intel, Cooler Master, S3+ and of course my Tam the Italy Extreme Modders! More updates will follow soon stay tuned
  3. So, I build this PC a while ago - the Killer Panda PC Let me show you the before pictures, what we are working with here: The parts before: Asus Maximus Code X Z370 motherboard Intel i5 8600K Der8auer Advanced Edition CPU OCed to 5000 MHz 16 (2x8) GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 2400MHz CL10 RAM (OCed to 3000MHz) Zotac Amp Extreme GTX 1070 graphics card Corsair Force MP500 120GB NVME SSD for boot 500 GB HDD for media (I draw a lot) 1TB WD Black for games 240 GB SSD for editing video (I do that too) Corsair ML120 120mm fans (14 of them!) Phanteks 120mm Halos Lux fan frames HW Labs Nemesis GTS 240 white radiator EVGA SuperNova G2 750watt Gold PSU Koolance 702 coolant All sorts of wire extensions to make it pretty. A panda sticker A blood spatter sticker Bamboo tape It's an absolute awesome PC to use But it's starting to show its time, mostly because of the 1070... Pretty damn bad timing! But I found sort of an okay deal, soooo.... Yes, I bought a RX6800XT And THAT's why I need to re-arrange things, because this graphic card is MASSIVE (the weight alone is 1.815 grams, as in, almost 2KG) Let me show you what I did...
  4. Not the fastest one, not the fanciest one, not the most silent one, not (yet :D) an RGB-Beast - but maybe something unusual you like: What´s that Mess? I was kind of fascinated with Gaming RGB Wall PCs and those "Teared-Down iPhone" Art Picture Frames (Gridstudio?), so I thought it would be nice to mix those Ideas and create something like a "Wall-Laptop" myself... Since I currently don´t have the budget for a big Gaming PC or something like that, it´s supposed to be more like a "daily driver approach"... Here´s the Hardware, some I had lying around anyway, some I bought: Mainboard: From a Dell Latitude 5290 (Core I5 8250u 4c/8t) RAM: 24 GB (still had those lying around, that´s why it´s to different modules) SSD1: Samsung 980 1TB (yeah I now, PCIe 4.0 SSD is kind of wasted with a Board that old, but I currently don´t have any PCIe 4.0 capable Mainboards) SSD2: 2 TB SATA Samsung 2,5" SSD3: 480 GB M.2 SATA (Goes into the WWAN Slot since I saw that it was listed as SATA in the BIOS) Screen: Just a 5 inch HDMI-Screen with 480p Resolution (will be more like a 2nd Screen for Status Information etc...) Wireless: M.2 WIFI 6 (Some AX200NGW Card) ESP8266 Mikrocontroller: This will take care of RGB later on, flashed with the (sooo coool) WLED Firmware, so it can be controlled via WiFI, the Laptop will only Provide Power via USB It was really nice to see that the Board can use M.2, SATA and WWAN SSDs at the same time... The First Try: Since the Mainboard is USB-C Powered, I just needed to connect a USB-C Dock, and configure the BIOS to start on AC. The Mainboard HAS a clickable Power Button onboard, but it´s on the back the way i´ve build it (left side, at the white LED)... The connectors to the Monitor (USB and HDMI) where 90 degree angled and connected via flat cables (see first picture). Since the Screen does not need that much Power, those were the most space saving connectors (originally for FPV drones I guess) and did not look like a classic "cable"... By the Way: See the SSD hanging from the SATA Cable? That´s all what´s inside a Samsung 2,5" 2TB SSD So it started - what´s next? Well, I works, attached to a USB-C PD capable Monitor and I´m writing this on it and using it for Web, Office, Streaming Stuff with Windows 11...And it hangs on my wall with a (quickly) 3d-Printed Frame (Size is about 40x30cm), The Speakers are currently not connected as I cut too much of the cable form the Original Speakers and would need to buy a Speaker Set or a fitting plug and put everything together myself... On the top left will be the ESP8266 Microcontroller and I still need to 3d Print some covers on the left side... But will there be RGB? Next steps will be the RGB, The 3D-Printed "Miss Minutes" (from the Marvel Series LOKI) will be illuminated AND work as a simple analog Clock (the outer Ring has 12 LEDs, so I can at least Cover the hours and every 5 minutes) and behind each of the 2 SSDs and the Screen is a hole in the Backplate, were some kind of LED Strip will be. And all controlled via the ESP8266 controller with WLED . I even thought about putting an small "Infinity Mirror" behind the CPU FAN (the hole in the backplate is already there :D) but I guess the effect won´t be as big... So If you´ve read until here: 1) "Thanks a lot, seems that it was not as boring", leave some comment on my strange Idea 2) Any thoughts what Windows Software I could use for showing some Stats on the small screen? Something easy to configure and low power for showing CPU-Load, Free-RAM, Available "Disk"-Space, Temperatures etc. Regards from Munich, Germany! P.S. that would be such a cool Wall-Art project with a Mainboard from the Framework Laptop... Smaller, "cleaner", much faster - not as much SSD Connectivity (but with PCIe 4.0 Support).. .:D
  5. I am building a new computer, but it happened that I ran out of money for the construction without the case (the economic crisis in my country is not helping either), so I had to improvise on a case from HP that I already had. As you can see in the photo, there is not much space left for the HDs, because I had to cut the bays, and I also have nowhere to put the extra cables from the power supply. I chose to use the "custom" watercooler because I already had the parts at home and also because AM4 aircoolers are very expensive for me. I would like suggestions for how to secure the hard drives inside the case and also suggestions for improving the construction. (The power supply is not located at the bottom of the case, it is the motherboard that is mounted upside down)
  6. Hello guys, I made this mini PC with a Ryzen 3400g, since DeskMini's are hard to find around my region. I did everything using a single 50x50cm 3 mm PS sheet, sawn, drilled, and then glued with cyanoacrylate. For the PSU I used a FSP300-60SGV. Everything is pretty crammed, especially the PSU cables and the usb and front audio, maybe I should have made it a little wider. The motherboard is screwed directly to the back of the case, without spacers. The PSU is mounted in a way that increases rigidity, with a screw on the side/bottom. There is a small slit on the back side so than the hot air can get out. Temps are usually below 65 °C, when gaming it can reach 85 °C. Dimensions: 25 x 24.5 x 9cm It doesn't look very polished but I'm proud of it, planning on an improved version already. More pics:
  7. I'm looking for ideas on how I can approach covering a case (a Fractal Design tower) with my collection of Japanese candy wrappers. The candy wrappers are of various materials like thin metalized plastics (like a potato chip bag), paper with wax or plastic coatings (candy bar outer wraps), carboard, etc. I suspect I might need a different approach for each kind. Has anyone tried this kind of thing? I don't know if I should use glue, or thin double-sided adhesives, epoxy of some kind. Tnx.
  8. Budget (including currency): €€€ Country Netherlands Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: hdmi switching, Special survey equipment, NMEA bridging with nautical equipment, chart computer, electrical System monitor, engine management, nautical memerie ,Livestreaming 24/7 Other details Well ahoy tech wizards of the internet. I have a plan to integrate my gaming pc with the systems i have onboard however placing my current case takes up room and is at danger of tipping over when under sail. Now my idea was to make a pc case on the roof making my motherboard horizontal. However due to headspace concerns i need to have the graphics card horizontal aswell, it also needs to be secured properly to prevent any connectors breaking My plan is to construct a case out of MDF wood and plexiglass and some extra fans and mesh to prevent dust coming in I'm looking for some pointers and advice regarding securing the board properly and protecting it from damage sailing may cause, the pc would also need to be able to run on a generator would i need a APC for that or am i good to run it straight on the ships 16a net I got a 600w power supply im running a amd processor and i got a rtx 2060 installed (old i know) and i think i got a mini atx motherboard with 2 PCIE slots and 16gb of ram Any help or designs would be appreciated i will post pictures of the current setup later as im currently at sea right now
  9. A few years ago I hydrodipped an Xbox 360 (see post below) and afterwards a friend saw it on my entertainment center and said she would love to have it done on her computer with her favorite colors black, purple, and gold. She'd just received a Dell prebuilt system from her parents and loved the hardware but wanted a different case. I agreed to do the work for her, and looked for a case I thought would be fairly easy to tear down with glass sides (her choice). We settled on the Phanteks P400 because it looked really simple and fit right in her price range. Now I'm not going to lie, I didn't do all the work at once I tore down the case, and sat on it for about a month while life got in the way, then eventually started taping and masking off panels before finding a tub that would work for me, and these photos are from a couple years ago when I did the work I just forgot to post them. The original plan was to mask off the sections, along with the skeleton, then reassemble the case and dip it entirely as one piece like I did with the Xbox to get no breaks in the pattern but I couldn't find a tub big enough that would hold enough water and be deep enough not to spill over when the case went in so I just did each panel individually, which I think worked out pretty well. On the face panel, however, if you look close, I didn't work fast enough and the semi dry paint trapped water leaving bubbles in the paint, the friend thought it was a cool detail, I learned to move a bit quicker. On top of the dip I spray painted the side panels screws gold, painted the PCI covers purple, repleced the rivets holding the case together with black painted screws and added the Phanteks LED kit so the power indicator and case lighting could match the paint scheme as much as possible. Piecing the components together in the new case was a lot of fun, Dell, somehow, requires that you use the original power button on their motherboards, and being that this was a couple years ago I don't quite remember how I got around this, although I think I left the original button tied to the board tucked it into the PSU basement and fashioned a jumper that allowed the case power button to work, real pain in the neck. Hardware is, i7 7700k, Dell OEM GTX1070, 16gb noname ram, and an upgraded (from the Dell OEM) Rosewill PSU. I apologize in advance for photos being it multiple comments and if they come in out of order, 20MB per attachment is a pretty lame upload limit.
  10. Hey guys! Some time has passed since I posted in these parts of the internets since I mostly hang out in swedish forums such as SweClockers.com. After spending some time here in the last few days though I can definately tell that I've been missing out. Such amazing and interesting builds and so much inspiration all over. Enough blabbering, I came here to tell you about my new project: BLUE FRACTALS by BMAWN INTRODUCTION Hailing from a cramped apartment of a hard-working soon to be 23-year old I am going to do my best to bring you my most ambitious custom build yet. Some of you might've seen my previous project; Dark Knightmare. This build let me in the championship class of the Dreamhack Casemod Championship and allowed me to share the stage of some of (in my opinion) the best modders in the nordic region. ABOUT THE PROJECT Blue Fractals will be a different build in a number of ways. Firstly I am going to build in a mITX case for the first time, the case of choice is the Fractal Design Nano S which will be modded to fit an mATX board. Fully watercooled with a GTX1080 and a 7700K I am excited to create a small computer which definately packs a punch. Some panels of the case will be replaced with either acrylic panels or tempered glass panels, depending on availability and implementation possibilities. Even though I want to use the latter its probably going to be the former, but we'll see. The GPU will be horizontally mounted. Lately I've seen a lot of build implementing this, I've had my GPU mounted like this in my daily driver inside a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Glass and I see no reason not to implement it into the next build since it looks awesome. This time around I'll be making my own custom cables with sleeving, although I am getting all of the stuff needed from Icemodz.com. After using glass tubing in Dark Knightmare I'm happy to return to PETG tubing this time around, although using glass was a learning experience I appreciate the flexibility and versatility of PETG. Something special for this build is that I am going to control the lighting in the case via a microcontroller. The microcontroller in question will be an Arduino Nano and the LEDs will be the Adafruit DotStar APA102 LED strips. This will allow me to control the lighting howewer I want and choose, and it will also force me to learn how to work with and program the Arduino. With no earlier experience with microcontrollers I am excited to see how it turns out. A bonus feature will be the ability to control the lighting via WiFi or bluetooth, depending on whatever I can get to work. This is a summary of some of the things I am aiming to achieve with this project, but some things might change throughout the course of the build. Critisism is appreciated and encouraged, whether if its about my photos or the way I choose to write this project log I want to hear it. Other than that, I am absolutely excited to get started on this project and I can't wait to see the end result. That's all for now, until next update! // Oskar
  11. After looking around on the forum I finally got the time to post this buildlog. It is a build I did together with a friend for MSI, with the help of Corsair and Intel. This build is all focused around not having a too flashy system yet still have a great looking rig. So because this is 2017 and not 2016 more, RGB function still is nice but having a stealth pc is more our thing. The name of the project was thus made Black Matter. The parts of our project you will see later, but let’s start off with the renders:
  12. Hi Guys, My name is Shane and I am a first time poster, new to the forum and wanted to start a work log on my upcoming build in Thermaltakes Core P5. Its around 3am here and I have been drawing up some draft sketches and non scale drawings on my graph pad to render some ideas for how this things will go together. Concept: Create an infinity effect as the back plate of the Core P5, but not just the surrounds but accent each component with its own infinity effect. System Specs; Thermaltake Core P5ASRock Fatal1ty Z270 K6 GamingIntel i7 6700KEVGA Geforce GTX 970 FTW+ ACX2.0Cougar GX800 PSUApacer 480GB M.2 Apacer 240GB SSD16GB T.FORCE DARK DDR4 3000mhzCustom Sleeved CablesFully Watercooled with Alphacool components. The idea will be to place a new back plate over the existing case, add in the infinity effect using mirrored acrylic and component platforms to accenting each component. I haven't decided if I want to use MDF or Ply Wood or rather a combination of both. Follow this post to stay up to date! You can see the photo of the effect below. Follow us on Facebook to check out any new and upcoming builds. * If you would like to jump on board with this build. It would definitely be appreciated. You can contact me below via email or facebook. Thanks Everyone, Shane Rayson @: shane@hextechmods.com W: www.facebook.com/hextechmods
  13. hey guys i've had an question adout led lichtning kits. does anybody have expirience with the nzxt sleeved LED kit inside of the h440?
  14. Just finished my most recent build, and wanted to share it because I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 1700X Cooler: CM 212 EVO w/2 LEPA 120mm Chopper Fans MOBO: ASUS Crosshair Hero VI VC1: ASUS Strix GTX 1070 8GB VC2: EVGA GT 740 Superclocked Single Slot 4GB RAM: GSKILL 16GB 3200Mhz DDR4 RAM HDD1: Toshiba OCZ 256GB RD400 NVMe M.2 HDD2: Seagate Firecuda 2TB 3.5" SATA Originally, I photoshopped together this image to plan out what I wanted the case to look like. I wasn't able to get a useable image of the exact vinyl wrap that I wanted, but I found some carbon fiber print of a similar color, so I went with that. Just laying out some of the parts. It made me feel like I was doing something while I waited over a month for the motherboard to show up. The vinyl I chose had a cool chameleon mosaic look that I hadn't seen on another case before, so I went with it. Applying the vinyl wrap. It didn't stick as well as I would have hoped, but I kept pressing it down when it separated, and eventually the glue dried up enough to stay. The NZXT H440 has a lighted NZXT badge on the basement of the case, and I had the idea when planning the build that I could make a different plate with my Steam gamertag logo on it that would be backlit with some LED strips. First I cut the strips to length and soldered in a section of 4-wire LED strip power wire in between the two strips, so that I could use one connection to power both strips. You can see them installed here. The Crosshair Hero VI has 2 RGB headers on the motherboard, so I just connected the strip to one of those, letting me control it through the Aura software instead of having to mess with one of those janky USB connections that you have to open the case when you want to change lighting colors or patterns. The adhesive hated the case here as well (probably has something to do with the anti-dust coating on the NZXT H440, but the logo plate was going to be held in place with magnets, so I figured it would hold this as well once it was installed.) I cut the plate out of 1/4" sheet of polycarbonate, then bead-blasted it to give it a diffuse, foggy effect against the backlighting I had already installed. Then I printed out my logo on regular paper, covered it with a single layer of clear packing tape (which also held it in place against the vinyl I stuck it to), and carefully cut out the logo with an X-ACTO knife. Once I had stuck all of the vinyl pieces to the plate, I stuck some cheap strip magnets from Wal-Mart on the back and installed it to the case. And a few BIOS flashes and software installs later, it was complete. Again, not perfect or award worthy, but I was able to get it pretty close to my original vision, and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. (Don't mind the messy cabling behind the case, I'm planning to velcro tie and cable manage the shit out of it when I have a spare evening, lol. Decided to go with the blue color for the logo since a second pump failure on the Corsair AIO cooling loop (and a current lack of overclocking headroom for Ryzen) convinced me to go back to air cooling, and I found some Blue LED fans I liked the looks of. Anyway, just wanted to post this up to see what everyone thought. Happy modding!
  15. Introduction I guess I should properly introduce myself first of all. My name is Randy but I go by the nick of Mech_Cheese pretty much everywhere. I've been around anything tech related since I was a kid and have just now decided to take on my first actual case mod. I have painted cases and thrown decals on other cases but I didn't consider that a mod. I hope no one minds if I post a link to Medium which is where I typed up my build log, or as much of it as I could, and put all of the pictures. If that is an issue at all then I will be happy to transfer it all to this post. A little background on the project I acquired the XPS quite some time ago and for a while it was my daily use PC, that is until one day it decided it was done and would no longer post after a restart. I put it up in the attic with intentions of getting rid of it at a later date but luckily that day never came. I had seen another XPS case mod and that got my gears churning with ideas so I lugged the beast of a case back out of the attic and got started. I was going to start with the BTX to ATX mod and then basically throw a decent paint scheme on it and be done but it turned into quite a bit more. Please feel free to leave any opinions on the project and I want to give a special thanks to my buddy from twitter @ReviewsByGarry for suggesting I migrate over here and post this. 16. 2017 CaseMOD Invitational Season 1 has started, here is one of the mods Chaipoj Khaowasut representing Thailand previously did, which I absolutely like! Seems like every "big" device is becoming smaller and smaller, while TV's are getting thinner and thinner. The future is awesome! http://community.thermaltake.com/index.php?/topic/63808-pre-event-predictions/
  17. Greetings! This is the start of my new project with the name of Monore. This project is going to be based in the Jonsbo UMX3 case and the whole build will circle around its clean & sleek look. I would like to start with a huge thank you to my sponsors for this project. Ocaholic Seasonic Jonsbo Gigabyte Noctua The Components: MOBO: Gigabyte Z170M-D3H CPU: Intel i7 6700k GPU: GTX 980Ti RAM: Kingston 4x4GB DDR4 SSD: TBA PSU: Seasonic Snow Silent 1050W CASE: Jonsbo UMX3 FANS: Noctua COOLING: Bitspower & Watercool The Project: This build is going to consist of various modifications, although some of them may not be declared at this time, this PC is going to stand in as my editing/main computer, therefore it will be equipped with high-end hardware and a full watercooling loop to keep the temperatures low. The case bottom compartment is going to be remodelled to house a 240mm radiator, a vented shroud is going to cover this part to keep the case as simplistic as possible. As I might run into trouble with the PSU mounting method with my ambitions for the case, this will most likely be altered too. Numerous small covers and shrouds are going to be created around the build to soften the esthetics of the build, as I want it to be elegant and simplistic. The colortheme for this build is going to be a bit interesting. I've chosen to go for a full black build with accents of beige (As in Noctua's fan frames). The PSU from Seasonic will be getting sleeved in beige and black aswell to fit the build even further. My plans are to paint and modifiy the outsides of the PSU to get rid of the white panels. As I stated earlier, many of the modifcations are not 100% decided at this time as a lot of ideas evolve as the build is being created. That's all for my introduction, here are a few pictures of the base components of this build! That is all for this introduction, next week will be packed with a more ellaborate view of the case and hopefully a few other components. See you then! -August Lindgren
  18. Hey all! Last Thursday, I created a post regarding using a 2005 Apple Powermac G5 Case for my new gaming and editing rig, which can be found here: But today I have three new questions regarding the use of this case for my needs: This question regards the front IO on the G5 case. How would I be able to hook up the front IO (Power, Headphone/Mic, USB and firewire) to an ATX motherboard? (specifically the Asus X99 Deluxe II) Secondly, would a Gigabyte Geforce G1 GTX 1080 GPU fit within the case using this rear ATX conversion mod (http://www.thelaserhive.com/product/g5-atx-kit-psu-holder/)? What are the dimensions of the case and card? And lastly, how would I go about making the apple logo on the side panels glow white when turned on, just like macbooks Thanks all again for taking time to answer! I will create a build log and video log when I begin this build, and I will post here for y'all to see!
  19. Hello LTT Community, i have a plan for a casemod. i want to have my pc in Left of me on the desk, and I want to see the pc through the window There are some cases where the motherboard is just flipped upside down but I'm autistic because I want to read the text straight, I want to put the front of the pc on the back and make some sort of a door where the io and GPU are also I want to turn around the top panel so I can have the front io also on the front, Do you guys think that this is possible or do you think that it is not possible? Thanks, ~Sven
  20. So, I'm making a high end build that's RGB and I already picked out my case, and I really am set on it, but then I watched a video with someone who had a white interior for their RGB build inside their case and I thought it looks a lot better than black with RGB. The only mid ATX case I could find that had a white interior and that had the features I wanted was the nzxt s340, but I MUCH prefer the phanteks P400S TG: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811854054 so, my question is: if I wanted to paint strictly the inside of the case white, what paint should I be using? (Obviously trying to not increase thermals and have zero electrical conductivity in the paint here)
  21. Hi Tectippers! This is the second mod my son and I are working on together, the first mod we did together was a Camaro themed build and was 100% my sons concepts. This time its my turn to choose the theme so what better than my favourite film Bladerunner. I have been watching all the news and hype surrounding the sequel to the film and am now very excited to see how the plot possibilities pan out. I have been in and out of hospital receiving treatment for the last months which has rekindled my love for modding as less mobile. While in the hospital for a week bored out of my mind I taught myself how to make the origami unicorn from Bladerunner. That was when I started thinking about a concept for a build. Normally you might think a Bladerunner theme would be jet black with red accents with perhaps a grungy dark distopion feel to match the atmosphere of the first film. I suppose I just liked the metallics of the unicorn and decided to go with a more cleaner metallic feel more inline with the new film and with the origami. There are no sponsors for the build sadly so have managed to scrounge about for parts in the garage and buy in what I could to get the ingrediants for mix. Using a Thermaltake Core V21 as the case and I think nearly all the main manufactures of watercooling parts for the cooling a real colab affair! I really do love the Thermaltake Core v21 as it is such a dynamic case with its swap-able modular sides and front leaving lots of variation options for the enthusiast and designed for a matx system. The other driver for this build is showing your respect to your elders, my son took a lot of inspiration from Jp Modifieds work on his design, so we talked about who did I look up to in the modding world? I still think today my favourite casemod is still Orac 3. Its the case that got me into modding and blew my mind as to what was possible. Back then it was all flashing fans (back in fashion) and what you could do with a beige case.So the goal Bladerunner with hints of Orac as a bit of a love letter to Gnome
  22. Greetings people! This will be a somewhat "quick and dirty" build that I was hired to build for a fellow Dane. I have not been able to share any pictures until now, so lets get some work in progress, and other stuff running! First a little teaser of what will come of this thread! I am going trough my pictures and video as I type this, so updates will come as I get them edited. Since there is a great discussion about wolves in Denmark right now (They recently where spottet in the wild, and has been breeding) I thought it fitting to name the project accordingly, also since the color scheme is very alike. Specs: Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Glass Motherboard: Gigabyte AORUS K5 Graphic card: Gigabyte 1080 TI CPU: Intel 7700K RAM: 32 gb Klevv Cras PSU: Corsair HX850I SSD: Samsung 960 EVO 512 gb Watercooling: Waterblocks: EK Radiators: EK Fittings: Bitspower Fluid: Mayhems Pastel dark grey A big thank you goes out to EK, Bitspower and Mayhems for sending some parts for this build! Lets get started! First update here will be a few pictures of the hardware used. Choice of card for this build was the gtx 1080 ti. Great performance, and looks, but an absolute pain to take apart. Motherboard is the Gigabyte AORUS K5. No need for a super high-end board as the build will most likely never be overclocked. I do like the built in lighting, but the motherboard REALLY lacks a temperature in port. Not too flashy, just good looking. I originally planned to just use a stand alone CPU block, but saw that EK had this great looking full cover block that fittet the board. I was quite nervous for how the light was going to work out, as many LED's put into stuff like that is super bright and not at all diffused. This one was luckily super good looking when turned on! Really digg the looks of this block! The GPU got a full cover EK acrylic block and a silver backplate. I recently started using the silver backplates instead of the black backplates, with no regrets. They can really spice up a build! I really like that they have removed the DVI connector from this card. Single slot just looks so much better. Matches the board quite well. And also teams up quite nicely with the motherboard mono block. The two colors I decided on trying out. In the end, the left darker grey won. The fluid is the new grey pastel from Mayhems. Planning the layout of the build. And a little special something I decided to make! More will come soon! Thank you for reading:)
  23. any ideas on how to put a larger gpu into into a thinner case, i an thinking of running an extentsion from the PCI-e slot out of a hole i will cut into the sidepanelof the case and into a gpu, but any ideas on how to protect the gpu or maybe even an external chassis i could buy or build and bolt it onto the side panel. any help would be welcomed. thanks this idea is purely conceptional but i would like to implement it someday..
  24. Sup folks, I'm planning my new PC build named "A Faster Horse" (after the similarly named documentary, and Henry Ford's quote about horses or something). I want this PC to be car-themed, and more specifically Ford Mustang themed (plz no hate). I found an awesome model car to put in my case (see image), as it is chrome/silver (I know there's no such thing as chrome paint, I know chrome is a metal and not a colour, but I'll still be calling it "chrome paint") and will reflect case LEDs very nicely, I imagine. However I'm not entirely sure it's a good idea, as it's made from diecast metal, which is rather conductive (I think, I looked it up and it has a metal conductivity of 25%IACS - I've got no clue what that means). Of course it's got rubber tyres, so I'm not worried about it sitting atop the GPU, however I'm afraid it might roll off of the GPU and touch, say, the motherboard, and cause an electric short. So does anyone have any advice? Does anyone know what a metal conductivity of 25%IACS means? If you've got a diecast model in your case, I would love to know your experience! Thanks in advance! Regards, TJ Image:
  25. Hello first of all, my apologies if my post is on wrong place. Now i am trying to make a computer casing for myself with Steel. i have added the picture of it, sorry for the bad quality picture. my great g4 phone died on bootloop and do not have any decent phone to take pictures. And i have recently got a 3d printer ( http://www.zbot.cc/index.php?m=wenbon&a=a&t=product&id=9&l=en ) honestly when i ordered the printer i thought that it will be just putting a scetchup model in there and it will print . ( i blame my own foolishness for it ). Now i need help with some parts as i have spended hell lot of time making them with steel and milling but failed horribly. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=e0d95e23d68b5ecd50ca7be136df4e10 This the model i am following. i am stuck with cannons and top of the bridge part. I can get them as just components if any one need them. Would love some help on the subject. And again i am really sorry if this is not the place for posting this kind of post. thank you for your time
