What kind of cooling best fits a "white out" themed build? Sub-zero, of course! And how exactly do you get sub-zero cooling? Well, the way that WE did it was through a phase change system... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4d0B0Dli-1g&feature=youtu.be I'm going to list out the components as well as provide a source or two for where you can get them I can't tell you where to buy this stuff, but I do lean towards NCIX for the Canadians (and International viewers if their pricing and shipping costs work out for you) because they're my bros, and for Americans, Brits, and a couple other regions, the Amazon links below are affiliate links, so of course every little bit helps CORE COMPONENTS CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K Unlocked Four Core Processor with HyperThreading NCIX: http://bit.ly/1FMxUfK Amazon: http://geni.us/afZ SSD: Intel 730 Series NCIX: http://bit.ly/1OoU5Nd Amazon: http://geni.us/30Cb Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Mark S NCIX: http://bit.ly/1IE3LTN Amazon: http://geni.us/1jhU Case: LD Cooling PC-V10 NCIX: http://bit.ly/1yhGMu7 Amazon: http://geni.us/1h06 LD Cooling: http://bit.ly/1O44X0Y Video Card: GALAX GTX 980 Hall of Fame NCIX: http://bit.ly/1yhGTFV Amazon: http://geni.us/3G59 GALAX: http://bit.ly/1GAWrHK RAM: 32GB HyperX Fury White NCIX: http://bit.ly/1GAWy5Z Amazon: http://geni.us/3Jym Power Supply: Corsair AX860i NCIX: http://bit.ly/1aFq2lE Amazon: http://geni.us/S0M Mouse: Corsair Sabre RGB NCIX: http://bit.ly/1CFWyu5 Amazon: http://geni.us/4EGi Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB NCIX: http://bit.ly/1aFq5Oh Amazon: http://geni.us/2hLX Monitor (gaming): Acer XB270HU Bprz 27in WQHD G-SYNC IPS 144HZ LED Monitor NCIX: http://bit.ly/1z7Ih94 Amazon: http://geni.us/1Hqk Cooling Components CPU Heatsink: NCIX: http://bit.ly/1DznxfM Amazon: http://geni.us/1h06 LD Cooling: http://bit.ly/1O44X0Y Extra Fans: NCIX: http://bit.ly/1D8Lppg Amazon: http://geni.us/nvX

Hi there, after running plex off an old laptop and losing some (non critical) data I am finally taking the plunge into the dedicated NAS space. I have a good deal on a used pc and wanted to check if I was making any rookie mistakes. My use case is plex server + audiobook server + a few dockers + some webhosting (mainly for testing purposes) and just basic file sharing server for the family. Was planning on running TrueNas Scale. Used: CPU: 11400 RAM: 32gb ddr4 (2x16 not ecc) MOBO: Generic with hdmi and 1gbe + 4 sata connectors SSD: 1tb m.2 gen 3 PSU: 380W (comes with case) New: 3x12tb iron wolf drives running in raidz (raid5) PCIE Card: 2.5gbe Any of that massively over or under specced?

I don’t have a PC can someone check my pcpp build?
BiigDev posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
My Build I do not have a pc but I am one of those people that will spend more money in the start to save money and time in the future. I don’t know much about PCs but someone on discord made this build for me. I like rgb and want to know if I need an rgb controller or anything to help control the rgb. If I need an rgb controller I want to know how to use it and what a good one is. I want to know if these parts will all be compatible with each other and that they will all fit in the case. I am using this pc for streaming, gaming, and photo/video editing. Finally, I want to know if I should change out the monitor, keyboard, or mouse for something that could be a little better. -
Looking to do some creative mounting in order to fit more drives in my case. I have the thermaltake view 31, and it only has three drive sleds. I have 3 2.5 inch drives, and two 3.5 inch drives. Two of the 2.5 inch ones can share a single 3.5" sled, but I need a place to put the other 2.5 inch. My first thought would be to get one of those pci slot to 2.5 inch adapters, but that would look tacky with wires running everywhere. My second (and possibly more devious thought), would be to order something like this from caselabs, which adapts what looks like a 120mm fan mount into a drive cage. I don't know about any 120 mm fan to drive cage adapters out there, so let me know if you know of a good one. I'm also open to 3d printing one. Any comments, suggestions?

*If looking for pcpartpicker link skip to the end* (PSU Not included in pcpartpicker. Link below) Here I will be explaining on why I picked each of these parts and why I think they are more bang for the buck than what linus had done. Processor - Ryzen 5 1400 I decided over this cause it has cheaper motherboards without needing any of that bios update crap. Also I like this more than the i5's cause it has more threads. CPU Cooler - be quiet! - Shadow Rock Slim 67.8 CFM Rifle Bearing CPU Cooler Cheap be quiet! cooler compatible with Ryzen 5, I don't recommend getting a seperate cooler for this since the motherboard is not for overclocking and the wraith cooler does amazing at temp speeds anyways. But I just had to add a be quiet! cooler cause the video was sponsored by the company. Motherboard - MSI A320M GAMING PRO MOTHERBOARD Cheap motherboard on the AM4 chipset. Can be substituted for MSI A320M GRENADE. Memory - G.Skill Aegis 1x16gb or 2x8gb DDR4-2133 This is personal preference. If you are looking to add another ram stick in the future then get the 1x16gb kit. But if 16gb is enough for you then get the 2x8gb kit so you can set up your memory in dual channel. Storage - Seagate - Barracuda 1tb 3.5" 7200RPM HDD and Kingston SSDNOW UV400 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive. Fast enough ssd for a boot drive and a good reliable but cheap 1tb hard drive. Nothing else to say. Video Card/Graphics Card - Gigabyte - GEFORCE GTX 1070 8gb Windforce OC VIDEO CARD This videocard is one of the big reasons I can say this build is more bang for the buck than the build Linus made. Cause I have a more powerful GPU, You can also substitute this to a different aftermarket cooler if you want to add a little extra cash, It's all personal preference. Case - be quiet! Pure Base 600 w/ window (Black/Orange) ATX MID TOWER Still an awesome case, but I prefer others at this pricepoint but this is a sponsored build so I had to go with a be quiet! brand. The room for cable management and building is good. It's great for beginners, Power Supply - be quiet! Pure Power 10 CM 600W https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA68V5NC2060&ignorebbr=1 I just used the power supply linus used in the video.Since it was a be quiet! one. I also can't find it in pcpartpicker so here is the link Price: $990.2 pcpartpicker link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KsLpnn You don't have to directly follow this build guide if you don't want to like change the case for example etc. This is just to battle the build guide that linus had made. Cause I strongly disagree with the guide he made, I strongly do not recommend beginners and first time builders to follow that guide either cause you can get better at the same pricepoint. But if you disagree with a few things in this build guide then change it if you will. One of the great things about PCMR is you can make it however you want it. Thanks for reading everyone! Hope you like my build guide

@Slick@LinusTech@nicklmg@CPotter For those of you that don't know, LTT recently put out this video: Now, it's great that LTT is making another build guide, but I have MANY issues with this build. Here is a short list: A 1600 would be a much better choice. It would cost only a little more, comes with a better stock cooler, and can be OCed, not to mention on average the minimums and averages are higher, and in any multi threaded workloads it will crush (though that's not completely relevant, since this is a gaming build guide) You're using a B150 mobo with a Kaby Lake CPU. While most of the time there shouldn't be an issue, there are probably still some B150 mobos on shelves that have older bioses that don't support Kaby Lake on them. You only got 8gb RAM in a $1000 build. WTF? You bought an $80 cooler with a locked CPU and mobo. Wat. You got a $100 case, instead of a $65 one like the S340. At the very least, get the Pure Base 600 no window instead for $20 cheaper. You could've saved another $20 by getting something like an M12ii instead for the PSU. All the money saved by doing that allows us to fit a 1070 in the build, a GPU that is at least 25% more powerful from here (probably more since it's a top of the line 580 vs a founders 1070) Here is the PCPP list that evidences this: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor ($217.55 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: MSI B350 PC MATE ATX AM4 Motherboard ($81.99 @ B&H) Memory: Team Dark 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($99.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($80.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition Video Card ($379.99 @ Newegg) Case: be quiet! Pure Base 600 (Black/Silver) ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: SeaSonic 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($56.99 @ SuperBiiz) Total: $997.49 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-05-04 11:32 EDT-0400 A build that has a slightly better CPU, double the RAM, and at least around 30% faster GPU with the sacrifices only being the lack of a window and a worse CPU cooler (and maybe a slightly louder PSU, but it probably isn't by much). You see what I'm saying? Now I understand, LTT was sponsored by be quiet!. But that doesn't excuse recommending a build to possibly a MILLION people that could've been 30% faster for the EXACT SAME PRICE. Now yes, not a million people are going to lose out on that, but at least a few hundred people will PROBABLY use this as a base for their next pc. Instead, you could've used a $30 cooler from be quiet!. Or maybe could've used the same cooler, psu, and case in a $1500 build guide where you would be using a 7700k, where the parts would actually MAKE SENSE. The Ryzen 5/3 "previewed" videos were also a fail in a similar way, but those didn't cost people performance/money and you guys truly learned your lesson from those. But this? This is just misleading/hurting your OWN VIEWERS by costing them performance because of sponsorships. This is just bad, honestly. It's a new low, and I hope you guys will fix this, possibly by doing a followup video with a BETTER parts list using a 1600+1070. I wasn't really bothered by the thumbnails, and the Ryzen 5/3 previewed video seemed to teach you guys a lesson, but this is just flat out bad. I don't have words for how low you guys have gone in this video, to recommend people to spend money on useless things (like the CPU cooler) because of sponsorships. Again, I don't have anything against sponsorships, I know this is how quite a bit of your money is made, but when sponsorships mean you are HURTING your viewers, that's just flat out bad. I hope someone at LMG sees this, since you guys really need to reverse your mistake. EDIT: And for Ryzen, you can't make the argument that this was filmed before Ryzen 5 was launched, since you had a disclaimer in the video about the rx 580 which was launched a few weeks after Ryzen.

Hi peeps, I've got a question! You know the video Linus made: "Build the perfect gaming PC - Holiday Buyer's Guide 2016" (If you haven't seen it, check it out! It'll help you find you're PC during the holidays if you want to build one. Link: ) Well im planning on building the second one (1000$)! But the problem is that I've never built a computer. So I'm searching for help to comprehend how to build it. I'll appreciate any help from you guys that'll make me build it appropriately. I don't want my PC to explode because I built it wrongly. 1. budget and location. So this is easy USA, New York. Between 1300-1400 2. Aim Simple I need a workstation that can edit, encode and render 4k footage in h.264 and h.265 compression.(btw use Adobe premiere for those wondering) 3. Monitors 1@4k or 1@1440p (not owned but not part of PC budget) 4. Peripheral. Will need a monitor that's 4k good color gambit 5. Reason for upgrade Okay very simple reason I'm working on laptop right now and it's simply not cutting it in the Acer predator Helios 300 constantly overheating the screen is very small and working on a laptop is just overall uncomfortable for many hours I'd much rather be sitting at a desk with a PC and a laptop that can barely cut my work. A friend made a build here for me on pcpartpicker. com but I don't understand much of what I need to get job done so any and all help and comments welcome Link https://pcpartpicker.com/user/avatar19978/saved/H74whM (Stealing line from a post sorry) In short is this build gonna be good for what I need are there better options?

I was wondering if I could upgrade my processor and make my computer faster what would I be able to do with the motherboard and GPU I have. I Am trying to build a better PC for streaming on console and playing some games on the side but I would like to do both with high quality. In the picture I've included it has what kinda things I already have right now. Don't mind the specs being awful, I got the PC on Facebook swap for $200 which included many other things and I got my 1060 GPU for $50 brand new from a friend. I am also looking for a new computer case and some color changing RGB fans and stuff to spice things up a tad
