I feel this might be an easy one. Are ok if PSU pcie/vga cables are touching the GPU? Right now Im switching to a 7800xt, since this is a bigger card the second cable is touching some parts of the gpu. Added pic. My current setup: - AMD 5700 X3D with MSI's kombo strike 2 enabled - MSI b450 tomahawk MAX motherboard - 2x16 Teamgroup Vulcan 3200mhz cl16 axmp enabled - 7800 XT XTX QICK319 speedster (just arrived) - PSU Gold EVGA 650w G5 supernova (I already made another topic about my PSU, I'm aware that is not the recommended). - 1 nvme m.2 970 Samsung; 1 SSD storage; 1 HDD storage. - 7 fans. Thx in advance!

Just made an account to ask this question. I recently upgraded my graphics card to a 4090, and it's been working like a dream. I even got a 12-pin GPU cable from CableMod. I heard about the recall on one of their other products, but since I have the cable itself (it replaces my PSU cables and cost me a fortune) I figured I was okay. When I first attempted to install the 4090, I realized it was a CHONK. I tried to give my cable enough breathing room to straighten out near the plug. The only part of the cable that bends is the cable itself, the plug itself doesn't seem to react at all when I put the glass on. You can see that it does curve down a bit, and the images are a little misleading since they're taken diagonally which makes it seem further out than it actually is. Image(8) actually shows the one spot it actually touches. Image(7) shows that all the pins are unmoved and still plugged in and there is no gap in between, I made sure it was all connected. I spoke with some people, and they said that my cable was pretty bent, and they recommended me get a vertical mount. I use a Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL and gave me this link for me to reference: UNIVERSAL 4- SLOTS VERTICAL GPU KIT (WITH GEN 4 RISER) – LIAN LI is a Leading Provider of PC Cases | Computer Cases (lian-li.com) Personally, I don't know how reliable vertical mounts can be, or how reliable the Lian Li mount is. I love their fans, they're very pretty, but I never put too much thought in a vertical mount. I have not seen any issues with my 4090 while its been like this, however I would rather get some more input before making a decision that would ultimately affect my entire computer. Like I said, I tried to give my GPU cables as much room as possible, and although it's bent a bit, the plug is secure and there is no gap that I can see (I have perfect vision btw). What should I do? Should I do anything at all?

Hey LTT-community, I have recently bought a new Laptop (Asus Zephyrus G14 (2024)). I wanted something I can carry everywhere and still has some decent gaming performance. But the 240W powerbrick coming with the G14 is a little chonky. However the G14 supports 100W charging over the USB4 port. So I am in the market for a 100W USB-C PD power adapter. I am currently looking at an Anker Prime 100W GaN Wall Charger or Anker 737 Charger (GaNPrime 120W). But now the horror of chosing a decent power cable. I would love to have one cable to do everything. But is that even possible. 100W charging (minimum) 40 Gbps Decent length 6ft (2m) I thought I would have to carry arround two cables. Having 40 Gbps over a length of 2 meters sounds impossible due to signal loss. Untill i came across this cable... Cable Matters 40Gbps Active USB4 Cable - 3m 40 Gbps 100W 3 meters But damn this price... Must be the cost of wanting the one cable to do it all? Or is this just to good to be true? Does LTT still do cable testing? What do you think? Greetz Mussche

I was looking to buy a Thunderbolt4 cable for my eGPU on amazon and saw this product "Verilux® USB4 Type C Cable for Thunderbolt 4, 3.3 feet", but in its description it says "only when the charging power reaches 240w, the transfer speed can reach 40gbps" I thought thunderbolt4 speed of 40gbps can be reached without the need to such powers delivery requirements as there are cables which can do 40gbps but can only go to 100watt of PD. Are thunderbolt4 cables power dependent ? Cause my eGPU wont be sending any power back to my laptop maybe 15w charge when my laptop adaptor isn't connected or they have made a mistake in description?

Hi everyone, I was having issues with my case fans over the last few days and I ended up breaking this cable, i've asked on reddit for the name of it or where to buy it but I wasn't able to get much help. I was told to look up "PWM extension", "4-pin header cable" but I wasn't able to find what i'm looking for. Every listing on Amazon and ebay were male to female cables that I would not be able to use. It's the cable that goes from the mobo usb header to the fan hub, I broke it earlier and my front fans aren't working as a result. Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

What is the best aux extension around 3 ft and under 20 dollars? I have the Sennheiser 560 s and I am using the ABLET boom microphone cable, so I need 2 aux extensions to accommodate the headphone port and mic port. I don't want to lose any audio quality for the mic and headphones.

Hi all, anyone know where I can check for the compatibility of Psu cables between the Antec Signature ST1000 Titanium and Antec EAG550 Gold Pro Or can someone just let me know if they are compatible :)

As the title suggests, my phones USB-C cable works perfectly fine with the controller, no batteries are in the controller too they are still brand new in the box. But my question is is there any downsides to just using my phones USB-C cable ? as soon as i connected it it worked perfectly fine with no issues, i heard people saying there is a difference between charging and data USB-C Cables but if it's a charging cable will it even work in the first place ?

So I've a pretty new PC builder, just built my first tower about a month ago now after switching away from Mac and so far I'm loving it! Just had a question about my power supply, and swapping out cables. So I bought a Radeon 7900XTX, and it didn't come with any kind of PCIe splitter/adapter, which I think is the standard for most GPUs? It also h as three 8 pin connecters, so because of that I ended up needing to use 2 different two pin connections to the power supply, resulting in one end of the cable just not being used and hanging under the GPU all ugly. So naturally, I wanna swap it out for something more visually appealing. Only thing is, I've heard from a few sources that you shouldn't swap around PSU cables with cables not meant for your specific unit because it can harm it, but I also know custom cables are a very common thing. Am I getting my wires crossed, or is there information that I'm missing? Can I just get any PCIe to three 8 pin cable and chuck it in there without any issues? Or should I stick with 2 separate cables? Not sure how much power can go through just one and this GPU naturally consumes a lot of power, so I wanted to ask and get a crystal clear answer because risking anything. It sounds like a basic question but hard to phrase in a simple Google search. Thanks in advance!

Hello all, I have some CAT6 Ethernet cables in a rats nest and I’ve noticed one of them needs replaced because it got bent too tight. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what the ideal curve radius for a regular CAT6 cable is. A lot of them are going 90 degrees, and all of them are round about 0.65 CM sheathing, except for one flat cable. Thanks

Hi, I am making my sim rig and as I came to knowledge Video cables looses their properties over longer distances. I am looking for functioning way to ensure it will work that will not cost a lot of money. (3x times DP 1.4 fibre cable is an option but quite expensive one) As I am looking for 3x FullHD 144hz is it possible to use some kind of splitter? HDMI? one cable from PC to a splitter and then into monitors? Thank you for any suggestions, tips and solutions

Dear people of brilliance! Preemptive apology: Not only am I practically tech illiterate, I'm probably too stupid to even own a PC. But I love games so here we are. Very grateful for any help! I got a (relatively) good deal on a Zotac AMP Extreme 4080 Airo. I'm planning on connecting it with my 750W Cooler Master MWE Gold (not V2). Vanilla, non-overclocked performance will probably be enough for me (monitor: 1440p ultrawide), so I've been told the recommended 750W should be okay. Question: What cables will I need to buy to make sure my old PSU can power my new graphics card? The high-end 4000 kidney-pawners famously come with an adapter, but I'm confused about which cables I need to connect to that adapter. I've seen a few in my market (Norway) aimed at the 4000 series, but many of them say "only for Corsair PSUs" or something to that effect. I just want to find a safe bet, and I don't care about looks. I need a way to hinder my brother’s ethernet connection, but under the current circumstances i’m not smart enough to do this myself. So Lets get down to the deal. i don’t have wifi but my pc do have LAN connection to the router, + the ethernet wire (The global one, don’t know how its called) go trough my room. Said router is inside his room. He changed the admin password for router settings and whitelisted only his PC. I could reset the router and superglue the reset button but right now that’s not the option, What could i do to break his ethernet temporarily when he plays videogames? Maybe there’s some form of a heatwave that can cause problems with the wire, or somehow ruin it trough cmd on my PC? His play list consists only of League of legends.

It seems to me that we've entered another round of "keep trying another cable till you find one that works" with the state of USB-C and thunderbolt. I have cables that look and feel like they are quality but various devices don't work. And then other cables that seem a bit flimsy but seem to work fine. Some that I think might be "brand name" and others that have no recognizable markings. Some cables seem to work one direction but, flip the connector over and they don't. And then there are all the questions about 2.0 vs 3.0 vs 2x2 vs thunderbolt etc. Are there any brands that we know we can trust? How about brands or models that are reasonably priced and work?

This is my cable https://www.amazon.se/Nätverkskabel-Ethernet-kabel-Höghastighets-Internetkabel-kabelklämmor/dp/B0B5QLQT1G/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=Snowkids%2BCat%2B8%2BEthernet%2BCable&sr=8-5&th=1 It got in this vacuumcleaner from dyson (the vacuumcleaner basically tried to suck it in but it couldn't) Is this enough to cause some sort of damage to the cables inside the protective rubber?

I just bought an creative stage V2 2.1 soundbar, but I found out the subwoofer cable is a litle to short for how I want to set up stuff...can someone tell me wich connector is this, so I could find like an extension cable or something to solve my problem. Also the cable is hardwired to the sub, kinda sucks...could just buy a longer one instead of suing an extension

Is this cable connection bad? My new gpu requires 2 x 8 pin connectors, but idk why they are both connected to eachother and it made connecting very hard, im afraid that cable bending is too much and might cause damage to cable in time. This is my older pc, this psu is corsair VS550w 80+ and its not modular. I dont have problems with it, tested it on all games even at 4k no issues. Undervolted my gpu to 950mv and gpu never takes more than 170 1 80w dueing heavy gaming, most games barely takes 130w 140w. Btw there is no another extra pcie cable, just this strange double one Is it safe? \ really dont want to change my psu ;(

Hey. My Corsair RM850x only came with 2 PCIE 6+2 cables, but I need 3. I am experiencing severe crash issues ever since, which is probably caused by using one of the cables daisychained. I want to buy another cable to fix the issue, however, I am unsure if I can use the cables which are daisychainable, but just not daisychained and rather with the second 6+2 connector just hanging off to the side. Is that doable or should I just buy three single 6+2 PIN cables? Thank you very much. Edit: GPU is radeon rx 6900 xtxh top edition by asus. Else: Ryzen 7 5800X slightly overclocked, 64GB Patriot Viper Ram, B550F Gaming Mainboard, DeepCool AIO, Deepcool Case, 1TB SSD + 256GB SSD.

Hello, I built my first custom PC back in early 2020 and the thing has been going strong for 3 years, sadly, it's already starting to wear down and some specs are in need of an upgrade. But I need some help. I mainly need help in the case department. Let me first drop the necesary information and I'll explain afterwards. This is my current PC: Mechastructor - Saved Part Lists - PCPartPicker And this is the upgraded version: Mechastructor - Saved Part Lists - PCPartPicker This PC will be an all-rounder (gaming, coding, very light video editing, drawing, 3D Art), though it's 1st and mostly main purpose is gaming, think AC Valhalla (Once that game is a bit more stable on my side), Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Kingdom Come Deliverance, etc. As for programs, stuff like SFM/Blender, Krita, Microsoft Visual Studio, Clipchamp, the basics. The upgrade budget is a max of €650-700 (€300-350 for the remaining parts I suppose) and I am buying all my from the same retailer because they're amazing and there's barely any hardware store near me so they're my best option. Though I am in the Netherlands, should anyone know of any hardware stores here. Now, I must admit I did a small oopsie when choosing the motherboard, while it does have a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C on the back. It does not have such a supported slot for the front panel. Regardless, it's the only white motherboard anywhere near my budget, I'm going for a slight theme, more on that later. Now, I thought I'd get the NZXT H7 Flow because that one has the 3.2 Gen 1 Connector the motherboard supports (And according to the motherboard, it can handle the 2 USB Ports on one socket) and then I'd let the cable for the Type-C hang loose until a new Motherboard. But I looked in the manual online and saw that the H7 uses something called a "Intel F-Panel standard header". Now obviously this board is not made for Intel, and the NZXT manual does not say which pin exactly is which, so I can't compare it with the manual of the motherboard and see if they would fit anyway. I looked online and some said there is an adapter, but the manual doesn't list any kind of adapter in its contents. So I'm worried this case won't even be compatible with the board. So the main question here is; What purpose does each slot have in the NZXT H7 Flow case on the F-Panel header, and would that work with this ROG Motherboard? Then secondly, I'm just looking for some general feedback on this build. It's basically my second build with how many new parts I am getting, though it's only because my hand is forced. As the system has been failing a bit here and there, and I do not have time to save up more. I like building my new PC's around some themes, this one will be a more "elegant/royal/luxury" theme, hence the focus on the white motherboard and the white case (I even have a build in mind for the future for a Royal Vampire theme. Because I love vampires. Red liquid cooled and all, but that's far ahead in the future). The RAM would eventually be replaced with G.Skill Trident-Z Royal. The reason I went with a Ryzen 5 5600X instead of a 5600 is because the place I am buying it at, didn't have that much of a difference in price. The ROG Strix was, once again, because it was the only white motherboard in my price range AND had the USB Ports I needed (Gen 2 Type-C for example) though I am curious if any of you would have picked a different board, the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB was picked because it's of the same series I use now, and I am very happy with it so I knew it was a safe and reliable investments... Plus it was cheap. Now, the SSD's are only possible because the place I am buying at has a massive sale at the moment, were it not for that, I might have re-used my current drives. My GPU I'll just be reusing because it works perfectly fine for my needs, and replacing that one would be a wallet-killer. The case, again because it's white, and NZXT seems to have great cable management at the back. Now there is a different one in the competition if this one would truly not work, and that's the Fractal Design Pop XL Air White. The reason I didn't pick that one, is because I am worried about cable management and airflow. And I know NZXT is a relatively good brand. And finally the PSU, I am currently using a BeQuiet! System Power 9 500 Watt. It works perfectly, doesn't make too much sound. And the System Power 10 is cheap so fits in my budget. Should I upgrade to a gold standard one? Probably, but that makes me go way over budget, as any good ones are quickly triple the price. I am also running a very old Philips monitor of which I can't find the exact model number online, though it's a grey 190B according to the stamp on the top left of it. And a XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro plugged directly into the PC for its power. I am still a bit on the fence about the SSD, because I am worried about its life cycle. My current OS SSD is already at 89% according to CrystalDiskInfo with a total power-on hours of 12668 at the moment of writing, and my SSD Games M.2 at 96% with 10102 hours. Almost daily runtimes, on average probably around 6-8 hours from Monday to Friday and probably around 13-18 hours on weekends. While the HDD's listed as a ST3500630AS in device manager, have been going for over 15-ish years without a single problem. Recently even did a full detailed scan, SMART, Corruption check, etc, and they're in perfect health. Even though those drives probably have been hammered the most with data, gaming, 3D Rendering in SFM, etc. I think that's all. I do apologize for the ridiculously long post. But I did want to give as much information as possible. Should I have missed something, or there's somehow more information needed, let me know. Any help with the Front Panel header and feedback on the build itself will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
