Hi everyone, not very familiar with this platform but I hope I’m doing this right. I got a new desktop from a guy on a buy and sell I was told it was a power supply issue and he just didn’t want it so I picked it up for cheap replaced the psu and everything spun to life however, when I went to plug my monitor in the pc is not posting/ not displaying anything I’ve been missing around with it for a few hours now trying to figure it out but I’m absolutely stumped so I’m hoping so people smarter than me on here could help me out here is what I’ve tried so far 1. I’ve done all the ram checks a man would need plugged it into different dims plugged it into a different pc cleaned them cleaned the dims tried 1 ram stick in all the slots then tried it with the other 3 2. tried unplugging all cords that don’t have anything to do with the motherboard and apart from the cpu fan 3. cleaned the entire board using a dry cloth 4. Made sure the cpu was compatible with the motherboard it is a Asrock H170A-X1 and a Intel i7 7700 everything checks out there 5. Checked the motherboard slot for any bent pins everything looks clear I even used a magnifying glass and good lighting 6. tried resetting the cmos replacing the cmos 2 times and cleaning the cmos port 7. inspected the motherboard for any visual damage ie burns or scratches noticed no damage at all side note: i did get it to boot into bios once while playing around with the ram but it got stuck on the bios screen and didn’t allow me to click anything although the keyboard I was using powered on fine all fans spin like normal. I got it to boot into bios fully last night while plugging out all cords but it didn’t work again after that. I’ve been told by a buddy it’s a motherboard issue and another that it was a cpu issue and another that it was a ram issue however the ram runs fine in another machine and i have no way of testing the motherboard besides the cpu i have now im starting to lose the motivation on trying to fix this guy and I’m but I really don’t think it’s deserving of an ewaste bin if there is any questions I can answer please do ask I’m looking for any suggestions at all

I bought a 3060ti used off of Facebook market place. When I seated it everything ran smooth for about 30 minutes. The problem that started was all games crash. I’ve already re-sat the Gpu update driver delete and installed and from what I can tell off gpuz it isn’t over clocked. The harder the game is to run the sooner it crashes. When it does crash Gpu usage spikes to 100%. I haven’t been able to find any solutions to it. Below are two videos of a reoccurring problem in rdr2. I deleted the game reinstalled and still having this problem. CPU-Ryzen 5600 PSU-600w silver evga RAM-32gb vengeance 3600 MB-Asus b550 tested all part and they run fine the common denominator is the Gpu. IMG_1231.mov IMG_1231.mov

I thought I would give forums a try on finding out some possible solutions with fixing my gaming pc, it functions as normal until I start playing demanding games, either the game crashes, my monitors and K&M go dark and my pc sits in limbo, or my computer does a full reset. I have tried many possible fixes and none yielded any results, I will list what I've tried and the specs of my PC below. Ryzen 7 3700X Gigabyte Gaming OC GTX 1080Ti 11GB 16GB of G.skill Ripjaws DDR4 3600 memory MSI B450 Tomahawk Motherboard GIGABYTE GP-B700H 700W 80+ Bronze PSU Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition CPU Air Cooler NZXT H510 Compact ATX case -Resetting my boot drive and windows install -Updating, rolling back and using DDU on Graphics drivers (Basically cleaning out my drivers and getting a fresh install) multiple times -Updating and rolling back versions of Windows 10 -Using HWMonitor to check temps of all components (Nothing is overheating) -Underclocking my GPU -Cleaning all dust from my system and double-checking to see if everything is plugged in inside -Reseating RAM, Graphics Card, and CMOS battery -Making sure that no external connectors (DPs, USB, etc) are faulty or getting disconnected I have tried almost everything I can think of other than updating new GPU bios or swapping out components due to not owning any other components. I have a possible hunch that it could be that my PSU is faulty, broken, or somehow getting overloaded, but I am not 100%.

To give you a bit of a history of my pc I built my own pc I think 4-6 years ago, and it was working just fine, but last year it started randomly crashing while I was playing games. I didn't know why, but I kinda figured it must be the old GPU I didn't upgrade when I was building it. Last month I bought and installed a new GPU Msi 1660 Super X gaming 6 GB, hoping that the problem would be gone. Nope, kept crashing, so I tried to fix it. Current pc specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 1800x GPU: Msi 1660 SUPER X Gaming 6 GB MB: ASrock X370 Killer SLI PCU: 700W Silverstone 80+ Silver RAM: 2x8GB of 2400 Mhz(not sure what brand, the sticks are bare, not cover on them. I will attach a screenshot from msinfo for further info, or if you need any aditional info I will provide it. My native language is Czech, so I had to translate parts from the msinfo screenshot, thats why it looks a bit weird. Sorry So after the crashes remained, I tried updating my bios, I went to ASrocks website, found my MB, check compability with my CPU, it said, I can update it to the newest release. I did all the requiered stuff and boom my pc survived, but so did the crashed, they stoped for maybe 4 days, but then it started happening again. A week ago I launched Rainbow 6 Siege, and I didn't even manage to play for 15 minutes, It crashed in the menu, and I got a message from windows saying that. R6Siege has been denied from accessing graphic hardware. So I gave up and tried to put my pc into the factory setting, wiped everything, reinstalled windows, all drivers, downloaded all my games, and today still crashing. Also I noticed the lack of FPS. GTA is running smooth untill I ride a bit too fast, then I start getting micro lags, followed by a crash in couple of mins. And rainbow is just microlagging 24/7

My PC keeps freezing up and I have to restart it.
TheGeekOnABudget posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Sorry if this is in the wrong sub but I couldn't find anything for this. I recently built a computer with these specs i5 2500K Asus P8Z68 Mobo 16gb of Sniper RAM Rx 470 Strix 500W EVGA PSU Hyper 212 evo. 1TB Toshiba HDD The problem I have is that even at stock speeds the computer freezes up and I can't move the mouse or anything and then I restart it through the motherboard and I can usually use it for 10-20 minutes and it freezes up again. I know that I have more than enough watts in the power supply to keep the PC running, and the fans are running and the graphics card and motherboard have lights on, and I'm not hearing any unusual noises. Thanks for the help.- 11 replies

Around when battlefield 1 came out, I found that I had to play at 720p, low settings to get 30ish fps. I assumed it was because my PC was beginning to show it's age. Until two days ago (November 17) when I tried to play MGSV. I could normally get easy 60fps and 1080p, medium-High settings, but in the main menu alone I was getting only 14 fps! To fix the issue, I disabled my second monitor in nvidea control panel. This fixed the issue in BF1. I was playing at 1080p with medium settings, 50ish fps, but then all of a sudden, the fps dropped after about 20-30 minutes of gameplay, back to the amount before. I tried checking for viruses with Malwarebytes. It found something, I removed it and once again it fixed the issue for 20 - 30 minutes and then it dropped again. I got these same results over and over, doing traditional fixes like cleaning up my hard drive, removing old files, and I even cleaned out my PC of dust, suspecting thermal throttling or something (although this is the only fix that got no results what so ever). I'd really like some help with this. It's very strange. My PC - please don't just tell me im running on a potato, I know the LTT community is better than that, and I'm well aware it's not the best PC around. AMD athlon X4 860K GTX 750Ti FTW (over clocked, but probably not the issue) 8GB ram Gigabyte mother board in the 80 dollar CAD range 400W power supply

Hello, my computer has been having a big problem lately and I can't seem to diagnose what is causing it besides that it is most likely thermal. After I play a game, such as Overwatch or Battlefield 4, for more than a few minutes my computer either shuts off or gives me a blue windows error screen. These error screens have been changing and often would make me have to reinstall windows itself. It has finally gotten to the point where it blue screened my recovery thumb drive. Any assistance or advice as to what is causing this is highly appreciated.

I was reading an article, all of a sudden my pc shuts down immediately, like it turns into a black screen right away. It turned itself back on for about 5 seconds before powering off again. I pressed the power button again and this time nothing happens. I opened the case, took the battery out and then unplugged the power cord. I waited about 5 mins, placed battery back in again, plugged back in the power cord. I pressed the power button once again. This time my CPU lightly spinned for about a second maybe even less. The wire connected to the power button created a lightning spark. But nothing happens, the computer still won’t power on. I also tried removing 1 ram while leaving the other one in. Nothing happens except th CPU did a light spin. Please help. Thank you

I purchased my Corsair RM650X PSU from amazon in mid october of 2016. Everything worked fine until today when my PC cut out and turned off. The pc wont turn on now and i am not sure what caused this problem. I think it is the PSU due to none of the lights on the motherboard and other parts turning on in the PC. This makes me think that there is no power flow, or the whole pc is broken. Any help is appreciated, thanks

Basically my friend's pc is broken and since I am "the computer guy" he asked if I can try and fix it as well as do a format on his hdd. (oh also his pc was broken for about 4 months but during that time he didn't ask for any help) So I took his pc to my house and tried to turn it on and I noticed that my monitor didn't start displaying any image or anything and when I turned mine monitor off and on it just said that there is no signal. In this case i just tried using a DVI cable (before i used DP) and the result was the same. On this stage I thought that maybe his gpu is broken so I hooked it up to my pc and everything was fine. Now we can easily say that his GPU is not broken. Next I thought that maybe his hdd is broken and there just isn't any signal from it so i took his hdd and put it in my pc but again everything was working fine, at this stage i also formatted his hdd and installed windows on it. So his hdd and gpu are working just fine, also his mobo (motherboard) is working since fans are spinning. In conclusion i think that his cpu might be broken but I am not sure, and lastly this pc is quite old and my friend doesn't know what parts he has and he also never cleaned it (the amount of dust wasn't overwhelming but there was a bit of it there) SOOOOOOOOOOOOO do you guys have any idea as to why my monitor doesn't receive any signal ? (its the same case with his monitor)

I was using my PC casually, and about a week ago, it started getting very slow. The fps were high at points but the sudden lags made it unplayable. After that, two days ago, my PC won't even turn on and this is what it says. PLZ HELP!

So I bought a dell optiplex 9020 off Facebook was fine and everything worked good for a couple days but then one day I was taking out the hdd bay to fit a graphics card in (realized wouldn’t fit anyway) then I got “no bootable device” error but then when I changed the boot sequence to Uefi or something like that and still boot error. I misclicked a thing that said something along the lines of “allow legacy boot up options” of that sort I unclicked it and no I don’t have a display

Just a couple of days ago, my computer that I've been working on died I don't know necessarily what killed it I've been thinking it was the power supply. But I don't really have the hardware to test it. I'm sure as heck not putting it on another rig for at the blow it up if it is bad. But it took my motherboard and CPU with it. Luckily my Ram survived so I can pop it into another backup computer that I have and just run that for a minute. But it's just a little old dual-core Pentium and I went from a editing rig with a 12-thread xeon down to a 2 thread pentium. So I'm pretty much floating dead in the water here cuz I'm not able to edit on this rig I've already tried. But mainly what this post is for; now that you read all that; is to see if somebody on here can offer me any help in finding some processors to go into a LGA 1150 socket that can Video Edit and play games. But the thing is though I don't have that big of a budget. I know nobody on here is just going to give me a CPU but at this point everyday that my computer is down I'm losing money cuz it's part of my income to have this rig running.

So recently my power supply shorted and broke meaning that I had to get a new one. When I did I bought the SuperNova 750w G2 to future-proof myself and plugged it all in. I tried turning it on and it didn't work however using a test it provided showed that it worked. I don't know what to do because I know the power supply works but it won't turn on the rest of the computer. I think it's a motherboard issue but want to be sure so is there any way to troubleshoot?

I have tried many times to turn it on, none have worked. I checked the connection, then after that failed I tried a different screen. Neither of those did anything. I have heard I should do a CMOS reset, but I never changed anything in the bios in the first place, and I certainly did not flash it. I have heard weird rapid clicky noises from it while it was getting power and the psu was on but the pc was off. Is my pc dead? :'( My gpu is seated. The pc worked fine but when I upgraded from the patent-pending AMD JetEngine powered stock cooler to a new one it stopped. I really don't wanna have to check the cpu, the new cooler was a pain to install. Please respond and thx in advance for any help. (Edit:) Sorry to spam this topic, really need a reply before I bleach my way to the next lvl

Nothing powers up when I turn my pc on. I went out and left it on for a couple hours and when i got back it was turned off and wouldn't turn on, when troubleshooting it with my brother we found out that when we plug the kettle lead into the power supply the LED's on my keyboard and mouse light up for a second. Me and my brother have gone through all simple repair attempts like 24 pin replugging and front audio and USB switches This is all i have on the situation but I would like any help with fixing it
