  1. Hey Guys! I'm building a budget PC for a friend, this is what I've got so far. The budget is £700, peripherals need to be bought (this is a first PC) but they can be outside the budget, although it would be nice to save something for them. The main games that would be played with it are Skyrim and GTAV. He's fine with medium-high settings but high would be nice (1080p 60fps). I don't have much experience with AMD GPUs so I've stayed clear of them but if there is an AMD GPU that would go well in this please do recommend it. My main concern with the system right now is that he wants it to last him a long time and I'm concerned that the CPU is a bit old and may quickly become outdated. Also upgradeability is a nice plus (primarily RAM and storage). Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
  2. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/gdizzyboy/saved/RscJxr Just looking to see if there's anything I perhaps missed or should consider changing. Also, if anyone has a good estimate to the PSU needed it would be appreciated, the calculators I used from Cooler-master and Outer-vision gave me to different ratings ranging from 330 - 500 roughly. Much appreciated guys! (p.s Looking for a strong monitor with 1ms RT and 144Hz, Does not need G-sync)
  3. I have a budget of $500 also for some if the parts it was cheaper to get them through Amazon because my wife and I both work at a Fulfillment Center so we get a discount on the website. Also I was able to save some cash by Ccarrying over my Rx 460. This build will be used for gaming and video editing. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Newegg parts Amd ryzen 5 1600+ ASRock ab350m board bundle ($271) Vivo smart micro atx case ($34.99) Open box silicon power 8gb ddr4 2400mhz ($60) 8gb flash drive to install windows 10 ($5.99) Amazon Toshiba 1tb hdd ($41.99) Patriot torch 128b sdd ($51) Thermaltake 500w psu (39.99) The total before my %10 is $511.92 but it should be under $500 once it's added.
  4. Hey all, So this will be my first build since 2013 and will be my venture back to AMD thus the title.... so is the official color of AMD orange now (Ryzen color). Anyway, the new Ryzen platform has got me excited to get back into an AMD system. I currently only have my MSI GS63VR laptop as my main computer and would like a desktop to take some load off this laptop from running it's fans @ 100% at all times lol. The use for this will be mostly gaming (Destiny 2, Diablo 3, Titanfall 2, CS-GO), Adobe Premiere 4k video editing, and streaming 4k to my TV. I will be accumulating the parts over a month period to lighten the punch on my wallet. So far I just placed an order for a Ryzen 1700x and a Gigabyte AX370 Gaming K3 Motherboard. I'm still not sure what I will be doing with the rest of the parts so any recommendations are welcome especially memory. I'm having a hard time picking something that will be compatible. Gigabytes website only lists 5 that are tested compatible with this mobo. Typing in the P/N for these are only showing up with some insane priced 64gb - 128gb kits with 6 sticks of ram. (something is wrong there with gigabytes P/N's on their PDF). Anyway. I will post here as things arrive and start coming together. Rough idea of what is to come besides the CPU and Mobo: Samsung Evo 960 NVME M.2 500gb 850 watt Modular PSU of some sort Either a Nvidia 1070 or 1080... (not a TI) 16gb of DDR4 3200 EKWB basic water cooling kit? (not sure yet) RGB all things NZXT S340 or Corsair Carbide 400c case. Thank you!!
  5. [Build Log] Apollo

A P O L L O - B U I L D L O G Current specifications: CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 Extreme Liquid CPU Cooler RAM: 16GB Corsair 2666mhz Vengeance LPX DDR4 GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Ranger ROG Board Operating System: Windows 10 Home (64-bit) Hard Drive: Samsung 250GB 850PRO Evo SSD Secondary Hard Drive: 1TB Case: NZXT H440 2015 Black PSU: RM 650x 12/05/17 : A splash of white? I've had this system for a while now and I'd decided it was time to change the theme.. It didn't really have one to start with so I should say give it a theme! Here's how we began... Standard and uncoordinated. Now for that splash of white.. We started with the black corsair DDR4 Memory. I masked off the PCB and spray painted the heat-spreader white using standard spray paint; some have suggested temperature resistant paint. The issue I have with that is that it means the heat-spreader retains more heat vs using a standard spraypaint which is rated for fairly high temperatures anyway. Some people also suggest removing the memory unit from the heat-spreader prior to painting, you may opt for this if you cant mask off the areas effectively. I'm not overly proud of the paint job but you only see the apical surface anyway. The next step was painting the VRM heatsink + The southbridge heatsink + The 4 CPU pump screws For this, I removed them from the Mobo and masked off the thermal pads along with the sides and inner fins to avoid too much heat retention. Again, I used standard spraypaint vs plasti dip as the layer of spray paint is much thinner than the plastidip coating thus less heat is retained. To be certain the heat sinks capacity to dissipate heat hadn't been affected too much I ran an AIDA64 benchmark, the temperatures for these aforementioned regions remained the same as prior to painting. Again, not particularly proud of the painting, this was my first time after all.. In addition to the painting I also purchased some CableMod individually sleeved white cables. After reattaching the heat sinks to the motherboard I then replaced all cables and re-installed my Corsair H100i v2, using some Arctic MX4 and the Arcti-Clean system. Noting that this and probably just reinstalling the pump a little tighter has reduced my stress test temperatures by around 10C. A touch of light was in order since my system was behind a smoke glass window.. So I decided to install NZXT's HUE+ and their Aer RGB120 Series 120 mm RGB LED Fan. And this was the final result.. Very pleased with the result. Currently waiting on NZXT's USB header hub for some additional cable management. I also have to cable-tie the white braided cables within the view of the window to keep them trained.
  6. So I am trying to help a friend build a pc and he is looking to spend about 750 on a pc and I am having some trouble build a good one for that price because he wants it to be with intel and nvidia and if anyone has a build with that for this price it would really help
  7. Hi, so i'm looking to build a budget PC, for my 13 year old step son. It will be his first pc. Not really looking to spend over 400 GBP. thinking a am4 platform is looking good. The use of it will be for unity, basics and building his knowledge base up. He will have a low gb ssd to boot. and ill sort it so all saves go to HDD. barracuda 2tb at around 55 quid is good for me. looking for am4 platform as i say. possible a micro atx or mini atx build. video card will be needed so again a low end radeon possibly around the 120 pounds mark. hopefully with built in wifi mobo. cooler will be a hyper 212 x, storage sorted ram.. wont need much over 16gb id think. as for cpu and thread count im not sure how much it needs hence asking for help. cases... well quite like the look of a couple of the new fractals. psu will most likely be a seasonic 450w for about 50 quid. But ultimately. the pc will be used for: low level developer in unity. school work. lol. internet surfing. maybe small amount of gaming. but nothing crazy. so so yep. Any help appreciated in helping bring the costs down as much as possible. haha. Cheers all. Mike
  8. The Breadbox (~2.3L box of fun)

It has finally begun, the project involving a case that's only 2.3L in volume, whilst able to fit dual slot cards up to a length of 170mm. And after a year of planning... I've only managed to cut out the panels for the case itself (Dimensions are 17*14.7*9.5, Width*Depth*Height). Specs: CPU: i5-6600k Cooler: Silverstone AR04 (it's an adorable little heatsink) Motherboard: ASRock H110M-STX (chosen due to the PCIe x4 3.0 M.2 slot) RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR4-2800 1x8GB (cheaper than any 2133 kits so why not?) Storage: Plextor M6s 128GB SSD + a Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD that I found in a box (that'll be mounted somewhere outside the case) Graphics card: I don't know probably a Sapphire Pulse ITX RX 570 or (if applicable) an RX Vega Nano card PSU(s): A Delta 120W brick for the motherboard, and probably a HDPLEX 80W AC-DC unit combined with a 160W DC-DC with some circuitry to make it turn on at the same time as the motherboard's brick Other: A generic M.2 to PCIe x4 adapter, and a generic (though probably going to be switched to 3M) x4 to x16 powered riser. Warning: Really shitty hardware photos. Case plan dimension things (courtesy of @Ryan_Vickers): Current progress: Calculation for internal volume is 17*9.5*(14.7-3) + (9.5 - 2*3)*17*3 + (pi*(3^2)/2)*17 = 2308.3818383 (2.3L) Some people wanted to see this (I think): @Daring @Bananasplit_00
  9. I want to get a new PC because my current one is a laptop running on integrated graphics and I want to be able to do things like Blender, UE4, and maybe some gaming occasionally. I do not plan on overclocking that is why I didn't choose a overclockable cpu or motherboard. I do not trust overclocking. Please let me know what you thing and any suggestions on making it better (Preferably none that will push it over $950). Thanks! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4K4xwV
  10. https://de.pcpartpicker.com/user/Cpp/saved/2wdXHx Can this build run most vr games for example superhot vr or job simulator or tiltbrush at decent fps? I know weird hdd and ram combo but this is a temporary build so only for a few months so I want to get the best gpu possible. Budget 500-560€ Only for VR and gaming!, no netflix, no spotify, no editing. I will most likely overclock (for the first time) so is this build overclockable? Case with window is a must :D.
  11. Parts: Asus prime B350 plus AM4 Ryzen 5 1600X Noctua NH-U12S AM4 Asus dual gtx 1060 6gb OC Seasonic S12-II 620W Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 3200MHz The computer turns on. Fans are spinning, but no HDMI signal on my BenQ LED monitor. I have tried different video cables and tried plugging them into the motherboard and gpu. (Btw, does someone know if the PCI slot on my motherboard is supposed to be glowing red? Even when it has a gpu in it?) Anyways, could this have something to do with my bios version? Im going to check my ram later today, but apart from that, what else can the problem be? Thanks
  12. My first ever PC

Hey everyone! So I was using core i7 laptops for over 3 years, but since I don't travel that much anymore, I think it's time for me to build my very first PC. I'm almost sure I want a Ryzen 5 1600, and at least 8 gigs of RAM. But the videocard I'm not so sure about. I'm using my computers for photo and video editing and 3D modeling (in inventor) Can you guys suggest a setup? I live in Hungary, and my budget is 1000 US$. I don't need monitor keyboard and mouse. Thank you for your help!
  13. I am looking to see if it is possible to build a laptop. Does anyone have any ideas about how to do this? Is it even possible?
  14. I want to start designing my own ATX computer case (professionally). The reason for this is because after spending hours, days, months and years of research and looking for a perfect case that has everything from; looks, sound cancelation, feel, function, easy mounting, cable management ext. ext. I have not found it. I need your help, what does a 2018 ATX computer case need? Also I am in need of some basic blueprint for all the mounting holes, anyone? Feel free to reply, thank you!
  15. Help planning 1080p 60 pc

Hey guys, i want to build a new 1080p 60fps rig and would like some suggestions on where it's best to cut costs and make it affordable while not being too overkill (1080 ti) I plan to play older games like the mass effect trilogy , risen , dragon age, thief, and I would like to target 1080 60 on those at max settings and occasionally play the odd new game like prey or witcher 3 in 1080 60 with some tweaked settings if need be. I have all peripherals jus to need suggestions on gpu CPU( I prefer ryzen 1700 just because of cost to performance ratio and relative future proofing) storage psu ram and cooling. Also for the case of you guys can recommend some good tempered glass chassis I'd appreciate it, I've been in a trance over that thermaltake p5 but That price slapped me out of it so I'd like a beautiful nice affordable tempered glass . ( I believe I heard news of aorus coming out with affordable ones? Not 100% though) Thanks a lot! Any advice is welcome!
  16. 1960s PC

Finished 1960s inspired desktop case, hand made by me! What do you think? I'd love some feedback
  17. I am building a new PC and I need some suggestions on a video card, case, monitors and whatever else you can recommend. I think I want 1080p since im not doing much gaming any more and with 1440p I would need to get a 1080 gpu and I think that would be too overkill since I dont play games that often. Whatever suggestions you can give me I would gladly listen. EDIT: Budget: Probably up to ~$2300 including peripherals and everything. Aim: I do some gaming but not a whole lot, however I would still like to be able to play on 1080p with great frames. I do some video and photo editing as well as software development and obviously web surfing. Monitors: I want 2 monitors. I have thought about going ultrawide but it is just so expensive and I think 2 monitors would probably be more practical. Peripherals: I need peripherals as this is a brand new system. Why am i upgrading: I need a new system for a new location. Thanks BUILD: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/M26tZ8
  18. 19. I'm planning on building a PC, but I'm wondering if it is possible to install Windows 10 on a computer running Ubuntu. What I mean is can I install Windows 10 with the Ubuntu UX running using the upgrade assistant or am I plain crazy for wondering if this will work or not? Thanks peoples
  20. CyberPowerPc

Hi guys, I've been browsing, researching, watching videos on gaming laptops for the past 2 days straight. I've ran through MSI, Asus, Lenovo, etc. and had hard time choosing which one is best for me. Although, I am new to the "building/customizing your own laptop" thing I ran into Cyberpowerpc, I thought that they offer great customization options, they even offer free or discounted components and accessories which is great! So that I won't have to spend more money on accessories and whatnot. But I have only a budget of a little around $1000 and I have devised myself a laptop that would satisfy me in Cyberpowerpc. Though, I don't know if I can trust Cyberpowerpc since I have no experience from this company whatsoever, although I have "heard" that they have sentsome defective components in the past from people who've had them, but that was from a PC review. I don't know if they can be trusted or not in the laptop side. They all look good and seem and everything but are they worth it?

  23. Upgrading from laptop

Hi everyone! I have a friend who's upgrading from a laptop to a PC, mainly gaming and social media, no streaming needs. since I'm a bit rusty about PC builds (I stopped around 2012..) I wanted a second opinion before the purchase. https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/DDKvr7 Budget: 1'200€ (can stretch to 1'300€ but I don't think we'll hit it) Main purpose: 1080p Gaming, 1 monitor only (also any advice on it will be helpfull, 75hz would be nice but probably will end up out of budget) no problems with >5ms, an IPS would be really appreciated CPU: Intel - Core i5-7500 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (€184.05 @ Amazon Italia) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (€54.99 @ Amazon Italia) Thermal Compound: ARCTIC - MX4 4g Thermal Paste Motherboard: MSI - H270 PC MATE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (€87.99 @ Amazon Italia) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (€77.98 @ Amazon Italia) Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive EDIT: we found a 500 Ssd from a third party! no need to buy it anymore! Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€80.99 @ Amazon Italia) Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB G1 Gaming Video Card (€358.52 @ Amazon Italia) Case: Corsair - C70 Military Green (Green) ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Cooler Master - 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Case Fan: ARCTIC - Arctic F12 74.0 CFM 120mm Fan (€6.17 @ Amazon Italia) Monitor: Samsung - C24F390 24.0" 1920x1080 60Hz Monitor Headphones: Kingston - HyperX Cloud II 7.1 Channel Headset (€89.99 @ Amazon Italia) Total: €940.68 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-09-17 12:11 CEST+0200 We use Amazon Italy for prices and availability (it's a bit a mess because prices keeps changing every day so we add camel camel to check if we're in the low or high price range for that product) EDIT: I found out Newegg ships in Italy too, (they have differents stocks tho) so we can go with that too. but I know I'm asking too much so just stick for the hardware and we'll get the prices from where it's cheaper) -I wonder if 6gb of Vram aren't overkill for a mid-range gpu -also the RAM will get another 8gb stick probably around end of November or December. -for the CPU we were uncertain between 7400 and 7500 due to the low price difference, and I don't know how much "worth" is the extra money to get a K CPU and a Zchipset for overclocking vs actual performances (since for gaming it would be mainly the GPU, so I'd rather spend the extra 60-70€ on a GPU than on an OC CPU/Mobo combo) -for the PSU we get a suggested 450W from the PSU calculator, but that one was the best between our final circle to choose from, feel free to pick a better one if you think it might be better quality (we don't care too much about modular or non-modular) -also if you have any suggestion for the Headphones/mic combo, that one is the bestselling but I don't like the virtual 7.1 gimmick or the USB exit -about Ryzen, I'm totally out of the loop about the latest updates, performance and so on.. but if you think you can get a good Performance/Price combo for the CPU/Mobo go for it. that's it, I hope to read some helpfull suggestions!
  24. Hello. I am building a a new pc and im a bit confused about the power supply i should get for my computer, even after doing quite a lot of research on the internet regarding the topic. These will be the specs of my new pc: Intel i5-7400 Gigabyte GA-Gaming B8 LGA 1151 motherboard Gigabyte Geforce gtx 1050TI 4GB DDR5 OC Corsair Memory 16GB (8GBx2) DDR4 Corsair Carbide SPEC-01 Case I have not yet decided on the storage and the cpu cooling system but i am most probably going to go forward with a air-cooled system rather than liquid cooled. The pcpartmaker site states that my system will require 220W of power, and after adding storage and additional fans im assuming it would reach to 300-330W. I have carefully selected my CPU and mobo as i am aware that i do not plan on overclocking my pc. The gpu also does not require a 6-pin connector and can get power directly from the PCI port. Now the best PSU option in my opinion is the Corsair VS450, which provides a continuous 450W supply and has 80plus rating, which i think is really good for its price. I have also looked at coolermaster products and Thermaltake Litepower products at the same price range but they do not seem as good as the corsair PSU. Both CM and thermaltake do not provide continuous supply specs on their sites. If any one of you has a better product in mind or any advice on the build i would really appreciate it. Do you think i should get a higher/lower wattage PSU? Do you have anything to say about the Corsair VS450? Thanks in advance. P.S. Please keep in mind that this is kind of a budget build
  25. Hey guys, sorry for *yet another* "I have this budget help me make a build?" thread, but yes, I have $1900 CAD and am looking for the best build for that price range (with monitor, got other peripherals). The budget is exactly $1900 (as opposed to "saving a bit more" for $2000) because I live on a fixed disability income and *barely* get enough monthly to survive, so saving more isn't really an option for me, it would take hypothetically around 6 months for that additional $100 to be able to be set aside, so I need to work with what I've got now. I'm not super fussed about whether it's AMD or Intel with the new AMD stuff out in the last while. I've been blue team for a loooong time, but only because of lack of new AMD stuff. But long story short for what I need to do with it, I do music production (Ram heavy, mildly processor heavy) and of course, gaming. I don't think it's possible to cram a 1080 in that price range also including a monitor, but I suppose a 1070 might be possible? Ideally I'd like everything to be available locally as I don't have a credit card, there's a Memory Express relatively close to me(Edmonton, Canada). Hopefully someone can help me get a good parts list going for my price range and I can check if my local memory express has the parts in stock, and it has to be in CAD, which is a problem. Everything is wayyy more expensive here. Edit: Another thing I should mention I'm not fussed about resolution, so if anyone has a monitor suggestion, ideally I'd just a decent 1080p IPS panel if it fits into the budget to squeeze some more frames out rather than anything higher than that. 23 inches is my "sweet spot" for a gaming monitor. Not too big, not too small. I have a monitor currently, but it's a ratty old 720P monitor I just use as a secondary/peripheral monitor for productivity, not for gaming. (I'm coming from a laptop)
