Hi i have a question about by VDSL service. So the max rate at the gate of my home is 120 mbit and the current rate is around 100 mbit both of them are for downstream. The upstream is near 45mbit current and max at the gate. Both SNR margins around 6 but no packet errors. But in the house which I am on level 5 of the house SNR is the same but downstream speeds are down 30 mbit from mentioned above and upstream 10 mbit lower. It is just 5 floors around 20 meters max of cables and it is a good copper cable. What should I do? Change the inside building copper wires again?

I have been struggling to get good wifi signal and speeds in my outbuilding where my office is. Currently the download speed in the main house is 60 download and in the outbuilding only like 10. When I try to play games Im lagging a lot as the latency is spiking up and down. I have tried to use a wifi extender to make a bridge between the two buildings but still no good and then I have now incorporated powerline adapters but still no success. Any ideas how to improve my wifi signal and speeds?

I’m thinking of buying a 3rd party router for my sky broadband hub. It is ADSL. Is this possible? (The answers I found online were confusing.)

For a few month I have been getting crappy internet, the speed is 2-7mb and it is supposed to be 10mb The speed is getting so bad that the 7 year old daughter of my girlfriend cannot listen to her program Technical support had been trying to solve this for over 1 month with no success, the reality is that I am getting cable access thought a reseller because the cable company punish you if you do not get tv cable access and phone access in combo with their internet. So I took my Samsung S10 and did a speedtest on Bell network and I am getting over 100Mbps I am also looking at the nearby tower and Telus and Roger have tower closer to me Anybody did switch to broadban internet in Canada? I am thinking about purchasing a LTE-A Broadban router, connecting it to my existing Router instead of the cable modem

Hi all, I've already annoyed quite a few people with this topic on Reddit but I never came away with an answer that either worked or was simple enough for me to understand. I have 2 broadband connections into my home and I would like to use them as a single connection. From my research, I understand that I cannot speed up a single-threaded download with multiple broadband connections. What I've heard is possible through routing, is to utilise both broadband connections for separate devices, effectively increasing bandwidth across the network as a whole. I actually had this working at one point, using an ASUS DSL-AC68U router, with one of the RJ11 cables going straight to the router with the second connection coming in on ethernet port 1 from a router provided by my ISP. From there it was just a case of setting up load balancing in the dual wan settings on the router's web interface. Unfortunately, due to some odd behaviour with devices connected via ethernet on that router, it has been demoted to a glorified WiFi adapter in an area of the house where my powerline adapters don't work so well. I have a server running Ubuntu Server 19.10 that doesn't really do much apart from backups at the moment so I'd like to use it to do whatever the ASUS router was doing, preferably using the 2 onboard ethernet ports for my broadband connections and then the 4 port network card to connect to clients. All of the hardware is up and running but I'm looking for some help with the config on the router side of things. Cheers, Josh

Hello! I was using adsl from past 10 years but i live in small city so here in our city dsl services are not good even on 10mbps package i receive only 1mb speed and upload even worse. So i switched to 4G wireless Broadband and they gave me the pocket sized 4G wireless Router i receive 25mb to 30Mb speeds on it with ping of 20 to 24 amx and i am happy with it no issue at all. But i have few things some curiosity about Wireless Connection. One thing that i noted is When i open some regularly used websites it give me "Forbidden" error until i restart the device. Second thing is whenever i face any captcha i have to solve it but on my adsl connection i just click on i am not robot box and done but on this connection site ask me to solve the full captcha. Now i am a freelancer and working on various freelancing sites that's why i want to ask is my Wireless Connection safe or should i switch back to my shity slow dsl for to avoid any blocking or problem on my freelancing sites. Or is this normal and fine and i can use this without any problem. I didn't have any kind of issue on my Freelancing sites yet so just for curiosity sake and any future issue just wanted ask why this is happening with me on on 4G wireless network :) Thanks

I am currently looking around for a way I can use different internet sources on different programs. I'm looking in't streaming on my mobile data but the ping is still too high when playing a game. I want to play a game using my broadband connection but use other programs with my data e.g. OBS and Chrome. I hav already tired to use ForceBindIP but it didn't seem to work properly and some programs wouldn't open at all when using the command line in CMD. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

So, I don’t know if this is the right place to post this sort of thing but I’d be really grateful if this wasn’t removed, I’m desperate at this point. So, basically I have a decently spec’d gaming PC and it’s getting seriously bottle necked broadband speeds, to the point where it’s almost unusable, and I have no idea why. My broadband package should be 50Mbp/s+, which my iPhone 6s, my PS4 and my dad’s 8 YEAR OLD DELL LAPTOP ON VISTA is getting, but my gaming PC is getting about 3 to 11Mbp/s (it varies) and it’s honestly infuriating, it should be about 50 or more. I also have MASSIVE lag spikes for like 4 or 5 seconds, where my in game ping can hit upwards of 12,000, then it goes back to normal. It takes me days to download anything of worth now and it’s even starting to effect me in-game. I get kicked for connection issues more often than I finish 1 match. I’ve ran malware scans, I’ve checked and reinstalled my wifi dongle drivers, I’ve uninstalled literally any unnecessary programs that might conflict in even the slightest way, I’ve recently swapped my wi-fi dongle, I've reinstalled Windows 10. The only thing I haven't done is connect it directly into the router via Ethernet, which I'm doing later today when the leads arrive. I'm honestly so stuck and I don't know what else to try. What do you guys suggest? Plz to be helping

Source: Ars Technica, AT&T I'm not from the US but judging from the looks of it, AT&T might be using their higher frequency bands like band 30 to do wireless broadband together with femtocells for improved coverage. Higher frequency bands may have shorter coverage and poor building penetration but they can carry more data than low frequency bands which has good coverage but carries less data. That data cap looks a lot like what my parents are using before but with much lower data cap before I switched them to fiber internet just a few months ago. My country's average internet speed is abysmal at around 3 mbps and I'm just one of the lucky ones who have FTTH (20 down, 20 up) but it probably would have been better if they deployed more fiber optic cables as a backbone and have DSL to extend services because copper is still cheaper than fiber optics. So 160 GB is probably enough for 10 hours of YouTube videos at 1080p and couple Netflix movies at 720p/1080p but not for gaming or constant downloading of games from Steam. Also, you probably should forget being a YouTuber on this wireless internet since the upload speed is terrible at 1 mbps and the data caps are low. A couple 10-20 minutes of daily vlogs in 1080p 30 fps is already at 1.3 to 2.6 GB and not to mention the waiting game because of that upload speed but I don't think the people subscribing to this are vloggers or YouTubers. Some might say this is a good stop gap before deploying nationwide fiber but I think it would've been better if they just deployed massive fiber infrastructures now to future proof America's internet and keep it fast when it's being needed even during peak times. But hey, at least the US entered the top 10 for the first time as countries with fastest internet speeds in the world with South Korea at top 1.

I wonder if its only the case with us in the UK but with Virgin using a Euro-DOCSIS 3.0 I am currently paying for 300Mbps and 20Mbps Upload and getting 380Mbps+ and 22Mbps Upload Do any of you guys in the US or Elsewhere get more than you pay for ? Perhaps you guys using Euro-DOCSIS or regular DOCSIS ?

I have been unable to connect to the internet for a good few hours now and it all began after I had finished playing a long session of overwatch, Pretty much any use of internet was simply return DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG so I googled it took all steps ipconfig galore, changing adapter settings, resetting router, changing router, trying a wired connection, all of which would return the same error. However when using TOR everything seems normal. According to windows network diagnostics it is because "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings" bare in mind this A home internet connection there isn't anything like SOCKS running on this connection. This isn't isolated to windows device's either an iphone won't work on the network either. Any help is appreciated tl;dr Internet stopped working after gaming session however will work with tor. Chrome returns error DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG List of things I have already done Restarted laptop Restarted router Flushed DNS All the ipconfig stuff under the sun Reset router Swap for spare router Tried connecting on non windows device Tried using an ethernet cable instead of wireless Changed adapter properties Given up hope

I’m hoping that someone can give me some advice here. I’ve just moved to a new place and I’m getting the internet connected to the house, the company are fitting ADSL (basically a DSL connection). So the phone connection comes to the house and is connected to a box outside of the house, that feeds inside to another junction box which then distributes the connections like a network to a few points around the house but as far as I can see they are all RJ45 points around the inside of the house and I cannot see any RJ11 connections around the inside of the house. If I get the broadband engineer to connect the house up and bring the connection to one specific point within the house can I simply replace the RJ45 panel to a RJ11 one? Or even better can I simply buy an RJ45 to RJ11 converter? Would that work? I know it’s very hard to give me accurate reply’s without knowing for sure, but as I have just moved in I am short on info plus it’s not helping me that the Landlord (lovely guy in fairness) is not sure as it’s a new build and he had the builders do most of the work. In saying that, can anyone give me some advice on how this should work? I can get more info when I get home tonight btw so ask away if more info will help

I was watching random videos on YouTube until they've shown a video from NCIX in my Recommended feed and it was an interesting news for me at least. I thought of not pursuing my visa application to New Zealand and apply to Canada instead but then I realized that they have a financial crisis. But I think Canada's internet is not only better than NZ, it's better than US Internet according to Speedtest. Check here?? and here ??. I guess Internet access should be treated like electricity because they're both essential commodities. Article from CBC News: http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/crtc-internet-essential-service-1.3906664

Hi! Today i got a unusual issue, on my pc i either have no internet connection or really slow. On my phone every thing works just fine. It worked fine yesterday before i went to bed. I have a 100/100 fiber Broadband connection. When i get to site to do a speed test i shows the speed i pay for i just can't use it on my pc. I did have this issue awhile ago when i tried to install Windows on an old drive i took from an old school laptop. Seemed like it was locked so you couldent reinstall windows on your own. I bought a new ssd yesterday and installed it and as above worked fine yesterday. Sorry for wall of text writing this on my phone as i can't access this site on my pc

Article from CNET: https://www.cnet.com/news/us-government-agency-investigates-accident-with-facebook-drone/ Well, their motives are good. Providing internet access to areas without DSL, Fiber or even 3G. I really want this endeavor to succeed. Although I kinda prefer Elon Musk's plan.

I had a big irritating issue in my home network since I moved into my new apartment earlier this summer. The installment in the walls of cables are all thick CAT6A cables and so are the keystones in my hallway *redirector* box which consists of room port numbers 1-12 (each room has 2 RJ-45 ports) and 1-7 wich consists of the other keystones of which I can choose to cable whatever so to say. I must say that i've had one bottleneck earlier which I corrected and that was that I had CAT5e cables to my router and to my PC so of course I went ahead and bought CAT7 cables to match up with the same level as my wall cables have more or less. My router is a Linksys WRT1900ACS V2, my PC motherboard is ASRock 990FX Extreme9 which has the Intel 82583V nic. My broadband is 250/250 Mbit/s. Now that everything in the apartment in general seems clear of faults I just wonder what's causing my router to CAP my speed to the "10/100 Mbit/s" limitation. What is the cause and how can this be fixed? Is it perhaps a common problem with that routers model?

Hi guys! Wasn't sure where to put this topic so sorry in advance if its not meant to be in the "networking" category. I live in a rural area and for all my life have suffered from terrible internet I just done a wired speedtest on my desktop and got around 1.5mbps down and 0.7 Up, not very good However I have started looking into 4g broadband deals, the one im looking at is from three (I live in the UK) which is a Huawei HomeFi B311 with unlimited data for 12 months or 24 months. I have also looked into getting an external antena to get the best possible reception/speed possible. I was wondering if anyone here uses this form of internet, has any experience in this area or has a better option for me. I'm all ears! Thanks.

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some recommendations for a good router. Over the past year I've been getting into smart tech which has meant that additional stress was put on my ISP supplied modem which appears to not be able to handle it. I don't have a big home but I find devices dropping off the network especially smart switches in low coverage areas like under the bed (most of which need to be on the 2.4ghz range) and there's disruptions which means that even things like my Laptop can't connect to the 2.4ghz sometimes despite having full coverage which i assume is due to interference and the 5Ghz struggles to reach my room. My internet itself is fantastic, I have gigabit speeds to my home so I'm in need of an upgrade that improves my coverage but also allows for a tonne of devices connected at the same time, at the moment I'm running about 20-25 devices. I was initially considering the Ubiquiti AMPLIFI AFi-HD Mesh Wi-Fi System https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETUBI0208/Ubiquiti-AMPLIFI-AFi-HD-Mesh-Wi-Fi-System---3-Pack however although coverage is good I've read it doesn't have Mu-Mimo which appears to be important for having a smart home. Looking for options available in New Zealand if anyone more experienced than me can give me a good recommendation or just point out what I need to be looking for.

basically I have virgin broadband (co-ax) and been using an Archer V600 router as an AP, but it's essentially been working as a switch with my PC and CCTV hardwired i have all my other equipment hard wired to my virgin router upstairs, Devices such as Sky Q can't be found when i'm using my AP(because its looking for my STB that's connected to the router) downstairs and the AP router also has a USB slot for media but my devices upstairs can't access that without connecting to the AP (which is much further away than the main router), is there a way to sort of use my secondary router (current AP) as a bridge that boosts the wifi downstairs acts as a switch to my PC that's hardwired into it and also lets me share my media on my router with the equipment connected to the other router. sorry for the long post just wanted to see what i could do before exploring a Switch and NAS setup I have tried to use a bridge setup on my router but it can't find the broadband from the Ethernet in the WAN SLoT so im not sure if its possible

I have a fibre broadband with single band router. The router is placed in the last room and I work from the room next to it. Before Noon time, the internet speed is quite decent over wifi like 25 mbps and sometimes 40mbps, but then towards the afternoon the speeds drop to even 2-3 mbps, if I move closer to router and plug in the LAN, the speeds go-up to 50 mbps i.e. the plan limit. The service provider says to upgrade to dual band router, but i somehow feel it is lack due to more users on the network that are choking speed, and nothing to do with dual or single band router. Thoughts and suggestions.
