Hello community. A year ago I bought Ultrastar 20 TB - had no problems with it. So recently, just few weeks ago, I purchased another one - same Ultrastar 20 TB. But this new one driving me crazy cause it has this permanent vibration. And because of this vibration it is impossible to keep it in the case - it makes all kinda crazy sounds. I made a few videos for you to check. I purposely did not attach the data cable to it, only the power cable. I also recorded my previous 20 TB - to show that it does not vibrate as much as this one. Besides these two I have 18 TB, 16 TB also Ulstrastar HDD's and none of them have such vibration. On this video I recorded just the new one. It's out of the case, inside the case it's much worse. BTW - the read/write sounds that you will hear on the video are from the other drives that I have, I am totally used to that sounds, but this buzzing sound from vibration drives me crazy. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kf_JmPzGREUXYT84p8RaeYmEAkWLHWAe/view And on the second video I recorded my new 20 TB vs my last year 20 TB - to show that the other does not make that vibration and sound. Both of them are disconnected from data cable. When I touch the older one drive - I can feel slight vibration too, but it's so small, that it does not cause any strange sounds. Same goes to all the rest of my HDD's. But this new one - vibrates like crazy. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KSOvGMKpYovGmHXTlLw2ixm3QMJjb3pj/view And in this video how it sounds when it's installed in the case = / https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BgKgQdnN9fgnEG35oLUGxUJD-71j_bxu/view So right now just put it outside of the PC case, on a pillow, so at least the loud buzzing went away, but the deep one is still there. So, maybe someone of you encountered the same problem? Any advise what to do here? I contacted WD support, but right now they did not answered much, just send me first "general" answer - read this article, read that article. What do you think are my changes for a RMA? Cause they might answer smth like - "Oh, well, it's HDD, it has moving parts, it's expected, SMART test passed(BTW I did it, it does pass) - so nothing we can do, just live with it." And I will loose few months/weeks for RMA.

I’m sorry for the wall of text, it’s complicated. On my desk I have: two monitors (it happens with both), a laptop (+ dock), a desktop, and a mixer (and some other stuff but I don’t think those are relevant? feel free to ask if you think they might be). Whenever I plug a monitor into the laptop (or rather, its dock), the audio from that same laptop gets noisy, regardless of which monitor, video in, video out, or audio out. The desktop has no such issues, by using my mixer I verified it is only the audio from the laptop. That being said, if I unplug the monitors from the desktop the noise goes away. So, both computers being connected to a monitor (can be the same or different ones) creates the noise. Bypassing the mixer has no effect Now to make things more complicated: I have earbuds with a mic, I use those old school audio Y-spitters to separate the mic from the audio, one at the earbud end and one at the other end to plug into my iPad (that way I can still pause by using the button in my earbuds and put my mixer in between on the audio side so I can listen to my desktop, laptop, iPad, etc. all at the same time), whenever I unplug the mic side the buzz goes away and returns when I plug it in and it does not need to be the iPad, I can also plug the mic into the laptop or desktop, it creates the same noise, it can even be plugged into just the splitter without the iPad. Furthermore, to make things really weird, I can unplug everything (even power) except the video cable from the monitor while keeping the noise (though it is stronger with power connected). The noise could probably best be described as a whine, similar to coil whine, but less stable (it varies in pitch and volume). Here, have a listen: Weird noise.m4a So, to summarise, both computers being connected to a monitor (can be the same or different ones) AND connecting the mic from my earbuds to anything creates the noise, bypassing the mixer does nothing, the noise is only present from the laptop, it happens regardless of power to the monitors and desktop (laptop can’t be unplugged because the dock only works when powered) I’m at a loss, if anyone could point me in a direction where it starts making even the slightest bit of sense, I would be very happy... perhaps interesting: Laptop: HP ProBook 6560b Dock: HP 2012 90W Docking Station Monitor 1: LG 27GP850 Monitor 2: HP Z23 G2 Mixer: Behringer Xenyx 502 Earbuds: Apple EarPods Desktop: Custom

My friend today bought new monitor from samsung. It's Samsung C27F390F. The monitor emits buzzing noise. Monitor have two inputs, VGA and HDMI. The noise is only emited when connected via HDMI, we tried different cables, but that didn't help. Noise is more intense, as we turn brightness up. When using VGA noise is gone, even on max brightness. Any suggestions?

It only happened so far in one game but there's an audible whine or static buzz, not sure what it is but I guess the gpu? Is that normal? I don't really play games that are that demanding and I wear headphones so I never noticed it before. The game is BDO Specs x570 rog dark hero 3950x 6800xt rog lc corsair hx850i psu https://imgur.com/a/htWI415 some readings from when this is ongoing Edit: the pc is connected to a UPS. Gonna check if the whine is present when I'm running off wall power directly

IMG_0970.MOV Hello, this is my first time posting here at LTT so bear with me. So I recently built my own custom PC and upon building it then turning it on a few moments in there's this loud sound started coming from the PSU but after some time it also disappears the duration differs and I notice it comes up randomly but doesn’t affect performance in any way from my observation. My PSU is a Cooler master v850 sfx and I cant tell what kind of noise it is but it doesnt really sound like coil whines imo. Right now I asked the seller of the PSU for a replacement and theyre testing my psu for now as I dont really know what the issue is nor can I find a similar cases on the internet so far. For now I borrowed my brother's PSU which is also a cooler master but an atx silent pro 850w which is a quite old model already but it still works well and Ive had no issue so far until just later that day while using it, a similar sound to the first PSU came up again so Im sort of doubting the idea that the issue is really with the PSUs at this point. Ive also tried directly plugging to a wall socket or a power strip but same thing since I preferably use power strips for cable management. Id say the closest sound I can match it with is when my yeelight wifi filament bulb also makes this buzz sound from time to time as well (I don’t have a video recording of it since I haven’t had it occur again in a while), not as audible but still noticeable then I just left it alone and had no issue with use so far. Is it just a natural occurrence? Right now Im just looking for an explanation for it since I have yet to find anything similar to it written down. If the information above is still insufficient please feel free to ask so I can answer.

How do I fix it or is it normal? I recently bought it. Its a Corsair RM850x gold 20211219_220312.mp4

Hi all, My brother recently purchased a RTX3060Ti OC Edition. When he plays games and the GPU is under load, it makes a loud buzzing sound. I've attached a video of the sound it makes when switching between different graphic settings in Borderlands 3 from Normal to Ultra graphics. Video in IMGUR and download link below: https://imgur.com/a/mRX8Nvp I've tried to update all the drivers, downloaded NVIDIA GeForce Experience and updated the GPU. Re-plugged all the GPU connections to the PSU. Not sure what else I can do to fix this one? The CPU is Ryzen 5600x 8GB Corsair DDR4 MSI X570 Motherboard Thermaltake 750W PSU IMG-7788.MOV

I'm not sure why, but recently my 1 year old custom PC started buzzing. It just happens randomly, and it's been around 3-4 times in the past 2 weeks. The first time it happened, I unplugged my case fans and turned on the PC and it still happened. I can say that my case has very good cable management so the cables aren't hitting the fans or anything. If I nudge my PC case slightly, it'll go away completely. I really can't isolate the issue. Is this concerning? I haven't noticed any performance hits or anything. Or could it just be vibration?

Hello, I guess my hope of posting - is to make sure PC is safe to use. I have checked similar topics, which is similar: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1412987-strange-noise-from-the-gpu-area-buzzing/#comment-15270020 https://linustechtips.com/topic/1143166-buzzing-noise-coming-from-the-case/#comment-13197945 My questions: maybe for starters need some confirmation - IS that a coil whine? any advise on how to fix that? It appeared today, but PC was used with current parts, for at two months. and if it's coil whine - can it be related to the new games/software installed? It was the only thing that changed Problem and troubleshooting steps: When PC is on higher load - somewhere from the are between CPU and GPU buzzing noise started appearing. The noise itself: Recording consists of three parts: 0) Started random high demanding game (e.g. "Red dead redemption", new "Tower of Fantasy", "Assassins Valhalla") 1) Buzz started, it is constant. 2) Alt-tab'ed and started anything to get windows account control pop-up. The noise becomes more like "clicking". 3) Closed pop-up - back to initial noise. From task manager, it looks like utilization matches the change of noise: For GPU I was a bit late to grab a screenshot, but also can see when noise changes in the video: Then I have tried to run CPU and GPU benchmarks simultaneously: > when only CPU running 100% - no noise > when only GPU or CPU and GPU running, both 100% - lower noise, like half of it And I'm pretty sure sound is not coming from the PSU - PSU is in bottom compartment, and it can be heard coming out of top of the PC case. When opened - sound is somewhere in the middle. And as tested with WIndows prompt - it immediatelly reacts, so I don't think it is some kind of vibration resonanse. And yes, "manually" tested all the coolers, nope, not them. PC parts: BE QUIET STRAIGHT POWER 11 1000W Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS POWERCOLOR Devil RX 6900XT AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Fractal Design Meshify C

Hi folks, long time reader first time poster here. I've got a bit of a bizarre problem. Here it is in a nutshell: When my PC and monitor are connected together on the same circuit, they both start producing a high-pitched whirr or buzz (see video below). More Detail: I've just built a new system but retained the PSU, SSDs and screen from my old build. The system works perfectly albeit for a high-pitched buzz (not dissimilar to coil whine; sounds like crickets in the night) coming from the PSU and the monitor's power adaptor simultaneously. I recorded the sound here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3Ffmp4ZvIw. In the video, I've separated the screen and the PSU so that I could try and isolate the source of the noise. It only occurs when the monitor is turned on, and doesn't appear to be affected by GPU or CPU usage. I noticed no variation in pitch or volume while bench-marking GTA V and Far Cry 5. The noise is also present even if the monitor is not connected via HDMI to the PC. I've tried turning the monitor on in the hallway and having the PC on in the bedroom (same circuit) and the noise is still present. If I connect the monitor to my laptop and turn the PC off, the noise isn't present. It seems like the combination of the PSU and monitor power adaptor causing the noise. Some people have mentioned that this could be the result of a grounding issue, but I'm having trouble finding other examples of it happening like this elsewhere. Here's other things I've tried while trying to isolate the problem: using the HDMI output for the motherboard instead of the GPU (as seen in video - no change in noise levels) running the PC without the GPU (no change in noise levels) adjusting the brightness of the display (the lower the brightness, the lower the pitch of the noise) using the display with a different PC (no noise at all) rebuilding the system from scratch and checking all connections (noise persists) turning the monitor off (the noise instantly stops) using a different HDMI cable (noise persists) using a different power cable (noise persists) using the TV instead of my monitor (noise stops) running the PC and monitor on separate circuits in the house (noise stops) The most puzzling thing is that this problem was not present during my old build, which included the very same screen and PSU combination. I've tried to isolate the problem further by just running the system with 1 RAM stick, the CPU and motherboard but the noise persists so I am doubtful that the GPU is to blame. Apart from picking up another screen or PSU to test different combinations, has anybody got any tips or ideas for the cause of this issue? System Specs: AMD Ryzen 3600 NVIDIA 1660 Super (MSI Gaming X) Gigabyte Aorus B450 Pro Wifi Corsair AX760 Dell S2718D Monitor Many thanks!

Hi everyone! I just put together a new build (specs below) and I'm having some growing pains. When I'm using my headset (Razer Kraken), everything will work fine until I open up a game (lets say Destiny 2) and then I'll get this weird feedback/static noise in my headset. The noise can be heard over discord as well with people I'm in a call with. The headset has a single 3.5mm cable that I attach to splitter and put into my MB jacks on the back. It recognizes each end of my splitter as microphone and an audio out respectively and works over discord (though it is a bit quiet). So far I've tried using the front audio port, not using the splitter, restarting the computer, checked for updates to discord, the game in question at the time and my drivers, running game audio out of my speakers while still using the headset for discord (game sound went to speaker but the sound still appeared in the headset) and restarting to no avail. One thing of note is that when the game is minimized or behind say, a full screen google chrome window, the sound is diminished. It's definitely still present but not near as strong. When all sound is running through the speakers, there is no problem whatsoever. I'm really not sure what's going on here, any help would be appreciated. My computer crashes randomly, so i have to say this fast. It randomly goes black and buzzes, and loses display connection. My friends suggest that it may be a power supply issue, but it has only happened today. Nothing is OC. PLEASE help. It is more prominent in games (minecraft so far) but it also crashed last time i tried to post. I have an Asetek 550LC, which is the OEM Corsair H60. There's tons of topics/videos about how these Corsair Hydro pumps buzz and there's no definitive solution. Some have RMA'd multiple times with the same issue. Some were able to undervolt the pump with success. My current setup is: MSI Z170I Mini-iTX motherboard Pump in CPU_FAN header (0.2A) Radiator + Case fans in SYS_FAN header via 3-pin splitter (0.6A) I've tried controlling the CPU_FAN header with the BIOS, but it seems it only controls with 4 pins, because it stays at 100% regardless of what I put the curve at. I've tried switching fan headers, then my fans go full blast in CPU_FAN, so I can't hear the pump to check anyway. One thing to note is that it seems the buzzing loudness comes and goes. There's always a light hum, which is fine. This isn't air bubbles, it's definitely an electrical sound. Any insight is appreciated.

Hey Guys I'm experiencing a lag/static problem which occurs every minute or few minutes which is most noticeable when actively using the PC while sound is coming out the speakers or while gaming. I'll get this buzz noise through the speakers for just a second or a few seconds and during that time the computer will lag. Not sure what's going on, this has only started happening over the past week. It doesn't cause games to crash or anything it's just annoying. Any help would be appreciated All parts of my pc can be found here: https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/2Kp2jc

Hi there, the sounds starts after starting Ghost Recon: Wildlands and it can be noticed in the menu and so on, after closing the app, its gone. I also tried CPU stress test but the sound wasn!t there. Maybe the Kraken pump? But it is also making an active sound while clicking on things in the menu....Here is a video, turn up the volume - the sound can be heard at 0:39+https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BSVQuJ9WlA______________________________mobo MSI Z270 M5I7 7700kG.Skill Trident Z 16gbgtx 1080samsung 960 evopsu Corsair rm650xKraken x62 cooler

Hi, For the last 2 moths I have been experiencing random buzzing noises coming from my PC case. I cannot find anything on youtube or google to resolve this problem. I have attached an audio file you can hear the buzz at 4:24 and some where near the end. Some times it lasts for 2 seconds and some times its barely half a second. Again completely random. I thought that it was a virus or maybe because a OS reinstall was due. But that did not help, Currently I am running Win 10 x64 My specs: AMD FX 8300 PowerColor Radeon R7 370 Gigabyte 970A-DS3P Kingston HyperX 2x4GB Cooler Master Elete Power 500W There is no freezing or stuttering while the PC is in use. Just the random buzz that comes and goes. It can be once per day or once per two weeks. record20170405235642.3gpp

Hi! My powersupply is making a buzzing noise. I know what coil whine is and it does not sound like it, it sounds like a bee. My powersupply is a cx750m. I bought it in mid 2014. This was to power an R9 280x + fx 6100 build. I built a new pc a little under 2 weeks ago. 6700k & gtx 1080. I reused the powersupply. Now the powersupply is making a buzzing noise. If I apply pressure with my hand on the case walls, it somehow makes the buzz sound a bit less, but doesn't go away. The thing is it never made this sound in my old pc. Only my new one. It does this irrespective of load. Sometimes it goes away and sometimes it comes back an hour or maybe a few minutes later. Quite random.

Hi LTT forums, I built my gaming rig about 2 years ago but it's been making a weird buzzing noise every time I start it up. I can't figure out what is is, and in order to stop it I have to hold the power button to turn it off and restart it. It started happening in the last few months and might be due to accidentally kicking it. I'm using an NZXT case, an evga gtx 960, and the stock air cooler that came with my hexacore amd fx cpu. I checked all of those components and none of them seem to have cables brushing up against their fans. I recorded an audio clip of me booting my computer twice with the buzzing and it stopped on the third. Please provide any info that might be helpful. thanks. Buzzing.wav *the audio is really quiet so you might need to turn up your volume.

I recently built a new machine which i'm very happy with except I have 1 issue. Im listening to music through a tube amp and it is connected to the rear 3.5mm audio port of the motherboard. The audio coming out through the motherboard is very noisy, and after playing with it a bit I figured the noise source is the graphics card (maybe its fans) which is radiating a lot of buzzing to the audio components and conductors. It doesn't matter which audio port I use (front or back) its still very noisy and the noise gets stronger as I increase the load of the PC. Is it possible that Asus did a bad job at the audio part of the pcb? or it may be something else in my system. Or my expectations from this motherboard are too high?. The main specs are: Asus Z170-A Intel i5-6600K @ 4.4Ghz GIGABYTE Radeon R9 390 Thanks!

Hey everyone (be ready for a long story) i have upgraded my acer predator g3-605 which had a intel i7 4790 and a GTX 980 inside of it. ( the Motherboard is this one https://www.google.com/search?q=acer+predator+g3-605+mainboard&rlz=1C1CHBF_deDE842DE842&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiB8bil_ZDiAhUBL1AKHT7eAFcQ_AUIDygC&biw=1920&bih=969#imgrc=lts2alTAdC6BXM: ) I put in a rtx 2060 in my old pc without swapping a thing. Psu was the same (a FSP GROUP PSU) Cpu and case etc. Everything was fine and worked without flaws. But then i bought a new case the Sharkoon TG5, a new psu From Coolermaster the anda new Motherboard ASRock B85M DASH/OL R2.0 The coolermaster Masterwatt 500 Lite I noticed something was buzzing and couldnt tell where it was coming from so i sent back the psu and tried another cheap one with the same result i sent that one back too. Now recently i bought a EVGA SUPERNOVA g2 550w gold rated psu and plugged everything in and see? the same friggin results. I was still hearing that buzzing sound. So i tried listening closer and realized its coming from either the mobo or the gpu but like i said i never had those problems with my old Mobo. I switched out the GPU to my GTX 980 (which i never plugged in another PSU except the EVGA one. They were not tested with the Coolermaster or the cheap one) And to my luck the same noise. The same buzzing sound. So my last thougt was it has to be the motherboard. So i bought this one Asus Q87M-E (C2) Haswell Motherboard Socket 1150 (Micro-ATX, Intel Q87, 16x PCIe, DDR3 SATA III) and HEY!!!!!!!!! THE SAME FRIGGING RESULTS AGAIN THE SAME BUZZ THE SAME NOISE THE SAME EVERYTHING! So excuse me fur cursing but wt* am i doing wrong here man? I tried everything from turning of the C state in bios to disconnecting the fans on my case with the same results. Im frustrated beyond belife and im so sickend by building A pc. Here i always thought building a pc would be my reward after working so much and breaking my back to get some money. Please anyone tell me what i can do because right now? Im just so done. Thanks in advance to everyone who replies to me even a question is apreciated. Here is a video of the Noise (its louder in the video for whatever reason but not as loud in person. Still its very noticable even through a headset thats set to medium Volume)

Hi guys bit of an odd one right now! So yesterday I was using my PC noticed that my condenser mic (Rode NT1-A) and audio interface (Tascam US-144) were both receiving an electrical current that could be felt when you touched your hand to them, not a static shock but a constant current. I realised this wasn't normal and discontinued use straight away, tried different power cables etc with the interface and then decided to take it apart and inspect the damage Upon opening I noticed a burning smell on the board and the unit now no longer works, I will now be taking it to be recycled. What's strange is that I have another problem to do with the audio on the pc now, namely, whenever I run any game on the pc, there is a really loud buzzing sound, it appears linked directly to the microphone (guitar hero usb mic) as it stops when the mic is unplugged. I'm wondering what this could be, I first thought the PSU might be the issue, from what I can see the 12V rail is at 12.8 5V rail is 4.8 and 3.3V rail is at 3.2 I'm not an expert on these things but previously I had a faulty PSU that when checked with a multimeter was outputting 10-11V so I'm not sure this is anywhere near as bad. This is a problem for me as I can't talk to friends while playing apex legends or even when I'm playing crackdown 3 solo, I can hear the buzz if I have listen mode on the mic (which I tend to do as I like the audio feedback of hearing what I've said so I know I'm not peaking or breathing into the mic accidentally) TL:DR external soundcard blew up, using different mic which is making strange buzzing noise and sounds terrible when running games. Example here Crackdown 3 with audio issue Any help would be much appreciated!

Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive. The PC makes a weird buzzing noise when there's an input such as scrolling or pressing a key on the keyboard. The noise is not too loud, but in an empty and quiet room you can easily hear it. It also buzzes when under load sometimes. Such as running a game or opening an application which I found to be normal. But just when simply scrolling through reddit, it buzzes as I'm scrolling. If I stop scrolling, it stops buzzing. Here is the noise it makes: https://clyp.it/sceboftw Make sure to listen with headphones because the sound is muffled here and try to ignore the fans spinning noise. Starts around 0:05 then as you can hear me pressing a button on the keyboard, the noise starts. If I release a button, the noise stops. List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem. I checked if everything is plugged in correctly. I tried unplugging my headset, mouse, keyboard, ethernet cable and turning off my monitor. I checked the temperatures while running Cinebench, everything was normal. ~60°C on CPU scoring 4734, all cores running at ~4GHz. Post relevant photos of build/parts here. https://imgur.com/a/IeSMXPV Provide any additional details you wish below. Could this be GPU coil whine? The noise also happens when the GPU isn't under heavy load and fans are not turning (low temperatures).
