Problem I have a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptop that is running Windows 11. I am facing a couple of problems - which seem to be related to each other. For the last month or so, I have started noticing a problem where my laptop would randomly crash and restart. This problem is more frequent when I leave the laptop unattended (not a fixed duration; it can be 3 mins, it can be 10 mins) on battery power. During restart, the laptop would sometimes get stuck in the boot loop. The "Legion" logo would appear along with the loading circle. Then a black screen. Then the same thing appears again. Sometimes, the PC would try to diagnose itself while it is stuck in this boot loop. A text appears that goes something like "Diagnosing problems" (or something similar). I don't think it does anything useful in this scenario, because the boot loop would often continue. After waiting for a while, my laptop eventually boots up successfully. Can someone please help me with this? I am not sure what the problem is. I do have the latest Windows drivers. I would not want to visit the Lenovo technicians near me (I have my own reasons for wanting to avoid it), unless it is the last resort. I would rather "format C drive and reinstall Windows 11", if needed. Notes - 1. I have run `chkdsk` twice; it did not show any errors in particular. 2. I checked my power savings settings. It is set to sleep after 2 hours when on battery. 3. Regarding updating BIOS: The current BIOS version on my laptop is JUCN43WW. The Lenovo website states that there is an update, version JUCN63WW, that was released on Dec 1 2023. They even provide a download link and stuff. However, I am a bit wary about updating the BIOS. What happens if my laptop decides to crash in the middle! Specs AMD Ryzen 7 6800H Nvidia RTX 3070 32GB RAM BIOS: JUCN43WW OS: Windows 11 (with latest drivers, as of writing this post)

For some context, I built my PC in December of 2020. A couple weeks after some use, and some research, I found out that the RAM I had bought was capable of some overclocking. I overclocked my RAM pretty intensely and continued to use my PC for the next few months without any hiccups. However, one day, it suddenly shut off on me, and I couldn't turn it on. After some tinkering, I found out that the computer only worked with one stick of RAM incorrectly slotted in the 4th slot from the left (I believe if you're using only one stick, you put it in the 2nd slot). If I put one stick in the 2nd slot, the CPU debugging light on the motherboard lights up and the computer never boots into Windows. Despite this, I continued using my PC with only one stick of my RAM in the 4th slot, without any problems, but after a couple months, it suddenly shut down on me again. When I tried turning it back on, I was met with a Windows boot loop, specifically the "SrtTrail.txt" error. After completely wiping my SSD and reinstalling Windows 10 and 11 multiple times, nothing has fixed this boot loop and error. I would wipe my SSD, reinstall Windows, go through all of the updates, download all drivers, etc, and after 4-5 restarts, the computer arrives back to the boot loop all the same. As a result, I've personally reached the conclusion that it is not a software issue, but a hardware one. However, I am not sure which specific part(s) is causing this issue. I've already tested the PC with a different set of RAM sticks, and have taken out and put back in the CPU in the motherboard, both of which didn't help. My prime suspects are either the CPU, and/or the motherboard, but I obviously do not have any spare CPU or motherboard lying around to prove which part is broken. If anyone have any insights or suggestions, please let me know, I'm happy to provide any further details if there are any questions.

Hello everyone, Since last night, I've been having the following issue with my PC: it's stuck in a boot loop. When I turn on the PC, it seems to go through the POST, but then it crashes and restarts. On my screen, I briefly see the boot logo, but I can't get to Windows. Here's a video of the issue: https://imgur.com/dxsJ1gv The last q-codes fluctuate between 99 and A0. A0 appears to be the final q-code during POST, after which the operating system would typically start up. Code 99 stands for 'Super IO Initialization', which might indicate that a component is possibly not correctly connected, or that insufficient power is being supplied to a component. I've already tried the following: Unplugging all peripherals. No change. Disconnecting the GPU. No change. Disconnecting all SSDs. No change. Booting with only one RAM stick. No change. Changing the RAM stick's channel. No change. Trying a different RAM stick in one channel. No change. Disconnecting the water pump and fans. No change. Cleared CMOS. No change. It seems like the issue lies with the power supply. I've noticed something interesting. My PSU has a self-test function. If I press the button and the LED turns green, everything is okay. If that's not the case, there might be a problem. Here's what I've observed: When the PSU is completely disconnected from the system, the self-test passes. When the 10-pin ATX cable is connected, the self-test fails. The other cables don't seem to be a problem since the light still turns green with them connected. Here's a video of the self-test behavior: https://imgur.com/BTRDpRs To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what could be wrong. Could there be a short circuit in my motherboard? Could the issue lie with the cable? Or is it perhaps time for a new PSU? I followed this article online to install Chrome OS on my laptop, I followed every step correctly and got all the way up to the Loading Brunch Framework screen to boot into Chrome OS. I don't know why but it's boot looping again and again. Is there a way to fix this? I used the grunt_recovery.bin file since my laptop is running AMD. Here is a link to the article stating how to install Chrome OS on a Windows 10 laptop that I used. https://beebom.com/how-install-chrome-os-on-pc/

CPU: i7 7000 MB: Gigabyte H270 G3 A two year old system I have suddenly stopped booting. I checked and reconnected all the cables to make sure nothing was loose. The system turned on but it looped after cpu/dram/vga sequence. I disconnected the drive and managed to boot to bios. Then I tried booting it back on with the drive connected it didn't. I repeated this and came to a conclusion that the drive had issues. Got a new nvme ssd, installed it and now the the system won't even post. Its stuck at cpu status loop sequence. Fans turn on and switch off again in loop. I tried everything clearing bios to resetting the cpu as well. I don't know how long the warranty is for the components. I'm looking for my documents so if I have a valid warranty I can claim it. Till then any suggestions would definitely help.

I had a random hard reset happening the last couple of weeks. I tried to monitor both power and heat and couldn't see any issues with either before it would suddenly do a hard reset. Sometimes it would reset almost immediately after booting again and other times it would work without issues for days. Some times I was gaming, other times I was just watching youtube or surfing the net. Yesterday I exchanged the PSU with a new (same as old) and removed a power strip I thought might have had some issues and it worked flawlessly until this morning and now it won't boot at all. I sometimes get the "Automatic Windows Repair" text but after a few seconds it resets again. I've tried booting from USB, both windows 10 and Ubuntu, but after hitting "Boot from live usb" it just resets again. So it seems the bootloader runs, but it's having trouble handling over to OS startup of some kind. Have tried resetting CMOS and updating to latest BIOS. I have recently installed a new nvme M.2 unit and the issues started after (not immediately right after), but the monitoring software for the device reported no errors as far as I can tell. Hi all, I just upgraded my CPU, RAM and Motherboard and on the same power supply, my older CPU/board (specs mentioned below), never caused any problems but this goes into what seems similar to a boot loop? I press the power button, the case fans light up, CPU cooler fan lights up and spins for a while and then goes completely IDLE (while being lit up) and then the entire PC shuts down. Then it boots itself back up and shuts down again. It takes a few attempts to work but when it does boot up, It always resets the BIOS. I then have to go back to the BIOS to re-apply the XMP for my RAM. I've noticed this happens when I cold boot. Like in the morning or after some time it was shut down. When it works, It works perfectly and causes no problems. I cannot identify the problem here. A few online sites say it's the PSU? but I believe this CPU is less power hungry than the previous one i had but I'm not going to rule out the PSU possibility since I bought this PSU used a while back and it's really old. My previous specs: Core i7-4790 (non-k) Cooler Master Master Air MA410P (CPU Air Cooler) Gigabyte GA-B85M 16 GB DDR3 1600mhz Corsair HX620 PSU 620W My new specs: Ryzen 5 5600X Cooler Master Master Air MA410P (CPU Air Cooler) Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 16GB DDR4 3600mhz Trident Z RGB (2x8) Thanks!

I have a Gigabyte AB350M HD3 and I haven't updated my bios in like four years because I didn't find any reason to but my CPU started underclocking out of nowhere (Ryzen 5 1600) so I thought maybe it's a system instability issue and I wanted to update then so I update to F20 from F10 and I couldn't start my PC for a long time so I removed the CMOS and replaced it with a new one it solved getting past the bios screen but then I couldn't get into windows so I wanted to install a fresh copy of windows out of a flash drive but the pc is stuck in some kind of a booting loop whenever the installation starts and the windows logo pops out, the pc restarts on its own and I don't know what's the problem if somebody can help me I would very grateful thank you.

So...I got in a hurry on a well priced board for my 9900k. In my blind excitement, I bought a z370 instead of the z390. After installing, I get stuck in boot loop with a few error codes. One is dram and the other is VGA. I reinstalled my poor z310 and have no issues. I can't get to bios to flash for 9th gen support without a post. Did I screw myself? Now I can't afford to buy a new board. Aorus z390 gaming 5 I9 9900kf 32 gb Corsair beast @ 2666 EVGA 2060 black oc edition

Hey everyone! I posted this on Reddit, too, but I figured I'd share it here too to increase my chance of getting to the bottom of this problem! Sorry, but this is going to be a long post! My rig: - CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x (stock cooler, Amazon warehouse) - MOBO: Asus B550 Tuf Gaming (now Asus X570-F Strix) - GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2080 windforce (used, 2 years old) - PSU: Corsair TX650M (Amazon warehouse) - RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2x16 GB 3600MHz RGB - SSD: NVMe M.2 Sabrent Rocket 500 GB (PCIe 3.0) - HDD: Maxtor 2 TB portable hard drive (opened and connected as internal) - CASE: Corsair 275R This was built on October last year, although I got the 2080 on January 2021, but it has been working fine ever since. Here's the issue: my PC randomly rebooted (as if I pressed the physical reboot button) but didn't POST, it got stuck with the DRAM LED on. This happened once already, all it took was turning off and on the PSU but this time it didn't work. Not only that, sometimes after rebooting the PC got stuck on either DRAM, CPU or VGA, although only rarely on CPU. So, I tried the usual troubleshooting with the old motherboard: - Resetting CMOS - Reseating CMOS battery - Flashing BIOS update through EzFlash Utility - Reseating CPU - Changing GPU (I had an old R7770 by XFX laying around) - Unplugging HDD - Reseating RAM On this matter, when I tried one stick on B2 slot (which should have priority among the four) the PC started boot looping, i.e. getting all the way to VGA LED and immediately going back to DRAM as if I pressed the physical reboot button, then repeating indefinitely. Any stick on B2 slot had this effect, while any stick on A2 (the other priority slot) just made the PC stuck on any POST step as described before. I thought that this could have been a motherboard tracing issue, so I bought a new board (X570-F Strix) and rebuilt my PC, only to encounter the same issue. The thing is, this time it's A2 that is causing the boot loop, and not only that, this time I tried a single stick of RAM in any slot and it looks like A1 is doing the same as A2 while B1 and B2 are "fine" (still no POST, but it's better than boot looping I guess). I can't figure out the schematics, but as far as I know RAM slots are connected 2 by 2 to the CPU, so could this mean that I have a faulty CPU? I just hope that whatever started the issue didn't propagate it to the other components, or this will be impossible to solve. I'll try a different stick of RAM that I'll be borrowing from a friend of mine just to make sure it's not that, I'll keep you posted. Thank you in advance!

I have been trying to reset my pc for 4 hours straight, if not longer. from all the error codes I've seen tonight I believe it was a stupid borked windows 11 update and some drivers got messed up. Every code that I searched mentioned drivers. Now after hours of trying to get it into the recovery environment for a windows reinstall, it just freezes as soon as it gets past the bios screen, meaning I cant get into the recovery screen to even try to reinstall. I am beyond frustrated cause to my knowledge there is almost nothing I can do. I would try to flash the newest bios to the MOBO but it doesnt seen to want to read it, and I wasnt sure if that might actually make it worse. My PC also keeps getting stuck in a boot loop and the only thing that gets it unstuck is a bios reset when powered down and then itll usually try to get into windows once, and then boot loop on the next power down my specs are as follows Gigabyte x299 designare ex i7 7740x corsair vengeance rgb le 32 gb 3200mhz samsung 970 evo 256gb m.2 ssd 2x team group ex 500gb ssd western digital 2tb hard drive msi rtx 270 duke there havent been any hardware changes recently, just the windows 11 update *Sort of update, I have attached a picture of how far it gets, and then freezes and won't let me do anything*

Hey guys, I've been having an infinite boot loop issue for almost a week now with my laptop. Before the Boot Loop happened I was just updating some drivers for my laptop and it was running on Windows 10 version 21H1. Me and my brother, checked everything from the Windows Memory Diagnostic's Tests, to fresh installing Windows 10, and removing and reinstalling the batteries of the laptop. But I'm still stuck on the infinite boot loop. I asked a few people about this issue and they said there's either something wrong with the OS itself or the RAM or my Storage. As I mention before I did the WinMemDiag test and it showed that my RAM was working perfectly fine (since I was able to enter Safe Mode) and so is my storage which is a Toshiba 5400rpm 500gb HDD. So what I did was reinstall windows, but what I installed was the 20H2 version of windows instead of the 21H1 (since my laptop might've had compatibility issues with that version.) But unfortunately it still didn't work. I also did System Restore and it still didn't break free from the Boot Loop. I tried doing the multiple solutions found online and not even one of them worked. My laptop is a Lenovo IdeaPad 330-14AST. These are the following specs: - CPU: AMD A6-9225, 2 cores and 2 threads (2.6GHz~3.0GHz) - GPU 0: AMD R4 512mb - GPU 1: AMD Radeon 530 2GB - Storage: 500GB HDD I hope anyone can help me solve my problems because this laptop of mine just turned two years old. :<<

I finally managed to get a full midi tower, this was my first time building a pc. I made sure to make sure that all the parts were compatible and I followed manuals when I was assembling it. However when I turned it on it and chose the default bios settings it showed the MSI pro series logo and text along with "Preparing Automatic Repair", it then either boot loops showing the automatic repair thing or will stay on it. Also when it boot loops there are graphical artefacts (maybe) (grean/red dots along the entire screen/in lines). I've tried reseating the ram, checking all the power connections and removing the motherboard from the case to see if it was shorting. Does anyone know what could cause this? So basically, when I boot my PC it stutters on startup (video attached). This stuttering vanishes after I run something like chrome, discord, or a game. I'm not sure what about these applications that cause the stuttering to go away - maybe it's the power draw or GPU acceleration. This stuttering does not come back until I reboot my PC. If I shut down or restart my PC while experiencing this stuttering behavior, it will try for 10-20 mins and result in a Driver Power State Failure BSoD. This has happened since I built my PC two years ago. The issue is that when windows updates, it will sometimes reboot as part of the process. This causes the stuttering behavior, BSoD, and failure to update. Right now my PC is stuck in a boot loop between reverting update changes and the BSoD. Unfortunately I cannot provide logs right now since my PC is stuck in a boot loop. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hello, first post there, i hope its the right place. Some data: Notebook HP Envy x360 13-ag0006nl with a ryzen 2500u I just left this laptop off for a bit and the battery was completely drained. When i powered it on i received a message regarding a bad cmos crc from the bios and default option will be loaded. Ok. I enter the bios and loaded default options, save and exit. Now Windows from the integrated nvme wont boot. I tried disabling the tpm, disabling secure boot, going into rescue with F11. Nothing. Then i tried to use a Windows usb installer (win10 21h1), same thing, starts loading and then is stuck on the animation and doesnt move. I tried a ubuntu mate 20.04 live usb and loads fine to the desktop. ???? I tried a WinPE rescue image, stuck on boot. At this point i was annoyed. I opened the laptop, got the nvme and plug it in a dell latitude, boom, works first time. more question marks ????? I even tried removing the UEFI entries with the ubuntu live but no results. I reflashed the bios to the latest version, nothing. Since i opened it already i tried to boot to the WinPE without the nvme installed. Stuck on boot again. I dont know what to do at this point Any suggestion?

TL; DR: My HP-Compaq nx9110 (referred to as "The Laptop") will power on, but after the Compaq splash screen, it will flash to a black screen with only the top-left command-prompt-style underscore, then flash again and be back at the Compaq splash screen. This loops infinitely. I can access BIOS, but so far none of the basic methods of recovery have any effect. ------------------------------------------------------------- This Laptop's Specs: Model: HP-Compaq nx9110 (PC796AV) system board ID: 089C Processor: Intel Pentium 4 @3.00 Ghz System memory: 640 MB Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP original OS: Windows XP PhoenixBIOS setup utility Bios version: F.42 KBC version: 31.42 Serial #: 2UA443P3PM UUID #: F8DB125F186511D9 913E000FB00FBABE No bios passwords are set, both floppy and CD-ROM boot options are enabled. default boot order: 1) Floppy drive 2)ATAPI CD-ROM drive 3)Hard Drive --- Samsung HM160HC-(PM) 4) Network Adapter ------------------------------------------------------------- Long version: I recently began work on restoring an old HP-Compaq business laptop from 2002-03 (cleaning, re-applying thermal paste, checking components for damage, etc). The original 2.5" HDD (80gb, 4200rpm) that was in it would not show up in BIOS boot order, nor when I plugged it into my desktop via USB-to-IDE adapter. I chalked that up as it being dead and bought a new similar model (Samsung, 160gb 5400rpm). When I got the new HDD, I first plugged it into my desktop via the same usb-to-IDE connector, initialized the disk and formatted the whole disk to 1 volume, MBR boot sector. (NTSF as far as I know) Then, I tried plugging this initialized blank drive into the laptop along with a Windows 10 installation USB stick, to reload windows. (as far as I could tell from research, Win10 should work with this hardware) This resulted in a loop of: Compaq splash screen -> half a second of the Windows logo showing up -> black screen -> back to the Compaq splash screen. So I figured, "okay, this hardware is too old to recognize a bootable USB perhaps." I checked in the boot order screen, and the USB stick DOES show up as a valid boot option, but even disabling every other option didn't yield any different result. My next attempt was to install Win10 directly to the HDD using a tool called Win-To-Usb, which took the .iso created by the Windows Media Creation Tool and essentially installed it to the HDD as if it was connected to a new computer. I then put this drive back in the Laptop, powered it on, and this results in the startup loop I'm currently in. I haven't been able to find any info specifically related to this model and Windows 10 together, so my research is at a standstill. Any advice is welcome; my skill level is what I'd describe as intermediate. Ideas I still have: -try installing Win 7 or Win XP on the drive instead to see if it's just Win10 uncompatibility -create installation media on CD-ROM to see if that will work properly (I'll re-initialize the HDD first, of course) - chuck the damn thing out the window to see how durable it is, proceed to use it as a fancy doorstop. So recently, I got a nearly bricked HDD from my dad. I put it in, but alas, it was loud and slow. Eventually, it started slowing the whole machine down, however I didnt have 30 minutes to wait until my PC powers off, I remove it and then it powers on again. I have disconnected Hard Drives at runtime in the past, and had no bad experiences doing so, so I did exactly that. Unfortunately, this time I wasn't let off so easy. In moments, I got a KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR, followed by an infinite boot -> BSOD -> reboot loop. I have no idea what to do. Automatic repair failed, as per usual, and I've never really encountered this issue before. Reinstalling or formatting is not an option. Anyone know what to do now?

So i got a new PC: Ryzen 7 5800X - No OC + No integrated graphics RTX 3060 32GB RAM @ something over 3000Mhz 850 Watts PSU 1TB Crucial M.2 1TB Crucial SSD (Boot drive) My pc ran well until now, ive had it for 3 days. But now it is stuck in a boot loop when i start it. And no automatic repair is coming up. Im also not able to run Startup Repair. Its just black screen for 10 seconds, then a quick screen from win10 saying Restarting... That all started after it tried to install a windows update on boot btw. I did all the basic troubleshooting steps like re-seating the RAM and checking all the connections, both from the PSU and on the IO. I dont know what to do now, and sending it back would take ages and would be really hard for me right now, so i would try anything before that. Also sorry for my bad english, in german.

Hello. So I was using my pc normally for about 10 minutes and then pc froze and nothing was responding, no keyboard mouse response. I reset the pc and it was boot looping ( starts and stops and starts and so on). So i removed the cmos battery and then pc is working normally again. My question is what could be the issue? I'm guessing it could be xmp issue. Some settings i was using before in bios: Intel speedstep, Eist, voltage optimzation, rth = enabled xmp 2400mhz = enabled memory fast boot = enabled fast boot = enabled After resetting the bios, i've disabled all the settings that i've mentioned and currently running the sticks at 2133mhz. Can someone give me any information on what could be the issue, thanks. My specs: Intel i5 10400f Gigabyte b460m d2v (edit from 360*) 16gb corsair vengeance 2400mhz

So i have recently bought a new pc case, and i took my pc parts and put it into it, but here is the catch, it’s not posting at all. It will turn on, fans will spin, motherboard led’s will turn on, cpu cooler will spin but, after around 10 seconds, it will shutoff and starts again, this wont stop until In hold the power off button for at least 5 seconds. Here are the parts and tests I have tried; I have tried replacing the ram, used multiple configurations and even a single ram at once. I have tried different PSU’s, same exact result. I have reseated the CPU, i have used another motherboard, on the second motherboard it will boot up for half a second before it turns off and loops again. I have tried with the GPU and without the GPU, same result. My power connections are definitely all the way plugged in so its not that. I have done CMOS. I have built it outside the case to make sure is not shorting and I’m getting the same result. Sidenote it may be important and i am just not realizing; my hdd, is making a single beep and cricket noises when the pc boots up, could It be because of a failing hard drive, keep in mind this is the hard drive i have windows installed on. If not my last guess is that the CPU has somehow fried itself, it has pads not pins btw. Here are my specs Asrock b250m performance I5- 7400 rx 580 500w Freezer 34 esport 16 gb vengeance ram. 1tb hdd I beg of you please please help me i am so lost now,

I got some new parts after a weird issue where my pc woudnt boot, but a few RGB components would. So I bought a new power supply and motherboard for a CPU my friend was willing to give me that he used in the past. Long story short the new mobo, CPU, and power supply are installed and now the PC is stuck in a boot loop. Could it be damaged CPU? it wasn't placed back in the box exactly elegantly haha

So basically Ive just got a brand new mobo and power supply because my PC wasnt turning on, and I got a CPU from a friend that fits the AM4 chipset (specifically a 1700x I think) and when my friend placed it into the box it was facing straight down and still on the cooler LOLL I tried to use it in my PC and now its stuck in boot loop. Could it be the CPU or is it something sketchy with all the new parts? Pics attached of full build and the CPU pins

No POST after new Z390 Pro installed. Boot loops as well
disco2008 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hi all, first off I appreciate anyone taking the time to take a look at this. specs: Aorus Z390 Pro Wifi I7-6700k 2x 8gb Hyperx Fury DDR4 3TB HDD 250gb SSD (boot drive) Corsair H150i Pro RGB (360mm) RTX 2070 Super founders edition So, for Christmas I recently got a new Z390 as my old gigabyte mobo had some bad RAM slots. I should note that the ONLY change to my system was this motherboard swap. Now im Not getting POST and it’s stuck in a boot loop :(. Some more details: •upon first switching on my PSU, the lights on the motherboard flicker on quickly before immediately turning back off. Not sure if this is important but it seems really odd to Me and maybe an indicator for anyone who might know what’s wrong? •Every fan speeds up, including water cooler (I can hear pump as well) before the next boot loop begins. •On this motherboard, there are a few LED indicators in one of the corners, labeled VGA, CPU, BOOT, and DRAM. The DRAM light is the first that turns on when I press the power button, and remains on for 5-10 seconds before turning off. When it turns off, the VGA light immediately turns on and about half a second later the PC powers down, starting the next loop. •The GPU is installed in the 16x PCIE slot. I could move it to the 8x for testing but I’m worried what that will imply if it works. So far I’ve: •Double checked wiring connections •Tried to boot with single RAM stick (in slot one) •Made sure RAM sticks were in the appropriate slots for dual channel •Removed battery for 60 seconds and placed back in once again I appreciate any and all help!- 2 replies
