  1. New PC, $600-700

Hello, I am brand new to PC switching from console. I am completely clueless on compatibility and pieces. I have a budget of $600-700 dollars and am located in the USA in California. This PC is going to be strictly for gaming, mainly FPS games such as overwatch, fortnite, pubg, csgo, etc. I would like to play at 1080p with a constant 60fps or higher. I do not care about aesthetics, although a glass window and matching colors would be nice. I would like to upgrade in the future. Going a little over budget is ok as well. thank you, yoyr help is very much appreciated. also I don't think I will be needing an OS.
  2. So i have a semi beefy pc. but after all these issues i'm basically just saying, "F*ck it." Now that I know how PCs work and all, i wanna make something cool. water-cooled maybe, As for a budget, idk. something around 1000. I've got 600 currently and will be selling my current PC to turn around into a new one. I'm quite unknowledgeable about current CPUs, especially with the new Ryzens. I currently have an AMD 8320 8 core. I basically want the biggest bang for my buck here. The Ryzen 5 1600x and Intel i5 7600k have my eye.. I focus on: Gaming, Recording/Streaming, Video Playback, Work (Typing/Photo Editing like PS). I don't care much about the CPU. I think for a GPU I may stick with what i have now (MSI Gtx GeForce 1060 6gb) I think i can take care of the case/cooling but i need help with main components like the Cpu and such. Thanks.
  3. soooo I'm building a new computer at the end of the month! My budget is about 15000 SEK, 1 850 USD, 2 319 CAD. I want a small case that still has ATX support, so its leaning towards the Phantek P300. Mainly because I love the way thay have separated the lower and upper part of the case. Im going with RGB(ofc...), so the ASUS stixx cards is a good alternative because i want to use ASUS Aura. butt thay are so long so i cant fitt in a 280 rad. Should i choose a other card or go with air/140mm rad? the parts im looking in to is : CPU: Intel Core I5-8600k 2500 SEK(308,38USD) MOBO: Asus Prime Z370-A 1500SEK(191USD) GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Strix Gaming Advanced 5300SEK(653USD) RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB LED DDR4 PC24000/3000MHz 16GB 2000SEK(246USD) M.2: Samsung 960 1300SEK(160USD) PSU: EVGA 650 GQ 800SEK(98USD) Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3? 650SEK(80USD) Case: Phanteks Eclipse P300 600SEK(73USD) https://www.prisjakt.nu/list.php?l=3562470&view=l are they something you would change?
  4. Plan to build a PC

Hey guys, My plan is to build a PC this year (in May probably). My budget will be around 1000 to 1500 euro's. What are some recommendations to put into this build? Thnx in advance - Tom Tech
  5. Im going to build a new pc in some time, but i wanted to know If The parts i chose would work together, so here they are. 6. I need to build a new Work slave, my old Rig is dying and will not be able to keep up with the future loads I need to be handled. I am an avid Linux user that needs microshit to get things done, so I want to go with virtualization and direct throughput of my second GPU. I will use my 1070 that I already own for this. My budget is around 4.5k, but I am willing to spend more if there is a reason to. Work that will be done on this Rig will include: Linux (hardened-arch - i3gaps) Organisation (emacs, taskwarrior, etc.) Web development & smaller python projects Browsing and Office Cybersecurity related Research using multiple VM's Windows (7) 3D (Cinema 4D, Sculptor and similar) Adobe Suite (After Effects, Premiere & Photoshop) Plugin heavy 4k rendering & Motion tracking Gaming, for recording & Streaming I will be using the Atomos Ninja Now I am aware of the NTP bug with Threadripper and KVM, so, for the time being, I will go with ESIX instead. Are there any Downsides to that? I am also a bit torn between Threadripper and Intel, factoring in Meltdown and Spectre and Adobes infertility to support new Tech. After Effects scrubbing is a lot worse with a high amount of cores then with less, links to reference Videos: Computer #1 has a 4,4GhZ Overclocked 6 core Intel CPU: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mqqcm9ff9blfmck/AfterEffects_6core4.4Ghz.mp4?dl=0 Computer #2 has an Overclocked 1950X Threadripper 3.8GhZ CPU: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lalh1gm0z0emxwe/AfterEffects_threadripper.mp4?dl=0 I am planning to the following setup of disk space/Devices: Windows M.2 for OS/Software/Games 1TB M.2 for ProjectFiles M.2 for Dedicated Cache Linux Single M.2 for everything General 4TB data & 4TB backup / Archive 10TB Video Backup (Have a 100TB NAS 65% filled acting as Archive for this Drive) I also have a bunch of 500GB - 4TB drives flying around. Monitors: My primary requirements are IPS and 100% of the RGB space without light bleed. Secondary but not optional would be at least 120hz for Gaming, preferably 144hz at least 2k - sadly AW is delayed with its 4k 144hz monitor which I will get if it holds what they promise. Optionally I would love to give G-sync a shot I want to have a 4 Monitor setup with a big TV, so I need 5 Outputs, one or two for Windos and three or four for Linux. For the Hardware itself: As already touched on the CPU... I wager to think that it is of more value to have those 32 threads to be able to make use of with virtualization? I hope to be able to OC to 4GHz. 4x16gb RAM @ 3200 to futureproof and maybe upgrade when prices normalize again A GTX 1080 Ti and 1070 that I own already I want a big case that can comfortably fit a custom loop. Oh yeah, did I mention custom water cooling? *EDIT1: Missed to enter my PcPartPicker link to what I would choose: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kRdxLD I am very grateful for any input, I will update this thread as we finalize the Plan and there will be a Buildlog with proper Cinematographic videos
  7. Situation Overview I currently own a Lenovo Y410P "Gaming" Laptop and I am considering up grading to a desktop workstation or to a used Wacom Mobile Studio Pro 16". My laptop can run blender with it's current specs. (GeForce GT 755M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ Processor 6M Cache 4 Cores and 8 Threads, up to 3.40 GHz, 8GB of DDR3L SDRAM w/ 1600 MHz memory speeds, but I am kind of tired of it. I could just get new peripherals like a mouse, key board, and new monitor. My current mouse is the Logitech G300S, my laptop keyboard has the "W" cap broken off, and the monitor of the y410p is 1600 x 900 and has terrible viewing angles and color accuracy. My question is should I just upgrade completely or hold on to my laptop and get new peripherals or just buy a prebuilt system? Programs I would like to use... Blender 2.8 (3D Modeling Program, the most computer intense program of the three.) Krita (Open source Photoshop clone) OpenToonz (2D Animation Program) My Main Computer Criteria Are... Color Accurate Monitor with at least a 1080 x 1920 resolution for 3D model creation, photo editing, and digital painting. Quality Mechanical Keyboard and Mouse Combo. (NO RGB) Blender "Optimal" Production Grade Hardware 64-bit eight core CPU 16 GB RAM Two full HD displays with 24 bit color Three button mouse and graphics tablet Dual OpenGL 3.2 compatible graphics cards with 4 GB RAM I don't think I will be able hit the "Optimal Hardware" for blender with my budget once you add in peripherals, but I would like to hit somewhere in the middle range of performance between "Optimal" and my current computer. I feel like I should try to shoot for... Realistic Computer Stats 64-bit six core CPU 16 GB RAM (or maybe 8GB RAM) One full HD display with 24 bit color Three button mouse and graphics tablet One OpenGL 3.2 compatible graphics cards with 4 GB RAM Questions My question is which CPU & GPU manufactures are best for the programs I want to run. What advantages are there in the Intel CPU ecosystem as opposed to the AMD Ryzen ecosystem? (Ex: Intel CPU's support Thunderbolt) What advantages are there in the NVidia GPU ecosystem as opposed to the AMD Vega ecosystem? (Ex: NVidia G-Sync) If you have any questions for me such as needing more information about my current setup or desired PC workstation qualities feel free to ask away. Thank you for your time. - LXXVII Fold P.S. DEW U NO DE WAY? (to build a $2,000 Blender focused PC workstation?)
  8. PC BUILD HELP

So recently i made a post about which Gpu is better.. The Msi Gtx 1080 Aero vs Armor 8gb. This is my pc build. Is there anyway to keep the performance of this pc but decrease the price of this pc? I want to keep a budget so i can buy peripherals.. I have about a 1200ish budget for the pc itself.. I want to be able to Play/Stream cureent games like Fortnite/Pubg at more than 60fps.. Have any clues to save some cash on this build below??? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3KRC2R Thanks ~Merrymaan
  9. I got a QNAP TS-531X a few days ago. It's running 5 x 8 TB Seagate IronWolf in RAID5. While I do actually quite like the system, one thing is really bugging me... It takes about 8 minutes to fully boot up. I know that not running it 24/7 but turning it off and on all the time isn't to good for the HDDs but there's nothing I can do about that atm as I have to keep it in a room with my bed for the time being. Now everytime I have to access some data quickly and it's off I have to wait the 8 minutes until I can access it. Is it something common with QNAP NASes that they take ages to boot up? I actually wanted to build a NAS myself with custom components but wasn't able to find a case that's small enough to fit in my shelf… Is there some case that has about the dimensions of my QNAP NAS (7.28 (H) x 8.29 (W) x 9.27 (D) inch) or if not, do Synology NASes boot faster? Thanks in advance for any answers
  10. Hi there, I'm new to this forum so go easy:))) I built my PC back in 2012, so everything is now super outdated except from the MSI 970 I put inside 2 years ago (still old by today's tech I know, but new as hell compared to everything else inside the system) I'm looking to upgrade/replace/add some parts and I'd love some help with this, since I know this forum is riddled with knowledge on the latest and greatest! To start off with, I'm looking for someone to sell me on if I should go with AMD or Intel, with all the new CPUs that have recently come out. Which will best fits my needs? I'm not on a gigantic 2k18 Linus budget or anything, but I'm looking to run lots and lots of chrome tabs smoothly and also game at high settings (not at the same time). To go along with whichever CPU you think I should choose, I need a Micro ATX motherboard to go along with it - and seeing as its 2018, one with RGB lighting - if that's even a thing on MATX motherboards? A MATX motherboard means an MATX case, something like a Corsair Air 240/Thermaltake Core V21 is what I'm going for here, open to suggestions - I want to fit a H100i inside so take that into consideration. Finally, I'm looking to purchase the best budget SSD and 16GB memory kit I can find. The SSD only needs to store my OS to be honest, maybe one or two games, and I'd like the memory not to look like complete trash inside the small form factor, godly PC I'm building here to replace my BitFenix Shinobi, 2k12 extreme build with (excuse my bad internet humour). Any and all help with this is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. All the best - Eliott
  11. My budget is mostly under 900$ and I'm in the USA. I basically just need advice on the RAM, the PSU, Case, and the GPU. This build is for 1080p gaming with a balance of high settings that stay in constant 60fps in all games. I plan on using 1 monitor for this. I'm upgrading to this build because I currently can't play games on my gaming laptop as I hoped, and is not working correctly in the 1 year I've had it. I feel like it's time for me to finally build my own system. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GM8Z4C Can a Ryzen 5 1600 CPU still run games well on 8GBs? If so, what 3200Mhz 8GB stick is there? I chose to go with the 1060 3gb because the 6gb has gotten a spike in price, so I'm hoping by the time I actually buy the stuff the 6gb version gets cheaper. For the case, does anyone know if it has good space for cable management and easy access when building the system? And lastly, is that a good PSU? Should I change it to bronze and semi-modular to make it cheaper? Thank you!
  12. Hey guys I would love some help with planning on building a fairly low budget computer, I would like to be able to do anything from playing minecraft to playing gta 5 with just about 60 fps and If possible recording mid range games in between those two. I have been looking into computers for a while now but honestly cant figure out a good setup, every time I am close to deciding on one plan I see a video or something about how I could improve it. My budget is around 500-800$ preferably lower at all possible, I already have windows installer so that takes some money off and yeah. If you guys have any suggestions or possibly a whole guide for me that would be awesome Most likely wont be buying it for a while though still need to gather more money and hopefully waiting for ram prices to go down again Also I already have a case in mind and it does not take away from the budget so yeah, NXXT H440 Case
  13. So with all the CPU craziness from INTEL this year with literally 5 different CPU Chipsets coming out in less that 18 Months (Skylake, Skyake X, Kabylake, Kabylake X, Coffeelake), and with Miners snatching up cards for gamers I thought I would share my thoughts and start this obviously polarizing....um poll. Now as I always say if you NEED a new computer right not completely disregard this thread. But I am going to share my thoughts on why I think people should wait 3-4 months right now to build a new pc. (Again unless you need something like RIGHT now) 1. CPU releases - April 12th we get our first batch of Ryzen 2nd gen cpu's with the rest releasing in April. These also have APU's (like HD graphics for Intel) which will provide more options for consumers. Intel is also coming out with their official coffeelake release with their new chipset and supposedly 8 core coffeelake. So it makes sense to hold off to see what both sides have to offer. 2. GPU prices - Now I don't have anything against anyone trying to make extra money, but holy christ we gamers are hurting right now. You can't find a GPU thats not inflated (if you can find one) even the high end Nvidia gpus are up $50-$100 or more over MSRP. I don't think mining is going anyway anytime soon, but we should hopefully have better stocks at the end of Q1 increasing availability and bringing down price. 3. New CES releases - Besides CPU's and GPU's there is a slew of peripherals, and cases coming out, and you might as well see what options you will have in the next 3 months. 4. Tax returns (For those who get them) - For those of you who can't budget, tax return season is always a financial windfall. In fact many businesses bank on this. During this time many sales come out to get consumers to purchase their products so waiting for some competitive pricing options, and have more money to spend is never a bad thing. Feel free to pick your poll option, or other and leave comments below.
  14. I was just wondering if this build is good enough to play and recording in 1080p with 60fps. The games I play are the doom series, AoE series, CoD, Star Wars battlefront 2, and etc. PC Build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Fs3tm8
  15. Aiming to build a mini ITX build in a small portable size at hopefully under $1000. Capable of running games such as GTA V and Far Cry 4 easily. So far I've got this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nWZwwV It's probably also important to know that I am off to Uni this year so will also be using it for programs related to design and architecture.
  16. Overwatch pc build

hello guys my gaming laptop kinda died so i want to build a gaming pc i only play overwatch and my budget is 400-600, i want 144fps on low 1080p
  17. I was wondering if anyone could give me a PC build that looks REALLy good. I want to build a computer and I know this is kind of dumb and vain but I want it to look very very good. My criteria is below: The build should look very good The build, if it has RGB lighting should have it so it is able to customize and control the lighting through preferably aura sync but some other program will work The build should be able to handle games such as overwatch with a 1440p monitor at 144fps on mid to high settings The build should preferably stay under 1400 dollars but I can give or take ~100 The build should be in a nice tempered glass case to see it's beauty I know this is a lot to ask for and if it's impossible that's okay but please try to get as close to my criteria as possible. (the most important things for me is the performance but looks is alos huge) Thank you so much BTW I don't need a hard drive as I already have one. P.S Below I have included some more info. 1. Budget & Location $1500, US New York 2. Aim Gaming computer. The main game I will be running will be Overwatch at hopefully mid to high settings. 3. Monitors 1440p 165hz when overclocked w/ g sync (25 inch) 4. Peripherals No need to include OS I already have mouse + keyboard + headset. 5. Why are you upgrading? Because currently I have a potato 7 year old mac that can't run Minecraft at a stable 60fps on mid settings...
  18. Hey guys, I am planning to build my own PC to be used for music production and sound design, with capabilities for decent gaming on the side. I'm looking at a budget of around AU$2500-3500 and I'd prefer it to be as portable as possible (Mini ITX maybe?) but also powerful enough to handle multiple tracks and automations at the same time. I currently own an Acer Swift 5 laptop with a Core i7-7500U that quite frequently tops out when playing back heavily automated compositions, creating nasty static sounds (Which I assume is artefacting) and making it very hard to mix. It also only has 8GB RAM, which I am finding to be not enough when I have lots going on at once. I amlooking to get a 7700K or similarly spec'd CPU, 16-32GB RAM, GTX 1050Ti or similar GPU and possibly Thunderbolt 3 capabilities (would be nice later down the track). RGB would be cool but obviously not sensible if the build was in an ITX case without a window. I am looking into four different options: Build in the Silverstone Milo ML08 Mini ITX case (has a handle for extra portability which is quite handy, excuse the pun) Build in a compact ATX case that has a window and deck out the hardware with RGB Get an MSI Vortex G25 (has the specs I need and is somewhat customisable) Get a Macbook Pro + eGPU for gaming at home (I am told that Macs are much better for music production than PC's) What do you guys think is the best option? Can you guys link me any previous builds for music producers with similar budgets? Do you think I should look for a different spec list? Let me know .
  19. One faithful day (that I regret in hindsight), I decided to splurge my cash on Amazon and buy a bunch of water cooling parts for my crap-tastic PC, cause why in the world not? My PC was an Intel G3258 clocked at 4.0 GHz and a GTX 750ti. Stupid. Temps after running Prime95 for 20 minutes on air cooling averaged around 80 degrees Celsius. Not great, but it was the Intel stock cooler after all. So after 2 days of drilling holes to fit oversized screws, forcibly wedging undersized tubing into barb fittings and half-hazardly flushing my loop, I've finally turned my previous pile of air cooled garbage: Into this majestic beauty: Safe to say, I look edgy and was half-blinded by the UV-reactive coolant inside the tubes. So how's the thermal performance you wonder? Well...... Despite a 20 degree Celsius reduction in heat output, overclocking that little bitch still was fruitless. I've gained a total of 0.1 GHz overclock on that stupid CPU, and my Overwatch still stutters 😱 God bless me and Ryzen here I come.
  20. Beginners new build

I am new to this and this is my first build so I'm not completely sure in some things. I am mostly going to use it for gaming, detailed gaming like call of duty ww2, racing games etc. The case and graphic cards cant change cause already have them. I do wanna keep it fairly cheap. What im wondering is how quick it will be? Any bottlenecks? Is it a solid setup? Here is my list: 1. Core i5 - 8600k 3.6Ghz 6 core cpu 2. Asrock fatal 1 z370 professional gamming motherboard 3. Corsair vengeance LPX ddr4 16 gb ram 4. Samsung 850 evo ssd 250 gb 5. Seagate - barracuda 2tb hard drive (2 of them) 6. GeForce gtx 1080 sc gpu ( 2 of them) 8. Thermaltake core x9 case 9. Corsair rmx 850 watt http://(https://pcpartpicker.com/list/w9hpd6) / [Price breakdown by merchant]
  21. I will mainly be playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 not much else.
  22. Hello, I'm building a pc for the first time ever and I was hoping to get some tips, feedback, and criticism on the parts I have picked out. I have saved up for over 10 years ever since middle school in the hope of making my own rig. Here is the list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TddpZ8 I would love to get any sort of help. I still don''t know much about overclocking or Raid. I also would like to know if I should wait for new better parts on the horizon and push back the build. Anything helps and my final line for the budget is that it should be under $5500 U.S. Also, RGB would be nice
  23. Warachnid's Rig

This is a PC rig I've had since march of 2017: - GTX 1080 8GB Founders Edition - i7-7700 (Clocked @ 3.6Ghz) - 16GB DDR4 2400mhz Dual-Channel RAM (The motherboard and PSU are alienware branded. I don't know the models and can't find them anywhere anymore. 800w PSU.)
  24. I'm going to be buying a new PC soon and I was wondering if this build would be good enough for PUBG and CSGO at 1080p. Build:https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fJYMPs (I won't be doing any overclocking so I hope the Wraith Spire is good enough) Thanks in advance!
