First post. Sorry if I'm not the best at providing context Current specs: CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F 2.5 GHz 6-Core Processor Cooler: Thermalright Silver Soul 135 82 CFM CPU Cooler Mobo: MSI MAG B660M MORTAR WIFI DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 RAM: V-Color SKYWALKER PLUS 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 SDD: Western Digital Blue SN570 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 (two of these) GPU: Zotac GAMING AMP GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR 8 GB CASE: Silverstone PS15 Current PSU: Corsair CX650F 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully Modular ATX Situation: With my current set-up. Everything runs great. I'm in the process of making an ITX set-up, so I bought a new SFX sized PSU (Corsair SF750). I put it in my current rig just to try it out. It didn't work. So I bought a different PSU (EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GM) to try. That one doesn't work either. They both show different behavior but neither of them work. Corsair SF750 - Turns on for a micro-second then makes a clicking sound and turns off. Then, when I turn it off at the back, it does the same thing again EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GM - Doesn't turn on at all I did the paper clip test with all three PSUs and they all did the same thing as when they were connected to the rig: Corsair CX650F - Fan turns on and runs fine Corsair SF750 - Clicks then turns off EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GM - Doesn't respond at all I figure there's no way BOTH of the new ones are broken, so I'm wondering if it's something to do with the voltage in my apartment? I live in an old building, so it's not the best (lights flicker sometimes when there's a lot of people using their ACs, etc). But then why is my current one working with no problems? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! Bit of a lurker here but finally posting because of an issue I just cant seem to figure out. For some reason when windows installed the System Reserved partician went to my D drive while all my normal windows files went to the C drive. I just installed a new SSD and wanted to expand the D drive to include this new SSD but of course you cannot make a drive dynamic if it has boot files. So i followed a few guides ( This one mainly) and when i got to the portion where i ensure the drive is a primary drive (it already was). i marked the new “System Reserved” inside the C drive as the active primary, removed the old system reserved in the D drive, allocated the full drive and converted it to a logical drive. Then hell broke loose. My system stalled and wouldn’t respond and when i restarted the worse thing happened, failed to boot. ”but Jayjaxs” I hear you saying “just use the system backup you obviously made before hand” i… i failed to do that. Like an over confident idiot… anyways, I’ve tried a few things and I’ll list out what I’ve trouble shooted so far Ive booted into EaseUs and verified the C drive system reserved is active Ive booted into Windows system repair disc in order to perform a Startup repair. It failed. I’ve used EaseUs to copy system reserved BACK into the D drive and set that back to active all three of these havent worked. Im struggling to think of solutions now besides a system wipe. Luckily most things are in onedrive however, theres a few gigs of gameplay clips and some side projects ive worked on thats not in the cloud that while not the end of the world, i would very much like to keep. operating system : 64bit Win 10 specs CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X RAM: Corsair 32GB 2133 MHz GPU: Geforce 3070 Storage: 2 x Samsung 970 EVO 1TB (NOTE one is the C drive and one is the newest one I just installed *currently not allocated*) 1 x Samsung 870 EVO 2TB (currently the D drive) PSU: uh… wont lie. Don’t remember and is nowhere near the problem. BIOS version: V2.20.1271 error messages File: \boot\BCD Error Code: 0xc0000034 does anyone have any suggestions? *note I’m in CST so I’ll be heading to bed here shortly*

Hello everyone first time posting here. So, I bought new PSU because my old PSU had 6 pin GPU connector but my GPU (Rx580) needed 8 pins. My new PSU arrived today it's coolermaster mwe 650 80+ bronze. Of course everything was working fine before installing new PSU. I installed the unit tried booting but fans start for a second and then no response. I rechecked all cables for proper connection. Tried bare minimum to boot 1 stick RAM, cpu, and my GPU. Right now I have 2 GPUs older one (1050ti) and newer (rx580) Tried with both GPUs still no success. Tried resetting bios by removing cell from Mobo and holding down power button for 30-50sec to drain all electrical charge. I'll try to plus my old psu now if that works does that mean I got faulty unit? Or I should try something else? I don't have differe Mobo or cpu so can't try with different Mobo. Update: Tried with old psu everything is working fine. So I guess new PSU is faulty unit. Although when I plugged in new PSU motherboard light was working (it only takes 5v but still...) Any way to know for sure that new PSU is faulty here? Paperclip test will determine that? Update 2: Tried paperclip tests on both PSUs old one started spinning no problem. New PSU gave one click sound and fan didn't even spin. (This was done on wooden table.) Motherboard was still in case. Update 3: removed new PSU & installed old one. Now my pc won't boot. I'm back to square one. Fans spin for a sec and then no response. Double checked all cables/connectors, Tried with one ram stick no data and all that. Tried paperclip test on old psu when it was inside case no success. I guess there's some issue with my case grounding and current discharge and all that maybe? Now I'm not even sure if new PSU is faulty or not. What should I do? Thank you.

When i press the power button powers up but sometimes "monitor, keyboard, headset and mouse" components are not booting along with power. I have to hold the power button to shut down the system because the system is not booting. Sometimes after disconnecting the power supply and turning it on it says "Overclocking failed, please enter setup to re-configure your system". Also, when it doesn't boot, the red light shows up for CPU either not detected or fail. But when it boots everything works perfectly fine I can turn it off and back on or even restart it without any problems but if I let it sit there for over an hour or so the same thing happens Specs: 12700k 3070 ti Corsair RM850x Msi z690 mpg edge ddr 4 wifi Arctic LF 360mm 6 more arctic fans

Hello! My motherboard is Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master. I've updated the main BIOS from F11n to F11. Everything was fine and was able to boot into Windows. Later I've observed that Secure Boot was disabled and I could not enable it (as required by Win11). It gave me the following message: "Secure Boot can be enabled when Platform is in User Mode. Repeat operation after enrolling Platform Key (PK)". So I took the following steps: Key ManagementPlatform Key (PK) Update / Yes / "Success". After that I was able to set Secure Boot Enable as <Enabled> After restart, the PC went dark! It would not boot either into Windows or BIOS menu. I switched the BIOS button to the backup position and the PC booted normally. Now I run my PC on the backup BIOS. QUESTION: How can I recover the main BIOS from the backup BIOS? *Resetting the CMOS didn’t restore the functionality of the main BIOS. *Holding CMOS Reset + Power On buttons for 10 seconds, then power on PC - Did not solve the issue.

I believe the update yesterday has caused me some problems I can't fix, and my computer is massively important to me right now. Sorry for the lengthy post, or if this is in the wrong place... I won't be offended if it's deleted, but if it is, please could you point me at where I should go? Yesterday evening I turned on the pc and it posted fine but failed to boot into Windows repeatedly, then failed the Startup Repair process before eventually giving the BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO error message. I then tried booting into safe mode which thankfully worked, so I tried repairing then resetting the installation via USB which both failed - it wouldn't even let me reinstall Windows. I eventually ended up having to format my drive and reset my bios to default before putting the settings back again to get it to install (it wouldn't install with the default bios settings). When it was installed all seemed fine until I installed my GPU driver again, when it restarts during the install the same BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO issue reappears, every time, no matter what I do. With a bit of research it looks like what changed was a Windows update. My software and drivers were up to date, by comparison to most users my system is immaculate (previously used very low spec gear and I tend to be a bit over ambitious), and I don't think anything other than Windows and Bitdefender have permission to update on their own. Since then I have tried, in no particular order because I'm tired and my brain hurts: - Uninstalling the suspected problem update - A fresh Win10 install and not downloading the suspected update - A different GPU driver that I've previously used without issue - Ccleaner between driver installation attempts - Both DDU and AMD's cleanup tool for removal - Re-seating my GPU and RAM - Windows and GPU driver installation in safe mode - Installing Windows and GPU without secondary SSD (secondary is MBR, boot is GPT, thought it was worth a go) - Various command prompt commands both from the failed Auto-Repair screen and USB* (This is where it gets wierder) - Changing Secure-boot options in UEFI - Praying to every higher being I can think of. *Attempting to enter the command prompt stuff is seemingly insanely hit and miss, I fully accept I'm something of a noob here, but it's like C:\ isnt always being recognised as a the drive where the OS lives, and it doesn't think it's on the other SSD either. Initially I thought I was entering incorrect details, but it's unable to put me into system32 or anything associated to it. Also when attempting a bootsec\ bootfix it says I don't have permission. That aside, nothing has made any difference. The timing of the failures has even seemingly remained unchanged throughout, making me think I've not even touched on where the issue is with my haphazard fumbling. My system specs are: Asrock b450 mITX/AC Ryzen 3600 16gb 3200mhz (2x8gb) Rx 5500xt 8GB Corsair Force MP510 480gb (nvme, boot drive) Kingston A400 960gb 550w PSU

Hi As the title suggests, when I go to turn on the PC it will power on then shut down and restart, this will happen a few times until it finally boots. But if I flip the power switch on my PSU, wait 10 seconds and switch it back on the PC boots fine. So what I have done so far: I thought it was a Power supply issue, so I bought myself a brand new Corsair RMx 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply. For the first few days it booted up perfectly fine, and I thought the issue was resolved. But now its started again, this makes me think it could be a motherboard issue? My motherboard is old, I've had it probably 8 years now. ( I cant remember what the MB is). Any suggestions? Thanks. So I have a Lenovo 100-15iby 80MJ that's out of warranty, so I decided to try Linux on it (works great, unless you leave it doing a distro upgrade overnight and a power outage happens and the battery dies, requiring a reinstall)So I go to re-install and I try and boot from the USB, and it says "Boot from USB <Verbatim Store-N-Go> has failed". This raised an eyebrow, and I thought it might be a bad thumb stick, so I try another, a Kingston drive. I load up the boot menu and the option for USB says "EFI USB <Verbatim Store-N-Go>", which is weird because any other time I've tried to boot from this Kingston drive it said the name of the Drive next to the USB option. There's also no boot from DVD option on the boot manager either.Tried to boot using Legacy mode, but that only brought up the UEFI boot menu, it was at this time that I noticed that the UEFI Bios isn't saving settings. So I take the laptop apart, pop the CMOS battery out, hold the power button for 15 sec to hard-reset, then power on/off for good measure, put the battery back in, closed the laptop up and powered it back on.And the Settings were still there! GRRRR...At this point, I'm thinking the CMOS battery is dead (which if this was the case, I should have been able to clear the settings, but no dice), or there's something wrong with the Bios or Mobo.I can't revert the Bios because the setting for allowing a reversion is disabled and can't be enabled to allow the flash.

I have a gigabyte ultra gaming rev 1.0 X99 lga 2011-3 mother board. Its had problems since I first got it in 2016. It worked for sometime with the old G.Skill ram I had. However, I always got some blue screen failures and it had been getting worse. Short story, I built another PC and used that for over a year, till I sold in last week. Now I got a 4x8gb kit that is on the CVL list of memory support for this MOBO, and it wont boot. I have tried everything. I have sent this motherboard for repairs 2 times before and one time they fixed something (bios issue) and the other time that said nothing was wrong. Bottom story is, I dont want this freaking mobo back. I want a brand new refurbished or something. Its been a pain forever. I've been searching online and it seems that all the x99 mobos have bad reviews, people always complaing about failures, specifically about the RAM support for these x99 mobos. Basically, only 1 stick will work. If I install 2 or more, I can not even get into the bios. (Yes, I have tried all 6 current bios patches) Nothing works. I can't use a esu-USB file to boot windows, and when I plug my SSD in, I keep going to a loading circle screen and it freezes. At this point, I just want something that will accept my ram, gpu, and that's all. I just want it to work reliably! I have requested RMA for the Ram sticks and the MoBo. Since the Ram worked on my other computer, I have a feeling its not the ram sticks. HOWEVER, I read a reddit post from 3 years ago about someone who had this mobo, and it fried 6 of his Ram sticks... https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/gigabytegaming/comments/4tybj2/problems_with_gax99ultra_gaming/ It freezes mid circle rotation at this screen everytime! How do I get gigabyte to get me a different mobo, or a new one?

My MB is aorus b450 i pro wifi (rev 1.0) Sometimes it boots if I add only 25Mhz it boots. But most other times and higher clocks ends with boot failure. It is like 3.225GHz boots, 3.250GHz fails, I go back to 3.225GHz and it fails. My MB is not suitable for overclocking this CPU? Or am I missing changing some critical setting?

I was testing benchmarks and I wanted to try and see the absolute best my PC could do. Forgive my stupidity, but I cranked up my Ryzen 5 1600 from 3.2ghz to 3.9ghz and changed my RAM speed from 2400mhz to 3200mhz (all of these by the way were supported as preinstalled options in the BIOS). Because of this now my computer wont boot I cant even access the BIOS and I have no Idea what to do.Dose anyone know if there could be hope for my computer? Or have I broken it beyond repair?I have a AMD Ryzen 5 1600, MSI Radeon RX 480, and an MSI B350 Gaming Plus.

Hey there, I was wondering if I could receive some assistance on a fairly intimidating problem. Preface: I was attempting to replace the PSU in my father's old(er) gaming computer, as the current one was getting close to being out of spec. Everything was going fine, despite a small problem I had while attempting to connect the 20+4-pin connector, in which I had to jiggle/reposition it. Now the board refuses to boot at all. I've short-tested both PSUs, and they function fine. See below for an in-depth spec and symptom sheet. SPECS PSU: (formerly) Antec TruePowerTrio 430W (currently) EVGA GQ 750W MOBO: ASUS RoG Crosshair I CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ @ stock GPU: NVidia Geforce 9500 GT RAM: x2 2GB DDR2 Crucial @ 800MHz PERIPHERALS: x1 5.4K 2.5" HDD, x4 140mm fans, x1 200mm fan SYMPTOMS Board refuses to boot or illuminate jumper lights under any configuration. Onboard illumination LEDs (non-jumper lights) remain on constantly when 20-pin is connected, regardless of the +4 pin's connection. The board's actual jumper LEDs which confirm proper current flow to the board remain unlit. STEPS TAKEN: Both PSUs were tested successfully through the Green/Black short test. All connections were confirmed secure, including the power switch jumper. Board was tested in almost all possible environments, reducing each component one by one until it was just the board and 24-pin connector (blue LED symptom persisted, with jumper lights still dimmed). EDIT: Already tried resetting the CMOS. Have I somehow fucked this board's +4-pin connector? I've checked it - the connector is solidly attached to the board, with intact visible solder points, so I'm completely lost at this point.

I have a new Acer aspire E5-574G-52QU that came with Windows 10. While trying to partition the C drive using AOMEI Partition Assistant, the system went into pre-OS mode and after that the system wont boot up. I tried to reset the PC from the " Alt+F10 - >Troubleshoot -> Reset this PC -> Keep my files " option, but the reset process stopped prematurely saying that the process was unsuccessful and no changes were made to the PC. Please someone provide me a solution

Hi, A few weeks ago, I've built a pc. I've tried to overclock the CPU, didn't work, set back to clock speed, worked. Everything worked fine until now. My PC was running perfectly fine, but it suddenly shut down and didn't boot up anymore. Well, its more like turning on the computer, worked for a few seconds, goes into windows, then shut down by itself. However, when I tried to turn it on again, it didn't go in to windows at all, tried to go into bios but it didn't work. What should I do to fix this issue? Also, the fans were running perfectly fine when I try to boot up my PC. Specs: CPU: i5 6600k Mobo: Maximus Hero Viii Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 Ram: Vengance 16GB Ram PSU: RM850i GPU: I don't have one yet Thanks Update: When I switch my PSU on, the lights on my mobo turns on, however, when i press the start button on the mobo, none of the fans turn on, neither does the light on my cooler.

I have no idea if this is the right section of the forums or not (Sorry if it's not). Basically, about two months ago I bought a brand new Dell Inspiron 3847 Desktop. The desktop came with windows 8.1 but I upgraded to windows 10 (Not sure if this is relevant). About two weeks after I get a boot error saying "Hard-Disk-Drive Failure". Eventually, I figure out a way to get it to boot up by going into the BIOS and restarting without saving. After restarting without saving it booted up like nothing ever happened but now it happens every time I boot my desktop. I have to repeat my restart about 3-6 times before it boots. Also, if I put my computer to sleep when it wakes up it tells me "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". I am still new to using a desktop so I don't know much about parts etc. Please let me know if you need any more information or if you know how I can fix this.
