I'm unsure if I should study AWS or Azure. In my city in Sweden I find 200 jobs for AWS and 350 for Azure on the job database. I'm new to programming and only know Python and Java at high school level for reference. If I study AWS I will study Java and if I choose Azure I will study C# and basic Javascript. Do any of you have a suggestion on which cloudplatform to choose? Searching videos on YouTube it seems as if there's more videos on Java but perhaps it doesn't matter. I found BroCode to be excellent to learn basics for Python and Java. Update: I choose to study Azure. There's more job for Azure in Sweden and acording to an Azure consultant based in Sweden, most companies are centered around the Microsoft products; AD, AAD, Office 365 and Azure. The companies he meet that have a footprint in AWS are mostly looking to migrate to Azure.

I'm going to study 2 year in programming and I'm unsure what to choose. The educations I'm choosing between are one called "Front End Developer" and "Cloud Developer (Azure)". Azure are more popular in my country than AWS since most companies are centered around the Microsoft products; AD, AAD, Office 365 according to a consultant. Here's the courses in the included in these two educations: Cloud Developer (Azure) course content: Basic Concepts in Object-Oriented Programming Programming Language C# & Visual Studio Object-Oriented Analysis & Modeling with UML APIs and their structure The .NET Platform & .NET Core Application Development in C# .NET HTML5, CSS3 & Fundamentals of JavaScript Frameworks (React/Angular) & Web Security Azure Platform and Portal & Azure App Services Automating Azure with Azure CLI Cloud Databases & Cloud Storage Development Models: Waterfall, Agile, DevOps ASP.NET Core & Service Fabric Front End Developer course content: Web Development: Frontend Basic JavaScript Programming Web Communication User Experience and Interaction Design Web Frameworks for JavaScript Agile Project Methodology Advanced Web Development with JavaScript Packaging, Delivery, and Follow-up Specialization: Frontend, UX/UI From seeing these courses, what do you think are the benefits and disadvantages between these educations? I'm especially thinking about from stress, work life balance, amount of jobs etc.

Hello i'm planning on making a website where you check the ingredients you have and it lists meals based on those ingredients as well as risk of it being a trigger food (for people with IBS like myself) But i'm stuck on a few properties of the ingredients and the meal objects, How do i set these up to work the way i'm imagining? Mainly ibsRisk, fodMapRisk, rating and foodType. The first 3 should be 1-5 choices basically where a food can have a 1-5 rating (5 being high risk or high rating ) and the foodType should be values like: Meat. Carb, Spice, Veggie etc.that each object has and you have to select this when you create a Ingredient Object. Ingredients Object Int ID String Name Enum? ibsRisk Enum? fodMapRisk foodType ( Meat, Carb, Spice, Other) Int kCal Int fiber Int carb Int fat Meal Object int ID String name Enum Rating Ingredients String instructions String timetocook Thanks in forehand! PS: I'm making this in ASP.NET using MVC

I'm trying to set up a corn snake morph calculator and I have been stopped at the first hurdle! When trying to read if the text1 is "Caramel" and then to output the result "Amber" it doesn't work but when I change it from == to != it works. Originally I tried Comboboxes to no avail. Then I tried using different methods again to no avail. `private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (Morph_1.Text==Caramel) { Morph_Output.Items.Add("amber"); } }` When the user puts "Caramel" into the text box it should output "Amber" After I have this part fixed I want to have it so you can input two morphs and get the result E.g "Caramel + Hypomelanistic = Amber" Any help and advice are greatly appreciated, this is my first question on here and not really sure if this is laid out correctly or not.

Hello all, I was wondering how to use C# in Linux to create a simple Speech to Speech Program. If I say hi, it says hello, etc. If any more info is needed i can give the best I can. I was hoping to use Mono's WinForms API, but I'm not sure if Microsoft's speech libraries are with it.

I was thinking about this a lot earlier, how is the efficiency of C# string.contains() method when compared to the amount of characters included as the parameter. For example I am working with around 20,000 active directory users and I am having to check for certain strings in specific attributes contained in their name (distinguishedName for those of you who know AD well). I am wondering given a string example = "OU=this, CN=that"; Would example.contains("this") be quicker than example.contains("OU=this") as the first has less characters to match?

Hello again internet! My coding has been on and off for quite a long time now as basically I have had quite a struggle with figuring how to code things in general... Let me explain: I've watched tutorials some time ago on how to make basic things; calculators, crude file management apps etc and I feel like I don't know how to apply that knowledge as I tried (and gave up on) a basic file sharing program because the code reminded me more of Tom Scott's video on "the art of the bodge" - describing how taped together solutions can work but are ugly. Basically the code was a mess and was written wrong from what I could tell (although would love someone to confirm my assumptions) as although it would work it wasn't pretty at all... UI or genuine functionality: would crash for various reasons that meant I couldn't really push it past alpha. My question is then, tldr, how do you code a program that isn't a taped together solution while actually being creative? I see things made by indie people working on an App or website in awe at how tf they managed for their stuff not to be terrible. Maybe I need a better tutorial?

In my menu, I have a "#" symbol which moves absolute to the CursorPosition(xcoord, ycoord). Depending on the case switch ( e.g uparrow or downarrow key ) the xcoord will move. The ycoord is a constant, since this is a menu and not a player moving on a map within a game for instance it is not necessary. Now, xcoord decrements by 10 when the uparrow is activated and increments by 10 units when the down arrow is activated. However, I have to make a system that detects when the xcoord is at a certain position since I don't want the user to be able to infinitely go down or up on the buffer screen. I just want them to be able to go a certain amount based on the amount of menu items. Which may be easy to do, what I did was devised a little while loop each time the xcoord is at the top most value of the menu items displayed on the screen or the bottom most. The uparrow is working fine, however the downarrow isn't and I have no idea. I literally just copied and pasted the uparrow while loop to the downarrow case with a few adjustments. I've been trying to fix the problem for ages, pulling out my hair. I am completely lost! I don't even know what to even began to try what to do. I've already googled for a solution to no avail. And I don't want to copy and paste someone elses menu since I would be learning nothing. bool debugmode = false; bool f4 = false; // f4 enables or disables debug mode, by default it is false, when true consquently debug mode is ac- int redo = 0; // filler for the do while loop int ycoord = 30; // x coordinate on the plane coordinate int xcoord = 35; // y coordinate on the plane coordinate ConsoleKeyInfo userinput = new ConsoleKeyInfo(); do { userinput = Console.ReadKey(true); Console.SetCursorPosition(ycoord, xcoord); Console.Write("#"); Console.Clear(); switch (userinput.Key) { case ConsoleKey.UpArrow: xcoord = xcoord - 10; while (xcoord < 20) { if (xcoord == 10) { xcoord = 20; } else { xcoord = 20 - 10; } } Console.SetCursorPosition(ycoord, xcoord); if (f4 == true || debugmode == true ) { Console.Write("X: " + xcoord + " Y: " + ycoord); Console.Write(Environment.NewLine); } Console.SetCursorPosition(ycoord, xcoord); Console.Write("#"); break; case ConsoleKey.DownArrow: xcoord = xcoord + 10; while (xcoord > 60) { if (xcoord == 70) { GoBackTenU(xcoord); } else { xcoord = 60 + 10; } } Console.SetCursorPosition(ycoord, xcoord); if (f4 == true || debugmode == true) { Console.SetCursorPosition(ycoord, xcoord); Console.WriteLine("X: " + xcoord + " Y: " + ycoord); } Console.SetCursorPosition(ycoord, xcoord); Console.Write("#"); break; case ConsoleKey.F4: if (f4 == false) { f4 = true; } else { f4 = false; } Console.SetCursorPosition(ycoord, xcoord); Console.Write("#"); break; } } while (redo == 0); } static int GoBackTenU(int xcoord) { xcoord = 60; return xcoord; } edit: this code was just a giant clusterfuck edited up fixing it myself by rewriting it

So im using consoleapp c#. vs19, .net 4.7.2. And Webclient. When i try to // classes event handlers and other stuff here. // Uri & dir is defined somewhere uphere. try { client.DownloadFileCompleted += new AsyncCompletedEventHandler(onfinish); // these voids exist. client.DownloadProgressChanged += new DownloadProgressChangedEventHandler(DownloadProgressCallback); // they exist somewhere down there. client.DownloadFileAsync(uri, file); // it never throws webexception } catch (WebException ex) { // handle the exception } when i try to get it to throw webexception by using: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/filethatdoesnotexist, but i just makes a file called "filethatdoesnotexist", because Path.GetFileName(url); give it that filename. But heres the problem: It obviously hits a 404, but then just stops, and triggers OnFinish event, even thought im trying to make it Throw webexception when it hits a 404, instead of just stopping to download a calling OnFinish.

Mods if this thread is better in Programming thread then feel free to move it. It just thought it fit here better because im asking about Executeables files that are built into windows. Im wondering does c++, c#, java, extra compile to the same exe, in known you need for example .NET to run c#, and you need visual c++ framework, etc But do all these compile to the same exe insides? Like are they simmilarly structured, compiled to the same exe internaly. Feel free to correct any missspellings or miss wording, im trying to learn this better.

First off, forgive me if I'm breakin' any rules here... Not trying to advertise or anything, but I figured I'd share something I'm working on here because why not. Basically, this game I'm making... ShiftOS... doubles as a game and a prank application. Basically it scares the user by saying they've been hijacked and involuntarily selected to try an experimental operating system called ShiftOS. Their hard drive gets formatted in the process. That'd be funny as a prank, as it requires no administrator privileges (unless it's a school PC or something) which means, well, if this post gets popular and one of the guys at the LTT office sees this and decides to do a ChannelSuperFun video about it... let's just say, I'd imagine an unsuspecting victim would probably get real scared real quick. Especially if they're editing a video for LTT and all of the sudden their PC gets hijacked, and their hard drive formatted. It doesn't really get formatted. But yeah. Anyways if you're interested... http://playshiftos.ml/...

I am writing a code to convert from hex value to a byte[] then to a jpg. I am getting Parameter invalid at my memory stream syntax. Can anyone help me with this please /*Call function to Convert the hex data to byte array.*/ byte[] GetByte = SetByteArray(JPEG_HEX_DATA); /*Creating memory stream for the byte array.*/ MemoryStream MEM_ST = new MemoryStream(GetByte); /*Save the memory stream to file, result in a jpeg image.*/ try { /*Creating memory stream for the byte array.*/ Image JPEG = System.Drawing.Image.FromStream(MEM_ST);/*<- Parameter invalid error*/ /*Save the memory stream to file, result in a jpeg image.*/ JPEG.Save(ImgDestination.Text + "IMG" + JPG_COUNT + ".jpg"); /*Dispose of current image in stream.*/ MEM_ST.Dispose(); } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message, "ERROR", MessageBoxButtons.OK); }

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get a SQL query to work in a c# windows forms application but I keep getting data mismatch errors. I'm trying to search through records that contain the autonumber value from a different table as their foreign key so for example: BuildingID - the primary key BuildingName - some name OrgID - the foreign key I'm trying to search by The part that I can't get to work is where I have a long variable. I have tried Single, Double and int but I can't get it to work with the query just for context the attached picture of the code is searching a database for information on hardware and displaying it in to a table. Then the second part is finding building name values for a combo box and it's picking these out by the OrgID value then inserting them in to the combo box. Sorry I can't put my code in the post for some reason even with code tags it blocks my post any help getting this working is greatly appreciated thatOCGuy

Hello, I am currently community college for an associates degree in computer science with an focus on programming. Is a four year college degree worth it in programming( I am pretty poor, but I do well in school)? What degree should I go for at a 4 year college? Is there a demand for programming in South Carolina? Sorry for all of the question, just trying to get answers from real people, that may have been in my shoes. Thank you for reading this and for any information that you can help me with.

I've been thinking lately, I'm in college taking my Intro to Python class and they have me down for C++ later on like intro and then advanced C++, is C++ going to help me out the most in the long run, I mean I know its certainly not a terrible choice? I know I can self learn new languages, but its nice to actually be in a classroom to learn new languages. I mean I really like python and one of my teachers said it was his favorite above all the others, well he also said the Java was annoying lol

Hey guys! How can i get the Active windows account username? For example if i want my program to create a folder on the active user's desktop i need the full path from the C drive to the desktop (e.g @"C:\Users\John\Desktop\") How do i get that "John" username? Thanks in advance! P.s programming language is C#

Recently, my friend and I had been thinking of developing our own video game on unity. That meant that one of us would have to learn how to program (that's me). Which language should I go for first? I asked my teacher at school and she said "Avoid C#, it is too hard for beginners. Go for python, so you can understand the logic behind it all". I have kind of tried python, I can add numbers there and make it greet me, but that's about it as far as my programing skills go. Some people said that python is not good for a beginner, because learning only the syntax will do me no good.

So, the title may be not that clear, but I'm working on a web store. This is pretty much the first time I'm ever making something like this. I've experience in HTML & CSS, C# and SQL, So I was thinking of doing it like this: Make website using HTML & CSS (And JS maybe, which I still need to learn), and use ASP.NET (for which I can use C#) for the backend, with a mySQL database. I'm not sure, however, if I've even got everything I need, and I'm not sure I entirely understand the way this works. Do I make the website in plain HTML/CSS first? Is mySQL even compatible with all this (quick search says yes)? Do I have everything I need, or am I missing things? I could use some clarification here, thanks in advance!
