Hello, I am working on a special build that has an aesthetic of a 60s/70s disco/blacklight poster. I have a general question about a RGB case lights. Can a RGB lights do a true UV black light like you would use to light up a poster or does it have to be limited to be specifically an only a UV black light? I am the same person that posted the build parameters but now I am just specifically looking for where I can buy the actual UVLED black light bar for the computer case itself. I don’t want to get one of those cheap strips, when you cut the length because they just look cheesy I am looking for something more like the type of a bar or you would mount on a wall but for a computer case. I tried looking on Amazon, but when I type in the parameters of UV LED black light bar for computer. It comes up with everything you would mount on a wall and that is too big to put inside a computer case. All suggestions appreciate it. Thank you.

Show off your RGB builds here!! Detailed descriptions welcome!! Best pics will be moved to OP and may change any time. Best pics moved to OP will have the most likes on a given page or pages depending on how many are submitted and convo in between. RGB conversation is welcome, But this is not a diagnostics thread. Please find appropriate section of the forum for diag thank you. (Because I don't have RGB. Let's see your's then.) GO!

Hi, all. I'm working on a custom case lighting system for Arduino and some WS2812B led's. For those of you who don't know, these are configurable LED's much like NZXT's HUE+ system. "Why don't you just use a Huie+?" You ask? Because I don't like it, and instead of moan and complain I decided to be proactive and devise my own fix. Advantages include cheaper and more widely accessible parts, full customizablity with various WS***** LED's and best of all it's all open source and based on an Arduino. This means a large community dedicated to solving issues or creating their own new light shows. I've put together a video of what I've developed so far. It's incredbily basic however I'm looking for coders to help me with a UI and further custom LED sequences.

So I plan on RGBifying my system (when I actually get around to building it) and I was going to buy this 5m RGB LED strip https://www.amazon.co.uk/JOYLAND-Flexible-Lights-Non-waterproof-Multi-colors/dp/B018UGHPJY/ref=sr_1_5? ie=UTF8&qid=1484679295&sr=8-5&keywords=5050+rgb+strip+300+12v and plug it into my motherboards (a GIGABYTE GA-Z270MX-Gaming 5) RGBW header. But I need a 4-pin extension to go from the motherboard header to the edge of the case. (A Corsair Carbide Air 240) Would this one work? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055OLY88/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2JSBUBRVPP4SX I know it's a "fan" extension cable but still. And, if it doesn't work, why is there no better way to classify different types of 4-pin connectors? I searched the internet for ages but couldn't find this question answered anywhere. Also, none of the parts for this build have even been ordered yet, I just like to plan everything ahead. EDIT: Could I use these https://www.amazon.co.uk/ESUMIC-Cable-Connector-Extension-Female/dp/B00XX41VD0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1484758371&sr=8-2&keywords=led%2Brgb%2Bstrip%2Bconnector%2Bblack&th=1 with these http://www.lightinthebox.com/5pcs-4pin-male-connector-for-rgb-5050-3528-led-strip-light-connect_p2772411.html?currency=EUR&litb_from=paid_adwords_shopping&utm_source=google_shopping&utm_medium=cpc&adword_mt=&adword_ct=152521494405&adword_kw=&adword_pos=1o2&adword_pl=&adword_net=g&adword_tar=&adw_src_id=8779303445_684979631_36793542842_pla-261296885252&gclid=CjwKEAiAwfzDBRCRmJe7z_7h8yQSJAC4corOTrqpuQ7yGG9HMWdqIi2gRZHZ4aCj8LWQvbNVMH2GHBoC-KPw_wcB instead of that fan connector?

Is there such a thing as an add-on RGB lighting product that is software controlled? I am looking for something to compliment my Strix 1070 in my otherwise lame, but tidy case interior. What are the best add-on RGB options? If ASUS would have made Aura compatible/synchronized case fans to go with the fan headers on these Strix cards, that would have been quite nice. I'd buy 2!

So both my wife and I have used CableMod branded LED strips (from MicroCenter). After almost a year of use, we discovered a few things. In my wife's case, the (UV) LEDs were bright/hot enough that the light beams have been permanently burned into the plastic components they were close to. The white LEDs in my case turned yellow over time and the clear rubber coating protecting the LED strip cracked in a few places and is effectively peeling off. For now, we've removed these LED strips from our cases. I'm looking for ways to go back into case lighting but with something that won't be producing so much heat that it will burn itself or things around it over time. What options do I have? I know what's out there, but I'd like some recommendations.

Hello everyone, So back in 2016 I bought a 10m RGB strip pack with it's own controller and remote for lighting underneath my desk. My question is since I see linus using RGB lighting all the time, is there a way that I can cheaply use any more of my strip if I bought something to connect to the end of a strip to receive power? I'm doing a build for my dad and he wants some sort of lighting inside the case. Thanks in advance for the advice! =) EDIT: Preferably I would like to hook the strip to a CORSAIR Lighting Node, with the additional fans I'm gonna purchase for the build!

Hey So, my current PC is built into a Phanteks Eclipse P400S case and I decided to go ahead and grab a Phanteks LED strip with it, It all worked great until about a month ago the LED strip and the little strip on the front of the case decided to go out of sync with each other, I don't mean in cycle mode either, though that is also the case, I mean, When I hit the button on the case to alter the color of the LEDs the strip will go to one color and the front LEDs go another. For example, when the interior strip is on Blue, the front goes Green. Most recently (as in 5 minutes ago) the front panel ones just stopped altogether. But, when I move the strip around inside the case to a certain point, the front panel ones work (still out of sync though)....

Look at how cool that looks.. but I've red the reviews and oh my god some of them are bad if you look close. Some people are getting shocked, other people are having wires burn out on them, etc. They're cheaply made by the looks of it. I can't find any other company that makes this style of cathode. What gives? Am I wrong? are the decent ones out there I'm missing? Even these ones are pretty darn hard to find too at least for a reasonable price.

Ok, so I just saw the new hue 2 ecosystem NZXT released at Gamescom... I am an avid customer of NZXT yet I struggle to understand the difference between the "upgraded version of the hue light-strips and AER RGB fans. As to the other accessories, they seem cool but the requirement of a new controller is unfortunate as they use the same connectors as the other accessories. The new controller has 2 extra slots and is made of anodized aluminum. From my chats with the support, the hue 2 is backward compatible with the hue+ light strips an AER RGB fans but the Hue 2 accessories fans and light strips cannot be in the same channel as the hue + accessories. A new feature with the light strips is individual control of LEDs which has been a feature I've been waiting for. After a lengthy conversation with one of their customer support representatives, I was able to confirm that the individual control extended back to the Hue + LEDs and was not just a hue 2 light strip feature. I've included the transcript of our chat below. Overall I had a great experience with the customer support team which gave me a more valid reason to get the new Hue 2 accesories. Hopefully they will be as good as their price would suggest them to be. (134 for everything except ambient lighting.) Chat started on 21 Aug 2018, 05:10 PM (GMT+0) (05:10:39) *** Ethan joined the chat *** (05:10:39) Ethan: Are the hue + RGB strips individually addressable with the new hue 2 controller or are the hue 2 strips the only ones with individually addressable LEDs. (05:11:01) *** Dominic joined the chat *** (05:12:24) Dominic: The HUE+ LED strips will work with the HUE2. The HUE2 strips will not work with the HUE+. (05:13:27) Ethan: My question is are the hue + led strips I individually addressable through software or is it only possible with hardware on the hue 2 strips (05:15:43) Dominic: Only with the HUE2 (05:16:31) Ethan: Do you mean hue 2 controller or led strips. (05:17:23) Dominic: The HUE2 strips are individually accessible only with the HUE2 controller. (05:18:09) Ethan: The hue+ strips are not individually accessible with a hue 2 controller? (05:21:56) Dominic: No, but they will still work with the HUE2 (05:22:06) Ethan: Ok... (05:23:18) Ethan: That Seems kinda silly since the hue + does effects that would require individual control and use the same 4 pin connector so why does it not work the same way? (05:30:52) Dominic: I was getting confused, sorry about that. I see now what you are saying. Like each individual LED that you can change. Let me double check and ask if you use the HUE+ LED strip with the HUE2 controller if you are still able to do that. (05:30:56) Dominic: Sorry for the mix-ups. (05:31:03) Dominic: Let me double check for you one minute. (05:31:04) Ethan: No pro let (05:31:19) Ethan: *problem (05:32:46) Dominic: Ok whew. (05:32:50) Dominic: So yes you will be able to (05:33:13) Dominic: Each individual LED will be addressable. (05:33:16) Ethan: Awesome, sorry to put you on the spot (05:34:18) Dominic: Haha, no worries. We are getting thrown a lot of questions on the new units, so it's a good thing. (05:35:15) Ethan: Great to hear you guys are managing it. I've been a long time customer and I just wanted to make sure that my 100$ worth of light strips weren't obsolete (05:36:10) Dominic: Yup understandbale! (05:36:15) Dominic: understandable* (05:36:32) Ethan: Alrighty thanks! (05:37:04) *** Ethan has rated the chat Good *** (05:37:31) *** Ethan has commented: Awesome job managing some tough and pointed questions *** (05:37:40) *** Ethan left the chat ***

Is there a way to use the rgb led strips that cable mod has if my asus motherboard does not have the special rgb header that they are including on some of their motherboards? How were these Rgb lights controlled before the introduction of the rgb header? Can I just connect it to usb?

Hi so i was thinking about purchasing n nzxt hue+ kit to light up my 760t and was just wondering if there any better alternatives out there that have the same hue function that the nzxt hue+ does?

My build is finally coming to an end. Even though it has been up and running for a couple months it's still not "complete". I have my two 980 water blocks and backplates in hand which were one of the last things I needed. However the final piece to this build would be the case lighting, which I'm having trouble deciding. So I figured I would turn to the forum to see what you guys think would look the best. I will be getting at least two 12" led strips (top/bottom) or possibly 4 (all sides). Should I go white (which fits with the rest of the build) ? Or should I go UV? ( would add some color and bring out the white sleeving and piping)? Also in some of the pictures the light coming from the fans looks blue but it is actually a white light. My build is coming to and end. The next step is to install the two EK 980 water blocks and backplates which I will do in the next couple days. However the final piece I need to order is the case lighting. I will be using at least two 12" led light strips inside the carbide 540 case but need some help deciding what color. Should I go white or UV for the case lighting? White would fit in with the build but I think the UV would add some color and make the white acrylic tubing and sleeved cables stand out. What do you think?

Hello, I have recently been looking into LEDs for my upcoming setup revamp, my only problem is that the LEDs that are currently on the market are pretty rubbish and don't offer what i need. I want to have an rgb led strip to go under my shelf on my desk but i don't want to have a remote at the risk of loosing it. I have included a simple model of how i want my setup to look. My idea was to buy an NZXT Hue and mod it to take power from the mains and to use led strips other that the strips included by nzxt but i am worried about compatibility between different makes. I am also worried about power because the power source i want to buy uses a different connector and the wiring may be incompatible for the NZXT Hue. Does anyone think this will work and if not what solution would you recommend?

So, I am looking at spending some money on some things, planning on moving my rig into a new case and doing a full custom loop, if I do I will definitely do a build log, but I have a question. What kind of case lighting will give me the most light for my money? I want UV, but I really want my case to GLOW, but at the same time have the lights be hidden so you can't actually them. The case I am looking at doing is the thermaltake Core X9. Thoughts? I was thinking cathode, but I don't like how they have those ugly boxes and what not. Also, does anyone know if the corsair purple LED fans will make UV reactive stuff...react?

I have asked a version of this question before and the responses got me so far, but this time it's with a twist. Drive activity LED driving/triggering a 12 volt LED strip to display drive activity in an extreme way. Would this idea work? Is it wired right? Any better idea's? it's not much but it's important to me. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. FQP30N06L MOSFET

I am looking at getting new White case lighting for my 900D I am currently using the NZXT Hue for lighting however it is dull and will not provide the good strong white color I am looking for. I was wondering if anybody knows a good solid case lighting kit i could order. I have looked all over amazon and YouTube for the past hour however all of the kits I find are ether cheep and unreliable or to dull.

Looking for a good way to get some LED lighting in my new case. Just transferred all my hardware to a Corsair 450D and would really like to add a nice LED strip or 2. Was thinking about using something easy like a USB LED strip but I am open to any suggestions.

So I just finished my build (or so I thought) and the inside of the case is not as bright as I thought it would be. I have never installed case lighting and don't really know what my best options are. My build is white and black in a carbide air 540 case. What I'm looking for is 12" strips of white leds that are dimmable. I have seen the RGB strips and would prefer to get those but I don't know if they can produce quality white light. What are the best brand of dimmable 12" white led light strips? Can RGB lighting accurately produce white light? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'm interested in adding hd / ssd activated led strips to my build. I'm aware all the sata drive activity case leds are run by the controller, but has anyone got any idea's how I could make each drive run their own separate leds / led strips?

I recently picked up two 30 cm Darkside red LED strips. Promotional videos mention they are dimmable and can be connected to a fan controller. What is the best way to control case lighting? I am planning on using a NZXT Sentry Mix-2 Fan controller. However, the fan controller does not let fans turn completely off. My 5.25 bay capacity is full, but is there a good way to control case lighting from a PCI slot that include off/on, dimming features, and does not have a plethora of colorful wires? The led strips use 2 pin connectors, but included are 30 cm 2 pin to 3 pin adapter/extension. I went ahead and the questions in bold for people who don't want to read all that. Thanks, RedPanda
