So I've been using the Seasonic VA2409-H for couple of years now, its a solid monitor enough for my need, and for about a year now I use it as secondary monitor, ususally to show a firefox tab. just now after cold booting the PC, I realise around the corner of the screen, I got this greenish vignetting with a hinted of familiar firefox interface there, just like burn (image retention) in on OLED screen. I tried to change my windows walpaper temporarily to plain white solid color, and after 30 minutes leaving it on, its sorta fading out, but still noticable, hopefully it will be gone completely. My question is, is it still posibble that modern (and cheap) IPS panel still got this image retention issue? and is it just temporarily and can be gone quickly or it can be permanent one? or can it be attributed to just lower end of IPS panel? And what the easiest way to clear the issue (like me who changing the wallpaper temporarily to solid white color)? Anyway I admitted its my fault to leave the secondary monitor at idle at full brightness when showing static firefox tab .

Anyone know why CRT monitors didn't have burn-in even when used on a PC actively everyday? I know burn-in was a real problem on CRTs, but apparently not on monitors? I know even LCDs can experience burn-in, so I'm curious specifically why CRT monitors didn't have this issue because I wanna know if it's possible to have an OLED as a monitor built in the same way with the same kinds of tolerances.

I have this ~15 year old LCD monitor that I use as a secondary display and I've noticed that it is perceptive to temporary burn ins (lasting ~15 minutes). This seems to only occur in a specific area of the monitor at the top left. Is there something wrong with the hardware or is there something in the monitor settings such as brightness or contrast that I can change to reduce the effects?

I've recently ordered the "Audio-Technica ath-m40x" and I was wondering if burning in your headphones was actually needed since I've seen many audiophiles burn in their headphones before using them. Is it true you need to burn in your headphones for optimal sound quality?

Hi Everyone I have a nexus 6p that I bought from the google play store when it came out, the phone is bending, the screen has burn in and the battery is starting to get wonky. I am wondering if I should contact the play store and see what they can do as this seems to be a defect issue rather than a ware and tare? I know the phone is out of warranty but I am wondering if any other 6p users are having the same problems? I made a short video explaining my experience Thanks

So im thinking on buying an Alienware 13 with OLED screen, but im kind of scared about the burn in issues. I know is to early to judge, but, do the owners have had any issues with their Alienware? Side question. ¿Are there any rumours about a Alienware 15" OLED screen so far?

Hiya guys, I really can't seem to find any issue similar to this online, but my monitor - an Asus IPS (VC239H) - has had some really odd burn in issues. They started about a month ago after I came back from a week-long holiday, in which no one would've touched it (I really doubt anyone did) and it was just a small portion (about 1/5) of the left side of my monitor having a slight red tint and had the windows lock screen clock burnt onto it. The PC definitely had not been on whilst I was away, so this had burnt on in about the 10 mins since I had turned my PC on, and then gone to use it after getting food. I ran a few of those burn in fixer videos through it and it had gone in about 1/2 an hour. Things now burn into the monitor in about 5 mins, for example, if I play one game of Apex Legends, the health bars will be burnt onto the screen, and there's a slight red tint to the side of the monitor too. Moreover, when I look at the monitor, on the affected side it looks like there's a grid separating the pixels almost, and a slight scan effect going down the screen really quickly. The problem also seems to be spreading, it is now about 1/3 of my monitor affected. Like I said I couldn't see anyone else with this issue in any reviews with this monitor or any other IPS panel, and it seems to have happened randomly. Anyone have any idea what's wrong with it, and either how to fix it or at least negate it a little? Thanks in advanced, Cal

Hey! I have the monitor ASUS PG278QR and it is now about 2 years old and I have noticed recently that I have bright ''burned'' in horizontal line and the search tool in the bottom left side also seems to be ''burned'' in. Do anyone of you recognize this problem and is there anything I can do about it? Some additional information and picutre: - The line and the search tool burned in is very visible aginst a grey background with an almost green/yellow colour. - The line and the search tool burned in is pretty much not visible on a white background and is shown very little aginst a completely black background - I have changed cable and it didnt work. Even when the monitor is not connected to a computer but still on, the line and seach tool can be seen as shown in the picture. - I have updated my drivers. - I have tried different resolutions and refresh rates. - In the picture I used a completely grey background for the test purposes and to better show my problem. Thanks alot in advance.

So I REALLY want to get a Lg CX Oled for my new gaming pc but i’m wary of burn in... I play games with health bars and huds A lot and can often play 6-8 hours a day Given that I work from home and have a lot of free time. i’m worried I play way too much to have an OLED. Would setting my display to go into sleep mode every 15 minutes of no activity, and using pixel refresh every couple of days prevent burn in? Or will it inevitably happen no matter what I do?

I just built my first pc and decided to go for 144hz. I got a Viewsonic XG2401 and it seemed pretty good for the first week. After the first week, strange horizontal lines, were showing on the monitor. It looks almost like burn-in. I've tried to search up more about this problem but I only found one forum about it and no replies. I wanted to see what would happened if I switched down to 120hz and the lines disappeared. But in about a week, they slowly started showing up again. I can't take a photo of them as they are not noticeable on my phone's camera. My graphics card (Gigabyte Windforce OC GTX 1080) has the latest drivers, I'm wondering what is causing this. The monitor or the GPU? Should I RMA the monitor? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Dear community, After booting to the desktop, some artifacts from the lockscreen or certain applications still show up very lightly on the desktop. It looks similar to a LED burn it, but I am certain that it is NOT an actual burn in. Does anyone have a smilar problem? Running the latest Win10 on my LG 34UC98W. Kind regards

I bought this Y27G re-furbed and couldn't be happier, the other day I tried a windows theme (gd it) and since aero themes seem to not work at all on my pc (i53450s gtx1050ti 16gbram) I removed it. Since then I noticed a ghost image of a windows 10 taskbar, maybe it has been there or maybe the theme installed something? Scanned and Ccleaned but it is still there, thinking it is burned in. Its just weird i didn't notice till now and there is also a ghost box about 70% of the screen in the center that looks like the ghost taskbar... Thanks everyone

Sooooo I completely f*cking accidentally destroyed my old phone by shooting it with a bow (long story) and bought a new one. I've bought a Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and I would like to keep it in one piece this time since its an expensive phone. I bought a PanzerGlass screen protector for it and got it installed by a professional but the thing is, the sticky edge around the protector was a bit too thick, so part of the glue was on my screen causing two tiny little rainbow colored lines about 1mm from each side of the screen, which was super annoying... So for my first question, does anyone know of a good case / screen protector? (I don't like flip covers btw) Now, this phone has a super nice feature where the screen keeps displaying the clock / calendar when you turn the screen off which is really nice but I'm affraid it will cause screen burn in... For my second question, does the always on display cause screen burn in or not? And the last thing I'm worried about is the phone claims to be waterproof. Does this mean i can take it in the shower or is that not safe? Kind regards, Mark

So I have an odd issue that I thought would never happen. I have a 2(ish) year old ASUS Q550LF-BSI7T21 laptop that has non persistent image burn in. What I mean by non persistent is that I will get an image or part of an image burned into my display if it stays there long enough (example: Chrome/IE/Edge search bar) but it will fade away if I close the offending item. I have tried numerous LCD dead pixel/stuck pixel/image burn in repair videos on YouTube and none of them seem to be able to fix a thing. Is this something that I should be concerned with, is this even supposed to be able to happen to IPS panels, is this something I should get repaired even though it would cost a lot (~150-450 USD) to fix? I just don't know what to do in this situation, this laptop maybe gets used once a week after you average all the times that I have used it over the last two years of ownership. This is also a recent issue and I'm not sure if me leaving it sleep for 3 days and killing the battery by letting it sit there for two weeks is the cause or not either, could that be the cause? Screen brightness doesn't seem to affect it and if the display loses power from me shutting it off with an ASUS function key and turn it back on, it goes away immediately? Do you guys have any recommendations? I would get a picture of it but it is so hard to see on camera that you may not be able to see it.

Hi, I hope that this is the right forum for this question. I have a notebook with an intel i5 4200u without a dedicated graphics card. From time to time I get an effect that looks like a burn in from a CRT. It often shows a part of my desktop or the taskbar and seems to only effect the edge of the display (about 2cm around the edge). I guess it's due to some data in the VRAM which is displayed or not deleted by mistake. I already replaced the RAM (since it's also the VRAM when there's an integrated graphics chip, isn't it?) and used the other RAM slot. Nothing changed. More info, maybe not relevant: Another problem related to this is, that Linux does not boot when I recognise that effect while grub is running. The display stays black from the point where the boot animation with the dots and the ubuntu logo should appear. Windows is not affected like that. Also the problem appears on ubuntu way more often than on windows.

I recently bought a pair of Sennheiser cx 275s earphones. I heard that you need to burn in any new earphones for longevity and quality over time? Is it true to any extent. Do anyone recommend it?

I am just finishing up my gaming/editing rig. I have a swiftech h220-x cooler on a i7-5820k, and 16gb ddr4 ripjaws 2800 ram. I hear you should let the Artic Silver 5 cure first? Is this true? How long should I burn in this system before over clocking? My first build in 10 years. so I'm a newb again! Thanks...

I just picked up a pair of ASUS VN248H-P monitors. They seem pretty nice, but I've begun to notice some weird issues that are outside of my knowledge base. I'll do my best to describe what's going on, but you might want to check out the linked video and pictures. First, I hooked up my camera (Sony NEX-C3) to one of the monitors to use it as an external display. The camera menu and options were displayed on the screen for no more than 30 minutes before I switched back to my desktop to discover this: Burn In 01, Burn In 02 NOT COOL! I know about image burn and image persistence but 30 minutes is a ridiculously low threshold. It's faded away now (apprx. one hour later) but I'm still concerned something is wrong with my monitors. And because I'm concerned I decided to put them through some pixel tests. I pull up this YouTube video, full screen it, and let it play only to discover another problem: HDMI (left) VGA (right) Ex. 01, HDMI (left) VGA (right) Ex. 02, HDMI (left) VGA (right) Ex. 03 I'm not a gamer, but I think this is what they call screen tearing. It was happening on the same monitor that had burn in, and not the second monitor. I'm starting to get pissed but in the name of science I calm down and think of the variables involved. Both monitors are connected via on board video. The problem monitor is connected to the HDMI, and the second monitor is connected to the Display Port via a DP to VGA adapter, effectively making it an analog signal, I think. So, I switch them and boom, the problem monitor is no longer tearing, but the second monitor is: VGA (left) HDMI (right). Now I don't know what to do. I don't even know if these are true problems or somethings I am unfamiliar with. Should I RMA these monitors? Will a graphics card upgrade (Gigabyte G1 GTX 970) fix the screen tearing? Help me PC Master Race, you're my only hope.

Can someone scientifically prove that burning your headphones makes a difference/doesn't break them? I need to prove to someone that burning in is not useless and it doesn't break (finish it's lifespan) them.

I run Windows 7 64 bit i5 3570 2 4 gig sticks of G Skill Rip Jaws Ram at 1600 Mhz Asrock promvp mobo Samsung 840 ssd boot drive and 2 storage hdds Sapphire 7970 Dell U2412M monitor Today I was playing Titanfall, and after going afk for about 30 minutes, I came back to see a message saying something along the lines of "Disconnected from the server." The message was flickering up and down very fast. I control alt deleted out of Titanfall and closed it. The message was still seen lightly on my background. I restarted and it was still there. I turned it off and opened some of the monitor ui and in the "looking for input" box you could see the message lightly flashing at the bottom where it originally was. Is this burn in? Should I be worried? What can I do to fix this? Thanks.
