Hey everyone, I currently have a Buffalo CloudStor 2‑Bay NAS Server ‑ SATA 3Gb/s ‑ 1 TB. I've had this plugged into my router which I am usually able to access on my home network from most devices. I was also using Pogoplug to access this through the app and online. Pogoplug recently closed their cloud, and when this happened, I can't seem to access my NAS from anywhere but on Pogoplug.com. I am self employed and I work from several different laptops and desktops. My main goal is to just be able to save and access my docs (PDF, excel, word, images) at any time from any device. Can anyone help me figure this out? Is there a way to do this without using pogoplug? Is there another way of configuring this? Thanks!

Hi guys, So with my pc ordered, the xbox one x pre-ordered and a ps4 pro arriving tomorrow, I'm looking to create a new storage and networking solution for these devices. Now, to set the scene I'm turning my attic/loft into a gaming mancave. Currently I have a long a** Ethernet cable running from ground floor up to the third floor where my room is. That connects to my pc, Now I do a lot of downloading, large game libraries, software etc all essential stuff that I use quiet often; as a result I have tons of HDD'S with archived data that, for me to effectively use I have to hotswapp HDD'S. Right now I want a way to connect all my devices upto one central Ethernet source and get full bandwidth even If all devices are on, also I will be setting up a wifi ranged extender off of this, and will have a DisplayPort/HDMI Switch to convert all my signals into one monitor. My proposed solution at the moment is as follows: Connect original Ethernet cable to Network switch (https://www.cclonline.com/product/144169/J9774A/Switches-Hubs/HP-2530-8G-PoE-8-Port-Gigabit-Ethernet-PoE-L2-Network-Switch/NET1802/) or (https://www.cclonline.com/product/156012/DS51002GB/Switches-Hubs/StarTech-com-5-Port-Unmanaged-Energy-Efficient-Gigabit-Ethernet-Switch-Desktop-/-Wall-Mount-Network-Switch/NET1957/) and then connect the NAS storage to it, I am looking at https://www.cclonline.com/product/109096/RN31600-100EUS/Network-Storage-Drives/Netgear-ReadyNAS-316-6-Bay-NAS-Storage/BAK3491/ and for a wifi range extender I am looking at https://www.cclonline.com/product/157901/TL-WA860RE/Wireless-Access-Points/TP-LINK-TL-WA860RE-300Mbps-WiFi-Range-Extender-with-AC-Passthrough/NET1974/ Of course if this can be improved in any way or price cut down significantly for better performing but cheaper parts please advise. I am very new to this part of tech building so any and all help would be appreciated,

I'm trying to get a 16 port POE switch in a structured media box. The only thing I have come up with is a Buffalo Networks 16 port w/ 12 ports POE. 120w max POE power, apparently 32Gbps switching capacity. Does anyone know anything about Buffalo? Are they a reputable company that makes good products? http://www.buffalotech.com/products/gigabit-green-ethernet-high-power-poe-switches#tab-specifications Thanks

Hello there everyone. I'm an IT student working on a side project given to me by my instructor. He wants me to set up a NAS on a switch, that's connected to a router, that's connected to the school's internet via ethernet, which leads to the server room halfway across the school which I have no access to, and he wants to be able to see the contents of the NAS through his computer, which is in the next room, his computer is not connected to the switch or the router, instead it's hooked up directly to the schools internet via ethernet, which again leads to the server room. The NAS I am working with here is a TeraStation 1200 from Buffalo, the Router that I am working with is a TP link ac1900. I am going to explain what I have done so far and what my progress is, I'm sorry if I say something that doesn't seem right or say something that doesn't make sense, again I'm a student and I'm trying my best to learn, I've been stuck on this for a while and being unable to finish it makes me feel pathetic really. So far I managed to get the NAS set up so that everyone that is connected to the Switch/Router can access it by typing in //TS1200DA29 in File Explorer, which is fine and all however that doesn't accomplish what I'm suppose to do, so further looking into the settings I attempted to set up Web Access. If anyone who is following so far wants to take a closer look at the manual for Web Access, click here but basically after setting up a name and key I should be able to access it remotely using http://buffalonas.com/ however instead I get an error saying that it refused to connect. Personally, I believe that it would have to be because of maybe blocked ports. He believes that it must be settings within the NAS (He never took a look at it to prove his point.) I decided to take my gut feeling and dig more into the whole port thing. I looked up plenty of different ports using http://canyouseeme.org/ however all of them were the same result "I could not see your service on xx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port (9000)." So instead of blindingly putting in more ports I instead opened up CMD and used netstat -an to see what ports were maybe open that I could use. I picked the one that was mostly being used, 443, and I plugged it into http://canyouseeme.org/ to see if it was open and well what do you know it's open. So I went into the NAS Web Access settings and changed the "External Port" to 443, I went to the Buffalonas website, typed in the name of the NAS anddddd I landed on a completely different website. Check the pictures for what exactly I mean by that. I'm gonna be assuming I just landed into the schools internet settings or something of the sort. At that point I just packed up by stuff and decided to head out. At this point I'm not really sure what to do really. I was thinking that I might try and go FTP since the NAS supports it, download something like FileZilla onto one of the computers and have it act as a host. I've only seen a few videos about FTP so I don't know much about it besides being a protocol for transferring files and wotnot, however I think it's something worth looking into at least, then again it might just go into a full circle back into the port issue. Finally some notes on some other things that I tried/stuff I wanted to bring to attention. Tried both DHCP and static IP for the NAS, no effect whatsoever. Connected it directly to the router, however this doesn't seem to have any impact because the switch is connected to the router. I have not messed with the router, I don't have the username/password and the instructor forgot it so I'll ask about resetting the router next time I go, he claims port forwarding will not help due to him believing it's not a port issue, and not only that but even if I had access to port forwarding on the router I don't believe it would do any good either, I believe the school's internet itself is to blame, the router and switch is just a personal thing set up for the computers in the classroom to get internet. If anyone would like to give their personal thoughts on the situation that would be nice. If anyone has a suggestion on how I could remotely access the NAS through blocked ports that would be even better. Is this even a port issue to begin with or am I just that bad at this? At this point I'm willing to listen to any ideas, I don't go back to school until Wednesday so for now I would like to gather up ideas I could possibly do and apply them when I go back.

Ladies and gents: Looking for a decent home NAS solution. I'd really love to build my own 4U 24 bay unit with SAS RAID controllers, etc, but I don't have $3k+ to spend on hardware (not including HDDs) alone. Does anyone have suggestions on prebuilt diskless solutions? Was seriously considering the Netgear ReadyNAS 4 or 6 pay high performance models, and then just slotting in 6 or 8TB drives as the money allowed. Necessary features: online cloud sync, media server (DLNA and otherwise), RAID options. Ideal features: Lojack options, hardware real-time encryption handled by NAS configurable on a folder or file basis.

Greetings and good day! I am in need of assistance in configuring my wireless routers, one is a PROLINK PRS1241B and the other is a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300Nh2 Right now, the Prolink is the one connecting to the internet (it is provided by the internet service provider and can only access basic features like changing IP and ssid security settings as well as disable SSID broadcast) How can i configure my buffalo router as the access point (so my devices would connect to this) and be able to use it's QOS function / USB printer function when I connect it to the ProLink, When i connect the prolink to the buffalo internet port via lan cables, i am unable to access the internet but when i connect them via lan ports, i am able to access the internet but cant access the buffalo router Both devices use the same IP

Hey all, At work(A Small Business Internet Cafe) we used a Buffalo AirStation Extreme AC1750DHP, Recently we overhauled our network hardware that's why I say "Used". We would like to repurpose the AirStation into a hotspot where one would need to accept terms/conditions, or pay to use our WiFi. The router we flashed DD-WRT onto when we first got it cause all of us (staff) are big fans of the opensource firmware. So I did a hard reset on it so I would be starting from scratch with it. Using DD-WRT built in Hotspot function, I am trying to enable HotSpotSystem (Cause we like them the best) for this task. I've followed the offical instructions from HotSpotSystem, including their troubleshooting and I still can't get it to work quite right. Can anyone give me a for dummies step by step on how to o it step by step from the very begginning on a reset dd-wrt router? SideNote: If I'm posting this in the wrong forum, my apologies, and please direct me to the proper forum

Wondering what the general opinion on prebuilt NAS enclosures, mostly because I'm looking for a budget friendly solution. I'm looking at a Buffalo Link station 441e. I believe it has a Marvell ARMADA 1.20 GHz with 512 MB of DDR3. Will that be sufficient for a home NAS? Connectivity specss check out for what I need I believe. Just unsure of what else.

Hello everyone. So I finally decided to buy a new keyboard for myself (it was my birthday a couple days ago). I shopped around awhile before finding the Corsair Vengeance K70 with the Cherry MX Blue switches. The aluminum back plate and LED lighting got my attention quickly. Along with the look and tactile feel of the keyboard, I felt like this was the one. Blue switches are my favorite type alongside Buckling Spring keyboards (duh.. they're godly). So I figured this would be a good pick for me as a gamer, and a typist. Only problem being that I can't seem to find it in stock anywhere, checking Newegg, NCIX, Amazon, and anywhere else I could think of. They all are sold out. So my question is; does anyone have any idea where I can buy a new one of these beasties? Keep in mind I only want the Blue switches, but am open to other suggestions such as cooler master or razer keyboards. Thanks in advance! -Buffalo

Delicious 16-bits of fury! Emulation can be a tricky subject, so let's assume you have a physical cart of what rom you plan to play. Okay? Okay. Tested on Zsnes emulator* (set-up was a breeze!) The controller I ordered finally arrived and after spending several hours with it, a sudden feeling of the past comes over you. That little bit of childish nostalgia. I've ordered this gamepad in particular because I wanted games played on Zsnes to feel as close to the original as possible. I'll be honest, things felt awkward on the keyboard for some games. This controller itself is possibly the best 3rd party controller I've used that emulates the original feel nicely. Another consideration for this gamepad over other options was because when I read reviews on the others, they seemed to have too many issues for my taste. From poor build quality to not feeling right aka MY D-PAD IS FAIL AND WHY ARE MY BUTTONS PLASTIC INSTEAD OF RUBBER. Look and Feel: After holding it in my hands for awhile, it felt as natural as holding the real thing. It's also visual appealing. While I have no use for the turbo and clear buttons, they are there and don't stick out too bad in my eyes. The colours for the buttons are more towards the Famicom than the N.American purple SNES controller. Buttons are nice and responsive, the D pad feels great. Mine has slight cosmetic issues that you can only notice in certain light. If this wasn't there, I'd have given a 10/10. YMMV Note: These buttons are standard buttons and are not convex/concave like the N.American original SNES controller XYAB buttons were. That said, once you're playing a game, it all feels natural regardless. Other Info: The cable is long enough for most users so this shouldn't be an issue. The controller also is kinda lightweight compared to something like a 360 controller, but that is to be expected. The construction seems durable enough to service multiple drops like the real thing and keep going like nothing ever happened. Not sure how this controller works under other OS's, but for the majority Win7/Win8 users, there are zero issues with this gamepad. All you do is plug it in and boom. Where to buy: I purchased mine off of eBay and had to wait a week for it to get to Texas from Hong Kong. Again, YMMV Some people may have to wait 2-3 weeks depending on where you live -- I'm surprised mine came as soon as it did. With shipping, expect to spend around $20usd. Compared to the USB SNES controllers on market outside of an OEM SNES controller + adapter or a modified OEM SNES controller to have a USB connector, this is as good as it gets. --- If you like to play some old school games and wish to play them on a nice controller instead of your keyboard or 360/PS2 inspired PC gamepad, this is worth giving a try.

After posting a day ago on QNAP vs Synology. I decided to take the matters into my own hands as paying 1500 for the TS-870 Pro was a bit over the edge. Therefore, I need a NAS build with all the capabilities of the QNAP/Synology NAS setups and even more. I want the best software suite with the best hardware setup for $1500. Also, I want it to be easy to setup since my original purpose in buying a QNAP/Synology was to get it workign ASAP. I realized that i ahve a little bit more time on my hand to get it working, so I will try to attempt this. I don't know what to choose in terms of setup, other than a Core i3 and a really good RAID card? Requirements: -8+ HDD bays -website hosting (as little latency as possible) -remote access -streaming full HD movies (DTS-HD MA) to my bluray player Please help me pick out a case as well. I would like a hotswappable case (don't want to unscrew HDD to replace it) being as compact as possible with OK wire management.

Hi! I just bought a Buffalo 6TB Linkstation Pro V and it was in Raid-0 mode. I deleted that existing Raid Array and I made a new one (Raid1 Array) just like it stands on the instruction manual. After that the info/error led started blinking and the NASnavigator 2 (software for this particular device) says: "Re-Synchronizing Raid Array 1" and nothing happens. The error light just keeps on blinking. I tried to delete the raid 1 array and then redo the process just like the instruction manual recommends, but this same error occurs every time. It is worth noticing that after I delete the raid 1 array the light just stops blinking. Is my NAS broken or am I doing something wrong? Even though the NASnavigator tells that there is an error, the raid 1 array seems to be working.. Please help and I'm sorry about my bad English.
