Hey guys, I'm really having a hard time decide between the Lenovo X1 Carbon 9th Gen or the Lenovo X1 Nano. I'm a real estate broker, I will use it to do more web browsing, watching videos and that's pretty much it. Maybe play league of legends once in a while, I love gaming but prefer to do it on a desktop with bigger screen. For sure I would not mind the extra inch on the X1 Carbon and the extra ports on the laptop. My budget is around max 2800$ CAD. Would like to buy it in the next month, open to suggestions but really like Lenovo laptops from everything I read and reviews. Those on the picture would probably be between the 4 Lenovo laptops I would choose from. Thanks in advance! Alex

Hello Guys, i got the old Laptop of my dad a few days ago. It´s a 5th gen Lenovo X1 Carbon (Prod. Nr.: 20HR002MGE if thats usefull). The device has a Synaptics WBDI - SGX Fingerprint reader that used to work just fine until i got it. The Laptop had a freshly installed Windows 10 pro and no I´m unable to set up my Fingerprint. What happens: I go to the settings menu to windows hello fingerprint. I type in my pin and get to the set up process. The LED above the sensor lights up in green. As soon as i touch it, it blinks yellow 3 times and then goes black. A few seconds after, the set up fails and Windows wants me to start it again, obviously with the same issue over and over. What have i done so far: I tried opening the device and reseating the cable I did an in Place Upgrade with the newest Win10 Version, keeping my files so it would just clean up the registery and the windows files. I reset the fingerprint data in the BIOS I ran Lenovos Update Programm, which updated the BIOS to the newest version I uninstalled the Driver from device manager and installed the newest one from Lenovos website (5.2.3540.26) I searched the Group Policies and set biometric authentification on for all users I enabled SGX in the Bios permanently I basically searched through all of google and tried everything that fixed the problem on other devices. I´m just really frustrated and want to get the Sensor to work. If you have some opinions of what I can try to get it to run, i would be very gratefull. With kind regards, Florian

Hey guys, I'm really struggling to take a decision for a laptop. I'm a real estate broker and would like something light and thin to work and well built because I will be carrying it around a lot. I'm a gamer but I think I will not play much games on a little laptop, I would prefer to play on my gaming desktop computer. I want something that will last me at least 4-5 years a not feel too slow. I like a good screen, image quality, nothing bulky. It looks like the keyboard on the Lenovo is pretty good also. My budget would be max 2000$CAD tax in. I'm hesitating between those two models below but I'm open to suggestions. I know the MSI is a gaming laptop, but it's not too big and it as a GPU compared to the Lenovo but like I said I much prefer gaming on a desktop with a big screen. There's a really good deal on the Lenovo also right now, instead of 4789$ it's 1615$. Hi, i recently got my first gaming motherboard, its gonna be my first build and im really exited about it, while looking at the drivers for the motherboard i saw a couple of notes and I couldnt find a lot of information about them so idk if I should even install them or not, I'd appreciate it if someone could help me out on this one, thanks. the first note i see says the following: "For Intel ME FW 14.X system." im using an intel core i5 10600ka, should i install the driver? there is also a part saying: "Please refer to the BIOS note to download the correct Intel Rapid Storage Technology RAID driver for your system. Include Intel Optane Memory." the motherboard does support intel optane tough I couldnt even afford an ssd so ill be using an hdd for a couple of months, i guess that might be important if im gonna be using an optane drive? thanks. EDIT: I forgot to mention, the motherboard is an MSI Z490 GAMING CARBON WIFI https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MPG-Z490-GAMING-CARBON-WIFI#down-driver&Win10 64

Hi everyone, I'm building a pc and I ran into a problem and i'm looking for replacement part. I was tightning the m.2 screw on the m.2 heatsink that came with the motherboard and noticed that the heatsink was not tight, I tighten a little bit more and snap, the screw broke into the standoff. I tried spare standoff and screw that i have and it looks like MSI is using a special type of screw/standoff. I looked everywhere to buy a replacement but no luck, couldn't find any. My motherboard is a MSI Z690 CARBON WIFI DDR5. The pictures shows the screws that i'm looking for. If anyone know to find a set, please post a link. Thank you for your help (sorry for my broken english, it's my 3rd language)

Hey LTT! This will be my very first case mod with a older case, i did some case modding before like painting, case floors etc but i never modded a case without any water cooling support what so ever, to a fully supported water cooling case. i did this pure for fun and to try out some modding with limited tools. all the bending was done by hand i did not have any tools for that, but most of the 2mm aluminium bending wasn't to difficult to do by hand. i used 2mm aluminium for these mods and some 3D carbon fiber vinyl for wrapping the plates. there will be a build log with this modded case as i'm planning to water cool in this case. i plan to use a 360mm radiator in the front and a 280mm radiator in the top and i might put another 120mm radiator in the back. i tried to get the best quality pictures with my phone so they won't be the Best quality you've ever seen alright enough talking and time for some pictures. original case: for more HERE After mods: for more pictures i made down the way click HERE

So, I was looking up some keyboard facts and noticed that I really haven't cleaned my keyboard before and decided to have a go at doing it. At the same time, I thought about wrapping it. Before I start, I have NEVER vinyl wrapped anything before and read that it's really difficult to perform on the blackwidow. So I wasn't really confident about it. Tools used: • Craft Knife ( £1.49 from a local DIY store) • Craft Mat (pretty cheap I think) • Steel Ruler (Around £2ish from the same DIY store) • 3D Carbon Fiber https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B015MYHD1C/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1505555863&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=silver+carbon+vinyl+wrap&dpPl=1&dpID=51mXlk2LPsL&ref=plSrch • Random Loyalty card not used. • Standard size screwdriver heads. • Cotton buds (Cheap from your supermarket) • hair dryer, heat gun. What I did: Tips/advice: If you want to do this, go for it! Just be patient and take your time. When taking off the shell, put light force away from the keyboard to unclip the shell from the keyboard. I did crack the shell in 3 places but the vinyl made it stronger. Take your time when using the heat source, and don't stretch it too much. Usually I used 5 seconds of quick sweeping across the area you want to bend around. Cut space around parts that clip into the base of the keyboard to make sure it pops back into place when finished. So yeah, my first ever wrap, went alright and my keyboard feels like it's brand new and feels good with a different colour. Any suggestions then give me a reply.

Hello. I currently own the Gigabyte H110M-A with the I5 6600K . I would like to upgrade my motherboard and i have $150 US to spend for a ATX Z170. I dont really have a color preference but anything black would go great. Like No Red or Green. Either Black with a little white or just black. Here are the motherboards i were looking at. Biostar Z170 $99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138421&cm_re=z170-_-13-138-421-_-Product ASUS AURA Z170 $140 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132877&cm_re=asus_aura-_-13-132-877-_-Product MSI Carbon Z170 $129 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130919&cm_re=msi_carbon-_-13-130-919-_-Product I like all them alot but the prices really affect me. I could save money and get the Biostar motherboard but if not then i like the other two alot.

I have an MSI x99a gaming pro carbon that just went out on me. MSI informed me that they have none in stock and need to send it for repairs. Since it'll take well over a month now, I'm just going to buy a new one. Do you guys have an suggestions to a comparable motherboard. I am a big fan of the rgb on the msi so that will be a plus. Thank you

Vinyl-wrapping my white NZXT H440 I haven´t really found anything about vinyl wrapping on this forum. So I thought I´d post this, maybe it helps some of you or gives inspiration. I just wrote this stuff down out of my mind, sorry if it´s in a weird order. So last week i collected some ideas out of my mind to execute on the weekend. One of which was to vinyl-wrap my pc case. 1 year ago i built a custom pc along with the NZXT H440 to showcase my interior. Though, i got bored of the looks. I have watched a lot of car-wrapping videos and stuff recently so i thought it would be awesome to do this with a PC case. Luckily, the H440 is a fairly simple case with plain, clean panels. So i went ahead and searched around on amazon for vinyl-wraps. Material choice: I didn´t want to spend too much money on something that i may fail at/i dont like, so i didnt choose some high-quality stuff like the popular 3M DI-NOC. I went for a relatively cheap black-carbon wrap with good reviews. After 2 days the (tall) package arrived and in addition to that i had picked up a scalpel for doing precise cuts (5 bucks). The materal is pretty thin, but cool looking. The surface is riffled, but there are no actual "fibres", which is expected at this price. It has some smell to it, though, the smell faded after few hours So overall this wrap seems pretty okay! First steps/practice: To be able to work properly, some equipment is needed. So i grabbed a - hairdryer - scalpel - ruler (not mandatory) - squegee (with soft material) - damp cleaning cloth I´ve never worked with vinyl wrap before so it´s a good idea to practice first, before messing up a whole lot of wrap. So i grabed a Zowie FK1 and tried to wrap it. I cut a piece of the size of the mouse + some extra material for curves and stuff. You dont want to have like 0.5 cm of missing material. And thats even worse on the big side panels of the H440. Bigger is better in this case. I worked along the mouse1 & mouse2 buttons until i reached the large curverture at the end. This was by far the most difficult part (maybe a mouse is not the best example to begin with in the first place) and i had to head up and stretch the material quite a bit. The streching and heating caused the pattern to strain, so be careful not to heat up the material too much. Eventually it kinda worked out so i took the knife and cut, beginning at the mouse1 & 2 buttons again. The lines of the body were easy to see so i just squeezed the knife inbetween the gap and cut along the line. But it became more and more difficult as i moved on to the curve of the mouse, ending up missing the gap and cutting at the wrong place (i´m a terribly impatient person) (which doesn´t really matter, because the matt coating of the mouse came off already anyways). So I removed the wrap completely. I looked around for a new volunteer for my devilish experiments. My eyes aimed straight at the Nexus 5 chillin´around there. So i removed the back with a guitarpick-like tool, cleaned the back and began applying the wrap. With the scalpel, i was able to remove the unnecessary protruding material easily. The most difficult part was the camera/flash cutout, i´d say. Things i have noticed: - Don´t overhead the material, it gets pretty soft - You get cleaner edges, when you stretch the material all the way around to the other side - DONT use your fingernail to squeeze out airbubbles or anything else, it will damage the wrap Wrapping the H440: My PC stands with the right sidepanel towards the wall, so minor flaws wont be that apparent when doing it the first time with the right sidepanel. I removed it, cleaned it and then cut a piece of the size of the panel + again, extra material (about 3 cm on each side). I removed the Paperlayer and placed the wrap on the table, with the sticky side facing up (which was a major mistake!). Following i placed the panel onto the wrap carefully...aaand there were wrinkles all over the place. Luckily I was able to remove the wrap without any damage. So I tried it the other way around. I partially applyed the wrap and removed the airbubbles with the squegee right away. Otherwise you would have to reapply the skin or make a little whole with a needle later on for the air to escape. Now, i had to make the edges right. I removed the extra material, until there was around 0.5 - 1 cm of extra material on each side left. Then, i used the hairdryer to bend the material around the edges to the other side. As i worked my way around, i always paid attention to straighten the wrap out propberly (not too strong). On the panel, the handle was defenitely the most callanging part. It is curved and edgy, having to heat up the materal lots of times and straighten out the material using the squeegee. Though, the wrap didn´t completely stick to the edge (see pic). But, it was done. the first panel and the look was pretty cool tbh. The next three panels were the more difficult parts. The left sidepanel having the acryl-window and the other to having 90° curves as well as front I/O. I also had to separate the plsatic part from the top and front panel to be able to wrap around the edges properly. Here are some problems i faced: - small wholes for the front I/O - Round corners/curves Solutions/Tips: - For small wholes, cut alot of slices in the material and squeeze a pencil or something similar through the whole. Then you can bend the slices around and stick it to the back. - Again, slice the wrap to about ~0.2 cm away from the material and then stretch it around the corner/curve. PICS: (i hope this spiler thingy works. Blame my Note 2 for potato-pics :c) Conclusion: Summing up, it was surprisingly easy to do, but with a timestamp of ~8h it´s a bit timeconsuming. Take your time! I did breaks, when i noticed that i was getting impatient. The result mostly satisfies me (well, the NZXT. lettering is not TAHT clean) and i´m planning to buy white wrap to skin the interior (SSD, ...), so i can call that build Oreo. However, thanks for reading this long, happy-ending story and feel free to ask me any question as well as pointing out any grammatical flaws (not a native speaker ._.). tl;dr: It´s cool. Update: I got myself some white wrap and just finished wrapping some parts. I´ll post some additional pics, when i´m finished painting my GPU.

IBM announced today they have figured out how to replace silicon transistors with carbon nanotube analogs. The full study is going to be published tomorrow in "SCIENCE" SO far this is only replacing the transistors, this is not an entire assembly of carbon nanotubes, so there are still areas that can be improved, and the nanotubes themselves can be shrunk down further as well. IF this scales up it could fill in some of the gaps for processor assembly and maintaining the performance improvements over time we have come to expect. Hopefully more info will come to light on the effects these new processes will have on power, heat, and costs. UPDATE: The full article is behind a paywall if anyone knows a location of the full PDF it would be appreciated. Hi all, I'm having a friend over in just a couple of days, and yesterday I thought of buying a bow and us having a crack at shooting a random house or something.. /s So I've been interested in archery for a far few years now, and I'm thinking of getting just the promoted recurve at my local sports shop with about a dozen aluminium arrows to go along with it. Though, do you guys think it's worth getting a bow from a reputable archery store online, with particular detail to the limbs and sight and such? Keep in mind I won't be doing anything competitive with it, just for messing around (with precautions obvious, I know how to handle a bow correctly). And more importantly, what price would we be looking at for a decent bow, but without spending some exorbitant amount. I'd ideally be looking to pay $400, but after watching just a couple videos it seems that going upwards to $600 is probably the 'sweet-spot'.

I thought I would show off what I'm currently working on. Its definitely not finished yet (doesnt even have the PC in it) but its a start As you can see, its a bit different from the stock case thoughts?

I think for my new corsair 450D build I am going to add some false panels to make the inside look a bit better, but an unsure as to the best materials to use to make the best use of both money with a lack of a sheer for metal. I will be coating the panels in a carbon vinyl so the look is not hugely important. Any suggestions are much appreciated cheers

Source: http://www.evga.com/articles/00817/ EVGA TORQ X10 Carbon It features RGB lighting controllable in their own software called "EVGA Unleashed". It's made out of real carbon. At least some parts. Adjustable parts in the back of the mouse to hold your palm in the spot you want it to be hold. It also has a metal base and adjustable weights directly under the mouse buttons. I think it looks okay. I still prefer the looks of the Madcatz Cyborg lineup (I'm probably one of those very few people). I'm afraid that the palm rest is wobbly and doesn't feel good. I experienced that with the Razer Ouroboros. I think the RGB lighting is very useless, because there are fixed colors on the mouse anyways. Why'd you choose blue lighting if the thumb buttons are red.. That makes no sense to me. Anyways I'm surprised that EVGA jumps into the peripheral market, but I also hope that this won't be another bad quality gaming mouse on the market. Edit: Why did they use such awful font for the picture captions
