  1. Hey. Hope you can help. Powered up my pc today and noticed a vertical line going top to bottom on my screen. I can only describe it as a visual artifact. It flickers constantly. Only really noticeable on darker backgrounds. RTX 3090 connected to an LG C9 OLED via a HDMI 2.1 cable. I've updated the drivers in geforce experience. I've tried a different cable, and I've tried different hdmi port on the TV. The TV doesn't show the issue on anything other than the pc. There's only one hdmi port on the card so I tried a Display port to HDMI adapter and the issue has gone, but now it can only do 1080p 60hz. My guess is that the low res and refresh is a limitation of the adapter more than anything else, but it still allows HDR. What do you think? Broken hdmi port on the graphics card? Could I get a better display port to HDMI adapter to get 4k 120 VRR again?
  2. Hello Guys I turned off my pc and i saw that my gpu light is red. That ahould indicate a problem. But my pc is off. If i start my pc it boots normally and i can use my gpu normally. I thought its red because it doesnt get powered because the pc is off. Should i get worried? Is there a problem? I dont know where to start solve tbh. There isnt any qleds lighting on the motherboard.
  3. Hello, I bought a new Nvidia RTX 4070 (MSI VENTUS 3X OC 12GB DDR6X) from Best Buy last week and it's mostly been fine, but I've noticed strange artifacts that happen very occasionally. For the most part, everything is fine but sometimes when watching YouTube videos, I'll see a random black line kind of flash and go away very suddenly and that's it. Then I won't notice it. I probably only see an artifact like once a day. I thought it was just YouTube videos doing it, but I saw the same thing happen but white happen while I was playing Valorant. It's definitely not a big issue, but I just fear that something is wonky with this card. The only other issue I've encountered that I don't think is a problem with the card itself is that Spider-Man Remastered doesn't run as great as I would have thought it would. I have the 4070 with an i9 10900k and 16 gb of DDR4 ram. I'm trying to play on Ultra with Ray Tracing on "high" instead of "very high" and the game runs okay, but I get a lot of frame drops, usually around the 63fps zone and it gets noticeable sometimes. I figured the game would be flawless with a 4070. Again, this probably isn't an issue with the card. I'm mostly concerned about the random but not frequent artifacts. I forgot to uninstall my last GPU's drivers when I installed the 4070, but I ran DDU in safe mode and uninstalled the last drivers, and installed the new ones after the fact. I bought a new display cable. I still seem to randomly get them. The only thing left I can think to do is try a different PSU cable. My PSU is modular and I'm using the 8-pin connect that has a second 8-pin connecter attached to the same cable. Do note that my GPU only requires a single 8-pin connection and not the bigger one the founder edition card uses, so I'm not doing the thing where I'm using a single PSU cable to plug into both female connectors of the adapter cable. Lastly, I could try DDU one more time in hopes it's a driver issue somehow. Does anyone have any advice? I have until 09/26 to return my card, I'm wondering if I shouldn't risk it and just exchange my card with a new one while I still have time. Or if I should run DDU and assume this is likely a driver issue still.
  4. So I have an hp omen 15 with i7 9th gen and an RTX 2070 Max-q. I want to run photoshop with the intel Integrated gpu, but when i go to the graphics settings to change it it shows both, Power saving and high performance, as Rtx 2070 Max-q. Does that mean my laptop doesnt have an integrated gpu? or what? Screenshot: View: https://imgur.com/q1f9uRO
  5. AMD's Radeon RX 7700-XT and RX 7800-XT have been officially announced at GamesCom and it seems that AMD is coming to the rescue once again with more affordable GPUs in the mid-range segment. LAUNCH PRICING (USA): RX 7800-XT 16GB: $499.99 RX 7700-XT 12GB: $449.99 The RX 7800-XT is said to be targeting the performance of the RTX 4070, with the biggest wins coming in around 18% faster and the biggest losses around 22% slower. Its clear that the RX 7800-XT will be the favorable option for pretty much everyone. The drop in performance to step down to the RX 7700-XT is simply not worth the small $50 savings. However, keep in mind that every AMD GPU release so far has dropped in price. With the launch price of the 7800-XT being already $100 lower than the RTX 4070, I can't imagine it will drop much, but maybe slightly to $474.99 or something. But much more likely the RX 7700-XT will drop in price over time to make the RTX 4060-Ti 8GB and 16GB completely irrelevant if it can manage to match its price eventually at $399.99 while offering more performance and 50% more VRAM than the 8GB RTX card. AMD is also announcing FSR-3 with their own Frame Generation Technology to match Nvidia's DLSS-3. Hardware Unboxed seems to have the most in-depth information on this announcement and their video covering the announcement and so here it is:
  6. So I dropped a screw inside my graphics card... no way I can get it out, its one of those thumbscrews. It's to heavy for any magnetic screwdriver. anyone think it will be an issue?
  7. I got a Notification pointing to an old Reddit post from someone working at AMD Radeon 10 years ago. It provides us with some useful insight into why each company chooses a certain amount of VRAM for a certain product. Before you begin commenting about "Oh these companies are stupid and didn't give us enough VRAM..." - I agree, however keep in mind that development of RTX 4000/ RX 7000 began as soon as RTX 3000/ RX 6000 series finished releasing all initial products, back when 8 or 12GB of VRAM was still plenty for the vast majority of gamers. This does not excuse the problem, but you should give credit where it is due... COPY-PASTE FROM OLD REDDIT THREAD: I work for AMD doing product marketing in the Radeon division. I can answer your question: 1) Memory quantity is initially chosen by us, and is influenced only by two factors. First, how much it costs to equip every product sold with XYZ quantity of memory. Secondly, how much memory the board can physically accept with respect to the capacity of each chip and the space available on the board. We let partners add more if they feel like footing the bill. 2) Bus width determines how much data can be moved into memory per 1Hz of memory clockspeed. The clockspeed determines how many times that can happen per second. At any given clockspeed, a 384-bit bus will be able to move 50% more data than the same RAM on a 256-bit bus. 3) The width of the bus does not determine how much RAM can be installed, or how much RAM can be utilized. As an aside, it *does* determine how the memory chips must be installed on the board (e.g. in groups of 2 or 3). The number of textures (and their size) and the number of special effects ("shaders") determines how much VRAM is used. Generally speaking, the better the game looks, the more VRAM it will use. 4) The priority of GPU performance is: compute shaders* > memory bandwidth > GPU clockspeed > memory quantity. The importance of memory quantity and GPU clock flip if the VRAM is < 2GB. We equip our high-end boards with 3GB of GDDR5 on a 384-bit bus, and let partners add more. NVIDIA's guidance was to use 2GB of GDDR5 on a 256-bit bus. The end result is that at resolutions equal to or higher than 2560x1440, Radeon is better performer because the Kepler architecture runs out of VRAM *and* hits the limit of its memory bus. We can presume NVIDIA made this decision because most gamers are playing at 1080p, which doesn't highlight the limits of their RAM configuration. Our data suggests that our high-end customers are choosing higher resolutions, e.g. 1440p or 1600p (or Eyefinity), so we built the boards to fit those needs. \* NOTE: We call them Stream Processors, NVIDIA calls them CUDA Cores. //EDIT: Removed statement irrelevant to an example. SOURCE: https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/wtew1/could_someone_explain_the_significance_of_amds/c5gdv0v?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
  8. So I ordered my new Ryzen 7800X-3D build on Monday. I already have the package in my hands, Im just waiting for my new case to show up. However, NewEgg hasn't charged my Credit Card yet. There isn't even a "Pending" Transaction on my card. Is this normal? Is NewEgg really this slow at completing transactions??? I mean I guess it doesn't matter too much, its just freaking weird that I have received my Mobo, RAM, and CPU before NewEgg even charged me...
  9. So I recently decided to begin planning on building a new PC in the future. Ive been making multiple threads around the forums related to different parts of the new build. As far as this section goes (The GPU/Graphics Card), I had decided on an AMD RX 7900-XT after the $100 which made it an okay option in terms of value. I was interested in the AsRock Taichi edition for $849.99. Performance goals were 120FPS High Settings at my 3440x1440p ultrawide resolution, which the 7900-XT was perfect for and then some. However, I then found a listing for a used Power Color Red Devil 7900-XTX. The gentleman bought the card and then he decided he wanted an RTX 4080 instead. I ended up getting the card for the same $900 I would have spent on the Taichi XT after tax. He also had his Micro Center Receipt for it so I have nothing to worry about as far as the warranty goes. This new GPU is massive overkill for my needs as even the XT was slightly overkill, but I look at it this way: I will be able to completely max out every game ever made at completely maxed out Ultra settings at native monitor resolution with no upscaling or artificial boosters of any kind and I will still hit my goal of 120 FPS for many years to come. Now I still plan on upgrading the entire system including the monitor but it will be some time before I build an entire new system. Of course I don't want to just let my new card sit around in the meantime so I went ahead and installed it in my current system despite the fact that I am HEAVILY bottlenecked by the performance of my current CPU. While stress testing and testing OC on the new card I noted that I had to crank the older Unigine Valley to maximum custom resolution of 4096x4096 at absolutely maxed settings to even get 100% load on the GPU or else the CPU would hit a brick wall around 230-240 FPS. 10. From the album: My Build, the beginnings

This is a standing overview of my build. The NIC is an Intel one as I did not trust the Realtek NIC in my Motherboard. You see all that space to the right where I removed the 5.25" and 3.5" drive bays entirely? That is where the PS3/PS4 are going when I get to that part. :)

  12. Hello, I have a system I built back in 2017 and I'm wondering if this is considered good for what I have. I ran a benchmark on heaven 4.0 Gtx 1080 ti asus poseidon I7 6700k xmp profile and running at 4.6 16gb trident z ram Customer water loop. Temps are getting up to 68 C I feel like it is running too hot for a water cooled card that also has fans on it as well. And I don't really understand the settings in Gpu tweak, I just kinda raise them until it crashes lol. I really don't know much about overclocking so I have no idea what's good or bad or average. Any help is appreciated. I attached 3 pictures. Scores with 1080p and 1440p and also my gpu tweak settings. I just want to make sure this is safe to run in games and that nothing looks weird. Thanks!
  13. Just set up a raspberry pi NAS, and was wondering if using the 128gb SD card i have as storage for media will be okay until i get a proper drive in a month or two. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
  14. Hello, My grandma recently had problems with her LG A133 flip phone. This was due to filling up the sms/message storage, which resulted in the phone having problems sending and receiving these messages. After trying to find the problem, I found out that the only solution could be either deleting messages or to insert a memory card. I'm hoping that adding a microSD card, will get rid of the issue. But that is the problem I'm experiencing right now, as LG doesn't have a list with supported cards, only stating that the phone supports up to 16gb. But the specs sheet is saying that it can only have a card of 2gb. And online I'm seeing multiple people having problems with there cards not being recognised. So I hope that one of you, could recommend me a microSD card. Thank you in advance! -JV
  15. Hi, I have optiplex 760 specs Core 2 quad Q9400 8gb ram and r7 250 2gb. but I want to upgrade my card to gt 1030. I contacted shopkeeper he said that gt1030 will no work on optiplex 760 because optiplex 760 is very old. But Gt 1030 requires only 30 Tdp where R7 250 requires 65 tdp if r7 250 work fine on my then what is wrong with gt 1030 please help Thanks in Advanve
  16. Summary At the beginning of 2021 during CES (RIP), NVIDIA laid claim that they would be releasing a new generation of 30 series RTX graphics cards destined to have half the expected mining rate of standard 30 series cards in some misguided wisdom that this would make gamers happy. It has been just under a year since then and the mining community has managed to partially bypass the limits that would conventionally see around a 40 MH/s hashrate upped back up to around the 76-82 MH/s mark which results in around 67-71% of the potential hashrate on a RTX 3080 Ti from the around 45% it normally has when LHR is triggered. Article How'd we get here? This all begun somewhat unknowingly with the release of the RTX 3060. It was reported in early February by media outlets that these new cards may potentially be limited in hashrate. On February 18, 2021, NVIDIA officially announced that they would halve the hashrate for the GeForce RTX 3060 in the article titled "GeForce Is Made for Gaming, CMP Is Made to Mine". It wasn't until 3 months had passed that NVIDIA came out again looking to double down on their claims by publishing the article “A Further Step to Getting GeForce Cards into the Hands of Gamers”. Essentially this article states that NVIDIA would be lowering the hashrates on the newly released RTX 3080, 3070 and 3060 Ti graphics cards to make them less desirable to miners. These new cards would have the suffix LHR (Lite Hash Rate) to signify that they were limited. Just under 2 weeks after that article NVIDIA announced the RTX 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti, both of which had the rumour mill swirling with expectations that these cards would be limited in hashrate, once the cards made it into the hands of media, it was confirmed that these GPU's were in fact hashrate limited as well. You dare challenge me? Fast forward around 3 months worth of mucking around, running the numbers, checking them twice, crying again because it's 3x over RRP for a GPU, the mining community and more specifically lolMiner, a popular mining software platform available through GitHub, had released version 1.32a which contained the first version of a 'partial LHR Unlock'. This partial unlock, unsurprisingly, was partial and incredibly unstable on any platform that was not Linux based (take that, Linus). Even then it was far from usable reliably albeit the floodgates were beginning to open and it was only a matter of time before it got better. Subsequent releases from lolMiner have been largely focussed on improving the LHR unlock, this resulted in version 1.33 in the beginning of October to further improve the unlock performance and to also specify drivers to use as well. Mid October saw version 1.34 released mainly to improve on bugs found in 1.33 and again to improve performance. Mid November saw the release of version 1.36 which improved GPU compatibility as a whole and also contained auto-tuning modifications to assist in long term mining on LHR cards. From here the article quoted for this post contains a dual GPU test with 2x RTX 3080 Ti's that are both LHR cards. It gets very detailed and even includes the batch file flags used in the test along with their own refinements to get their desired hashrate using different specific LHR unlock methods as described on lolMiner's GitHub page on how to setup the LHR unlock. The summary of this was that in testing with the LHR lock enabled and triggered the GPU's would perform between 40 - 60 MH/s depending on spot performance, with the LHR unlock in use the cards performed to the tune of around 76 - 82 MH/s. One thing to note is that in testing of this on Windows, the software and stability as a whole was poor and requires a masochist attitude towards GPU overclocking, testing and improving stability of your own accord. While newer versions have drastically improved on performance since, lolMiner does still state that this is a partial unlock and in testing for each version of lolMiner, the LHR locks are still triggered and performance stagnates until the unlock is reset (automatically). Versions 1.34 and 1.36 were the most stable in the tests provided showing 3 and 9 LHR lock triggers respectively. According to 2miner.com (the publisher of the article): My thoughts It truly was a matter of time before the cesspool known as the Internet were able to break the LHR lock system. While it's not perfect, it does raise the potential for LHR locked cards to improve on performance in mining applications and makes it clear to NVIDIA that by putting arbitrary rules in place to limit people from doing things just makes those same people more likely to want to break the rules and do the things. Monke see monke do. While I do not condone nor endorse the usage of mining for cryptocurrency, I do believe in the right that the product you purchase should be able to be used however the user specifies, regardless of further implications. As it turns out the folks over at lolMiner have thought something similar, with improvements of around 1-2% per version, it's easy to see that the LHR locks embedded on NVIDIA cards will not last forever and it was a futile endeavour even from the start. 17. I have this GPU not tested it but after looking at the serial number and model number what GPU do you guys think this is.
  18. Before anyone says Google it, I did that ! now that's clear here's the issue, Memory card on my laptop is showing write protected I did diskpart "attributes clear disk readonly" also did a regedit of some drive policies and created a dword with name writeprotected with with hex value 0 also did checked lock on sdcard reader it's unlocked, checked multiple sd cards , also today i bought new sd card with card reader(non usb type) checked that too with multiple sd cards but still it shows write protected, can anyone Please help me with this its either the sd card slot on my laptop is broken or there is some settings on my laptop that I messed up, and I hope it's latter one!
  19. Hey guys! Two months ago I had to sell my Sapphire Nitro RX580 8GB to pay for some medication for a loved one. Like all the people in my area, I sold my GPU for like, 300$. I dont regret it, since that person now feels better than ever. Now, after realising how essential for my mental health gaming with friends is, during these times. I decided to buy a GPU so I can finally get back to gaming. The current GPU shortage just made the prices go even higher, and looking on insert romanian craigslist equivalent here i found a "presumably" dead RX580 4GB for sale, for 100$ The seller said he buys them in batch, either from mining rigs or , so he doesnt really bother testing them too much. It's interesting that he said the "GPU won't post on an intel system" but "might work on AMD systems or older DDR3 based intel systems" I have minor troubleshooting skills in terms of hardware, so I'm not sure how confident would I be buying this card and trying to fix it. Even if it sounds stereotypical, the dude on the phone sounds pretty old. The "I think the HDMI port from the motherboard will do just fine" kind of old. Would you buy the card if you were me? Is any card "forever" dead? EDIT: Seller says RGB and the fans turn on.
  20. I'm considering just getting a 5600XT or something for now since I can't find a 6800XT in stock, and likely won't anytime soon in the near future. So should I wait or should I just get an older card as a place holder? I want rid of this RX 470, like now preferably.

    Wifi card

I just got a new laptop but the internet speeds that i am getting are bad, but my dads old laptop gets good speeds there. Will swapping out the wifi card make difference?
  22. OK, so there's a bit of a debate about it recently and a few tech YouTubers have also given their opinion, so it's only relevant that some random nobody with too many posts on a tech-forum also gives theirs. I'll start off with what GCN cards AMD has released since 2012. 300 Series: R9 390X - Hawaii XT 2816 Stream processors based on GCN 1.1 R9 390 - Hawaii PRO 2536 Stream processors based on GCN 1.1 R9 380 - Tonga PRO 1792 Stream processors based on GCN 1.2 R7 370 - Pitcairn PRO 1024 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 R7 360 - Bonaire PRO 768 Stream processors based on GCN 1.1 200 Series: R9 290X - Hawaii XT 2816 Stream processors based on GCN 1.1 R9 290 - Hawaii PRO 2536 Stream processors based on GCN 1.1 R9 285 - Tonga PRO 1792 Stream processors based on GCN 1.2 R9 280X - Tahiti XT 2048 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 R9 280 - Tahiti PRO 1792 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 R9 270X - Pitcairn XT 1280 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 R9 270 - Pitcairn XT 1280 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 R7 265 - Pitcairn PRO 1024 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 R7 260X - Bonaire XT 896 Stream processors based on GCN 1.1 R7 260 - Bonaire PRO 768 Stream processors based on GCN 1.1 7000 Series: 7970 - Tahiti XT 2048 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 7950 - Tahiti PRO 1792 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 7870 - Pitcairn XT 1280 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 7850 - Pitcairn PRO 1024 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 7790 - Bonaire XT 896 Stream processors based on GCN 1.1 7770 - Cape Verde XT 640 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 7750 - Cape Verde PRO 512 Stream processors based on GCN 1.0 Versions of GCN and improvements GCN 1.0 - Initial release with the 7000 series in 2012, uses a SIMD (Single Instruction Multiple Data) arcitecture instead of the old VLIW design used in previous arcitectures like the 5000 and 6000 series. Each GCN compute unit totals 64 stream processors. AMD launched it as a long term building block for future GPUs, which is why they still use it today. GCN 1.1 - GCN 1.1 was a minor iteration that added feature support for TressFX and TrueAudio, and improved PowerTune support. Most of the improvements were compute and HSA focused for the APU side of things. GCN 1.2 - GCN 1.2 is a release we have only seen in Tonga and Fiji so far, the big focus with the release of the R9 285 was power efficiency improvements, AMD improved their instruction scheduling and added newer instruction support, the additional 16 bit Floating point & Integer instructions means that less power can be used on applications that do not need the mathematical accuracy of 32 bit instructions. The new Fiji GPU has a reworked memory architecture so it works with the HBM memory. Improvements in manufacturing So a term thrown around a lot is "refinements", unfortunately no-one has been too specific about the refinements but there are board level improvements and the process used has seen improvements. Both AMD and Nvidia have used the same TSMC 28nm manufacturing process since 2012, over time as the process matures the ability to produce big chips consistently improves, and performance consistency also improves. We get less leaky chips. Which means we can have higher stock clocks, better overclocking and the better chips achieve this with the same or less voltage than before, which leads to a lower average power draw. This is very similar to Intel's Haswell Refresh/Devil's Canyons (note how people are fine with this being called refresh and not rebrand?). The new cards have also received higher clocked VRAM, from 1250 to 1500MHz. VRAM AMD have generally been more generous than nvidia when it comes to VRAM in the past. This is still true for the most part, the Hawaii based products now offer 8GB of VRAM, AMD were saying a lot about Crossfire technology and have improved crossfire support in their new drivers as well, AMD would like people to pair multiple R9 300 series cards to play games at 4K and above resolutions and they've given us the framebuffer to achieve this, reviews have demonstrated that above 1080/1440p the R9 390 and the 970 begin to make more of a gap in the 390s favour and some games will cap out the 970s effective 4GB VRAM. They also offer a 4GB version of the R9 380 at a similar price to nvidias 960 4GB. Pricing Here I'll list the MSRP launch price of the products from the 200 and 300 series and the 900 series nvidia cards, a lot of people are saying you might as well pick up the 290X as it's very close to the 390X and is cheaper, which is true. You also need to consider that the 7970 was cheaper than the R9 280X until it went out of stock... very quickly. So if you want to buy you may want to buy now, as this will not hold true for long. Note I am only listing the 200 series cards that have a 300 series equivalent. 300 Series: 390X 8GB: $429 USD 390 8GB: $329 USD 380 2GB: $199 USD 370 2GB: $149 USD 360 2GB: $109 USD 200 Series: R9 290X 8GB: $459 (note: the 4gb price had been cut to around 399 by the time this card launched) R9 290X 4GB: $549 R9 290 4GB: $399 R9 285 2GB: $249 R9 265 2GB: $149 R9 260 2GB: $109 900 Series (including 700 series maxwell): GTX980: $549 GTX970: $329 GTX960: $199 GTX750ti: $149 GTX750: $119 Performance: R9 390X: This card is priced a bit lower and performs a bit worse than the 980, but will beat out the 970. I'll use GTA5 as an example here due to the cards high end nature.
